Connecting Kindle to HomeHub 3

Hi
I cannot connect a Kindle to Home Hub. Have tried all usual remedies but cannot get any further.
Recently a visitor could not connect their iPhone 4S either. This is a new issue as Kindle used to be OK.
I have a PC wirelessly connected to the HomeHub also and have recently changed the Firewall Protection from Norton to Kaspersky. Could this have something to do with the problem?

  • Can't connect Kindle Fire HD to BT Home Hub 3

I've just bought a Kindle Fire HD and can't get it to connect to my BT Home Hub (I think it's a 3) I have an ipad and iphone and they are connecting fine....help?

See link for connecting an Android tablet. It should be more or less the same for a Kindle Fire.

Make sure you use the wireless passkey found on the label of the hub and not the admin password or your email password.

  • Apple TV ok connecting wireless to HomeHub 2 but n...

Hi - just got BT HomeHub and works ok (although waiting for the throttle to support Vision but more on that if it's an issue
I have AppleTV and a Mac Pro (used to work fine on Sky using their Sagem on WEP) and want to now connect to my new HomeHub 2, but with either WEP or WPA Apple TV can't get itself an internet connection - although it connects to the wireless network fine.
All other devices in the house are grabbing internet wirelessly no problem.  Just the Apple TV that is getting no link to the Internet.
Is there anything else I should be doing to the HomeHub before I can expect an internet connection for my AppleTV?
Did search the forums here but nothing specific to this issue
    Thanks all
    Rakk

Try going to rouetr config page (http://bthomehub) going to settings, advanced, application sharing and forwarding the ports that Apple TV uses. I don't think its on the ''supported apps'' list so u need do it manually. Im sure u will figure it out its simple if u not tech savvy.
if you have trouble figuring out how to manually add apple TV as an app and assigning it to the device go to www.portforward.com
If you done this. Try disabling the routers Firewall and see if ti works. Never used apple TV can it be plugged in using a wire? try this just for troubleshooting, plug direct into Homehub and see if it works. Let us here at forum know.

  • PDA could connect to old HomeHub, not new HomeHub2...

I like to use my PDA (HP iPAQ, WM5)  in bed to stream stuff to listen to from my PC. On my old HomeHub it was no problem. With my new HomeHub2 I can't seem to connect unless I switch the security off completely. Any suggestions for settings that might work?
The settings available on my PDA are:
Authentication: Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK (I would guess that it has to be the last one).
Data Encryption: WEP, TKIP (I would guess the latter).
My HomeHub2 is on the default settings. I guess I don't have to go through all the other options, anyone that can help will know what they are.

    Hi Scatterkeir,
1st Solution - Change the Wireless Mode on your router from 802.11n to 802.11g and see if that works. If it doesn't switch it back to 802.11n.
2nd Solution - Change the Security type on your hub to WPA or WPA-PSK. Do not use WEP because it is easily hackable.
Post back to let us know how you get on
    Good luck

  • E71 not connecting to BT Homehub router!

I'm new to this forum, and I'm getting a real stress on due to this problem I'm having. I have a homehub which I have superuser rights to, I have set it up dozens of times and know it inside out. I have set up all of the user account names for the hub and know all of the passwords. The hub works fine with all of my XP systems, all the house PC's and laptops connect to it fine with a WEP key.
Now here's the problem, when I try and connect with my E71, it connects fine but then shows the:-
    "Welcome...
Congratulations on purchasing this speedtouch residential gateway.
To connect to the internet, you have to login as a more privileged user."
And it gives the option to sign on as a different user.
When I try this, I enter an account name for the router, and it comes back "authorisation failed. Try again?". I have created new accounts with admin rights, WAN admin rights, standard user, all sorts but all fail.
I have tried a hard reset on the router and even with no security setup it still comes up with this page, I am losing the will to be patient with this phone, and I really want it to work as I love the phone, but the I have 5 days longer to return it if I'm not happy, and I'm seriously considering it as I just can't see what elsecould be wrong with the setup!
Please help, I will be eternally grateful...
    Many thanks in advance :womanmad:

