Connecting ipod to digital slr camera

i purchased a ipod camera adapter and attempted to load photos from my canon digital slr but it was unsucessful after three attempts the first wich recognised the photos but did not show them or load them the second that loaded half the photos then lost them and the third which did not even read the photos as existing on the card. just wondering how i might be able to successfully load my photos

Not a feature of iphone.
You cannot save files directly to iphone. It does not support disk mode like an ipod.

  • PC shuts off when Ipod Touch is connected.  Detects "Digital Still Camera"

My Ipod Touch was working fine until today. I plugged it into my PC and then it detects it as a "digital still camera". Then after a few seconds my PC will completely shut down.
The weird thing is that once it restarts with the Ipod connected already it will detect it as an Ipod and Itunes will open and everything normally. If I then disconnect it and connect it again, it will be detected as a camera again and again shut down.
I've looked all over the inter for solutions. Most of them involve updating the driver. But I cannot update the driver unless the device is connected. And when the device is connected as a "digital still camera" it will shut down my computer.
I tried booting in safe mode and then connecting the Ipod Touch and it worked fine. It detected it as an Ipod and everything worked fine. My plan was to boot in safe mode and then update the driver but I couldn't because it detected it normally.
I would normally try turning off some services to see if something it bothering it but I don't want to ruin my computer by consistently shutting it down unexpectingly and giving me errors each time it reboots.
I've seen other people online with this problem but none with a solution. I would really appreciate some help. Thank you

Mine is doing the same thing,I got it 2 days ago worked fine but today everytime i plug in the desk top it will shut it down. I plug it to my lap top it worked but i'm affraid that it will do the same thing again after a while. I have a feeling that there is some problem with itunes, if my computer is the problem why did it work fine at the begining. When I uninstalled the itunes and plug the ipod it starts charging but the computer did not shut down. I did some research and it seems that a lot of people having the same problem.

  • Please explain this to me - Digital SLR Camera Lens /

    Canon - EOS Rebel T2i 18.0-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black comes with a EF-S 18-55mm lens.
The question is: How much zoom is this? After spending a long time browsing the web and consulting with Geek Squad, checking our resources, etc, I still do not understand.
So explain it like you're talking to a five year old.
Does this camera have a zoom? If so, how much? Or am I asking the wrong question?
    Thanks in advance.

Do you mean in terms of "4x zoom" vs "3x zoom"?
In that case, it's 55/18 = 3, so it's a "3x zoom" lens.  The "x" notation is derived by taking the longest available focal length and dividing it by the shortest available.
The SLR community tends to avoid the "x" notation because it's somewhat arbitrary, it only tells you the range and not the absolute values.  An 18-55 lens gives 3x zoom and a 70-300 gives about 4.2x zoom, but the "wide" end of the 70-300 is longer than the "long" end of the 18-55.
The focal length specification on a lens determines its field of view.  A shorter focal length gives a wider field of view.  If a lens gives only one focal length (Such as a 50mm f/1.4), it's known as a "prime" lens and has no zoom.  Pro photographers like primes because they tend to have the best image quality.
One thing you'll see often with SLRs is a reference to "crop factor" - Because the sensors in most digital SLRs are smaller than a 35mm film frame, they provide a narrower field of view compared to the same focal length lens on a 35mm film camera.  The difference in field of view is the "crop factor".  Most digital SLRs have a crop factor of around 1.5 - This means that an 18-55mm lens will behave on most DSLRs in the same manner as a 28-80 lens does on a film or full frame DSLR.  Note that SLR lenses are ALWAYS marketed based on their actual focal length, it's up to the user to figure out what this means on their camera.
Point-and-shoots, on the other hand, will frequently market their "35mm equivalent" focal length and not their true focal length (if they bother to advertise FL at all), since P&S cameras have VERY high crop factors.
FYI, a 50mm lens mounted on a 35mm film camera is considered a "normal" lens, the boundary between "wide angle" and "telephoto".  So an 18-55mm lens on a DSLR will behave like a 28-80mm lens on a film camera, and since 50mm is in the middle of the range, that spans "mild wide angle" to "mild telephoto".  A 70-300mm lens will go from "moderate telephoto" to "extreme telephoto".

    Hi WC!
Thanks for posting on the forum.
It is very likely that the issue is with the cards you have tried and not the camera.
You mentioned that you were going to try a faster card.
Were you able to do so yet?
If so, how did the faster card perform?
Do you experience the same issue when recording to a high-speed CF card instead of an SD card?

  • Connecting IPod results in Apple Camera popping up instead of actual IPod?

When I plug the IPod into my computer it recognizes it as an Apple Ipod Camera. Neither Itunes or my computer recognizes it as an IPod. Help!

