Connecting Fax - PC

Hello to the community!
I want to get a fax machine that will keep the faxes at its memory and will then be able to send them to my PC. Is this possible?
I'm thinking of some model like HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a. I tried to find details but here http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Printers/HP-Officejet-Pro/CM749A -> Specs -> Connectivity there is none.
Please enlighten me. Thanks to everyone!
EDIT:
Now, I've found this HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer  which I think better suits me.
I want to ask as well, does the machine has to connect to some computer to work, or is it independent? Thanks once again!
This question was solved.

Hi QuestionAsker,
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a is capable of sending faxes to your computer.  See the User's Guide on page 51.  Digital Solutions  Fax to Email is only supported by the Plus (N911g) or Premium (N911n) versions of the Officejet Pro 8600.
HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction can receive faxes to a Windows computer, but not a Macintosh computer.  See page 137 of the User's Guide.  Receive faxes to a computer
You can make copies or send faxes from either printer without being connected to a computer.
Also, remember a click on the Kudos star to the left is a quick "Thanks" for a helpful post.

  • Connecting FAX to PSTN line using FXS and FXO ports

I have 2 cisco 1760 routers with FXS and FXO card installed in each. I have to transport 2 PSTN lines from Head Office to remote loaction using FXS and FXO cards and these lines will be used for  voice calls and FAX( one line each for FAX and voice). I have configured the router for voice lines and it is working fine. Now I am using the same config for running fax machine but it is not working. Can anyone help me out how to configure FAX in this scenario also if anyone can share any sample config. I am attaching my config for both routers. Right now both routers are connected with a cross-over cable for lab test but we will connect them later using satellite connection.

  • Can I fax a pdf file from pc through HP 5610 usb connection?

My old XP pc had a telephone/fax modem that allowed me to send out papaerless documents as faxes.
My new Win 8.1  desktop has no such hardware.
I found a 5610 All-in one at the thrift store. Can I direct files through the usb port to be sent as faxes--or do I need to print to paper and use the document feed on the 5610?
    Thanks

    Hello @deepthinker,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're looking for a way to fax from your Windows 8.1 computer through your HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One Printer. This is an option with your HP Officejet. Please follow the steps below to properly configure this feature.
    Step 1: Connect Fax Cable:
You need to plug a Fax Cable into the rear of your printer and plug it directly into the telephone wall jack. The faxes are sent from your computer to your printer as USB Cable  'print jobs' but nothing will print. Rather, when the fax document information gets to the printer the fax modem will take over and send the fax for you. You need to have an active telephone line attached to your fax port on the printer in order for this process to complete.
Once the fax cable is attached, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Install Printer:
In order to have the fax portion of the driver installed, the HP Full Feature Software and Driver package needs to be loaded on your Windows Operating System.
Please click here to access the correct driver. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Please follow through with the onscreen instructions to install your printer.
    Step 3: Send Fax:
To send a fax from your Windows computer, you simply open the document you wish to fax. Then, go to File and Print. In the print dialogue window change the printer to the HP Officejet 5610 - FAX and select Print. A new window will open that will allow you to type in the fax number you wish to send to. Once you hit OK or Print then you will hear your machine send the fax.
Please let me know if these steps work for you. Good luck!

  • Connection printer to laptop

I was trying to connect OFFICEJET 6500A printer to laptop with USB cable. The needed software was installed. Yet there was no printing. I have Windows Vista. No changes or upgrades made before. Could it be because I don't have land telephone line and I didn't connect fax?

The lack of phone line and not setting up the fax should not affect printing if you have the correct drivers installed. You may want to download and run HP's Print Diagnostic Utility. I have included the link for this.

  • UC320W, SPA8800 fax configuration

    Hello,
I have a site that has two POTS lines that I will be using a UC320W and an SPA8800 to provide phone lines to a trailer in a quarry via a wireless connection.  This setup works except that I have trouble receiving faxes from some fax machines.  I'm guessing this wouldn't be much of a problem for the customer except for the fact that one of the machines that we are having trouble receiving from is the main fax machine in their main office.
Anyway, the main site fax machine is a Canon Laser Class 700 (actually a 730i I believe) fax machine and the fax that's connected to the VoIP is an HP LaserJet 3015.  I actually got a fax through on Friday for the first time but, in order to make it work, I had to tweak the settings on the main office fax machine.  Basically, I lowered the maximum speed to 9600 baud and I turned off ECM.  Unfortunately, although this was great as a test, it's not a real fix.  Obviously, they aren't going to be able to control all the fax machines that send faxes to them.
So my question is, is there a way I can configure the UC320W or the SPA8800 so that it forces the handshake with remote devices so that they will link up at 9600 baud and without ECM?  Please note that I already tried setting the receiving fax machine to those parameters but the best I could do was No ECM and No V.34.  My understanding was that those settings would give me what I wanted but, instead, I got the same communication errors I had started with.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your answer.  Actually, the fax machine is connected to an SPA8800.  The UC320W is on the other side of the connection.  The whole point of this setup is that there isn't a way to hookup the fax machine directly to a POTS line.
There isn't any infrastructure to do it.  For the most part, the faxing works just fine.  From what I can determine, there is a problem between Canon fax machines and VoIP-connected fax machines in general.  I was able to get faxes to go through by tweaking the setup on the Canon but I would rather tweak the config on either the UC320W (which I guess is not possible) or on the SPA8800 (which I hope is possible).
So, to revise the question, is there anything I can do on the SPA8800?  As for official support, I was told that this was a fairly typical configuration when I called for reseller presales support.  From that I gather that this is at least "unofficially" supported and I hope that, maybe, someone has some insight.
    Thanks,
    Frank

