Hi there, I just bought a Belkin thunderbolt dock and I want to ask that can't I use additional thunderbolt port to output a mini DP signal to my ASUS PA279q?
Because when I plug into the ports, it start refreshing 2~3 seconds a time. Seems my screen doesn't get the signal.
P.S. I use Apple thunderbolt cable to connect my Macbook Pro Classic 2012 and mini DP to HDMI cable to connect between dock and screen.

  • Belkin Thunderbolt Dock -- only works when lid open

I just purchased a Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock for MacBook Air. However, my external monitor (an Asus) only fires up and displays the desktop when the lid is open on my MacBook. I would prefer to be able to simply dock the closed MacBook, connect to the Thunderbolt Dock, and get working. Solutions? Thanks...

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To use 'Clamshell Mode' (external screen on with laptop closed) you need to connect an external keyboard and mouse then close the lid to put the MBP to sleep then touch a keyboard key to wake the external screen again.
Make sure you run System Preferences/Displays and set the external preference panel to it's best resolution before doing this.

  • Use thunderbolt dock to connect Hdmi to Thunderbolt Display

So I'm thinking about buying 2 thunderbolt displays to hook up with my pc I have Hdmi output and dvi I was thinking about buying the Belkin thunderbolt dock or the matrox ds1 or 2 to plug into and use displays is this doable ? Or you know something better ?

An A1260 MBP (15" early 2008, Model identifier 4.1) does not have a minidisplay port.  Until I can get definitive information as to what MBP you have I cannot help you.  Post the equivalent display from your MBP:

  • Thunderbolt Docking Station with 2 Ports...

I'm new to the forums. Please forgive my noob status. I have a Belkin Thunderbolt docking station with 2 Thunderbolt ports (as well as a number of other useful connecting ports). My MacBook Pro has 2 of them also. If I connect my MacBook with TWO cables, one in each port, will this double (or at least increase) the transfer speed to and from my laptop, over and above the use of 1 TB Cable?
    Thanks!

That dock is designed for one TB input from your Mac.  The other ports on the dock are for additional TB devices to be connected.  They are not made for parallel inputs.

  • Is there a driver so that a Belkin Thunderbolt port can work on Bootcamp - Windows 7?

I purchased a Belkin thunderbolt dock/hub at the apple store. It works well on my Yosemite OS X 10.10 2012 MBP 15", but not so well on Bootcamp running W7.
The display via an TB to HDMI adaptor in the dock works, and the sound in and out works (some small issues here, but there eIS sound) but the USB device do not work. I hear that ethernet also does not work, but I am most interested in the USB iMAC keyboard and its hub, which does not.
I found several drivers that say they work but in the end they all cause a PC BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and in the first case a corrupted Macintosh drive. Fortunately I was able to recover completely... I think..
Anyway I'm still looking for the appropriate driver.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?
    The drivers I tried are:
    Driver_ASM106xv139whQl.7z
    and
    FLUSB3.0-3.5.108.0a
And another question. When I un installed and deleted  the "bad' drivers from the windows system, the name of the driver is still shown in the device manager? Why would that be? I disabled it because if I uninstall it Windows tried to re install it.
Any help and advice is eagerly requested and accepted
    Thanks

  • Why doesn't the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock relay sound from it's audio out port?

Why can't my Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock operate my desktop speakers?
    Options

