Connecting Dreamweaver

I am going to be updating to a new server. while the transition is being made I need to update file. So I wanted to know if Dreamweaver has the capabilities to connect to 2 servers on the same site. That way whenever the file is updated it will be updated on both servers...
Desperate to find out....
Thanks

No, it doesn't. You can have a Remote and a Testing server set, but not two Remotes.
The easiest way to upload to multiple servers, in my opinion, would be to set up two site definitions using the same local files, one for each server. Edit the file from the first site definition, then Put the files, switch to the second site definition, refresh the Files window and Put to the second server.

  • Connecting dreamweaver to xampp database

I was just wondering if any one knew how to set up a mysql connection from dreamweaver to xampp
dreamweaver and xampp are running well its just im new to this stuff so there are some things i dont know how to do
the error code that appears tells me that there is no testing server on the server machine
and that the testing server for the site does not match the url prefix
if anyone could give me advice it would be great

You will have to set up the testing server.
In the site menu -> manage sites
choose the site to manage -> edit
choose the advanced menu -> testing server
make sure all the paths lead to your site.

  • Connecting Dreamweaver to new web host

Fist, I have to say that I am very frustrated with Adobe support. I
have never tried to use them before, and at this point would not again. I spent almost 2 hours on hold
in the course of 4 calls trying to reach tech support. Finally, the 3rd
operator told me, after another 10 minutes on hold, that my program is no longer supported.I have
Dreamweaver MX 2004 and have been very happy with it for the 6 years I have been using it.
Recently I changed web hosts and I can no longer get my pages to upload to the net. I'm sure it is probably a simple need to change some info in the system, but I'm lost. At first I could not connect at all, so I went in to the "manage site" and corrected my password. Now when I click to connect to remote host, the plug comes together and I appear to be connected. When I click on "Put", the page appears to go through, and the FTP log says the transfer is complete, but the page does no appear on my site. I have spoken to my host and everything appears good on that end. I'm not sure where to go from this point. I did have someone transfer my web site files from my old host to the new one, and the site seems to be functioning fine on the net, but I can't get it to make any changes. I had someone go over my site and optimize it, so there are some changes from the site that I had Dreamweaver on before. Is it possible that I'll have to completely download my site back onto my computer so that I'm working with the current pages from the web?

Sounds like a Host Directory issue.
When you connect to your site via FTP, you are probably not in the web folder.
The Host Directory field in the Remote Server category allows you to set the default folder for FTP.
When you connect via FTP, do you see any folders?
If one of them is named 'web' or 'html' or 'www' then that is probably it. You will see your existing site files.
Let's say it's 'www'. You would put that in the Host Directory field. Now when you connect it will go directly to that folder.
Once the Local and Remote sides look the same, you are ready to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting Dreamweaver with Phone Gap Build

Creating my first mobile app using Dreamweaver CS 6. I've created a site using dreamweaver with the DW JQuery Mobile sample. I've also created a PhoneGap account (free). When I try to connect with Phonegap Build it says "Project Settings file was not found for this project" and tells me to select "Create as a new project" which I did and then clicked "Continue". The spinning pole above spins for several minutes and then tells me it must be having a server error. It's done this several times over the past few days...sigh.
I then tried going to Phonegap and it gives me an option to upload a zip file, but what is supposed to be in the zip file and how do I create it in Dreamweaver? I can't find any documentation to help get me started.
I'd really appreciate any direction you can offer.
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi,
I don't really understand your question about the site root access. The mobile app is in a folder which is part of the main web site.
Here's 3 images, the first shows the start when I select Phone Gap Build, the second shows where it is trying to create a new project and the third is the failure message that shows after several minutes. - Thanks. Tony

  • How do I connect Dreamweaver CS3 to SQL Server Express 2005?

I have an ecommerce software solution that was built in ASP
C# that is entirely database driven. I'm running SQL Server Express
2005 and when I create the connection, it pops up an "HTTP Error
Code 405 Method Not Allowed" window, and it won't let me view
anything inside the database. I have checked the credentials and
permissions, and I'm connecting to the database as sa and I know
the password is correct. Any idea how to fix this?

