  • Air card on Imac. Set up & share internet wirelessly with  Nintendo Wii.

I have tried to set up without success, connecting my iMac,s air card internet connection with a new Nintendo Wii. I have at one point got the Wii to recognize some connection signal (name of my iMac) but no through connection to internet with air card online.
Unfortunately, I have changed several settings on my iMac in the bluetooth and airport setups so it is not at the same starting point as original.
FYI I have an airport extreme also, which has never been utilized but is a recognized network on my MAC.

Your AirPort Extreme should be connected to the internet via the modem or whatever your ISP provides. The Mac and Wii connect to the AirPort, either wirelessly or via ethernet cables. When set up this way, your Mac will have nothing to do with connecting your Wii to the internet.
I hope this video will help:

  • WRT110 with Nintendo Wii

I have the Linksys WRT110 wireless N router, and I cannot seem to connect my Nintendo Wii to the internet through the router.  When I search for my access point, my router does not pop up...I can see neighbors' connections but not mine.  I am able to find my router with my desktop, various laptops, and wifi phones/ipods so it is only a problem connecting to the Wii.  I have searched a little bit tonight online, and other people have had the same problem with this router; however, I was not able to find anyone posting solutions to the problem.  Thus, I am wondering if anyone here has this same router and has found a solution in connecting the Wii?

The Wii is wireless B and G mode capable, so be sure your router is not set for wireless N only.  Your router is set to mixed mode by default, so that might not be your issue.
I've read that the Wii sometimes has problems detecting networks running in certain modes.  You might want to experiment by temporarily setting your router to wireless B or G only.
You might also need to consider updating your routers firmware if you don't already have the latest version.

  • Connecting iMac with iPhone 3GS

I'm having trouble getting my iMac to connect with my iPhone 3GS. Neither will even recognize the other. Can someone help?
    Thank you!

Same problem here with an iPhone 3G and iMac and iBook.
Not living in US I am indeed able to Tethering Internet with Bluetooth. At least I suppose, because my iPhone asked for it few time but I never did it.
I feel frustrating if the function of Bluetooth on an iPhone is locked to do that only.
Then I would say Bluetooth is much more easy to use for a short document transfer (like a single picture) then Sync which has anyway an other goal.
I find the Sync function via iTunes far from satisfactorily. It still impossible a.e to choose a direction for the Sync function. In consequences, most of the time, some data will be erased though you want to keep it too.
By putting unjustified limits Apple encourage the jailbreak.

  • Connecting iMac with Mac OS X Tiger to an HPC with Windows CE via modem

    Hi,
I have an iMac G3 DV 400MHZ with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.6 and a Compaq C140 HPC with Windows CE 1.0. I dont have the original serial cable for the device and therefore cant connect it to my iMac (like its Mac compatible anyway!) I want to connect it to my iMac via modems (no not ethernet modems the antique modems with the phone wires!) so I can transfer files to it. In case you have never heard of an HPC or Windows CE (which is real similar to Windows 95) lets pretend Im trying to connect a Windows 95 PC to my iMac for file transfer and see if that works.
    Thanks

Try posting this under hardware section, you will get more response there. I doubt anyone here can help with that.

  • Trouble recognizing scanner when Officejet Pro is on network connection. iMac with OS X 10.8