Bought a Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock at the Apple Store to use with my new MacBook Pro.
When I connected it to my
    -20" Mac Cinema display,
-Various USB connected hubs and devices,
    -Various Firewire hubs and devices
-My ethernet network from my Cable Modem
Then made the last connection from the Dock to the Thunderbolt port on the MacBook Pro...
    All was fine.
But when I made that one last connection - to my desktop speakers via the audio-out port on the dock (earphones icon) nothing happened.  The dock did not pick up the audio from the laptop playng an iTunes song or send it to the desktop speakers.  When I unplugged the audio cable from the Dock and plugged it in to the MacBook Pro directly, the desktop speakers kicked right in again.
Does Thunderbolt pick up audio-out from a MacBook Pro and carry it to the Dock for connection to my desktop speakers?
Of for some reason, can that signal not be carried by Thunderbolt?
Will I have to get used to the onerous task of unplugging 2 cables from my MacBook Pro when I want to more it to another location in stead of just 1 cable?
But stay with me.  Here's the thing.
When this happened I called Belkin Customer Support to ask if they could help me.  After taking me through their steps, they agreed that the unit must be defective and agreed to ship me a replacement Thunderbolt Express Dock.
The replacement arrived over the weekend and when I shut down my system and then plugged everything from Dock I purchased into the replacement Thunderbird Express Dock - - - - - the same thing happened!
No signal to the speakers from the dock.  Perfect signal when the plug moved from the Dock to the computer itself.
    Hence my question:
Does Thunderbolt pick up audio-out from a MacBook Pro and carry it to the Dock for connection to my desktop speakers?
    Can it accomplish that function?
Am I really that unlucky to have received 2 defective new Belkin Thunderbolt Express Docks in a row?
Or is it simply a matter of the Dock not handling audio throughput in the manner I am expecting.
Then again, if this is the case, why did the Belkin techies not know this when I called them in the first place.
Yes, I'm going on and on here.  But I really don't have time for this.
    What's going on here?

OK.  No reason to be playing games here.  Just surprised that this issue hasn't been brought up here on the community boards as well.  Here's the simple solution

After reaching a Level III technician in Belkin customer support today and having spent approximately 4-5 person hours on this issue, we figured out that the Sound/Output preferences in the Apple System Preferences should not be set to "Internal Speakers"  but rather set to "USB PnP Sound Device".
Worked like a charm.  Simple, elegant solution to a real problem, one likely to be encountered by 90% of the people who buy a Belkin Thunderbid Express Dock off the shelves of any Apple Store to use with a current generation Apple laptop or desktop computer.
But the Level III Belkin technician admmtted that this critical little piece of simple, straightforward information should have been readily available to their Level 1 techies who began helping me 5 person hours ago.  Would even have saved Balkin loads of customer service support time.
    And so the saga ends
Belkin owes me for helping them learn this precious lesson.

  • Connecting two Dell Ultrasharp Monitors to Late 2014 Mac Mini

Hello, I want to connect another Dell UltraSharp Monitor, (identical), to my Mac Mini, late 2014 model. However, there's only one HDMI port, and two Thunderbolt ports, can I connect two monitors to this machine?

Yes. You can use the thunderbolt ports with either DVI or HDMI adapters to connect the screens to.

  • Ethernet connectivity using Belkin Express Dock

If you find this post helpful, please add to the thread.
    My issue:
I am using a Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock and was unable to get the ethernet port to work.  I spent hours on the phone with Belkin support but ultimately solved the problem on my own.  When asked, I was told that Belkin support staff doesn't have any Apple computers, nor can they send or receive eMails.  Enough Belkin support bashing for now, I do like some of their products.
After connecting the Thunderbolt Express Dock to my laptop, all ports were working except I was unable to get my ethernet working.  I could use wireless connectivity, but being old school, I prefer a physical connections.  The solution is simple once you know it.
I disconnected everything from my laptop, went into System Preferences / Network.  Depending on your location (top pull down), there are various interface options that appear on the left side.  Typically an active interface is indicated by a green dot to the left of the interface.  A red dot indicates an interface that is inactive.  I started with a new location with no interfaces.  Clicking the "+" at the bottom left of the window, you get a list of available interfaces.  For a Retina MacBook Pro, you get the following selection:
When I pluged the Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor into one of my Thunderbolt ports, the list of choices expands to include "Thunderbolt Ethernet".  In other words the list is dynamic based on what the hardware configuration is.  One of the reasons I bought the Belkin Express dock was to eliminate the need for the Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor, but I wanted to go slowly and see what changed as I connected devices back to my laptop.
I then removed the Apple adaptor and connected the Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock to my laptop, hit the "+" and got the following list:
Notice both "Thunderbolt FireWire" and "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller".  I selected the very poorly labeled Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller as my interface and everything worked perfectly.  I think also added in the other interfaces that I am likely to use and saves this configuration as my new "Location".  All is good now.
The point of the story for Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock users is that the ethernet interface is very poorly labeled as Broadcom NetXtreme.
The point of the story for anyone having internet connectivity issues it that you might want to try comparing what possible interfaces your computer allows if nothing is connected to the computer and then again after you connect a device capable of providing connectivity.
    I hope this helps!!

