Connecting iphone doesn't open itunes

The computer has no problem recognizing the iphone (automatically opens iphoto), just doesn't open itunes automatically. If I open itunes manually, the sync starts automatically and works normally. The box "open iTunes when this phone is connected" is checked. Anyone any other suggestions?

I have this same problem. It used to work -- I'd connect the phone, and iTunes would open and sync. Now, only iPhoto opens, not iTunes. I also have the "Open iTunes" box checked, and the iTunes Helper is in my startup items. I can't figure out why it was working for 4 years, then stopped all of a sudden.

Hi, I have the iphone 4 and I manually deleted all the voice memos on my iphone but they still appear on my iphone when I open Itunes on my computer and they still take up space. I am soon running out of space. Any ideas to permanantly get rid of some of the voice memos?
Am I the only one that really dislike the fact I cannot customize my iphone and cannot delete whatever files I want?
The only options i seem to have is to delete all my files WITHOUT a system restor because I tried doing a system restore and it puts back all my old files on my iphones.
I'm pretty desperate and any tips would help me a lot

If I understand you correctly, you purchased two albums directly from your iPhone and have successfully transferred the purchases to your iTunes library, but now you want to remove these two albums from your iPhone but having trouble, correct?
If so, you can manually delete the albums (song-by-song) by sliding your finger across each song's name, from left to right, then select the Delete button.
Or, while your iPhone is connected to iTunes click on the Music tab that you see in iTunes (where you specify what items to sync to your iPhone). At the bottom of that window (below Playlists, Genre, etc.) you'll see songs that are "manually" added to your iPhone, just un-check those and re-sync.

This is my problem that has to originate from the update. So glad that I did not purchase a MacBook! Apple products/apps are appearing to be not different from Windows products.
I have deleted and reinstalled from the device and desktop, resets, etc. When I uninstalled and reinstalled while connected to my desktop, the older version of pages was installed. I was able to see all of my files that were saved to the cloud. I was forced to update again to access any of the saved files. Once updated again, I could no longer open pages. It began, to open and abruptly shut down.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings

Why is an iphone connection show up when opening iTunes

When I open iTunes on my Mac, why is my iPhone appear on the left margin as if it is plugged up to my computer?

Sounds like you have wi-fi syncing enabled on your iPhone. But just because you see it in iTunes doesn't mean syncing has commenced. Normally that happens only while on external power, or if you manually initiate the wi-fi sync.

If you have the iTunes Preferences set sync automatically (under "Devices"), and the device preferences (Summary page) to "Open iTunes when phone is connected" it iTunes should open and sync automatically when plugging in the phone. If it doesn't happen all the time, there may be filesystem errors on your iMac. Run Disk Utility to verify your hard disk (repair from install disk boot if needed) and repair permissions.
Why is it a problem to manually open iTunes? Isn't it easier to click the iTunes icon than repeatedly plugging in the phone? I prefer to disable automatic opening iTunes and auto-syncing to prevent unwanted syncs. It's very easy to do it manually.

IPhone not automatically opening iTunes

So everything on my iPhone seems to be working fine but when I plug it into the dock, it starts charging fine but doesnt open iTunes to sync. I have to manually open iTunes and then it will start syncing. Anyone know why this is happening...err not happening?

I see in your signature that you're running OSX.4.7. If that is correct, you need to upgrade to X.4.10 as it is listed in the requirements for using the iPhone on a Mac. My wife's computer was doing the same thing when she was running X.4.2 ( i think). iPhoto would pop up but no iTunes, and manually opening iTunes would not show the iPhone on the source list. Anyways, upgrading solved the issue. Hope this helps.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with a Windows OS dll.

Ipod touch doesn't open itunes automatically

My wife and I are both noticing that when we plug our iTouches into our Snow Leopard OS computers that iTunes does not automatically open up. This is something that has only happened during the past week after upgrading the iOS/iTunes softwares.
We now have to manually open iTunes to allow syncing with iTouch to procede.

First I assume you mean go to iTunes Preferences/Devices not iTunes Settings/Devices
The box for preventing syncing was not checked. I left it unchecked.
Next I assume you mean go to the summary pane when the iPod is connected to the Mac and, yes, the check box for open iTunes when iPod is connected has already been selected. I left it checked.
Then you say go back to Settings (Preferences?) and activate the option NOT to sync automatically. I did this but I have to ask why - it seems counter intuitive. Furthermore, the option for autostart is not greyed out on my computer.
None of this has restored my ability to automatically open iTunes on connecting my IPod to the Mac. I still think it was a problem with the recent iOS/ITunes upgrades.

Podcast on iphone doesn't reflect iTunes

When I go in to itunes and look at the pod cast on my phone there's 3 shows listed.
When i look at pod casts on my actual phone theres almost everything that is showng up in my actual pod cast library on my mac in itunes.
Why is this? I don't want everything showing up?

Once you purchase from Apple you can access them from all devices. Opening iTunes on Mac and selecting purchases will allow you to download it to your Mac. You can also hook up your iPhone to iTunes (turn off automatic syncing) and transfer purchases. You might also be interested in using iCloud:

Bought Snow Leopard in order to download iTunes 11 in order to connect with iOS 7 iPhone, doesn't support iTunes 11

My problems started when I upgraded my iPhone's software to iOS 7.
I have moved from Melbourne, VIC to Perth, WA and my PC is in Melbourne. I live with my Girlfriend, and so I mainly use her desktop Mac to connect to iTunes, so you could imagine my surprise when I tried to connect after the fresh update and discovered that my iPhone will no longer connect to iTunes.
It appears as though you need iTunes 11 to connect with a iOS 7 device, which I was not aware of prior to the update. I then learnt that in order to upgrade to iTunes 11 you need OS X 10.6.8 or later.
Now I'm not very proficient with apple products (I always had an iRiver and PC) so while trying to find the right product on the mac store, I got seriously frustrated. Every time I thought I found what I was looking for, I would click "View in the mac store" which would not take me to a buy or download link, rather literally just a showcase of the features. I went in circles for over a **** hour trying to navigate the store. Finally I found the page where I could actually buy the software and found out you can't simple just download the update, you have to order it, which took about a month before it arrived.
I've just installed it ONLY to find it it's 10.6.3! WHICH IS COMPLETELY USELESS TO ME.
I searched for hours, and was assured that Snow Leopard was exactly what I needed to download the new iTunes. I don't know what to do, I'm not like every other apple customer, I don't have a lot of money, and this phone was a gift so the money I used to buy this update actually sent me broke for 2 weeks. Not to mention it's not even for my own computer, I need to know how to get my money back, and WHAT VERSION I NEED TO PUT MUSIC ON THIS **** PHONE.
I'm sorry if I've come off like every other appleh8tr. I just hate when I'm forced to buy something that does a lot of things when I only need it for one specific purpose. I've already had to buy a new charger cable, and after all of this, my account is frozen because I can't pay for a $1 app I tried to download (unsuccessfully)

My advice is always and with Lion even more so to do a clean install, leave the old system as is, use a new drive and format it with Lion, and that way you make a clean break and clean out any carried apps and processes, which you can reinstall if Setup Assistant doesn't.
Expect to do some hardware upgrades as you go along, more RAM, maybe even higher quality, graphic cards, and start wtih a fresh system drive, a new drive for TimeMachine, and a drive to clone your system, clone your user volumes.