    Hi SJ,
Yes the router is set up to allow new stations automatically, I can see the phone is connected to the router under the wireless section of the router status. All looks fine apart from the phone not realising that it is authenticated.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to homehub

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this problem.
I am trying to connect a laptop running xp to a homehub. I can connect to the fon network ok and I can connect to other wireless networks ok. I can connect fine with a different laptop so I am certain the problem lies with the laptop, Is there a simple way to delete the hub connection and set it up from scratch?
    Many thanks

gotto control panel network connections - then right click on your wireless connection and select properties. Click the Wireless networks tab then in preferred networks select the home hub connection and remove it. Prob best to then reboot and start again

  • I have problem connect kindle

I have a problem to  connect my kindle in wi fi

You might need to ensure your TC is following SMB rules for the kindle to connect.
    What TC do you own?
The latest AC or earlier one.. the actual A1xxx from the base or the Gen number if you know it.
Setup wireless with names that are short, 2-10 characters.. but 25 or more is still allowed.. but short keeps the total URL length down which is good.
    No spaces in the name.
Pure alphanumeric. This is not 100% required but it is easier to keep in mind.
Certainly apple's favourite apostrophe is not helpful.
You might also need to try a fixed wireless channel .. it seems to help for some reason.. test 11, 6, 1 in that order. That is for 2.4ghz .. I doubt Kindle has 5ghz  wireless.

  • Slower connection on the Homehub 4

I bought a homehub 4 which arrived today. I set it up and noticed the speed seems way slower - the BT speed test said about 28/16 down and up, speedtest.net/bbmax and download speeds reflected this too.  I hooked the old Homehub 3 back up and my speed jumped back up 199/15 on the FTTP speed tester.  The homehub and network icon see my pc connected at 1000mbs on the gigE port on both hubs.
I'm on the option 3 160/20 FTTP service and connected over ethernet.  Any ideas?

I decided since I had more time today I'd give it another go, swapped the network cables over and immediately it's working fast on the homehub 4.  I have no idea why, or what could have made it run slower before, but it seems to be working great now..
Download speedachieved during the test was - 176.77 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-212.83 Mbps .
    Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 212.83 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 19.55Mbps
    Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
Utterly confusing, but thanks for the help, I just hope it stays like this

  • Connecting Kindle Paperwhite by USB

Hi!  I have a Kindle Paperwhite that I am trying to connect to the USB port of my MacBook Pro.  The Kindle is supposed to immediately go into "USB Mode," when it is connected, and mount as a new disk volume on my desktop.  It did this just fine when I brought it into my office and connected it to my PC at work.  But it isn't working on the MacBook.  Other USB peripherals (e.g., a USB key and a USB hard drive) are mounting just fine, however.  So it isn't a problem with the USB port or cable.
Amazon technical support has been no help, and does not seem to be aware of this as an issue.  Has anyone on this forum encountered a similar problem?  Bettter yet, can anyone on this forum offer a solution (besides "get an iPad" -- I already have one. But I really enjoy reading books on my Kindle).

I just got my Paperwhite - my 2nd generation Kindle took a 'dunk' in the bathtub!
When I plug the Kindle PW into my Mac, it shows up on my Desktop as a USB volume named "Kindle"... if yours isn't doing the same, I would suspect a problem with the USB port (have you tried more than one?).
Sorry I can't be of much help - mine just 'works' (and I've had it less than a week)... there IS a Kindle forum (http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle) so you may want to post your problem there.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Connecting kindle fire to wireless printer

I have successfully installed the wireless printer (hp deskjet2540) on my laptop but cannot understand how to link printer with my kindle fire? I've downloaded the hp e print app but it's no help at all and despite following instructions to print an initial page which will give me my product claim code all that prints is a printer status report.  HELP, I'm not very tech savvy but hate to be beaten by these things, so a nice non techy walk through would be gratefully received.