I take it this is using ASP.NET 2.0(C#2005 and Visual Studio
2005). if so Dreamweaver sucks at this big time. My advice is for
you to download Visual Web Developer FREE, yes free from Microsoft
or buy a copy of Expression Web. Adobe missed this big time.
Dreameaver does ASP.NET 1.1 but not 2.0 or above and now with .NET
3.5 they might have to do some scrambling for this.
Either product from Microsoft is quite easy to set up
    database and do this.
Even though I have used Dreamweaver from version 2.0, as soon
as you go C#, I would go to MS and use their tools.
    Good luck

  • Connecting Dreamweaver to Access 2007 database

Hi, I am relatively new to Dreamweaver CS3; I have built a
database in MS Access 2007; I'm looking to do either of the
    following;
    1. Put the database form on the web, so users can enter
information straight into the database or/
    2. Create a front end form in Dreamweaver and link it to my
    database
Ideally, I would like to do #1
This is an internet website, not an intranet website.
Any help would be appreciated as I am growing frustrated.
    Thanks,

That makes ASP easy to install, but ease of installation does
    not
    necessarily mean ease of learning.

There's a very good reason for that. Microsoft stopped
    developing ASP in
2000. Although ASP is widely supported, and will continue to
    be for the
foreseeable future, it's a technology that's going nowhere.
    Anyone just
starting out to learn how to build a database-driven website
    would be
better advised to learn one of the technologies that remain
    in active
development. That means ASP.NET - which has a steeper
    learning curve
than ASP - ColdFusion, or PHP.
Another important consideration is which database to use.
    Access is not
designed to be used on a website. It works fine for small
    websites that
don't get many visitors, but it creates bloated files, and
    locks up when
traffic increases. Although MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server
    are more
difficult to learn, they are a much better option for a
    website.
I'm biased in favour of PHP and MySQL because I write books
    about them,
but I would seriously advise Jedi7 to choose anything other
    than Access/ASP.

  • Connect Dreamweaver CC to MySQL

I know the old way of connecting to SQL in DW is deprecated in CC. While I can install the depraced extension, I would like to do things right. The only way I have EVER connected to SQL was using the DW database window. I know no other way, and I have been searching for a tutorial of the right way to now do this. Does one exist? I am pretty good coder, but when it comes to this stuff I am admittedly lost. I work in a Mac environment.
My hosting company has been of little help. I was trying to get them to tell me the MySQL Server I should place in the deprecated extension. They couldn't. There site says "localhost" is wrong, but gives no indication of what is right. Very frustrated.
I am trying to move me site to a more powerful hosting environment. I have successfully uploaded all my files and imported my database from the previous host. If I can just get my site to connect to the SQL database I can complete the move.
    Any help would be appreciated.

PHP offers three ways to connect to and interact with a MySQL database:
    MySQL
    MySQLi (MySQL improved)
    PDO (PHP Data Objects)
The original MySQL extension is no longer actively developed and is not recommended for new PHP/MySQL projects. Hence the reason why this feature has been dropped from DW.
There are many reference books and online articles that are helpful in database connections, simply do a Google search on
    php crud tutorial mysqli
A good book which has been written by David Powers is called
PHP Solutions Dynamic Web Design Made Easy, Second Edition
I should add that in PHP circles MySQLi is preferred above PDO.

Yes, the connection string is not dependant upon the software
    used to create
the website. Here's a couple of examples, or you can find
    more at
    http://www.connectionstrings.com:

  • Dreamweaver (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS..."

I am evauating wether to purchase Dreamweaver CS6...
Dreamweaver CS6 trial (on Windows 7) wont connect to IIS (v7) Server using "FTP over SSL/TLS (explicit encryption)".  I have a NEW Godaddy SSL certificate installed on the IIS server.
On connecting Dreamweaver states: "Server Certificate has expired or contains invalid data"
    I have tried:
-ALL the Dreamweaver Server setup options
-Using multiple certificates (tried 2048 bit and 4096 bit Godaddy SSL certificates)
-Made sure the certificate 'issued to' domain name matches my domain name.
I am able to connect no problem using Filezilla, with equivalent Filezilla setting "Require explicit FTP over TLS".  I can also connect fine using Microsoft Expression web.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
    My comments:
    1) You should update your tread (forums.adobe.com/thread/889530) to reflect that it still occurs on CS6 (I had already read it but figured it was an old tread and thus should be fixed by now).
    2) You said “These warnings will also pop up for your users if you have a store saying the SSL certificate does not match the domain/ip and this can make users checking out in a storefront very nervous” .  This does not seem to be correct – my https pages display properly using the same Godaddy certificate … using IE:
    3) Godaddy is not my host (I use Amazon AWS) – but the SSL certificate is from them.