My daughter is having the same problem with her brand new ipod touch and I'm wondering if it's our operating system although it's one of the listed required ones. tech support walked us through all the troubleshooting and nothing worked, they said we would have to mail it back in or take it to an apple store because it just needed to be activated. she ended up using our home pc instead of her laptop and logged on to her itunes account and it activated it and synced and loaded the music from our pc. problem is, it still does the same thing on her laptop, only seems to recognize it as a camera, and all of her music is on HER laptop.
What OS do you have? She has Windows XP Home and our home pc has Windows Vista. Wondering if it's a problem with XP.

  • Need Digital SLR recommendation for Mac

I hope this is posted at the right location.
I would like to buy my first digital SLR camera.
Can any one recommend a digital SLR that would work well with my Mac (presently 350Mhz G4, 384MB, OS10.3.7, but can upgrade to 10.4, and would like to get a new Mac within the year; photos would be stored on an external Lacie 160 GB HD).
I am interested in, but not limited to, the Canon Rebel XT, Canon EOS 20D, Nikon D50, and Nikon D70S.
I know there are sometimes issues with cameras and Macs - do any of these perform better than others with the Mac and iphoto (which I have not used yet); any not well at all?
From what I have read, I favor the Canon EOS 20D.
On the other hand, It's been my impression that Nikkor lenses were at the top, and buying a Nikon gets you into that line of lenses. But that may not be so any more, if it ever was; Canon has a good reputation also.
I seem to recall Macworld giving a stromg recommendation to the Nikon D70 some time ago, but I can't track that down.
Any input at all would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

All the cameras you mention will work fine with the Mac and iPhoto, though iPhoto isn't a capable enough application to make the most of the pictures any digital SLR can produce — before long you'll want an image processing application that offers more features and control.
Don't choose a camera on the basis of Mac compatibility or iPhoto compatibility — those are non-issues. Choose the camera on its own merits as a photographic tool and on the basis of how each one feels and handles. Don't buy any of these cameras without handling it. And don't choose on the basis of either manufacturer's reputation for lens quality: those reputations were made by their professional lens lines, not the cheap amateur lenses that are offered with these low-end cameras. You can replace them with the better pro lenses, but at a considerable increase in cost.

Reinstall iTunes. Make sure you follow the instructions in this support document to the letter. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
You may have some problems because Apple has not certified that everything works with Windows 8 yet.

  • Digital Video Camera with USB connection

If anyone can help me please let me know. I own a Sony Digital Video Camera that's 3 years old. It connects to my iMAC through a USB port. I can not figure out how to load my videos to iMovie. Is this camera too old? When I connect the USB port nothing happens; nothing appears on my desktop.

    George,
i'm not sure if you can download Image Capture from the Apple Website separately or if it comes as a total download of a specific version of OSX. If you have the original system discs that came with your computer, maybe that would have it, or worst case, an option to "Restore Software." Since you camera records to a DVD, you have another option: Do a Google search for MPEG Streamclip and download it (free). Basically, MPEG Streamclip will convert the files on the DVD back to DV files for editing in iMovie. I don't have any first-hand experience with a DVD camera, so you might also need to download Apple's MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple's site) if the video on your DVDs is in MPEG-2 format. Come to think of it, I downloaded some MPEG movies from my digital still camera (it takes simple movies) using Image Capture and I still needed to use both MPEG Streamclip and the Apple Component to get it into iMovie, so maybe skip Image Capture and go for these two programs. I know it should be easier to do than this, but unfortunately getting video back off of a DVD is not what Apple wanted you to do. They setup their movie edit programs to accept DV files. The movies on a DVD are already highly compressed, so you actually need to reverse the process and get these compressed movies back to DV. Most PC computers allow, and even suggest, that you import MPEG movies for editing, but that is toally backwards. That explains why the PC discussion boards are filled with toally frustrated and confused people. Most PC computers still don't come with Firewire. They just don't get it.

  • Connect to digital still camera

I'm new to flex/AIR and I'm tried to connect to my digital
camera (not a web cam). But I can't seem to find a way to access
it. I'm running OS X and a volume isn't mounted for the digital
camera. I'd appreciate any help if anyone has tried something
    similar... Thanks!

I don't believe you can connect and snap pictures with it
unless it has a video out, but you should be able to access the
    storage if it is mounted.

  • Re: Satellite L - How to connect my digital video cam?

I have a Canon digital video camera (bought in 2004). I have been using it to transfer movies onto my other Toshiba laptop, but there is no place to plug in on my new laptop. I did use a iEEE1394 but it doesn't work on this one.
    What alternative is there?
Also on turning on the laptop I get a message saying TOSHIBA SERVICE STATION NOT WORKING and proceeds to solve it but nothing happens.
    Any suggestions pls.

