Connecting Ipod Mini To Stereo

About seven years ago I bought a Sharp stereo system and i just got an ipod mini and i was interested in hooking it up. There is no av jack, only a headphones one. At the back of the stereo, the 2 speakers are hooked up by metal black and red wires. How could i attempt to hook the ipod up to this?

Apple stereo connection kit.

  • Connect Ipod mini to car stereo

I have just bought a new car (ford Fiesta) that has an aux socket for an ipod/mp3. Where and what cable to i need to get to connect my ipod mini to this.

In case the iPod cable does not work, try one of the following :-
    1. From the iPod's dock to your car stereo (Aux in)

  • Best way to connect iPod to Shelf Stereo

I have a shelf stereo that has a simple 3.5mm Audio In (like in car stereos). Would it be better to connect my iPod to the stereo via a cable that had two 3.5 mm connectors OR one 3.5 mm connector on one end and a iPod dock connector on the other end?
    Would both work?
Would the dock connector cable sound better?
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Use the simple 3.5 mm cable from your headphone jack out to the stereo in port (if it has one). Going the other way (assuming you can find an adapter) is going to net you the same sound. For example, my Apple universal dock as a 3.5 mm out for audio. Doesn't sound any different coming out that port than it does out of my touch.

  • Connecting Ipod mini to mini dock problems...

Hmm.. i just got my ipod mini charger today and when i plugged it into my computer and then connected my ipod mini my ipod went dead.. it would not charge and then when i took it off the charger it would no longer turn on and it is NOT on hold (i've already checked) and i've tried to "unfreeze" it and that didn't help either.. and help anyone could give me would be fantastic!! thanks

    Hi Stephanie,
There are several things that I don't understand here.
"i just got my ipod mini charger today and when i plugged it into my computer and then connected my ipod mini my ipod went dead"
You plugged your charger into the computer??
    "i've tried to "unfreeze" it"
Do you mean that you've tried to reset it?
    Have you looked here?
    iPOd won't turn on.

  • Why can't I connect iPod to car stereo with red/white RCA cables?

I have red/white/yellow RCA (I think that's the name of them) plugs in my car stereo and I bought a cable to connect it to my iPod. It's the small plug (3.5 I think) on one end and a split 'Y' that's red and white on the other. The people and my car dealer connected a cell phone that is also a music player to it and it works, but it won't work with the iPod connected. The dealer thought it should be able to work with my iPod, but doesn't know why it won't. Are iPods able to connect to a car stereo this way. Is there another special cable that I need to get?

No, I should think that would work fine. I have a splitter like that connected to my hifi and no issues...you would want to make sure the volume on the iPod is up all the way; I don't know what car stereo you have, but possibly it's a setting on there that isn't right?

  • Computer freezes when i connect ipod mini 4gb

i have a problem with my ipod mini 4gb (2nd gen.) for like 2months, it freezes when i connect it to my windows computer.
i tried to reset my ipod en reinstal itunes, but nothing worked. PLEASE HELP!

Hmm... See, I've tried that already (And just tried it again) and instead of allowing me to run it, the computer freezes entirely, just as it would if the "Restart your computer" message came up, only it doesn't show the text, and nor does the screen dim. The only thing I can do at that point is hold down the power button, thusly shutting the computer down. So I cannot restore my iPod that way. Are there any other ways? Or does anyone perhaps have any other suggestions?

  • Connecting iPod to home stereo

What are the best-sounding options to hook up my iPod to my home stereo? Is there a way to hook up my iPod to my home stereo via a digital connection (i.e. a coax or optical connection)? I have a high end home theater receiver with a very good D/A converters and would like to use the D/A converters in my receiver rather than those in the iPod or iPod docking station.

Thanks for your suggestions! Both of those products look like they would do the trick.
From the look of those 2 adapters I would guess that the signal that comes through the iPod dock connection has already been converted from digital to analog (that is unless the adapters have built in D/A converters, which I doubt). That being the case, it doesn't look as though it is possible to run a digital connection from the iPod to a receiver (although maybe it can be done from iTunes on my computer...?).
    Thanks again!

  • What cable to buy to connect iPod to my stereo?

hello - i'm about to purchase iPod classic 120, and would like to know what cable i need to buy to be able to connect the iPod directly to my stereo + speakers, w/o having to run it through iTunes. i have an airport, and imagine there is a way to play the iPod through that. thanks in advance!

    Hello,
I found good old Radio Shack as well as Wal-Mart carries what you need.
It requires a cord with an 1/4 inch stereo male plug and the other end is a "y" out RCA male jacks. Try to get the cords with "Gold Ends" (end plugs are gold) they play cleaner. I use a 3 ft cord. (they come in variable lengths)
I have left a cord plugged into my stereo ( into an aux. input) all the time, so all I have to do is plug it in and play.
    Good luck

  • Connecting iPod mini to computer

When I plug in my mini to the computer, it only charges--it does not update my songs. It doesn't even show that it is connected under the side toolbar on iTunes.
    What could the problem be?

When you plug your iPod into the computer in iTunes click "File" and then go down to "Update iPod". Maybe your iPod is set to manually update instead of automatically.

  • Connecting iPod mini through Firewire port

I usually connect my iPod through my USB 2.0 ports, but I would like to try connecting it through my firewire port. When I plug in my iPod with the included firewire cable, my computer doesnt recognized the mini is plugged in (the mini is charging so I know its connected). But it works when I use my USB cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Reset the iPod when it is connected to the computer. Several attempts may be necessary.

  • Connecting iPod mini to Windows PC

Pretty sure the iPod was originally formatted on Mac. When I plug it in to my Windows PC, I get a message that it isn't recognized and must be formatted. Don't have the music on a hard drive because the only MAC I have access to is an old iBook with an old OS. Is there any way to get the music off the iPod without an OS upgrade?

How have you been using the iPod up until now? Were you putting music on it on a Mac or on Windows?
Since a Windows computer cannot recognize a Mac formatted iPod without the use of some 3rd party software, you're a little stuck here.

  • When I connect iPod mini it comes up as data

ITunes recognizes my iPod as Data and it doesn't update new songs added.

When I start iTunes, the iPod is comes up with the name "Data" and fails to update new purchases. I am not sure if "Data" is a generic name that iTunes created or if I did something incorrectly at some point in the past. When I go to the File menu and choose update songs on "Data" iTunes starts another window which comes up with the word Data in the top center portion of the window where the word "iTunes" normally is (above the window.)

    hiya!
I am trying to upload all my new music to my iPod, but everytime i plug in my iPod it goes to "my documents" on the "g" drive.
in that case, we'd better check on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Old iPod mini can't be recognized after formatting, and iTunes 'Apple Mobile Device Driver not found.'

My roommate gave me an old iPod Mini a few days ago. It was working fine 'til I plugged it into my computer and it asked me to format it. I did, and now it cannot be recognized by iTunes or my computer. My computer views it as a "removable disk" which cannot be accessed. In devices, it is listed as an Apple iPod though, so I'm hoping not all is lost. I have tried many quick fixes I've read on internet (including changing disk letter) but to no avail. I have reinstalled the new iTunes and now that is telling me it has not installed properly, and when I ran diagnostics, it reads that the Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. I will copy & paste all the info from the diagnostic run below, and if anybody can help me with my new (old) iPod, I'd be everly greatful!
