Connecting i-pod classic to windows xp

I am trying to connect my new i-pod classic to the computer. I have i-tunes downloaded etc. However, even though I am the "administrator" I cannot get past the softwear license agreement. Can anyone help?

Are you seeing a Continue button anywhere? Click the little Agree box then the Continue button (there's no need to save the agreement). If you aren't seeing all the buttons try increasing your screen resolution to at least 1024x768 so you can see the whole page: iTunes window does not display all options

*I have recently purchased a mac book and wish to connect my i pod to this computor but because of windows format it wished to delete the library when sync,*
It's not giving that message because it's Windows formatted (Macs can read Windows formatted iPods). You are getting the message because an iPod can only sync with one library at a time (Sync is just short for syncronise). When your iPod is is set to sync with iTunes it automatically picks up any changes you made in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to iTunes will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync". You are trying to sync to a new (possibly empty) iTunes library.
If you simply want to continue using the iPod without syncing (and losing the contents) then change it to manual management. When you connect and get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel".
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone

  • Connection I Pod Classic to I Mac

I have just transferred my library from a PC to my new I Mac & re-set my IPOD classic to Mac setting. The IPOD works fine in automatic sync mode. However, when set to manual management the IPOD contents do not show up in the main window although all of the playlists appear in the sidebar. The main window gives the ipod details but under "music" merely shows a list of playlists. This is not a major disaster, but I have a joint library with my girlfriend and want to remove her music from my IPOD whilst leaving it in the library, and I can't do this without the song listing. If I try & delete in the playlist "most recently added" I cannot access "delete" The listing worked previously on the PC so it is not a fault with the IPOD. Any suggestions gratefully received ?

If my IPOD is reformatted to MAC & all my music is stored on a PC, how will I then be able to transfer it over ? Surely the IPOD will only load from the PC if it is PC formatted ?
If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 or MacDrive (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod which it cannot do without.
You can however use a Windows formatted iPod on a Mac without any such software (because Macs are smart like that).

  • What cable do I need to connect an i-pod classic to a Boze Wave machine?

What cable do I need to connect an I-pod classic to a Boze wave machine?

If you're trying to transfer the music, from the Nano to the Air, you have to either download your purchased songs again in the purchased tab of iTunes or sync them to the Air, using iTunes on your computer.
Its been a few years since I've used a Nano, but IIRC, the only way to get the music on the device to begin with is by syncing with iTunes, so the songs have to be in your iTunes library.

  • Hi there, I have a problem with my iPod Classic (from 2009). Everytime I connect it to my computer (Windows), iTunes does not work anymore. Music is automatically deleted on my iPod. Any suggestions please?

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

  • If I have an i-pod classic and format it for windows, will all the original music be erased?, If I have an i-pod classic and format it for windows, will all the original music be erased?

If I have an i-pod classic and format it for windows for my new Dell laptop, will the original music on it be erased?

Yes, but if the device is formatted for Mac then you'll either need a Mac or an HFS+ driver for Windows (try hfsexplorer) to extract the data from it. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for some ideas on recovery. The manual method listed at the bottom of the table and the driver should be enogh if you only need the media and aren't worried about ratings, play counts and playlists.

  • Solution to ipod classic connection and sync problems in windows xp

Was having problems syncing and copying songs to my 80 GB classic on windows xp. Itunes would become unresponsive etc. Turns out these issues were related to a program called res.exe which is part of a usb mass storage toobox, which does not appear to be essential to windows.
In add/remove programs, I uninstalled "USB Mass Storage Toolbox", and my ipod classic now syncs as it should.

  • TS1538 My I-pod Classic is not showing up in I-tunes, but my I-pod nano does. What do I need to fix this?

When I connect my I-pod classic it automatically says its connected in the Classics window, but does not appear in I-Tunes. I have tried removing the old I tunes program and re-installing the newest version, I have done the toggle the hold button reset trick, and nothing. But when I plug in my nano it sync's the connects and shows up in I-Tunes. So that tells me my cord is good and the USB I am using is good. Any help would be great.. Thanks

    1) Plug in the USB then the 21 pin dock connector to your Classic while iTunes isn't open and if your computer makes a little du du noise it means its installing the iPods Device software and should work once its finished
    2) Try using a different USB port or cord and see if that makes a difference
3)Contact Apple directly by phone and there support line is here http://www.apple.com/contact/

  • My i-Pod classic is no longer listed as a device & cannot sync.

I have an i-Pod classic (click-wheel) that works just fine.  I recently transferred my i-Tunes to a new Windows computer, successfully.  I just tried to sync my i-Pod and found that my i-Pod is not listed as one of my authorized devices - therefore it won't sync.  I removed the former computer from the list, but not my i-Pod.  How can I get my i-Pod back on that list of devices - there is no "add a device" icon...  When I called support, they just tried to charge me more money to investigate the problem.  How hard is it to simply put my device (that I already paid money for...) back on my list, as it was in August before I got the new computer?  I am starting to feel like they are forcing me to purchase a new i-Pod.... not cool for the customer.

My Itunes locks when I connect my Ipod classic.  I have the latest version of Itunes as of 10/31/11.  Anyone have any fixes?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Does the iPod appear in iTunes when you have it connected via a USB port?
If so, have you done all the troubleshooting here?

  • I Pod classic not appearing in i tunes

When I plug in my I pod Classic 80g the follwing error message occurs:
There might be a problem with some of the files on this device or disk. This can happen if you remove the device or disk before all the files have been written to it.
    Scan & Fix (recommended)
    Continue without scanning.
I have tried clicking both options, but although a scan appears to start, the dialogue box disappears and nothing happens. I have tried the "5 Rs" but am unable to restore as the device is not shown in I Tunes.
I also have an i phone which I have no issues connecting to the same laptop & itunes, so would appear to be an issue with the i pod?
Any ideas would be appreciated as I am at a loss with this...
    Thanks abs

I have the ipod classic 120gig and am having the same problem. Just started today. I even tried Media Monkey and can't get it to recognize my ipod. Still searching the discussion groups for a fix.

Assuming you have windows, try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.
