Connecting iChat AV with D-Link Video phone

Anyone have hints as to how to connect an iMac running OSX 10.4.10 and iChat AV 3.1.8 (v445) to a D-Link DVC 1000 set up with a TV interface?
I'm trying to connect the family Mac to my deaf sister-in-law's home video phone.
Thanks so much

Hi,
It is unlikely to work with iChat as it most likely uses different protocols.
Have a look in this list http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html
iChat uses H264 and H263 as the video codec.
How it actually connects to another iChat or AIM Pc user if another set of Protocols.
Other Video conferencing apps use H323 and you may need to look at apps that can do that.
Start with looking at OphoneX

  • Having difficulty connecting apple tv with amazon instant video

II'm having difficulty connecting apple tv with amazon instant video or it won't stay connected. Help!

Is it naive of me to think that Apple should simply provide a portal on their Apple TV menu for me to access my Amazon Instant Video movies?
Maybe a little.  Amazon is a direct competitor, so it is not really in Apple's best interest to go out of its way to add support for a competing service that will cause Apple to lose money.  The bigger problem though is all of these video services using DRM to encrypt their content and lock it away from consumers so we can only watch content we pay for on certain devices.  Compaired to before when you could buy a DVD and watch it on any TV.  Now when you buy content you can only using it on a few specific devices.
Is their failure to do so about an Amazon/Apple rivalry, or because the two have to make some kind of deal before this can happen
They are competitors, but a bigger issue is that it is an incredibility complex legal agreement they would have to work out.  First there are legal agreements that would have to be worked out with literally thousands of copyright holders to distribute their content.  Then there is the software licenncing since Apple and Amazon would have to disclose how their DRM encrption works, then there are pateint agreements that can be worth billions that have to be worked out.  And all of that work would be so that they support a competator.  So there is not a lot motivating them to do something that would cost a lot of money and time.
If watching Amazon content is really your major priority you might want to return your ATV and get a Roku.

  • Can I run an app on USB flash connected to router with storage link?

    Hello,
I'm considering purchasing the E2100L wireless router with storage link.  When a client with a specific MAC address joins the network, I want to run a script which makes an ftp connection and puts a file from the USB flash to the client.  Is it possible to run a Linux bash script from the USB flash drive to perform this task automatically?

Not possible. Check 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt.

  • Connecting iPhone 5 with MacBookPro (for making phone calls)

    Hi,
I would like to know, if it is possible, to accept incoming calls on my iphone 5-number on the macbook and making calls on the mac via the iphone?
Is there an App or any programme or even an onboard-solution to realize this?
I am really an amateur in computer things so I need when it is possible a really step-by-step-description. I couldnt even connect my iPhone with the Mac via Bluetooth.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

    No you cant,
    But you can use facetime

  • Problems connecting to WPA2 with D-Link DIR655 router

I've searched around online and on these forums and I am finding that other people are having similar problems with connecting their iPhone or iPod to the wireless network. However, none of the answers seem to be dead-on solutions and the problem appears to be intermittent.
    DIR-655 hardware A4 firmware 1.32NA
    iPhone 3Gs firmware 3.1.2
I have set up the DIR-655 broadcasting my SSID, using 802.11g and 802.11n with WPA2 Personal and auto encryption type. (I have tinkered with changing all the WPA2 encryption type combos with no improvement.) All of my other devices are able to connect except for the two iPhones that we own.
The phones see the SSID and ask for the password. I provided the proper 10-letter passphrase (not hex characters) and it accepted it an placed a check mark next to the network SSID as if all was good. But it never connected.
I was investigating the settings in the router when I discovered that ALL 100 of the DHCP address were being used. I saw the first 5 devices that I had connected earlier in the day and their MAC addresses and lease times were all proper. The other 95 entries were listed as:
    Hardware Address - 00:00:00:00:00:00
    Assigned IP - 192.168.0.xxx
    Expires - Never
And this was despite the fact that the lease expiration time was set to 1440 minutes in the configuration. (These settings and DHCP listings are found on the Setup -> Network Settings page.) So I began clicking "Revoke" on these crazy entries and I saw more taking the place as quickly as I revoked them.
What was happening was that the iPhone was attempting to connect and would initially be given a proper lease with the MAC address, IP and lease time of 24 hours. However somewhere in the authentication it would flip over to 00:00:00:00:00:00 and NEVER expiring. It then would try again in a few seconds and use up another IP address. It got to the point where all the DCHP IPs were used up and unavailable to any other devices.
I think this might also explain the behavior that others are seeing when they state they have to power-cycle their router every 24 hours because their laptops are not able to get an IP address assigned.
For the life of me, I can not think of why the router would freak out and put all zeros into the MAC address and change the expiration date of the lease to Never.

