Connecting Dell WFP3007 monitor with Lenovo T430s

Hey guys,
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T430s with a Nvidia 5200M graphics card and I try to connect that system with my 30" flatscreen with max. resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (Dell WFP 3007). Unfortunately it is not working, but I thought the Nvidia 5200M would support it. I also have the dockingstation "Mini Dock Plus Series 3" with 2 DVI and 1 VGA port which supports 2 external monitors.
Since my 30" Dell monitor is > 8 years old it only has a DVI dual link output. So I guess I have to try an adapter that converts DVI dual link signal into DisplayPort (for the docking) or mini DisplayPort (for the T430s). Does anyone know if this works out anyhow? In any case, you say "it is not working" without being more specific. What exactly happens, after you attached the external display and pressed fn-F7?

2 External Monitors with the T430s with Intel HD4000

I have read several multiple monitor threads but could not get a clear solution to this.
Model: I have a T430s with Intel HD4000 graphics.
Desired set up: 2 External Monitors + Lenovo LCD
Problem: It seems that I can only drive one external monitor. I'd like to drive two external monitors, as I did previously with my T420.
What I've tried: I have a dock and have tried VGA + DVI for the external monitors, as well as DVI + DVI. Neither setup has worked. It always greys out the third monitor in the Windows Display options.
Any thoughts on how to drive two external monitors with the T430s? Clarity is appreciated. Thank you!

Here are the specs for your HP TouchSmart 520-1070 Desktop Computer. As previously stated your computer Doesn't have a HDMI output, instead it has a HDMI input. This is designed to let you connect a game console, a DVD/Bluray player, etc. to use as a monitor.
If you wish to conect a second monitor to your computer, you will need to use a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or EVGA UV Plus+ UV19. Using an adapter like these with the touch feature of your computer may cause issues with pointer control and you may need to disable the touch feature to use "extended desktop".

The issue here is that HDMI cables, as the name indicates, carry audio signals to the monitor. Therefore if the monitor has no built in speakers then there will be no sound. If you have external speakers you can plug them into the audio out slot on the back of the monitor and the problem will be solved.
However, if the screen does have built in speakers you need to go Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices and set either your headphone jack or the screen to be the default device. And then you ca pick which device the sound will play from. Either yourlaptop speakers or whateer speakers are plugged into the laptop or the Monitor and whatever speakers are plugged into the monitor

Need help connecting Dell U2713HM monitor to MacBook Pro

What is the best way to connect a Dell U2713HM monitor to MacBook Pro OS 10.7.5 to maximize the resolution 2560 x 1440? I was using a VGA adapter on my old Viewsonic monitor that hooked into the Thunderbolt port, I think. When I use my old adapter with the new Dell monitor, it stops my Mac from responding and the monitor says it has no DVI connection. When I unplug the adapter from my Mac, it starts working again. I'm not very good with all these port options and descriptions so talk real slow, please.

I bought the same monitor. I will receive it next week, but i read some blogs about the best alternatives for getting the 2560x1440 and my first option will be connecting my macbook pro retina 13' using the thunderbolt (mini-display port) to the mini-display port available in the monitor.

Can I run two Dell 24" monitors with iMac 27" (5750) in portrait mode

Hi there, want to putchase the 5750-based iMac 27", but I have a pair of Dell 24" monitors I want to run with it, preferably both in portrait mode. Is this possible? Or if not, is it possible with some sort of adaptor/external graphics card?

the imac has one video output. a 30 dollar adapter can be used to hook up a DVI display. (mini-display to dv adapter)
But you can add additional displays through a USB to DVI adapter. For instance see2 xtreame uv200 http://www.trittontechnologies.com/index.php/products/usbvideotechnology/see2-xtreme-uv200/ This is a great solution if you want to have another display for websites, office documents. a USB to DVI adapter isn't that great for 3D games.

I would like to connect up my 2 external monitors to my MacBook Pro. But I want to have full HD resolution. I want to have the desktop stretched so I don't want mirror displays. What is the best way to accomplish this? Is there an adapter that I should use?

Thanks for the reply. Haven't gotten anything as yet. Just that I burned out my older PowerBook using it as a primary screen w/ a secondary 20" monitor. Would be nice if the MacBooks could be used as a CPU only, connect 2 different monitors, and use the LCD screen when portability is needed. But I suppose that is why Apple makes different types of computers. I know I can rig the video SCSI cable to bypass to LCD screen and use the other built-in monitor. But there goes the warentee and any kind of AppleCare... not that I have ever used it, (until a day after it has expired!)