  • SOLVED: SPA2102, WRP400, SPA8000, SRP521 and SRP521-U FAX NSE fails with empty Payload c0000000

    Hi Experts.
In my SIP network there is a Cisco PGW 9.6(1) used as PSTN gateway. PGW call agent controls many Cisco AS5400 via MGCP. We use Linksys SPA2102 to connect fax and modem devices.
Both PGW and AS5400 are configured to support FAX passthrough upspeeding via NSE event. Also SPA2102 devices are configured to support FAX passthrough NSE.
After many tests and debugs I see that SPA2102 doesn't recognize NSE event sent from AS5400.
From debug and wireshark traces you can see that AS5400 sends NSE 192 event correctly (see attachments).
So I've try to compare this scenario with a working one. The only difference is in the Payload content of NSE messages.
With AS5400 the Payload is c0000000. I think tath this is an empty payload while with different gateway or ATA the payload is c096c4e. In this last case SPA detects correctly NSE message.
Is this a BUG of SPA2102?
    Thanks.

Hi experts, I updated this post after several months because we need information about the status of this issue.
Now we are using the firmware 2.00.21 for WRP400 (a beta) and the firmware 5.2.10 for SPA2102 devices.
No news about next release of WRP400 and the last software for SPA 5.2.12 doesn't fix this issue.
Now we must take a decision for buying thousand CPE for current year. If this issue will not fixed during this month we will be forced to change products and vendor !!!
I hope in a your positive response.
    Regards.

  • Cisco OnRamp.tcl script - maximum fax size(s)

    Hi all!
For the last several years I've been deploying Cisco's CME solution, and occasionally I've included the OnRamp .tcl script for receiving faxes, converting to .tif files, and forwarding to an email address.
Lately I've had a customer query regarding max size of faxes that can be supported.  To wit, they are trying to send a 48 page fax, and in their email inbox they only get the first page.  They've tested fax to fax and all works well.
Does anyone know of any sizing limitations, or tweaks I can make to either dial-peers, or hardware, or perhaps the script itself to support any size fax?
Thanks in advance for any help or information.
    Kevin

I tried to configure T37 onramp/offramp fax in my network but after several attempts I failed to apply it completely and just portion of that worked well. despite describing the scenario in many forums (like here), I got nothing!
anyway, I'm going to test it in a simple form. I mean, I want to connect my edge router to PSTN line via an FXO port and via ethernet to internal network. my internal network has many physical fax machines that have gotten their internal tel numbers (like 866, 867, ...) from PBX . so can I use this scenario to configure the router to support these fax machine, or I should connect fax machines directly to router through FXS ports? tnx.

  • ATA 186 for FAX With CME

    Hi,
I have ATA 186 connected to my network when i connect a phone it works but when I connected fax machine i cannot recieve or send faxes...do I need to do any configurations in ATA...please check the attachment..

you'll need dial peer(s), on your CME router, that enable FAX passthrough as well as a few other pieces.

  • Receiving faxes irregularly

    Hello,
We have a Power PC G5 Mac w/OS 10.4.8. Under 10.4.7 we were able to receive faxes all the time (when the machine was on). It worked flawlessly w/fax PDF's saved directly to the hard drive.
Since the upgrade, we might receive one a two faxes at first, and then all others are picked up and printed by the connected fax printer during that day. Usually, though, the G5 will not pick up at all. We have not changed the fax machine, the connections, or the settings. Why have we lost consistancy? I also note that one cannot recieve faxes unles either the "Email to:" or the "Print on printer:" box is checked under fax preferences. Why is that? I am hoping someone can steer me to a simple solution here (i have looked at the linked article "10.4: Make the fax-to-email feature work better").
    Any suggestions would be appreciated...
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I don't know what help this might be, but I'm at 10.4.8, albeit on a G4, and have no problems. Here is my configuration:
    System Prefs > Print&Fax > Faxing:
    1. "Save to" checkbox is checked.
    2. Go back through the "Save to""select download folder" and choose "other folder" and reselect where you want the faxes to go, even if it is where you have already selected. It can't hurt to tell your computer again.
    3. Make sure your "Receive Faxes" checkbox is still checked.
    4. I would not exceed "answer after [5] rings." My experience has been that quite a few fax machines out there will abort their send attempt after 5 rings, so about the time you are answering, they are hanging up. This last point alone could be a likely cause for irregular receipt of some faxes, coz' I've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt.
(if this solves your problem, or is actually helpful towards arriving at a solution to your problem, please consider marking this reply as "helpful" or "solved," in addition to, if applicable, marking this question as "answered")

