Connecting iPad 2 to multiple iTunes/Computers

Hi, I'm new here. I was wondering how to connect my iPad 2 to multiple iTunes accounts on different computers, without accidentally deleting my library files already on my iPad or having iTunes sync to a computer I don't want it to.
I set the option in iTunes so that my iPad will only sync what I have checked, and also the option that tells it to not automatically sync as soon as it connects to my personal computer's iTunes program.
So I guess I am wondering if the custom settings I used on the iTunes program on my home computer will register on a different computer's iTunes program and a different iTunes account.
Will another person's iTunes account/program still be able to pick up the custom settings I have for my own iTunes account? Since iTunes recognizes my iPad's name, and all that, I was thinking it might. But, I wanted to check before connecting to a different computer and accidentally deleting my old (original) library again.
Thanks so much for any help!
              -Michelle

No matter how you configure iTunes on each computer, the iPad can only sync with one iTunes library.
If you try to sync content from computer "A" after you have been syncing with computer "B", the content from computer "B" will be erased when you sync with computer "A".
You can't select content from multiple iTunes libraries to sync with an iDevice - no matter how you configure iTunes on each computer.

  • Multiple itunes computers

    Hello,
I have a wireless setup at home with multiple Windows XP computers. I currently have iTunes on just one computer but would like to load it on 2 others if possible. Can this be done with iTunes? Please send as much detail as possible. Thank you.
    Tom

The key is to just manually manage both computers,
Don't leave it on "auto", select manually manage...
    No problems.
I'd create playlists to make it easier.

Yes, if you are referring to the Apple Digital AV Adapter.

  • How to change the ipad's name in iTunes

When i connect ipad to PC, the iTunes gives it the name as " "My PC Account" 's ipad" automatically.
For the reason of facility management, I need to change the ipad's name which appear at iTunes.
    How to fix it?

It doesn't work for me. In iTunes I renamed my iPad, then sync it with ipad. After disconnecting and then reconnecting the device, only old name appears in iTunes. It seems the change of name is volatile! Can anyone help? Thanks.

  • My Ipad has locked with Itunes logo and cable displayed on a black screen.    Cant do anything

My Ipad has locked on a black screen with only the Itunes music logo together  with an arrow and a cable white photo display.    Turning it on and off achieves nothing, only the Itunes circle and cable appear each time.     What can I do to rectify?

I uploaded iOS 7 and the ipad came up with a black screen with pictures of iTunes logo and power cord.  It wouldn't turn off or respond to any actions.  A terrifying moment.  I followed some suggestions from these discussions, connected iPad to Macbook with iTunes open and prayed.  It took 3 separate times to completely reset the iPad, because of several "errors" that would occur throughout the lengthy process.  This necessity to completely reset my iPad (and it is very shakily alive now, I fear) was a direct result of uploading the new OS.  I am furious.  What is going on with Apple?  I see this has happened to people for quite a while now.  Good Lord.

Hi I had a similar issue to you, I could connect to the router but no internet. Here is my explanation of how I sorted it.....I hope this works for you.
*To anyone that is reading this it appears that the problem lay in the airport setting: IPV6: set to 'Automatically'. I turned it off (after reading someones plight on MacFixIt) & everything is back to normal.*
*The worrying thing is although my problem was extreme with other computers on the network being locked out nothing was changed, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Reading on other forums it appears to be a problem with laptops (but I could be mistaken). A lot of people on the Macfixit forum are complaining of network just dropping out even when they are next to the router.*
*I hope this is the fix (although I dont know why it suddenly went to sh*t!) & I hope my hair pulling & trawling the forums can help someone else out.*
    Much Respect

  • Started with iPod/iTunes (home pc) several years ago. Added iPhone, iPad, laptop and office pc.  Have multiple iTunes/iMusic folders

Started out with iPod/iTunes on a home pc several years ago. Added iPhone, iPad, laptop and office pc.  Have multiple iTunes/iMusic folders on all 3 computers -- using iCloud to access media on iPhone/iPad.  What's the best way consolidate songs, movies, books, etc prior to phasing out home pc?  Which machine (laptop or office pc) is best to use as the master host for iTunes/iMusic going forward? Don't want to lose anything or create numerous duplicates.