    OK, open System Preferences/Network
Location: [New Location] and give it a name
Show: [Network Port Configurations] drag Airport to the top and uncheck all others
    Show: [Airport]
Airport tab - set [By default join] to Preferred networks
In the pop-down select the D-Link network (and remove any others if there)
TCP/IP tab - set [Configure ipV4] to Using DHCP
    Click [Apply Now] bottom right
You should get an IP number allocated by the router ...

  • Need help.. Question about connectivity of PS2 with Creative A2ZS Video Edit

Hi everyone, i have question regarding creative A2ZS video editor.. please forgive me for my innocent question since im new here..
I own a Play Station 2.. can this video editor allow me to connect my PS2 and show the display on the monitor so that i can play my PS2 game on the monitor? it's like functioning like a VGA box.. thanks!Message Edited by nicholas_23 on 05-9-200709:46 AM

If you hook the standard analog video outputs of the PS2 (the ones that would go to the TV) into the Video Editor and get into the VidCap applet (free download from the Creative Website), drag the Preview window so its full screen, then you can use your laptop or desktop as a "TV".

  • Connecting to internet with PowerBook via bluetooth phone

I have bluetooth in my PowerBook and I want to be able to use a bluetooth phone to connect to the internet when I am away from home. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good bluetooth phone to use or any suggestions? I have Verizon as my service provider.

    Hello
I haven't tried this, but found this on the net, which requires some additional scripts for the Mac for the Motorola Razr phone.

What is doesn't say is whether it works on Mac OS 10.2 or not.

Sorry to respond that your post is vague.
Did you do a reset to factory?  It takes a day or a few days for a BB10 device to finish sync'ing and indexing and so forth after a wipe or an OS reinstall or upgrade.   If performance is subpar, give it another day to see if it improves.
On the last, I may not understand.  I believe you are saying you are connecting to the device with Link and the computer mounts  the microSD card as a drive but not the device's onboard memory.  Do you have mass storage mode enabled?   If so, disable mass storage mode and try again.

  • IChat with D-Link 1000 or Netmeeting?

Howdy! I have recently purchased a brand new MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM and 120 GB HD. One of the main reasons why I purchase this laptop was its ability to do video conferencing. Since I am deaf, I communicate with other users via video conferencing.
Now my question is this... how do I use iChat to connect with D-Link 1000 (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=8) or Microsoft Netmeeting? In order to do that, you will need to "dial" the user's IP address to establish video conferencing. I can't seem to find a way to make that happen.
If this is not possible, are there any software out there that will allow me to "dial" an IP address?
    --DeafMan
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Howdy, again!
I found the software that will allow me to dial IP address to connect with Netmeeting, D-Link 1000, VP-100, and the like. The software is called "xMeeting" by sourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xmeeting). I have used this program a few times so far, and it function pretty much like iChat.
So, for all Deaf Mac users, try this out!

  • My ichat will let me send video chats requests, but it will not let me accept them. What should i do? Also, sometimes it tells me i cannot add a 2nd or 3rd person to an existing chat because it is connected to AOL's relay servers. What does this mean?

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.

