Connecting ipad2 to TV

I would like to connect my ipad2 to my TV in order to watch BBC iplayer on a larger screen with more volume. I have asked a couple of people in shops and received different answers. My TV is a small and very ordinary Samsung but it has an HDMI socket as well as what I think is a USB socket. Can anyone help please.

Hi Beth,
So far as I can tell iPlayer will only work from your iPad over Airplay.
Your iPad 2 Just needs to be iOS 6.0 or above and you will need an updated Apple TV.
http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/mobile_tablet/airplay_ipad_activate
There seems to be no information that you might be able to connect physically (with a cable) as per advice above for this particular app.
If you have a WiFi network at home, I would suggest using the great return policy at your local Apple Store to test it out, you may even be able to have staff test Airplay with your iPad in the store beofre you buy.

  • Connecting ipad2 to internet.

i am having difficulty to connect ipad2 to internet.  tried all steps mentioned in support pages. The only way to make it work is switch on/off the router at home.  The sad thing is I am not able to make it work at starbucks or any other free Wi-fi places.  Any solutions pls?

Problem: not able to connect to internet
I keep getting error msg saying" unable to connect to internet, check your internet connection".  Right on top left corner next to ipad i see ALL BARS on the antenna.. but still not able to connect.  In settings - WiFI - I see teh network name (my home network, or starbucks, or borders).. but when i click on safari it says 'unable to connect to internet'.  Also here I see the task circle next to 'choose a network'  continously toggles between working and stopping all the time.
The only way i can get this ipad2 to work at home is -- do a hard reboot on the wireless router at home... then it starts to connect to the internet.  I have to do this everytime i loose the connection.  Obviously I cant do this at every public network.

How di I connect ipad2 to my Epson stylus nx330

The Epson NX330 is not an AirPrint printer.
To print directly from an iPad you will need an AirPrint compatible printer or another device to act as a print server. That can be a Mac computer running Printopia ($19.95 with free trial) or AirPrintActivator (free).
You can also buy this standalone print server:

I guess I should also note that sometimes it just crashes... just because.
    So, get to fixin'.

    Hello joe2616,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your Wi-Fi network is dropping, please follow the directions outlined below.
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    Hi there,

did you ever get any replies about this issue?

  • I m unable to connect ipad2 to apple tv

I cannot get iPad2  4.3.5 to connect with appletv

    Thanks for this.
Before I see your suggestion, I did it below that worked well:
    - SIgn off the Mac App store (if you were signed in with another Apple ID)
    - Leave the Mac App store open
    - Quit iTunes and iBooks if they are running
    - Open Safari, and go to Preferences/Privacy
    - Choose to block cookies "Always"
    - Click on "details" under "Remove all website data ..."
    - Search for apple.com; select the "apple.com" line then click "Remove", then click "Done"
    - Quit Safari
    - Open Activity Monitor (search for it using Spotlight or find it in the Applications/Utilities folder)
    - In Activity Monitor, search for "storeagent". You should find "storeagent" and possibly "ibookstoreagent"
    - Select each of them and force quit them (using the X in the toolbar if you are using Mavericks)
    - In the Finder, go to the ~/Library/Cookies folder (go to ~/Library using the "Go" menu while pressing Alt then open the Cookies folder)
    - Delete   "com.apple.appstore.cookies"   and empty the trash.
    - Go to the Mac App Store and sign in. This should work. You can press Esc if asked for your username and password a second time.
    - Go to Safari, then Preferences/Privacy
    - Choose to block cookies "from third parties and advertisers"
    - Go back to the Mac App Store. You should be able to use it "normally".
Some steps might be overkill, but it seems to work for me now.
    Anyway, thanks!!

  • Is there a way to connect iPad2 to my previous gen DVI Cinema Display?

I have an iPad2 and I have looking for ways to use my previous generation Cinema Display (DVI) as an external monitor, but it looks like VGA-out and HDMI-out are the only options. Has anyone managed to connect iPad through DVI connection?

Search for HDMI to DVI adapters. There are many. DVI-D or DVI-I is backwardly compatible with HDMI video but not DVI-A. DVI will not carry audio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Compatibility_with_DVI

  • Connect ipad2 to tv

I'm trying to connect my iPad2 to my Samsung tv using an Apple Composite AV Cable, but it seems not matter what I do, I get NO SIGNAL on my TV.  What am I doing wrong?

    Dleach-
I assume you know how to switch the TV from its tuner to the various video inputs.
I'm not familiar with Composite video data, but understand it has similar connections to the "Component" system.  Is it possible your TV has a Component video input instead of Composite?
I can not verify it, but someone else mentioned the iPad 2 does not have "mirroring" with either the Composite or Component adapter.  In other words, there may not be a video signal going to the TV unless you are playing a movie or a slide show.

  • Screen Size When Connecting iPad2

    Hi,
I have connected my Apple TV to an XGA projector for us in my classroom. When I use the built in Apple TV options (like Netflix) everything works fine. When I connect my iPad2 via AirPlay the projection is reduced to about 2/3 of the available size. I would like to take advantage of the entire screen. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Eric Kobb

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The output from the Apple TV is aimed at a standard television set which has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3, so when you mirror the iPad to the Apple TV, you will always get black bands as each side to compensate for the difference in the two aspect ratios.

  • Connecting iPad2 to projector

I'm trying to connect my iPad2 to a projector...I've tried all three of my apple adapters with no luck...what am I doing wrong?

If a component or composite AV cable, it should work for viewing photos or videos only.
