Connecting laptop to tv but have no sound

i connected my sony vaio laptop to my plasma tv with a hdmi cable and i have picture but no sound. Do i have to connect a mini plug to headphone slot and adapt it to rca or what. please help

You need to do three things...
1. Update the audio and video drivers for your Sony laptop by using the Sony updating software or going to the support page for your notebook and downloading the files directly for installation.
2. Configure the HDMI audio output properly. If it's not configured properly, you need to read up on how to do that. You must set the audio output to a format that your HDTV can decode. LPCM or Dolby Digital. You need to consult the manual of your TV and the user guide of your notebook to figure it out or you can just go online and look up the general procedures.
3. Get a wireless keyboard and mouse. Then you can put the laptop next to the TV on a cooling pad and enjoy the use of your laptop from your sofa if you have a table in front of it.

I can get sound for files ON my laptop but have no sound when I try to watch Hulu or use other web-based programs

My MacBook Pro has sound for files housed on my laptop (ITunes for example) but if I try to watch a web-based program like Hulu or Khan Academy there is no sound. How can I fix this? I was using wireless headphones a few days ago and it all worked fine but then the sound stopped on both the headphones and the computer. The video portion works fine, I just don't have any sound. I threw away the headphones and deleted them from the Bluetooth on the Macbook Pro but still I have no sound. Any ideas?

Bounced songs appear to have proper format but have no sound

What am I doing wrong? Is all I have to do to bounce a song - file/bounce? So far none of my bounces have any sound. They all appear to play normally but we can't hear anything. Does any one have any ideas?

What is the MIDI sequence triggering??? The Roland synth? Are you playing back the synth and Logic thru a mixer?
If this is the case you NEED to bring the Roland's audio outputs into Logic. You can do this in two ways:
1. An Input object.
2. An Audio track.
In either case, you need to hook up the outputs of the Roland to two available inputs on your sound card, and enable those inputs in Logic, on an audio track (if you want to record the audio), or an input object,(if you do not want to record the Roland's audio output).
If you are using INTERNAL synths...then you need to check your output routing. Are you routing ALL audio through output 1+2??? And then when you bounce, you chose output 1+2 as the bounce source in the bounce dialogue???

How to connect Macbook to TV but have reverse picture?

I'm not sure how clear my subject is, but basically here's what I want to do. I know how to connect my macbook to the TV and have my macbook screen show up on my TV screen. I want to reverse that, I want what's on my TV to show up on my mac screen so I can stream the picture on the web. Is this possible to do? What supplies am I looking at getting to be able to do this? I want to be able to broadcast what's on my TV through my mac, but I would also like to be able to work on my mac at the same time. I might be dreaming now right?

Can import videos to itunes but have no sound when on ipod

I have been at my wit's end trying to get my new ipod to work. I have some videos I have been trying to put on my ipod. I can import them into itunes fine, they play perfectly, but then when I convert them to ipod format, using itunes, they come out without any sound. It is saving them as .m4v, i have tried playing them in itunes and quicktime but neither of them play the sound.

You can remove the passcode lock (Recovery Mode) but you will not be able to bypass the Activation Lock.
The previous owner's Apple ID and Password is needed to activate the iPad.

Plug in guitar on iPad 3 but have no sound ?

I've plugged in with a big jack to headphone jack converter, then selected a guitar amp. The guitar is being picked up as I have recorded a few bars, however I have no way to hear the guitar until after it has recorded ? The headphone input seems to override the external speaker. I've tried using the monitor option as I thought this would sort it, put it does nothing ?
Obviously I can't hear any of my other tracks also if I plug the guitar in as the headphone input cancels the external speaker again
Any ideas ? This is very frustrating !

Depends which Macbook Pro, depends what cable you have. MBPs from 2010 onwards can transmit audio through their Displayport connectors if you have an HDMI input on your TV and an adaptor which also transmits audio. Not all Displayport-HDMI adaptors do this. If you're trying a VGA input on your TV, that will not carry audio.
If your MBP is older than 2010, you will need to use a separate audio cable to connect from your computer's 3.5" mini audio connector to the appropriate audio input on your TV.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You must restore from a computer.
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?
