Connecting JVC DV Camcorder to Macbook

Hello anyone!!
I am trying to connect my DV JVC Camera (GR-DA30) to my macbook. If anyone has any tips or suggestions please let me know. Do I need a cord or specific software?? Any help will be appreciated!

You need a FireWire cable with a plug to suit the JVC at one end and one to suit the Mac at the other.
You connect them, switch on the camera in Playback Mode and open iMovie..

Hi everyone, I picked up on this thread as I am having similar problems with my Sony HDR FX7 camcorder and how it communicates with the latest MAC Book Pro. I have the 9 pin cable referred to in earlier posts, but my new MAC Book Pro does not seem to recognise my camera? I am using Final Cut Pro to edit a video captured by my camera.
In my previous MAC Book I used iMovie to successfully access the video through my MAC, but it doesn't seem to work on the latest MAC Book Pro (or does not recognise the camera)?
Has anyone got any suggestions please?

What Sony HandyCam do You have ?
Is it a miniDV tape Camera - if so it only can connect via FireWire.
What MacBook Pro - Do You have ? - Never seen one without FireWire - but on later models there are only a FireWire 800 connector.
MacBook Air and some MacBooks don't have any FW-connector - but MB Pro used to have it as far as I know.
If it has a FW800 - connector - then You need a FW 4-pin to FW-800 Cable - the FW400-FW800 adapter is not my favorite solution.

Problem recognizing JVC dv camcorder

I have a trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements. I am using a firewire to connect a JVC dv camcorder to a dell laptop. I am usining windows xp (sevice pack 2). Windows xp recognises the connection to the camcorder, however Adobe Premiere Elements does not show the connection, which means that I cannot capture the output. Anybody any ideas? Thanks. I have a Nokia 9300 communicator, with a GPRS conenction. I want to use it to connect to the internet on my macbook. Since I am in India, my service provider, not having sufficient knowledge of the mac, cannot help me with configuring it.

Hi Brian, Thanks for that. I went to meet my service provider (Hutch) yesterday. What he told me is very close to yours. Here it is
First, when we have to make the new connection, there are 2 options - dial up or GPRS line. We tried GPRS line and set up as follows:
Username: Blank
Password:Blank
Number to dial 99**# or *99#
Here, the guy wants to know where we can enter the APN number - & I have no clue.
Second, using these settings, I got connected, the MB says it was authenticating user and my call also showed the "G" sign, but it went away after a second, giving me an error message - Could not negotiate connection with PPP server.
Just for curiousity sake, this guy tried his cell- a Nokia 6230. & it worked just fine. There was this problem, though, that every few seconds, the connectiion went off, giving the message that the modem had unexpectedly hung -up (& the poor guy's cell would switch off & on again on its own). But this is still distant for me.
I need your help in getting the modem script that you are talking about. I can only see 3 nokia modems- & they are all ir, none of them are for GPRS.
My problem is that there is no store or anything like that in India. I just bought the MB when in London recently, as it looked nice. Not very sure what to do now.

Is this just the most ridiculous oversight or is there some underlying reason why this doesn't connect and function properly? How amazing would it be if I could just click on a contact number and dial from my phone like I could in 2008 via my Lenovo and my Blackberry. This blows my mind that two devices that scream compatibility are far from it. From my bluetooth options it see my device, then sends a code, I confirm and then it briefly connects only to disconnect almost immediately. #fail #appleoversight #failfailfail
Fix it or I'm going back to PC ****

Important for users of JVC HDD Camcorder and iMovie HD

I've been having problems using iMovie HD to open my JVC HDD camcorder's videos. Some of you have been very kind in pointing me in a few directions. I thought I'd try and return the favor:
I downloaded MPEG Streamclip and the MPEG-2 Playback Component (both of which can be found easily using google), and used Streamclip to export my video files as .dv files - now I'm using iMovie to attend to my videos with no problems (knock on wood). Thanks everyone for your help! Any questions, just ask!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Time Machine has to erase the external disk in order to make backups. Before setting Time Machine up, copy the files of your external disk to the hard disk of the Mac in order not to lose them, and then, set up Time Machine. The first backup will start automatically.

I have also tried changing the contact emails(you can contact me by) in Facetime(diff email for IPAD and Macbook Pro). Facetime tried the call, I see the accept buttom appear and it goes away as the call never connects? Any ideas??

Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them.