Being that I am a mercenary graphic designer and need to be able to work whenever, and where-ever I need to, the MacPro is not my hardware of choice. As well, I don't have $4000 in my budget. But man do those machines rock! Just think of what NASA could have done with one of those in 1969 when we were going to the moon! But now that the U.S. has decided that manned space travel and even scientific space exploration is not worthy of having a budget, the MacPros are religated to creating new episodes of Jersey Shores!

Connecting to PC Monitor with KVM Switch

I'm still setting up my new MacBook Pro laptop. I thought it would be nice to take advantage of my 21" PC monitor while I'm at home, so I purchased my first KVM switch.
I plugged everything in as instructed, and it appears to be working at about 75%. In other words, I can use my mouse and keyboard with my PC just fine, and when I click the Scroll Lock key twice, the monitor shifts to Apple mode; it has the same bluish background my laptop does.
However, it doesn't display anything I see on my laptop's built-in monitor - the menu bar, open programs, etc. Curiously, it displays one folder, titled "untitled folder 3." My mouse works, though there's nothing for it to manipulate, save one empty folder. I can't tell if the keyboard works or not. The trackpad that's built into my laptop also works on my PC monitor. In other words, I can move the cursor on my larger PC monitor with either the mouse or the trackpad.
Next, I reversed the wires, plugging the PC into the KVM node that had formerly connected to my MacBook Pro and vice versa. The results are pretty much the same, except that now when I toggle to Apple mode, my mouse moves the cursor on the laptop's built in monitor, not on the larger PC monitor. Also, my MacBook told me it didn't recognize my keyboard, so I replaced it with a Mac-compatible keyboard. (I learned how to do the hot key trick so I can toggle by hitting the CTRL key twice.)
So my KVM switch is obviously almost working. I just have to convince my laptop to ignore its built in monitor and display everything on my PC monitor, not just one empty folder. Can anyone tell me what's going on, and how to fix it? Thanks.

Connect 2 externa monitors with different resolutions?

Is it possible to oonnect 2 external monitors, with different resolutions to a mbp pro?
I've read some about the "matrox solution", but that one requires that the monitors uses the same resolution.
And, just to be clear, I don't want to just duplicate the screens, one should be primary.

You may want to phone OWC and ask whether what you want to do is possible if one monitor is connected to the mini-Displayport and the other is connected to a USB port using this adapter:

Note that the OWC adapter, like most USB video adapters I've seen advertised, is limited to a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200, so you won't want to use it with a monitor whose native resolution is higher than that.

Connecting a regular Monitor with DVI

I'm wondering if I can connect a pc-monitor to the apple TV using a HDMI-DVI cable?
Instead of using a TV I want to use a pc-monitor with DVI input.
Is this possible or do I have to connect really a TV?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
There would be a couple of issues to overcome. One is already mentioned by JG, HDCP is often not supported by DVI, you would need to check. Then there's a resolution issue the GPU of the tv may not support the native resolution of a large monitor, also your picture may or may not fill the screen and WS tv is 16:9, WS monitors are typically 16:10. Finally DVI doesn't carry audio so you would need to take care of audio in another way.
It's not impossible, there are those that use them with the tv, but you would need to check your particular monitor would work.

Dell SP2008WFP monitor with built in webcam - webcam not working

Just set up the new SP2008WFP monitor from Dell with the built in webcam to use with my Ti 500mhz powerbook. At first it told me the camera was in use by another application, but after installing iChatUSBCam I was able to get it to show a black screen instead. Microphone works fine. I tried the same with my newer Core 2 Duo macbook pro and was able to get a picture from iChat from the built in monitor camera with IChatUSBCam installed (evocam also gave me a picture right off the bat). My assumption is that there is an issue with the older mac. Not sure why that would be and if there are any solutions for it. I tried zapping pram and trashing ichat prefs but to no avail. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Another issue with the monitor is that at the suggested resolution of 1680x1050 the image is scooted about 4 inches to the right with no way of correcting. I have to set it to 1600x1000 to get a centered desktop. Again, not a problem when connected to the newer macbook pro. Are both these issues a sign of a video card issue?

The G4 Titanium was top of the bill when it was introduced, and still is a good laptop. However it would not be a good sign if it still was cause the MBP would not be top of the bill. To put it simple it has aged and the processing power is not enough to deliver the HiRes needed to do todays state of the art screens. Use the MBP for the external screen, it does the trick even when it has deliver the high resolution twice and then some. For nostalgia's sake you can flash back to it's introduction by the master of ceremony, you wouldn't say it is more than 6 years ago.