Hi, Please use the following instructions:    http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03933792 Note: not all printers support that. Regards.

  • Xbox doesn't want to Connect to BT HomeHub.

I've had an Xbox for four years and online
for three years. Only the last three days I have actually had a major crisis. I
know about NAT settings because normally I would reset the Hub or even disable
firewall and play perfectly with great connection. Only in the last three days I
haven’t been able to connect to home hub let alone go on to the internet. So
when I click ‘Test Xbox LIVE Connection’ it comes up with a cross on the first
hurdle. I have pretty much tried all the ways I know and repeated them; I don’t
understand how it can’t even connect to a router that it’s been connecting with
    for years.
I’ve tried to reset to factory settings many times, and then disable firewall or
even leaving it as standard. Turning UPnP on and off, assigning my Xbox IP
address. Changing channel on interface from automatic to manual. I turn the
Xbox off then back on before I test connection again. Strangely when I just try
to connect or sign it almost instantly it will say that I can’t play online. I
have tried a lot all in various combinations, I could just being going too hard
on it and it can be something simple I’ve looked over or it could be the Xbox
which I doubt because It can connect to BT Open zone (However can’t go online
due to have to add your email and password but on Xbox there is no option for
    it).
    The gear I have:
Xbox S and all the extras like turtle
    beaches and Kinect.
BT home hub 1.0 (The white square model not sure if it’s the 1.0)
Two Black ‘Comtrend’ plugs with broadband not sure what they are to be honest.
got sent these 6 months ago because apparently the other ones were faulty?
Which is a worry because they have three lights and one being ‘Status’ is red
however, I have config. Reset these a few times and gained little success.
    Not sure how well I have explained my problem;
however I can send images if anyone needs further details. I thank you in
    advanced for your help.

if it's over 3g rather then wifi they maybe your isp are blocking those ports?

  • SSH connection through the Homehub

I'm unsure if this is the correct thread. Sorry if it isn't.
Basically I'm trying to turn off the BTHOMEHUB2's SSH server its hosting. I have an SSH server running on my home network which is facing the internet. At the moment it is setup to use a non standard port and I use port forwarding on the home hub to make it all work. The problem is I need to use port 22 and it is already being used. I cannot see what possible reason there is to have port 22 filtered on the home hub.
Is there a way to turn this off so it can be used by my SSH server instead?
The only reason I'm curious if this can be done is because the BTHOMEHUB gives me the option to port forward SSH from port 22 as a preset application in the port forwarding options. So it must expect I can use port 22.
Thank you in advance for your help
    James

Just as an alternative idea, it might be easier (and indeed partially more secure) if you were to change the port that your SSH server is using and have the hub port forward that port instead.

  • Can't connect 3DS and android devices to HomeHub 3

Ok, devices that won't connect are:
    Nintendo 3DS
    Advent Vega Android Tablet
    Orange San Francisco Android Phone
My 3DS connected when I first bought it. but now I can't connect to the homehub at all, when I scan for wireless networks, where the Homehub should be, it just shows an empty router, doesn't show the SSID or security type.
With the two android devices, they show the SSID ok, but they don't recognise the security type, they show the network as open (when it actually has WPA2 encryption) - thus it doesn't give me anywhere to put in the passphrase
Anyone else had any trouble with these and know of any fixes?

sometimes interference from other wifi devices around your area can cause this...HH3 is normally on auto search for the best channel on wifi, and pressing the wifi button or reseting can resolve the problem, glad you have sorted it
    Q. There is smoke coming out of my open reach box... so can I have a new one.
    A. Sorry sir, The fault is showing at the exchange so your box should be ok.

  • Homehub 4 / cat5e / network connection problems ?!