  • Dreamweaver 8 SQL Connection errors

Hi.. I am trying to use Dreamweaver 8 to connect to my SQL
    Database hosted by Servage.net
When Dreamweaver tries to connect to the database, it puts
files into a folder called _mmServerScripts and uses them to
    connect.
When I try to connect to test the database connection,
Dreamweaver gives me a 404 error saying thqat it cannot find the
    file htp://www.domainname.com/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php that it
has put even though I can see it and a couple of others in the
Online Filemanager and wneh I put the URL into my browser
I have also tried to give the files full (777) rights and
changed the owner to 'Webserver' to see if it was a rights problem
    without any luck.
Even though this error pops up during testing, dreamweaver
still shows the database connection in the database window and when
I attempt to connect, it shows no errors but dies not find any
tables within the database and I know that they are there... I can
    see them in phpMyAdmin.

    Update:
I contacted Servage Support regarding this problem and the
    responded with:
"Due to security considerations we do not allow connections
to our mysql server from outside our network. If we did allow this
the security of our systems would be affected."
but as far as I can see it, the SQL database is accessed via
the php pages uploaded to the website.. so as far as I can see, the
database is then connected to loacally (at the server) is this
    correct??
is there another way to connect to the database or should I
create the database locally and upload it? or would this cause
    linking problems later?

  • Dreamweaver MySQL recordset connection problem

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a recordset for the first time in
Dreamweaver MX but am having problems getting the connection with
    the database to work.
I have set up a MySQL database on my server (which I have
checked and is OK), checked that PHP is running and have connected
Dreamweaver to the server successfully ( in "Edit Sites" the
"remote info" & "testing server" tests show a successful
    connection).
When I try to connect to the database I get this sequence of
    events:
    1. Dialigue box: "Retrieving information from public_html"
    2. Dialigue box: "Waiting for server" (with progress bar)
    3. Dialigue box: "Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote
server time. The Select Newer and Synchronise commands will not be
    available."
    4. Spinning ball for a few minutes (I'm using Mac OSX)
    5. back to "Waiting for server" dialogue box which remains
for ages, eventually I click "cancel"
    6. "An unexpected error occurred"
If anyone can shed any light on what I might be missing I
    would appreciate it greatly.
    Thanks - Zaphodz

I am a newby to databases and am having a similar problem
with asp and my remote sql database. My hosting provider told me to
    use this script:
    <%
    Dim DBName,DBUser,DBPass,objRS,objConn
    DBName="cham_members"
    DBUser="cham_member"
    DBPass="mypassword"
    Set objConn=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.ConnectionString="DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51
    Driver};Server=localhost;Database="&DBName&";UID="&DBUser&";pwd="&DBPass&";"
    objConn.Open
    Set objRS=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    %>
Since that code doesn't work with DreamWeaver's Databases
panel Custom Connection String dialogue box I came up with this
    one:
    DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51
    Driver};Server=localhost;Database=cham_members;UID=cham_member;PWD=mypassword;objConn.Ope n
    Set objRS=Server.CreateObject(ADODB.Recordset)
It connected but doesn't show my tables. I followed all the
    advice I found here;
    1. Connect using the "Use passive FTP"
    2. Corrected a few illegal hyphens in my database.
    3. Tried MySQL 127.0.0.1:3306 which would not connect at all
    4. Remove Connection Scripts. No change.
    5. I have been running DreamWeaver 7.01 update.
I noticed the database connection names come up in the
"Connections" folder so I opened the file it had just created and
pasted in the script my hosting company gave me. Still no luck. I
am determined to learn to create dynamic websites so I really
    appreciate your help.
    Thanks, Ann Y.

  • Connecting to a MySQL Database

I just installed the XAMPP control panal that gives me the graphic user interface for Mysql server.
I'm trying to connect Dreamweaver to a database I created on my local server using XAMPP.
In Dreamweaver when I try to connect to the mysql server (and create a new database from within dreamweaver), I get an error message in a dialog box saying:
HTTP Error code 404 file not found. Here are some possible reasons for the problem:
              1) There is no testing server running on this machine.
              2) The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://localhost/_mmserverscripts/MMHTTPDB.php URL. Verify that the URL prefix maps to the root of the site.
I'm sure number 1 is taken care of because of the XAMPP, but I honestly can't figure out what the heck number 2 is trying to say... I've looked through the XAMPP root folder for the _mmserverscripts/MMHTTPDB.php but I have no idea what i'm doing or where I'm doing it with this error.
I've consulted a search through the forums for this problem and I've been following the dreamweaver support manuals.
    This stumps me.
    Can anyone please help?