  • Error -8 message (can't connect with audio or video, text OK)

I've tried to exhaust all the resources online, but so far have had little success.
I'm getting an Error -8 message whenever I try to establish a video (or audio) chat with any of the three Apple test accounts. I've opened the ports recommended by:
    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netopia/3347NWG/iChat.htm
I'm actually trying to get my father-in-law's account up and running so the only details I have about the ISP is that it's Bluewin based in Switzerland so I'm not sure about VoIP details. I could probably find out if necessary. Also, I've already switched to port 443 to log on.
Here's sort of a funny little detail. I've also brought my 12-inch PowerBook G4 with me which I know works back in the states. I get almost the same error as the iMac, but with more details. The only difference is that the iMac doesn't have any details in the following categories:
    Video Conference Report:
    Video Conference Support Report:
    Video Conference User Report:
I think I've covered all the bases. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The details of the error log are listed below (BTW, changed account info to "********" for security).
    Thanks, in advance,

    Video Conference User Report:

    Hi Ralph,
Well, the Leopard update is installed (10.5.1) and still no luck with iChat 4.0. Still using UPnP through the Netopia 3347NWG, not port forwarding. I have to admit I'm still a little clumsy finding my way through the new OS, but I've done the adjustments to the Mac firewall and I'm sure I have a little more "homework" to do. Unfornately, I'm leaving for home tomorrow, so I thought I'd a least give you an update.
The new error message is as follows. Any additional troubleshooting will have to be done over the phone with my father-in-law at this point.
    Happy New Year, BTW.
    Patiently awaiting your thoughts.

Sorry Godov but I cant help.
shajilal, if youre using VZWireless then you would need VZ Access Manager to tether your BB.  You also have to make sure that the tethering feature is turned on (paid for).

  • Video Phone only works when specific user initiates connection

    Hi,
I have an application based on the Cirrus Video phone demo as presented here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cirrus/samples/
In general, this works fine, but for one specific user with whom I test, I have the following issue:
When I initate the call, we are paired together by Cirrus, but his video/audio does not transmit to me. He can however see and hear me just fine.
When he initaites the call, everything works fine.
I'm concerned that this is an issue re. NAT/Firewall setup on standard home broadband connections, in that UDP is allowed through his firewall when the firewall sees that the connection has been initiated by him.
I'm a web developer, rather than a Flash developer, and I'm just looking for a few leads so that I can investigate this.
    G

    My application works as follows:
User1 (me) askes User2 (friend) if they would like to speak via AJAX text chat system
When User2 confirms that they would like to do this:
    User1 browser loads Flash app
Flash app connects and obtains session key from cirrus
Flash app writes that session key to database
    User2 browser loads Flash app
Flash app checks DB to see if session key exists
If not, it waits, and check again in 10 secs
When session key is finally found, Flash app connects to cirrus
Cirrus now exchanges network data between clients, and P2P connection is established
Call is placed from User2 to User1
    User1 answers
Video and audio transmission starts from User1, and is received by User2
No Video and audio transmission is received by User1 from User2 (text chat over Cirrus is however possible)
All of this works in the majority of cases with other users, and when the roles are reversed, it also works.
The only time it doesn't work, it when I try to call my friend.
The behaviour described above can be seen in both my app, and the sample provided by Adobe at:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cirrus/samples/
I hear what you are saying about RTMFP, but it really doesn't look like a coding problem, unless that problem also exists in the Adobe demo.

  • NO audio from laptop speaker when phone connected to Bluetooth with media audio checked

Hey guys, when I connect my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII (SGS3) phone through my Toshiba Qosmio x875-Q7280 Windows 7 X64 Bluetooth with media audio checked on my SGS3; for what ever reason there is no audio playing through the speaker when I try to listen to my music and for what ever reason I notice in the recoding tab under Sound my SGS3 profile mic audio bar was moving up and down. When I went in to configure it, I click a check box which played the music that I was playing through the laptop speaker but it sounded all muffled. If anyone can help would very much appreciate it.

Just wanted to update just incase someone else is have this same problem also, so I manage to solve this on my own my installing a bluetooth driver from Intel. I'm not sure if link posting is allow, so I'll just direct you there. If you google Intel and navigate to their download center, search for Intel® PROSet/Wireless Bluetooth Software for Windows 7* it should have two choice 32 bit and 64 bit. After it finish installing there should be another bluetooth icon in your bottom right tray. Next right click the bluetooth icon and add a new device as you would any other and enable media audio from your connected device (in this case it would be my Samsung Galaxy S 3) and you should be good to go with music or what ever sound coming out through the laptop speaker.