I am considering replacing my Officejet Pro 8500 because the scanner is not recognized when the device on connected on the network.  Printer is recognized and works fine, but scanner is not recognized from my iMac (OSX 10.8.2).  I have the latest HP software driver installed.
However, the printer AND scanner work fine from another iMac (OSC 10.6) on the same network.
Is there a problem with the driver when running under OSX 10.8?  Could it be that the driver is not installed correctly in the iMac running OSX 10.8 (I've installed the new driver twice).  Could this be resolved by returning the 8500 printer (covered under 3rd party warranty) and buying an Officejet Pro 8600?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    AMacGuy ...
Thanks for the reply.  The printer is the A910 version.
I am trying to scan from either the HP utility or from the Mac <system preferences> <Print & Scan> function.
When using the HP scan app, the scanner is not recognized.  When using the Print/Scan function in System Preferences, the little window that comes up shows the HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910, but there is no Print/Scan tab at the top.
The printer works fine.  The scanning funcction will not work (initiated from the Mac), whether connected by wireless or ethernet.  When the printer is installed by USB cable, it works fine (print and scan functions).
Note: Connected on the network, if I access the printer by typing the local IP address in the web browser, both the print and scan functions work fine.  Also, the print AND scan functions work fine from another iMac on the network - this iMac (my wife's) is running OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard.
I have talked to an Apple Care supervisor (very helpful), and we have uninstalled all HP drivers and apps, repaired disk permissions, removed all HP software using Disk Utility, then re-installed the HP driver pack from hp.com.
The problem seems to be due to OSX 10.8 and the drivers on the OSX 10.8 Mac when the printer is connected by network (wireless or ethernet).
Any ideas?  I have been authorized by a 3rd party warranty service (through Office Depot) to return the printer for a refund (now almost 2 yrs old).  Should I just return the printer and buy an Officejet 8600, or would this just have the same problem?   I have also considered switching to an Epson WF 3540, just in case the problem is with HP's driver software.
Any ideas before I just return the printer to the warranty company?
    Thanks.

  • Any tips to connect IMac with Memorex external DVD recorder

Has anyone connected an external memorex DVD recorder (MRX-510LE) to an IMac using firewire or USB? Trying to burn CD's for Itunes and DVDs ...
does not recognize hardware...can't find drivers......
    thanks

    Hi ellejay,
    welcome to the discussions.
Try Patchburn - http://www.patchburn.de/ Works a treat with almost all "unsupported" burners.
You could also consider simply updating to a more recent version of Tiger, as support for additional external burners has been added in the later revisions.
    Cheers

  • Cannot connect iMac with Mini

iMac & Mac Mini will not connect through wifi network to share files etc. Doesn't even appear under devices when both computers are on.
iMac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard 21.5inch screen (late 2009)
    Mac Mini Lion (early 2012)
I don't think the operating systems would cause a problem.
    Sharing settings that are on:
    DVD & CD
    Screen
    File
    Printer
    Internet
Please can someone give me some advice.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry for delayed response, ok so File sharing is on and public folders are selected on both computers.
I got a new router and now the Mac Mini is showing under "Shared" in Finder & only appeared once on my iMac but connection failed. Screen sharing is turned on on both Mac's.
This may help: Plex Media Server is on my Mac Mini, I can connect to the server with my iPhone but not my iMac.
Slowly realising now that the issue is with my iMac. Would using a different OSX cause a problem like this though!

  • Connecting iMac with 10.5 and mac-mini in ethernet network

Just bought an older Mac Mini for in the house stuff (our office is next to the house). Had to forego wireless because of distance and walls.
So, we are connected with ethernet cable, and a Linksys router in the house that connects to the modem/router in the office.
I have configured and configured and I cannot get the two macs to let me do anything except see each other. They do see each other, but that is all. When I try to connect I get nothing or I get "The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again."
The IP on both units when I look at the network IP address is 192.168.x.xx - but after they differ.
The mac mini uses 10.4 - while the iMac is on 10.5.

If I set the router - as you said, what do I do to do that?
    What exact Brand/Model is it?
Will setting it differently effect that?
It shouldn't, though you'd likely have to power cycle things to have them pick up the new settings.
If I go the second route, am I only changing the subnet mask? I wrote earlier that when I try to configure that, I don't see an option for changing the subnet mask. So, how do I do that?
Yes, just the Subnet Mask, but copy down the IP & Router numbers of each first, because when you click on Using DHCP & choose Manual instead, you have to fill in all 3, put the old IP & Router numbers back in but the new Subnet Mask.
If anything goes wrong, just change back to Using DHCP & renew the lease.