I am using the Belkin express Dock Thunderbolt to USB3 . My 2011 laptop 2.5GHz-i7 with 10.7.5  does not mount the Seagate 2TB USB3 drive using the Belkin Express Dock.  If I plug the USB3 cable directly into the Laptop it will mount the Seagate drive as USB 2…  Yuk

  • Connecting Dell u2715h Monitor to Macbook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013

I recently purchased the Dell UltraSharp 27 Monitor U2715H to work as a second monitor with my Macbook Pro Retina 15-inch (late 2013).
What connection cables do I need to make this work most effectively?

    Hi,
I bought the same monitor. I will receive it next week, but i read some blogs about the best alternatives for getting the 2560x1440 and my first option will be connecting my macbook pro retina 13' using the thunderbolt (mini-display port) to the mini-display port available in the monitor.
    I'm planning using this cable:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD862ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-cable-05-m
A mini-reference about the mini-display port (It was useful for me):

This is what I'm planning to do. Note that I don't know if it works! I think so, but I don't know. I will tell you if it works next week.
If you have a mini-display port to display port cable it should work too.
    Regards,
    Carlos.

  • Belkin Express Dock

I had read in several places on the net where the Belkin Express Dock was a wonderful device providing two Thunerbolt ports, a Firewire 800 port and some USB3 ports.  Various pictures I found on the internet showed one Thunderbolt port on the front and other pics showed two in the back along with the other ports.  I bought the thing and I just opened it up.  There are two Thunderbolt ports on the back alright but there is no input port on the front.  I went to the Belkin website and looked for some info on how to set it up thinking maybe there's a hidden port somewhere.  Nope.  They show how to connect the dock to the computer using one of the two Thunderbolt ports.  This leaves me right where I started, with one available Thunderbolt port, only now the available port is on the dock rather than the computer.  That can't be right.  Where are my two Thunderbolt ports?  I gotta be missing something here.  Yes?

Post in Belkin's forums - http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=10057 or download the dock's user manual if one did not come with the one you purchased - http://www.belkin.com/us/contact-support/update

My caveats;  These are not the only adapters that you can find.  I have a feeling that these may be of inferior quality and I suggest you find some that are first rate.  Too many problems occur using cheap connectors.  After all your MBP is first rate and deserves the best.
Length is dependent upon your environmental requirements.  What I selected here is in a format that should work.  I like this configuration because of its simplicity.  I use a Mini/HDMI adapter which connects to a separate HDMI cable.  Nothing wrong with that, but not as tidy.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro 2010 won't recognise Dell Ultrasharp 2312hm

    Hi
    Desperate for help
Have purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 2312HM
I have connected it to my macbook pro 6.2 2010 (Serial Number (system): W8******AGW) via DVI cable and DVI to mini displayport connector at the mac end)
I have selected DVI input on the monitor but it just says no computer detected and goes into sleep mode
At the mac end of things, the macbooc screen flashes blue momentarily then goes back to normal.
In display preference on the mac, clicking the 'Detect displays' button has no effect whatsoever.
So in summary, the monitor is on and wired up to mac, but mac isnt detecting it
There was an identical issue from someone else back in 2012 and a long thread. I don't believe the person ever got it sorted.
...oh and Dell don't provide any support for this and say it's not compatible, but I can see from numerous threads that others have it working perpectly.
2 things I've thought of...the dell monitor instructions says it comes with a white DVI cable. Mine is black that was in the box.
I purchased a fairly cheap DVI to mini displayport adaptor on Ebay. Could this be duff? (the seller only had positive feedback)
    Help before I go mental!
    thank you!
