Connecting from Oracle designer 2000 Forms 4.5 to 9i

Hi,
a)We have installed Oracle designer 2000 and are able to connect to a 9.0.1.0.0 database.
The Versions we have used are as follows:-
Forms [32 Bit] Version 4.5.7.1.6 (Production)
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production
Oracle Toolkit Version 2.3.6.9.0 (Production)
PL/SQL Version 1.2.1.5.0 (Production)
Oracle Procedure Builder V1.5.6.15.3 - Production
Oracle Virtual Graphics System Version 2.1.10.7.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools GUI Utilities Version 1.2.0.10.0 (Production)
Oracle Multimedia Version 2.0.7.9.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools Integration Version 1.2.0.4.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools Common Area Version 2.0.0.9.0
Oracle CORE Version 3.5.2.0.0 - Production
b)We are able to connect from SQL 3.1 to a 9.0.1.0.0 database also.
1)Does Oracle support this configuration?
2)Will my Oracle 4.5 forms builder be able to use all the objects available in the 9.0.1.0.0 database?
3)Is there a possibility that my forms will not run properly because of this configuration?

Strictly speaking we only certify the upgrade from 6i to 9i, however, the technical details of going from 4.5 directly to 9i are the same and in many cases should work as going from 6i to 9i.

  • Connecting oracle dev 2000 forms to oracle 9i database on another server

    we have these oracle developer 2000 forms (in .fmx format) in a server and the data of these forms in another server.... the server with the data is very old and is very slow...so we decided to relocate the database(oracle 9i) to a new server..... also, we move the developer 2000 forms from the old server to another server which will serve as the front end to the new data server.
    The problem is we can't figure out how to make the developer 2000 forms on the new front end server to point to the new database on the new data server. I would really appreciate if u cud gimme some advice on this... so we need to know how the forms find the data, where this "connection string" is for developer 2000 forms.

    You have to create a Net Service from "Net Configuration Assistant". Or you can copy TNSNAMES.ora file from your old server to new server. You can find TNSNAMES.ora file in developer_suite_Home/Network/admin folder.

  • User name & password for oracle designer 2000

    Hi,
    I have downloaded the oracle designer 2000 from oracle . I need user name & password to enter the screen. If anyone knows pl. help me

    The username and password you are looking for is that of the Database you are connecting to. I.e. where you have installed the designer repository.
    If you have not installed the repository, follow the instruction to create the oracle user (repository owner), install the designer repository and use it to login.
    The best thing will be to download the documentation the way you downloaded the software. It is important

  • Connecting from Oracle to MS Access

    Hi,
    I've had a good search through the various topics on establishing a connection between Oracle and MS Access and have found that most center around Access initiating the connection (linked tables and the like).
    What I'd like to do is initiate the connection from Oracle.
    Some background:
    we are running Oracle 9.2.0.2 on an HP/UX 11 OS, and have a series of MS Access 2000 Databases that have identical schemas, but with totally different data content and different names (naming convention is datestamp of when Db was created).
    I would like to initiate a connection from within oracle to 'pull' the data from the Access DB's, and append the respective tables together into one lager table in oracle.
    Is there any way of doing this? Are there connection drivers that will allow oracle to create an ODBC connection to Access? and if so what must be loaded/configured within oracle on the Unix box to achieve this in an automated fashion?
    Any help most appreciated.
    Cheers,
    James

    You can do this sort of thing if you install Oracle Heterogenous Services. That lets you create a database link from an Oracle database to a non-Oracle database and issue SQL statements against the data in the non-Oracle database.

  • Importing from Oracle Designer

    Hi, I am looking to migrate from Oracle Designer. We have 2k plus objects in a enterprise model supporting multiple applications. When following the dialogs to import into DM 3.1, I connect to the repository fine but when I select our Logical application system, I am not seeing all our entities. What is the basis for selecting entities to present? Do they need to be checked in? We have some that are not yet versioned that do not show up and I can see them not being there but others that are versioned do not show up. I think most of these are checked out but I see some that are checked out as well. Any ideas, thks.

    Yes they need to be checked in if they are versioned.

    I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
    Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello kgronau,
    Thank You very much for your recommendations.  I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
    I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
    SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
    select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ㈵″㠵6
    SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
    and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
    I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
    SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
      COUNT(*)
           600
    I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
    Thanks once again!!!
    Ram.

    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75
    Scenario:
    I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
    I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). I have also read several blogs, hence there might be a few more settings in the configuration files than the formal documentation says, but these have come from blogs that have “Solved” problems for other similar situations.
    The environments:
    HOST:
    Name: RESOLVEIT-PC
    IP: 192.168.1.80
    Windows 8 (64bit) , with system DSN ODBC connection ACME_POS created with 32 bit ODBC set up (This setting still shows up fine in the 64 bit ODBC).
    GUEST VM:
    Name: OraDBSvr.com
    GUES fixed IP Address: 192.1.200
    Oracle VirtualBox (4.2.16)
    Oracle Redhat Linux 6 (x86)

    Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver     = FreeTDS
    Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
    Trace       = 1
    Servername  = 192.168.1.80
    Database    = dbo
    Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    Server = 192.168.1.80
    Database
    = dbo     ####  I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
    Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
    TDS_Version = 8.0
    QuotedId=YES
    Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
    What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
    In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
    file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
    file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
    and post the output.

    There is a typo in the name of you gateway init file. You posted the content of inithMYSQL.ora but the naming is init<SID>.ora which is in your case initMYSQL.ora.
    In addition please keep in mind HSODBC has been desupported since 2008 and when starting a new configuration you should use the follow up product dg4odbc (Database Gateway for ODBC) V11.

    Hi ,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Contents of my initMYSQLSERVERDSN.ora file is
    # This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are
    # needed for an ODBC Agent.
    # HS init parameters
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MYSQLSERVERDSN
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = hsmsql.trc
    # Environment variables required for the non-Oracle system
    #set <envvar>=<value>
    set ODBCINI=c:\WINDOWS\ODBC.INI
    SALIHKM.DOMAIN.COM is my system in which Oracle Test DB is Installed.
    SQL Server is in another location.
    In Tnsnames i specified ip address.
    One more doubt.
    I am using 10g Release 2 demo version.
    whether it will support Hetrogeneous Services?
    How to know whether a database supports HS or not?
    Thanks & Regards

  • ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned

    Hi All,
    My database is in 10.2.0.4 and has a dblink to sqlserver. The dblink works fine for normal queries.
    However when executing the following query from my oracle database
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
    AND "startDateTime" < TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD')
    AND ROWNUM < 101
    I am getting the following error
    Note : Line 8 is "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
    ERROR at line 8:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    ORA-02063: preceding line from xyz
    Note:
    1.data is of datatype VARCHARN(1000) and if we ignore that field I am able to get the output
    2. If I give the StartDateTime to a value without using to_date I am able to get the output.
    Could you please tell me what could be the problem ?
    Thanks in advance.

    If the edit masks doesn't match how come I am able to get output for the below query
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" < TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD')
    AND ROWNUM < 101
    The problem as far as I am know is if I try to select data and use both the where clauses I am getting the error.
    Which is
    SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
    FROM "abc"@xyz.com
    WHERE "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)

    Is your database connect string correct? The ones I use don't have .com attached to them.

  • ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this mesg

    Hi,
    I am able to access ACCESS DB from local system having Oracle DB in the same machine using Oracle Heterogenious services.
    Now when I try to access from remote system, I am getting error message as mentioned.
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]

    correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
    (SQL State: 00000; SQL Code: -1023)

    That's a specific problem with mapped drives, on metalink:
