Connecting google earth to oracle

Im working in a project that consist of projecting datas (with latitude and longitude) from oracle DB 10, into google earth; is it possiblei ? and haw?
think you!

Need more details...what exactly do you want to do? Pull coordinates from Oracle and pass them to Google Earth to be displayed?
It seems reasonable that you could write a program that connects to a database, gets some coordinate data from the db, then launches Google Earth with the coordinates as parameters, and zooms in on that location....
Seems reasonable, not sure if it's possible.....

  • Projection in Google Earth and Oracle

I'm trying to build a demo with dutch data (The Netherlands) with the article from Justin Lokitz http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/lokitz-spatial-geoserver.html. In his tables he uses SRID 8265. Anyone any idea which srid I should use with my dutch (Navteq = lat/lon) data?
And does anyone have any idea why the maps of The Netherlands or Belgium or whatever in Google Earth (or Mapinfo) is straight up, and the map of the Netherlands with geodetic data always looks tilted and stretched?

Generally CS transformation is rather straightforward, although sometimes mathematical complicated. Most of the times CS transformation to projected coordinates is a two step approach.
First from WGS84 (lat lon) to Local geodetic datum (lat lon), Secondly a projection is applied to local projected coordinates.
For the first step, if available, a 7 parameter transformation is applied. These parameters will give you the 3 translation, 3 rotation and 1scale factors from and to WGS84 to your local datum.
This first step is actually a 4 fase traject.
from WGS84 (lat lon) to WGS84 (X,Y,Z) then the 7 parameter transformation is applied to get YOURDATUM (X,Y,Z). After this you go from YOURDATUM (X,Y,Z) to YOURDATUM(LAT, LON).
The second step will apply the projection on YOURDATUM(LAT,LON).
I would think that this general approach counts for a lot of transformations implemented. although there are some other transformations available, depending on the availability of the 7 parameters.

  • Can you give me tips to connect my iPod after Google Earth XP?

Around 3PM today, I had installed Google Earth onto my computer. Prior to that, I didn't have a problem connecting my iPod nano (2nd generation, I believe) to Windows XP. It wasn't an hour later or so afterwards that I connected my iPod to my computer, and IT WOULDN'T CONNECT! I had tried google-ing to find the problem, but all I got was...well, gibberish. I had tried other keyword combinations, but I got the same thing. I am only a teenager, so I don't know everything. Without iTunes, I can't add any more songs onto my iPod nano. I know this forum deals with iPods, but is there a connection between the iPod and Google Earth, or is it something else? I cannot explain it. Can anyone help me?!?

If you configured Find My Phone on iCloud.com then you can locate it if it's connected to the Internet. You can also arrange to have it locked automatically. But if you did not do that and do not have the Find My Phone app on the device, all you can do is report the theft to the police.

Sometimes the sign-in process goes kablooey for whatever reason. It can usually be remedied by tapping the options icon (the cogwheel out in the project selection user interface; upper right) > My Account. Sign in that way and you should be able to get everything going again. I just did it on my Google Nexus 7 2013 with no problems.

  • Google Earth connection problem

I recently got Comcast cable internet and the problems are multiplying. My software update [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=430969&tstart=0 ] is giving me problems, and now Google Earth isn't able to function either. As soon as I start it up a window pops up saying:
    "Performing Google Earth server login..."
then after a minute or two it pops up with:
"We were unable to connect to the Google Earth server to activate your account. Please verify that your internet connection is working properly and retry your account activation. For more information visit error code: c0000024"
And it points to this page
    [http://earth.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=20717 ]
Does anyone know the address Google Earth connects too? I think it can be a simple proxy problem but I'm not positive. Any advice?

    willjm wrote:
Google Earth was now listed in the hard drive finder window (but was not in the applications folder).
You are looking at a mounted disk image (.dmg). It's the container you downloaded, which holds Earth, its plug-in, and Chrome. It is only temporarily open, until it gets ejected like a CD/DVD (which will happen when you shut down your computer).
When I dragged the Google Earth icon to the hard drive icon to install as instructed, nothing happened.
You're supposed to drag it to your Applications folder. What's the name of the hard drive icon that you were dragging Earth onto? Were you dragging it onto the volume labeled Google Earth, or the one labeled Macintosh HD (or whatever you internal drive is called)?
Double clicking launched the programme which worked fine (in Safari). However the problem is that _when I switch off my computer, the next time I switch on Google Earth has disappeared._
Sounds like you were running Earth out of its own .dmg container. Once you shut your computer down, you automatically ejected the .dmg volume. If nothing happened when you tried to drag Earth out of its .dmg, then it was never copied over.
Has anyone had this problem? What am I missing?
Drag Google Earth to your Applications folder to pull it out of its .dmg and onto your hard drive (which is what the instructions mean).

  • Google Earth compatibility with MAC?

I'm surprised to see so little discussion regarding Google Earth & the MAC platform. I've checked with Google and have searched several forums. Everyone agrees there's a problem, but who can offer a remedy - or even a theory? I have an IMac 5.1 running OSX 10.4.11, and the only thing that's worked for me so far is to blow away the Google Earth application & then install it again. I just do that each time it quits working, but it's getting old, and it's a pain having to set up preferences etc. each time. Do I just resign myself to the idea that, because I have a MAC, I can't use this awesome little tool?

Hi, Jimmy. I recently discovered that my old version of Google Earth — 3.1.0617.0, the last version that ran in Panther — no longer connects to GE's database, and when I try to open it I get a "Required Update" notice. This will finally provide the impetus for me to upgrade to Tiger or maybe even Leopard, both of which I've happily ignored so far. Panther has been a great OS, doing everything I needed or wanted it to, but I've realized for some time that eventually the system requirements of some application (or version of an application) I couldn't do without would probably force me to upgrade my OS. Google Earth is that app for me.

  • Google Earth Flight Simulator

Is my system capable of operating the Google Earth flight simulator?
I have the pre-Intel version of the Mac Mini upgraded to 1MB Ram, recently purchased 19" View Sonic monitor with DVI connection.
The Google Earth flight simulator has a slow prop plane and an F-16.
I do not have a joy stick but would get one if my Mac Mini is up to handling the requirements of a flight simulator.

I notice you say you have the 'pre-Intel' Mac mini, which would make your mini a PPC first generation system. I think you mis-stated your memory (RAM) @ 1mb, which should probably say 1gb. If you had 1mb it'd be a massive downgrade and your system most certainly wouldn't run.
That being the case, you'd have the ATI Radeon 9200 32mb built in video card. That card uses it's own discreet video memory, and is actually a bit better than the early Intel GMA950 integrated video.
You thus meet the specs for Google Earth, but it's probably not going to run all that quickly on the system, mainly because of the relatively slow processor. The main snag would be the load time, as it loads slowly even on my Intel mini. I've not tried it on this PPC mini, but it should work - just don't expect crisp video game play type results. The flight simulator in Google Earth is not really meant to be a full video game though, so you may find the performance adequate.

  • [SOLVED] Google Earth signal 11 again

I'm getting the now infamous 'signal 11' error when trying to run Google Earth.
I've tried the suggestions in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=114992 with no luck and also reinstalling GE and all its dependencies.
Does anyone have any more ideas I can try?
System is i686 with nvidia graphics.  Crash log is at http://pastebin.com/W4X4AgXd
    Many thanks,
    David Shaw
Last edited by dtmc (2013-01-02 22:28:37)

I was caught out by "GE has caught signal 11" a couple of days ago (using nouveau driver with nvidia hardware). I don't have any .drirc or dri file (as mentioned in old thread 114992). However, I copied librarian.launchpad.net/7037027/libGL.so.1 into the directory /opt/google/earth/free/, and this got GE working, although the video quality wasn't so good. Then I installed ia32-libs in my copy of debian in virtualbox, then copied /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1.2 from there, as libGL.so.1, back to arch to replace the one from launchpad.net. GE is now working perfectly.
I don't really understand any of the above. This is my 2nd installation, on a separate drive, but otherwise using the same hardware as the first, which was done using the official media. This one is from releng.archlinux.org, 2012/04/10_04, netinstall, x86_64. On the first, I couldn't get alsa to work and had to use oss for sound. With this one, alsa worked out the box, which is very nice. However, in addition to this google earth thing, I had significant trouble configuring an automatic wireless connection, and a problem with my samba server.
    Oops - I had failed to install lib32-nouveau-dri !!!

  • No ping / traceroute / google earth since Pacman Syu today

    Hello,
I did a pacman -Syu this morning as I do most days.  To be honest I can't recall precisely what was updated (kernel headers, glibc not sure what else - sorry).  I am now finding that while I can surf the web / be on IRC / dowload my e-mails - some things are broken.  I am not sure if they are related, but they were all working very recently. I use pan for usenet and it is giving me "no such process" when trying to contact my news server.  whois is giving "Temporary failure in name resolution", ping and traceroute are is giving "unknown host" on everything, and google earth "cannot contact  authentication server".
I have not done anthing to my network settings or router, and other boxes using it can still (eg) ping out.
I am nervous about trying a reboot in case I lose the connectivity I have, because I really need this box functional on the net at the moment.
I am baffled.  Any ideas please?
Added by way of edit : - I had both Firefox and Opera open. I tried closing Opera and on restarting it cannot connect to the net. I suppose that I will lose connectivity with other applications if I close them.
Second edit : So I got my head out of my rear sufficiently to read the pacman.log. Todays upgrades were :
[2008-12-16 10:15] starting full system upgrade
    [2008-12-16 10:28] upgraded kernel-headers (2.6.26.3-1 -> 2.6.27.6-2)

I don't know what could cause this apart from glibc.
I am also wondering whether this is the related to the issue metalforever reported earlier today with his "transient resolver failure"
It makes no difference to run as root btw.
Last edited by perseus (2008-12-16 17:56:35)

I found that the problem was a DNS one.  ping etc worked if I fed it IP addresses instead of domain names.  I am using pdnsd, which seemed to be working so far as I could tell.  The daemon was running and "pdnsd-ctl dump" output the contents of what seems to be a valid cache.  I changed /etc/resolv.conf to stop using pdnsd temporarily and my DNS came back.
I still don't have the faintest idea why this problem has arisen.  I am too busy to try taking it any further at the moment.  Maybe I should cross-post this in the networking forum.

  • Google Earth-3d Warehouse

    Hello,
I am an architect using Archicad Graphisoft. They have an application called Google Earth Connections. This allows import and export of 3d information to Google Earth.
I would like to use this, however it is only available for Windows. Graphisoft has informed us that this is an Apple issue. They do not provide enough public input on the the Google 3d warehouse runs.
Does anyone know about this issue, and when or if Apple will support the Google Earth 3d warehouse in the future?
