Connecting iPod Touch to Orange / Wanadoo Livebox Wi-Fi with WEP Security

Hi
I'm sorry to post yet another question about connecting to WiFi as this seems to be a major topic of conversation - However I need some specific help if someone would be so kind...
I have an Orange / Wanadoo Livebox in the UK and already have several devices connected to it (including a PS3 connected this morning and 3 Wireless PC's)..; however I can't get my iPod Touch to connect
In 'Settings' / 'Wi-Fi' the Wi-Fi is 'ON' and I can see my home Network WANADOO-XXXX.... When I select this network the iPod asks for a Password and I enter my WEP Key '82F6 FBF1 27 etc etc' - I've tried it in upper case and lower case, with and without the spaces, always using zero rather than the letter 'o' and I have pressed 'Button 1' to put the Livebox into pairing mode but I always get the response 'Unable to join the network "WANADOO-XXXX"'
Please point out my deliberate error to save the iPad Touch getting chucked out the window!!!

I've located the discussion below on this subject but when I change the LiveBox to 'WEP Only' all the other connected devices don't work (including this laptop) because they are using WPA - This is getting reallt frustrating - Can anyone help me please?

  • Connecting iPod touch to the Internet via a Mac with a wired Internet connection

I have a Mac Mini which is connected to the Internet using a wired Ethernet connection. I've just bought an iPod touch, but the iPod can't connect to the Internet using the wi-fi network I've created on the Mac Mini, although it knows that the network exists. Any ideas?

What happens when you try to connect to the network? Error message?

  • Connect iPod touch 2G to Reciever using RCA's? It cannot be this difficult?

    Hello!
Need to connect iPod touch 2G to my reciever using RCA's?
But +I do not want to use the headphone jack....+ (I heard I will get higher sound quality using the bottom multi-pin connector on the bottom of the touch going to a left and right RCA's) +I have uncompressed (AIFF) files on my iPod touch and want the best sound quality possible.+
I found a couple companies that make these cables with one being the Cables To Go 4-Feet RCA Stereo to Dock Connector Cable for iPod and also the Nyko Stereo Link for iPod, but from reading the reviews on Amazon neither of them will work with the Touch 2g (or the iPhone for that matter).
I am also open to a simple dock of some sort that would provide me RCA outputs. Seems as if Apples universal dock would be great but it seems to have NO RCA outputs on the back of it.
If anyone has a solution to this I would be very very happy!
+I have looked high and low for a solution for this seemingly simple task.+
All I want is a connector that goes from the bottom of the touch to 2 RCA's so I can input this into
my home stereo so I can listen to my ripped CD's in high quality. A dock would also work too! I do not need charging or anything fancy....
(already have try the Tekkeon NavDock for iPod which was cool because I could watch my videos on tv from my touch but i dont need that)
+*just looking for something simple that works with the iPod Touch 2G.*+
    *It cannot be this difficult?*
    thanks, techo

As I stated above, the docking connector is not a "true" line-out, it does have a volume-tap so the volume control will work. It probably is somewhat cleaner than the headphone out (haven't measured it), but it is not going to be a significant difference as any improvement you get from the connector is severely limited by the DAC in the iPod.
You get no improvement in sound from using the pins on the 30 pin connector versus a 3.5 mm jack. If you buy a Universal Dock it is passing the signal from the 30 pin dock to a 3.5mm female jack, then you use the 3.5mm to RCA. Going directly from the dock connector to RCA will not improve the sound, the 3.5mm connector is not inferior in itself to the RCA connectors.
The A/V kit will get you the ability to watch your videos on your TV and output the stereo signal to your receiver. If you want even better sound for your music, get an Apple TV and use the HDMI cable to transfer the video and sound:

    Hello,
I have a iPod touch 4g,last time when I paired with my friends iPhone it showed his iPhone's name along with devices connected earlier in the bluetooth list after I updated my software to ios 5.1 the names of friends devices appear as D1:FG:12:13:AK something like that and all the other previously connected devices appear in this same form in the bluetooth list how do I fix this back and it is confusing to connect to a device with no name but some unknown Bluetooth address so how do I find the device name back????
    SO PLEAZZZZZ HELP!!!!!

An iPod can only pair with an iPhone for internet sharing provided that the iPhone has the subscribed to the tethering plan. The BT profiles do not permit file tansfer between IDevices by BT. The only BT pairsin is by app and those ar for peer-to-peer gaming.

  • My IPod touch 4g screen is FROZEN turned white , with green , white & yellow lines .  No connect to itunes , OnOff button & home button DOESN`T WORK? -

My IPod touch 4g screen is FROZEN turned white , with green , white & yellow lines .
No connect to itunes , OnOff button & home button DOESN`T WORK? -
While installing an update for my IPod touch 4g ( that I`ve had for around over a year )
and turned it off while it was " updating " . I turned it on a while after ,
and it was on the apple symbol and then suddenly went to the white screen with the green ,
white and yellow lines from top to bottom . I`ve waited around 2 and a half hours for it to go back .
I`ve tried to connect it to itunes , but won`t connect nor effect the ipod screen .
I`ve also tried the on and off button held and holding the home button as well .
Nothing is working and I`m begging to worry .  it's my baby sister's ipod and she's crying already she doesn't know
    what to do....

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I followed the instruction on the quick start manual (open itunes, connect ipod touch to my mac,and finish the registration, sync music etc.)Then the screen is still WHITE. I've tried some efforts including reset and recover, but still white screen! Couldn't believe this!
    Help me!
PS:The touchpad seems to be ok. When I push the sleep button and slide my finger on the bottom of the screen, such a sound like the screen is locked or unlocked sent out.

uncheck the music in itunes and resync to delete her music from your ipod
then create another account using everything the same except change your email address from a ".com" to ".net"
like me, I have an ipod touch and my mom has a shuffle, she doesn't like using credit cards online
so we use mine for both accounts but with [email protected] as mine and [email protected] as hers
that way we can both use the credit card and on the same pc but with different passwords too

  • Unexpected "Connect iPod touch to iTunes" screen

I powered off my 2G Touch before flying to Argentina; then powering up again on arrival brought up a new-to-me "Connect iPod touch to iTunes screen", which no amount of button presses would get past.
Luckily there was a PC where we were staying, and with iTunes installed, and with USB, so I was able to get going again, esp. since I'd disabled automatic syncing, though now everything was in Spanish. But,
Q1: does anyone know what this screen really means?, and why it might have come up? [a wifi router was nearby]
Q2: would a hard reset [hold sleep/wake and home buttons for 10 sec] worked to get past this screen?

I have the same problem, getting the 'connect' symbol or icon while travelling. I just got off the phone and an unsatisfying conversation with Apple support. Apparently, this is a "rare?" problem that is caused when there is some kind of software failure on the iPod Touch, and that there is no way to get around it except connecting to iTunes on some pc somewhere, ideally your own PC and iTunes. This happened once before for me but I was home and just plugged it in. The iPod recovered, connected and synced with no error message at all. The rep at Apple support said there is no log or trace that can be retrieved, so the mysterious iPod Touch software failure will remain unknown. He said I could take it in for warranty service, but who knows if they could reproduce the problem. Maybe the new iPhone/iPod Touch software version will run better (or worse). ps, I tried all possible combinations of hard reset on the unit, but nothing else works to recover.