  • HP Printer Office Jet Pro 8500 (Not wireless)

I need help for this printer but my brief details about the items I am using in my one  room home office:
1    Dell 8250 (not wireless) bought in 2002.    (2)    Printer HP photosmart 7150 (not wireless).  (3)    D-Link router DI 624. These two items are working with Rogers modem for internet.  I also have external harddrive Maxtor 200GB attached to Dell 8250. All these items are on their own computer desk and working fine althoug the dell is getting too slow these days.
2     Bought laptop HP wireless  -  Next Desktop HP m8226x  wireless (Dec 2007). Both these items are working fine on their own computer desk in same room and getting the internet via D-Link.
3    Now come my  problems as HP printer 8500 bought recently in Dec/2009. I have seen others are complaining on this forum about 8500 go to sleep and remain sleeping until it switched off and switched on to work. It is a big stupid issue for which I have not seen any cure on this forum.
However, before I take this printer back to my store I like somebody who can help me how  to connect networking. I am using net work cable 'cat5e' by connecting one end to D-Link and one end to this printer 8500. I am not getting any response.
I need help step by step (please) on  how to make this printer networking. I did not get this info on this forum or on hp's website nor in their manual.
I still need to connect Fax set up.
I have tried getting help from hp's support but my calls goes to outside USA and Canada. Those prople are good for nothing but wasted my time asking the same questions. This was the reason I gave up using dell compuetrs and went for hp. It seems that I  have also to give hp products and go for my local stores for all my future equipments.
Just for info. I  have used hp printers but this one is beautiful and trouble some.
    Thank You

It is not so simple as you are telling me in a line or two. I was landed in a server of DI-624 (D-Liink router). I don't explain you as there are number of instructions to follow.(I am being an old man don't remember or not able to write down everything). However, I have to give Network Name (SSID) , security type, user name and password. I went back to check my note book when I installed the D-Link and their tech gave me the name and password. But it did not work this time. I think and choose auto passphrase recommended. I did. Saved info on external drive. I got Passphrase keys and Network name. I have done upto this. I am finding it really difficult to perform the steps without step by step instructions from hp. I am not blaming you. You are a nice person. However, hps top guys I'm blaming for all my troubles because I am using their products for a long time. Why they think everybody who are using their products are experts like them? How much it cost them to give step by step instructions in their manual? It is no use I am getting frustrated as they don't care for customers like me. I am expressing my frustration in hope that they are reading complaints in this forum by me and so many others like me.
I must say this printer 8500 (Wireless) is really a good printer but we need simple instructions (step by step) to follow to make Ethernet, Fax, copy, scan, photo etc to be operative and useful.
Please don't get angry with me. You are a kind man. What do I do now? Do you have any solution for me other then returning the printer - which is very easy for me as my store is kind with me as they recognised me as their customer for over 15 years for many  office items buyer. I have also bought their warranty. They don't help me to solve my problems as they are hp's problems. However, they are ready to refund my money on return of the printer.
    Thank You

  • Is SPA8800 working without PSTN lines when integrated with BE3000 ?

    Hi Guys,
I have a SPA8800 configured with static ip address 192.168.1.2/24 and BE3000 with ip address 192.168.1.250 in the same network. I would like to connect a fax machine to SPA8800's  fxs port however there are no PSTN lines connected to FXO ports , will this fax machine work?
All the technical documents for spa8800 i can find online only tell you how to integrate SPA8800 with  BE3000 with PSTN lines.  thus, the connection type between BE3K and SPA8800 is "FXO".  what if there are no PSTN lines available ?  can the fax machine send or receive faxes via ISDN E1/T1 service on BE3K ?
if the answer is yes, where are the configuration document links ?

You can connect FAX machine to the FXS port of the SPA8800. There is no mandatory requirement to have FXO lines also connected to SPA8800. If you want to use E1-PRI line as PSTN connection for fax calls, that is fine as well.
One caveat is that fax-passthrough on E1 is supported.
Will review the admin guide to see if it requires update.
    Thanks