    Hey,
What notebook model you have it exactly? Some notebooks dont have firewire port but if your camera has USB port can use this port. As far as I know all notebooks have USB port
    > Also on turning on the laptop I get a message saying TOSHIBA SERVICE STATION NOT WORKING and proceeds to solve it but nothing happens.
You should try to reinstall Service Station, I think this should work. Just download the newest version of Toshiba service station on official Toshiba website and install it:

But dont forget to remove the old version first before you install the newest one. ;)

  • PC thinks my iPod Touch is a camera

Whenever I plug my iPod Touch into its USB port, the PC (which is running WindowsXP) gives me a window with 3 choices.  I can either "launch" 1) the ABBYY FineReader (which looks like scanning software), 2) the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, or 3) Picassa 3.  I suppose there is a 4th choice which is to do nothing and that's what I usually do.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.5, which might've been a mistake.  I don't recall whether my iPod showed up under DEVICES with the previous version, but I don't think I ever had any trouble finding it.  Now, DEVICES doesn't even show up on the left-hand column in iTunes.  I followed some instructions that were suggested for a question similar to mine.  The result was that iTunes wanted to "Restore" my iPod, i.e. restore it to its factory settings and (I presume) wipe out any apps or content I already managed to put on it.  It didn't show the "name" of my iPod or any other information about it, like I remember seeing on a similar screen on my PC before (most likely in the previous version of iTunes).
If I look under My Computer in Windows, the iPod is visible and even shows the "name" we gave it the way iTunes used to.  The trouble is that My Computer recognizes it as a "Digital camera."  If I double-click on it, I see the two pictures I've transfered from the PC to the iPod but nothing else.  If I try dragging an mp3 file into that window, nothing happens.
    So I suppose I have 2 questions:
    1)  How do I get my PC to recognize my iPod Touch as an iPod instead of a camera?
    and
    2)  How do I get DEVICES to show up in iTunes without wiping out the existing Apps and downloaded content?
What I would really like to do is move some music and some podcasts from my PC to the iPod Touch, but right now all I can move are pictures.  That is why this question has the title is does and I'm hoping answers to the above questions will allow me transfer mp3 files, which is my ultimate goal.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

I went to the link you posted and followed all the steps.  I was thrilled to see that it worked!  I don't recall whether my PC still recognized my iPod Touch as a camera or not, but DEVICES did show up in iTunes and it recognized the name of my iPod Touch.
Now, though, everything is back the way it was.  The PC tells me I have a camera connected via USB and iTunes doesn't even have DEVICES listed in the left-hand column.
I'm wondering if this is the problem:  I had the iPod on until the battery was so "low" that it stopped.  I didn't press and hold the button on top.  In fact, until I read the article you linked to, I didn't even know you could turn the iPod on and off that way.  I would only press it once until the screen turned blank and simply pressed the Home buttom to turn it back on.  Until I read that article, I thought the Home button was the On button.
So now my question is this:  Should I ALWAYS turn the iPod off by pressing and holding the button on top until I see the red slider on the screen?
    Thanks!

  • Can I download photos from a digital SLR?

Are attachments available that will allow transfer of photos to an external hard drive?

Don't totyally understand your questions or what you are trying to do. Do they pertain to an iPad?
First you say "Can I download photos from a digital SLR".
You can use Apple's Camera Connection Kit to import photos and videos, but you can't export.
Then you say "Are attachments available that will allow transfer of photos to an external hard drive?"
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
Expand your iPad's storage capacity with HyperDrive

  • Digital Still Camera message

    Hi,
When I connect my iPod Touch to my PC (Windows XP) my system recognises it as a Digital Still Camera then the computer shuts down. I have attached my old iPod Nano and this is recognised correctly indicating it is not the computer. This problem started when I updated to the latest version of iTunes. I have un-installed and re-installed iTunes. Can someone give me guidance on what to do to resolve this issue please.
    Thanks
    Pete

I'm not sure why the computer would shut down, but usually the reason that iTunes thinks an iPod Touch is a camera is because you have pictures on it that were taken as screenshots by the Touch or by one of the Apps on the Touch.
On the Touch, look in Photos. Is there a heading called *saved photos?* If so, that's a picture taken on the Touch and until it's removed from the *saved photos* camera roll on the Touch, you'll continue to see the camera message when you connect the Touch to iTunes.
Follow the prompts and copy the photos to your computer _and then_ make sure you remove them from the *saved photos* of the Touch.
