Connecting existing nano to a new PC

I have a nano that was connected to an old PC, but now need to connect it to a new PC we just bought. It keeps saying that it is not authorized, but when I authorize it, it still does not work. What am I doing wrong?

I have exactly the same problem and wondered if it's something to do with having Windows Vista. I can get new Pc to recognise one Ipod (mine) but husbands, which worked fine on old PC, new PC just won't recognise.

  • MySQL Connection (existing) Not Recognized in new file

Dreamweaver doesn't always recognize an existing MySQL connection when a new page is created within a site.
Any existing connections in existing pages function properly
I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I usually modiy the MySQL connection file as below:
if($i p== "127.0.0.1"){ .. uses one set of userid, passwords etc for local testing
else{ ... uses another set of userid, passwords etc for remote connection
    Using CS5 with WAMP
Issue has been ongoing in CS4 and prior
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have.

Dreamweaver has no internal PHP capabilities for processing the if/else control structure and hence assumingly just ignore it. However I´ m convinced it will still detect the $hostname_connectioname etc variables and attempt to read in their values -- but as your modified connection file contains duplicate variable names with different values, I assume Dreamweaver doesn´t know which variant it´s supposed to read in.

  • Trouble connecting existing iphone content to new imac

    Hi Everyone,
Not exactly sure im posting this in the right section however i recently purchased the new i5 27" imac (previously had a stand ol PC) which i had itunes on and my iphone sync'd to. I can get my iphone to now sync with itunes on my mac however i cannot add/remove any applications or import my music from my iphone to my library on this imac...any ideas how i can do this?? I have searched the help topics but cant seem to find the answers.

Hi Tara. Start iTunes and connect your iPhone to the imac. Make sure your iPhone shows up under the Devices in the iTunes Side Bar. Go to iTunes store and sign into your iTunes account. If you haven't already done so, authorize your new computer by going to Store -> Authorize Computer. You are allowed to authorize up to 5 computers for your iTunes account. If you have reached the limit, you need to deauthorize another previous computer first before authorizing your new imac. Once done, go to File -> Transfer Purchases from Tara's iPhone. It will then transfer all your music and apps from your iPhone to your new imac.

If you plug in an iPod that auto syncs to another library, you will get a pop up telling you it is synced to another library and do you want to instead sync it to this library. "Yes" *WILL ERASE* everything on the iPod. "NO" will leave everything on the iPod alone but you won't be able to do anything with the iPod on that library.
If you instead, change your iPod from Automatic update to Manual updating, then you can plug it into either computer and add stuff from either library to the iPod. Downside is that you have to do everything manually (adding to or removing from the iPod) and you won't get information transferred from the iPod back into the libraries like play count, ratings, etc.

I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one?

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format.  It woldn't sync because my movies were HD.  HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod.  Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions.  Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod

  • I did allllll that is listed below, but when I get to sync iPad, it won't sync, what do I do? Preparation Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab

THis is what I did, but when I get to sync, it won't sync.....what do I doLynnLynn
    Preparation
Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
If this device contains contacts or calendar items that are not already on the computer you are using, and that you wish to recover, then make sure you have at least one contact & one event in the applications that will sync with the device (e.g. Windows Address Book or Outlook under Windows, iCal & Address Book on a Mac).Dummy entries will do, but there must be at least one if the data is to be retrieved from the device in step 7 below.
    Transfer purchases
You can transfer your iTunes Store purchases into a new library, after connecting the device, with the menu itemFile > Transfer Purchases from <Device>. You should be prompted to authorize the computer to your iTunes account if you have not already done so. If your device holds content from more than one account you will need to authorize each one.

    Back up (iOS only)
If this is an iOS device you should now right-click on it (control-click on a Mac) in the left-hand column of the iTunes window and click Back Up to make a backup of the current settings and application data on the device.
    Recover other media
iTunes only permits the transfer of iTunes Store purchases. If your device contains other media that you've ripped from CD or downloaded from other online stores you can either go back to the original sources or use third party software to extract your data from your device. There is a list of some of the software available below.
    Recover other purchases
Your device may not have held all your iTunes Store purchases. You can recover qualifying purchases from your account by visiting the home page of the iTunes Store and clicking on the Purchased link in the Quick Linkssection in the right-hand column.
See also: HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Restore (iOS only)
Having backed up your device, and rescued all the media from it that you can, you should now restore the device from the backup that you took earlier to ensure that the device is properly associated with this new library. Right-click on it (control-click on a Mac) in the left-hand column of the iTunes window and click Restore from Backup...
    Sync
Set up your preferences for syncing Music, TV Shows, Podcasts, Info etc. then click Sync. For a device that holds calendar or contact information you should be prompted to restore or merge. Click merge to copy this information into your computer. Your device is now properly associated with your new library and you shouldn't have lost any data.
    Backup your library
For the future you should backup your library to a separate hard drive or network share as restoring a backup is much easier than the process above. The user tip Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy gives a suggested way of doing this effectively for Windows users. Mac owners can make use of Time Machine, or useCarbon Copy Cloner which does a similar job to SyncToy.