I finally resolved this... by changing everything over to a new laptop.  I had been running iTunes on a Vista desktop, and moved Outlook and iTunes to a Win7 x64 laptop.  Once I got everything installed, I copied the iTunes folder to the laptop, transferred the purchases, backed up the iPhone and iPad to the new iTunes, and then synched them.  Set iTunes to sync Calendar, Contacts, Mail, and Notes on both, and resynched.  Once this was done and I verified that everything was intact on both the iPhone and the iPad, I tried entering a calendar event on the phone and then did another sync.  The event showed up in Outlook.  I then deleted the event from Outlook and did another sync and the event was gone from the iPhone.  Did the same with the iPad and got the same results.  So this apparently was something related to the desktop or Vista; I never got it resolved on the desktop.  Not sure what it could be, but now that it's resolved I'm going to leave it alone.  Maybe after I upgrade to an iPhone 5, I might try messing with the iPhone 4s on the Vista desktop.  If I do, and happen to get it resolved, I'll surely post something regarding that.

  • I updated my software in my iPad, can't connect to App Store or iTunes, It says that I have to change to US account, right now I'm in Mexico, how can I change it to mu US account.

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

  • After upgrading to itunes 10.5, and connecting ipad 2, message appears " IPAD cannot be used it requires itunes 10.5 or later. Go to itunes store and download the latest version." I am windows xp user.

After upgrading to Itunes 10.5 and connecting the IPAD. I get a following message. How do I resolve this issue. There is no other way to download itunes to ipad other than the itunes on your computer or laptop. I am a windows xp user.

    Dear Mr. Sawyer,
To my surprise, the version is shown as 10.0.1.22. I will uninstall itunes and try loading the same again. After uninstalling do we need to delete any registry entries for Windows XP.
Thanks for your response and concern.

  • I want to use my iTunes library with multiple Windows computers

I want to put my entire iTunes library on a server and then allow any of the 4 - windows laptops, 1 - windows desktop, various iPods, an iPad 1, and a Samsung Tablet to gain access to use it.   3 of the laptops are Windows 8, the desktop and one laptop is Windows 7.      I don't mind having multiple iTunes accounts set up.  I just want to make sure that when a song is purchased or uploaded from a CD or whatever that it all goes into this central location so that everyone has access to it.   How do I make that happen?

    1. Yes you can do that.
    2. But you shouldn't.
    3. There's no need to anyway.

How can I tell which iPad downloaded an App when there are multiple iPads that share an iTunes account?

    Hello drkeeling
Try turning off automatic downloads, that way when someone downloads something, you can see it on that device.

  • How do you connect ipad 2 to itunes library using home sharing

How do you connect the ipad 2 to the itunes library using home sharing so you can listen on your ipad 2? I've seen directions for the ipad which tell you how to setup home sharing then open ipod and touch library in the left column, but when I hit library, nothing happens. I'm assuming the ipad 2 has something different about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
PS, the OS is 4.3.3 (just got it but it's not on the os list)

See iTunes 9- Understanding Home Sharing and iTunes- Troubleshooting Home Sharing.  Also, open iTunes, select iTunes Help from the Help menu and search for "home shar."

i tried for update but when i saw the screen its showing an arrow with a USB cable towards itunes icon, and now i'm not able to do anything, i also tried to connect ipad through my laptop but no use

That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. There was a problem with the update. So connect the iPad to your computer and restore your iPad.
You can read bout it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If that does not work you will need recovery mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Or you can follow these Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • IOS 7 Can no longer connect iPad to iTunes

Just installed IOS 7. Also, updated to new version of iTunes. Now, I cannot connect iPad 4 to iTunes. Also, I continually get message "Trust This Computer?" when  I try to connect iPad you iTunes even though I always answer Trust

I have the same problem. In fact when I plug in my iPad 2 updated to ios 7.0.4 I get that same message and it crashes my entire system - forcing me to reboot.
