Connecting iPhone to data projectors or video

I have a component AV video cable provided by Apple - I need a composite cable where can one be obtained please or is it possible to obtain a converter for the cable provided by Apple. In addition where is the cable provided intended to be used I recently went to the US Brazil and China and no equipment available in any conference centre or hotel could use a component AV cable.

Component cable and composite cable are used for different types of TVs. For example HDTV's will often use component, but older TVs composite. In addition for some cables and TVs you may need to set the NTSC or PAL option in settings.

I do not fully understand all of the ins and outs of iCloud either. I use iCloud in very "limited doses". The greatest feature of iCloud - IMO - is that you can download purchased content again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID. There are some limitations based on where you live - but in the U.S - all of this is available to you.
I also use iCloud to back up my Pages documents and currently only the Apple iWorks suite of apps, pages, Numbers and Keynote, can make use of this feature of iCloud - As far as I know. The changes that I make on the documents will sync to my iPod Touch and I can download the documents from my iCloud.com account in order to work on them on my Mac. Revise them on the Mac, upload to my account again - and they appear on the iPad and the Touch with revisions in place.
iCloud is still in its infancy, and even if it was "foolproof" or as foolproof as anything can be, I would never count on the cloud only to store my important files. I still backup to iTunes on my Mac and I backup my Mac with Time Machine. The use of iTunes is simply the vehicle through which all of your purchased content can be transferred to your computer for safe keeping. iTunes will store your media, apps and photos - and the backup process using iTunes - provides a way to save your settings, app data, camera roll photos, bookmarks, - in essence - the "stuff" that your apps produce - if that makes sense to you.

Connecting to a data projector

I am going to be traveling and using a data projector to display things from my new macbook pro. I want to know if there is an additional cable I need to connect to a standard data projector that is typically connected to a computer by a cord with a rectangle head and two rows of prongs that tighten to the back of a windows computer.

I waded my way through all the options of connecting my Macbook Pro 2012 model to a data projector. Eventually I bought the following on Amazon. Simpe and effective.

Apple VGA Adapter, with iPad 1, OS 4.3 upgrade and Data Projector?

Our school is testing a number of iPads, and I will be buying a iPad 2 on the 25th March. I would like to test my iPad 1 with the Apple VGA Adapter and my data projector in my classroom. (All Apps)
In the past the Apple VGA adapter did not mirror the apps, however the Apple site now has a link to mirror technology with the VGA Adapter.
I could buy the Apple Digital AV Adaptor (HDMI) but would then need to find a HDMI to VGA convertor to connect to my data projector.
I would love to show my students Garage Band on my projector, but need the correct cables.

I know this thread isnt that recent but the answer can be found when you look at the VGA adapter product page mention in an earlier post:
"The Apple VGA Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on iPad 2 so that everyone in the room can enjoy it.
The Apple VGA Adapter supports video out (only) for iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation)."
So there you have it - only video out is supported on the original iPad / iPhone 4 / iPad Touch.

I am trying to connect the ipad to a data projector when projector is on the ceiling. I have the VGA cord but it is way to short ...is there another cord to connect the both?

It is my understanding that the dgital adapter will give you full video mirroring over HDMI from the iPad 2, although there are some reported models of TVs and projectors that have issues, but that analog signaling, such as VGA, is limited to apps specifically written to provide access to that type of video connection.

Yes, there are cables in the Apple Store that will send video to an external screen, but it depends on the app....3rd party apps may need to be written to allow video out...some mirror the iPhone screen and some only use the external - it depends on how the app works, etc.
Start by getting a compatible cable.

Satellite S1410-802 cannot play videos on LCD Data Projector

Hi,
when I connect my Toshiba S1410-802 to LCD Data Projector and I start any video (in WMP and any other programs) all I see on the wall is black video window but everything around is displayed properly (i.e. desktop and other open windows). On laptop screen video is shown correctly. Sum up: I can watch videos on laptop but when I switch to the projector I can see everything except the video (black window)! Any guess?

I am not 100% sure but I believe you can not watch video at the LCD and external device at the same time and you can watch it on the LCD or external device only.
Please test it. As far as I know it is technical limitation.

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

Definitely sounds like an issue with your Wi-Fi network. Do any other devices on the network have similar issues? Is it an issue only with downloading apps? You can check by trying to load a website in Safari.
I would try turning your Wi-Fi router off for 1 minute, and back on again.
After doing that, disconnect and re-join the Wi-Fi network on your iPhone and try downloading an app again.