    Dear All
Firstly go gentle on a very newbie but I have to try and get the answers to the below, as it's driving me mad !
& any help would really be appreciated.
Had my Homehub 4 connected for over a year and had decent wireless to the usual ipads/phone and sky.
Just upgraded my av amp to a new yamaha that has an ethernet cable connection etc.
The amp desn't have wireless unless I buy the extra gadget and plus I wanted hardwired as it'll be a better connection.
So trying to finally utilise the cat 5e cables that the builders put in over 18 months ago !
So have the cat5e cables connected to the homehub 4 under the stairs, where the BT engineer set it up.
Plug the cable into the back of the amp from the cat5e socket in the front room and nothing ?
Any ideas on what someone with no knowledge (me !) has done wrong please ?
What settings do I need to change etc.
Have got a new homehub 5 due to be delivered this week, as Bt have sent it through for free but seems like they're having issues ?
Any help would be gratefully received as it's driving me mad !
    Many thanks in advance.

I tried the cable sockets again and the kitchen one works plugged straight into my laptop, speed test shows 38 and 7 on upload.
The upstairs bedroom and front room sockets don't work, even with swapping all the cables around into the different LAN homehub sockets.
So spoke to my friendly builder and his guy is coming round to deal with it tmrw.
Hopefully should be all ok and may well be back when I try and set up a home network !!
By the way and for when I receive it, is the homehub 5 worth connecting up yet ?
Seems like there's a few issues that could be fixed at some point ?
    Many thanks

  • N8-00 WLAN/HomeHub Connectivity problem

    Hi everyone,
This will be my first post on this forum and the problem with which I came here is as following:
I got a brand new N8-00 phone from Orange and I really enjoy this phone so far, but what bothers me is , when I use my phone at home to browse internet, check my email or whatsoever - after few minutes my laptop doesn't get any connection with internet same as my phone and only after a hard reset on my homehub router I get my internet back, it all works very well as long as I don't use my phone, when I go online on my phone it all happens again.
    Please help,
as I really want to keep this phone, but it makes me a little bit worried that I can't use my Wi-Fi at home in order to keep my phone fully loaded with apps and all the good things you get with internet.
    Thank you

Hi I too am having this problem. Could you tell me how to change the settings on my homehub please.
    Thank you
You might need to refer to your BT Homehub 2.0 router's user manual or some other support documentation in order to get started, if you are not already familiar with configuring your router's settings.   Look for either printed or PDF user manual came with your router or go to BT support web pages and download the PDF manual  (link).
Use a PC that is connected to the Homehub via LAN and log in to router's management web pages using a web browser on the PC.  Based on the user manual it seems that you might be able to connect to your router's management interface by entering the url:   http://bthomehub.home  in to your web browser. If this doesn't work opening the management web pages by using the default IP address of the BT Homehub 2.0:    http://192.168.1.254
Refer to the sticker behind the Homehub 2.0 (and/or user manual) in order to find the "admin password" that allows you to change settings of the router after you have connected to the router's management web pages.
On the Homehub 2.0 management web page (connect via PC's web browser ):
Go to "Settings" and enter your router's admin password.
Go to "Advanced Settings" and again select "Continue to Advanced Settings" to confirm.
    Select "Wireless" and "Configuration"
You should now be at the page that shows advanced wireless settings of the Homehub 2.0 including channel SSID, channel selection, wireless interface mode etc.
In order to disable 802.11n mode and use the router in 802.11b/g mode do following:
Go to "Wireless interface type" and select "802.11b/g" mode instead of default "802.11b/g/n" mode and press "Apply".
After router management page shows that "Apply" was successfull you might still want to restart (power off / power on) your router to make sure that new settings were really taken in to use.
Hope this helps. Please note that the instructions above are based on the BT Homehub 2.0 related documentation floating around internet and instructions might not be absolutely spot on but should hopefully give you some idea how to change BT Homehub 2.0 wireless mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g.