We have itunes music on a computer, an ipod nano, and a new ipod touch under two different accounts. How can we combine the music from both accounts to one device?

There is no "adding" a device.  Simply plug the iDevice into the computer.  iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

  • I have reached full memory capacity on my 500GB Time Capsule. I am considering purchasing a 2TB Time Capsule. Do I need to resave all existing data on the new hard drive or can I start afresh? Or can I link both time capsules to operate independantly?

    Hi,
I  have reached full memory capacity on my 500GB Time Capsule. I am considering purchasing a 2TB Time Capsule.
    a) Do I need to resave all existing data on the new hard drive or can I start afresh?
    b) Or can I link both time capsules to operate independantly?
    Thanks,
    Paul

You may not need to buy a new Time Capsule.
You can connect a USB drive to the Time Capsule, and use it in addition to the TC's internal HD.  You may need a powered USB hub as well.
Exactly what is on your TC?  If it's only Time Machine backups, you may not need to do anything -- Time Machine will delete the oldest backup(s) automatically when it needs room for new ones.  But if you have more than about 250 GB on your internal HD, that 500 GB may not be large enough to keep backups long enough.
If you have other data on the TC's internal HD, besides your backups, you could back up to the external HD and use the internal for the other data, or vice-versa.  But TM backups cannot "span" two drives, and you shouldn't mix backups and other data on the TC's internal HD.

  • How do I duplicate all my data from my existing Macbook to a new Macbook that I purchased last night?

How do I duplicate all my data from my existing Macbook to a new Macbook?

Easiest way is to connect them together and use Migration Assistant (which comes with all Macs).
To connect them, use one of the following:
    ethernet cable
    firewire cable
Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire Adapter + firewire cable (if your new Mac has Thunderbolt but your old Mac has FireWire)
thunderbolt cable (if both Macs have Thunderbolt)
    network (wired or wireless)
Do not use a USB cable!

  • I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express

I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express.
I am using a DLink DI-524 Router, Windows 7 (64), and the AirPort Express.
AirPort Utility will not recognize the AEX wirelessly, it will only recognize it when it is connected by Ethernet. I can then configure the AEX and verify that the settings stick once disconnected and then reconnected. However, even after that, it will not recognize the AEX once disconnected from the Ethernet cable.
I followed the suggestions of several other threads on these forums. But I am unable to get the AEX to work.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussion area!
It's almost always a security setting that causes problems when the Airport Express (AX) tries to join a third party wireless network. The AX usually does not "join" correctly and that's why you can't see it on your wireless network using AirPort Utility.
Using an ethernet cable is still the more reliable way to configure and adjust the AX, but if you are want to try to configure it using wireless, you must return the AX back to factory defaults as follows:
    Power down the AX
Hold in the reset button +and keep holding it in+ as you plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button after 10 seconds
When it is set to factory defaults, the AX broadcasts a wireless signal with a network name like "apple network xxxxxx" where the "x's" are either letters or numbers. You must look for this network by clicking on the fan shaped Airport icon at the top of the screen. If you don't see this network, then click Join Other Network to search that way. Unless you connect to this network, you will not be able to configure the AX using wireless.
Do you know the exact security type that your D-Link router is using? That is the key element in the process.
Open AirPort utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab to establish a name for the AX, device password and adjust time zone settings
    Click the Wireless tab
    Wireless Mode....Join a wireless network
Wireless Network Name...must exactly match your D-Link wireless network name
Enable ethernet clients if you want the port to be active (your D-Link must be compatible with ProxySTA for this to work)
Wireless Security...exact setting of the D-Link network. WEP security causes a lot of issues. Try to use WPA/WPA2 Personal, which is far more secure.
Wireless Password...must match the D-Link network
Click the Music icon to enable AirTunes
    Click Update to save settings
    Any luck?

  • How to use existing leaderboard in a new app version?

I have a live game in App Store, with a leaderboard.
Now I'm releasing a new version. I have a new version set up in iTunes Connect, but I'm not able to select the existing leaderboard for this new version.
How to do that? I assume it must be possible, as players should not lose any data or progress in the game when a new version is released.

Here's a screen shot of how iTunes Connect's UI looks like. As said, the existing leaderboard can not be selected from it. (Normally I see a small "Edit" button next to "Leaderboards" header from which the leaderboards can be selected.)