  • Minijack-to-30pin-adaptor : connecting imac with "the dock" scandyna?

    hi
i bought pair of micropods by scandyna and "the dock" by scandyna
they gave me a minijack to minijack cable to connect my imac to "the dock"
but "the dock" doesnt habe a linein, only an ipod line level 30pin connector input.
could i buy an adaptor which connects my imac through "minijack-to-30pin connector"
otherwise i havent the faintest idea how to connect my 2 micropods to my imac 24" glossy.
    thanks

purepeter, you don't seem to understand the products which you have purchased. The Dock is designed to integrate with your iPod only. It is not designed to integrate with your iMac in any way.
The Dock allows you to use your iPod as a home music system, totally apart from your iMac.. It comes with inserts which allow it to work with different iPod generations and models; it will recharge your iPod battery and give you remote control use of the iPod functions, which is why it has the 30 pin connector. You then build your own system of choice to use with the Dock with the selection of speakers and subwoofers available. If you have a Video iPod, you can get the vDock, which allows you to also connect to an external video display.
As far as adding new music, videos, etc, to your iPod, or updating the software, you would need to use the USB dock/cable that came with it to connect to your iMac.
If you were looking for external speakers for your iMac, you could add the Micropods alone, without the Dock, with the adapter cables Dave Sawyer is mentioning, but I don't think that the manufacturer had that in mind for their use.

  • How to connect Digital Optical Audio output iMac with Receiver Input

I have connected iMac with onkyo hts-3300 home theater system receiver through optical audio TosLink Cable.( http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Audio-TosLink-Cable/dp/B001ZU3G2I/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&qid=1292865309&sr=8-2 ). Unfortunately there is no sound coming out from the Home theater system. I have verified the Receiver optical input is working fine by connecting with my TV optical audio digital out put and the it's working great. The only difference between TV and iMac is, on my TV, it has optical audio digital output and I can use this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-A102-02M-Digital-connectors/dp/B0002WPREU/ref=s r11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297320792&sr=1-1) to make it work. I can also verified my optical audio TosLink Cable working because I can see the red light coming out from the cable. So the only problem could be from iMac. I doubt I need to change the additional setting to configure iMac to use external optical audio setting instead of the buit in audio setting. Hoe can I able to do it? or my iMac(IMAC 21.5"/3.06/2X2GB/500GB/9400M-ITP
MB950ZP/A) doesn't support optical digital audio out put? I have follow this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12769423&#12769423 and to my surprise which doesn't work out for me. I doubt that i need to change some setting, but when I got to setting>> sound I cannot change any setting. I was quite depressed aldy. Can someone answer my question as i m a newbie here. Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your reply.
@Király : May i know how to Open Audio Midi Setup? Is this Audio Midi Setup is in the locatated in the Setting in Mac Snow Leapord OS? or how to locate this "Audio Midi Setup " in Mac enviroment. Is it possible to open this Audio Midi Setup in windows 7 enviroment also? I Just want to get the audio from my iMac in Hts-3300 onkyo home theatre. YOur help is much appreciated
@rkaufmann87 : Thank you very much for your sharing about this http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ connection. for me what i understand is the digital audio output in airportexpress is the same as the audio out put in iMac in terms of details sepcs. So this airportexpress will only help you connect wirelessly to home theatre system, rather than waired connection. Other than that nothig much difference. So there is no point for me to spend extra bucks to attain the wireless connection. Unless the airportexpress have optical digital input, which i believe not. Correct me if I m worng, thanks

  • Sharing internet connection with powerbook and nintendo wii through airport

i have been trying to share my internet connection from my imac to my powerbook and nintendo wii. i've been unable to accomplish neither. i've opened the sharing preferences, chosen "share your connection from built in ethernet" which is how my imac is connected to the internet, and then chosen "to computers using airport". if i then set my airport options to automatic channel, encryption using 40 bit wep and set a 5 character password as it says if you "plan to share your internet connection with non-apple computers", (and then turn internet sharing on) shouldn't i be able to connect either/both my powerbook and my nintendo wii? or is it necessary to have some other piece of hardware or go through some other steps?
thanks in advance for any help.

I got a macbook for college and I had the same problem with connecting my Wii to the macbook's connection. But lo and behold, the internet's a wonderful place! I tried this out (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515) and it worked! I'm not sure about the powerbook bit though, sorry. Hope it works for you too.
