Connecting Laptop to TV using Intel WIDI to watch Sky
Has anyone connected their laptop using Intel WIDI to a smart TV to watch Sky?I am continually getting an error and it looks like its being blocked by Sky.Using Amazon Prime or IPlayer and Netflix works fine, so i know teh SW and HW are functioning. If HDMI is used it works fine but i dont want to use a cable.
Only HDMI will carry the Aduio and Video together, if you use VGA, a audio cable is still required in the headphone jack to carry the sound to the TV.

Cannot use Intel widi with my Satellite L50-A-11T
Hi,
I have a Satellite L50-A-11T and i've tried to use Intel widi with Windows 8.1 and doesn't work, it says that the system is not compatible.
With Windows 8 it was ok and worked fine, but in the instruccions for upgrading it said to remove Intel widi.
Why is that?
Thanks in advance. You misunderstood this info.
Intel WiDi isnt supported in Win 8.1 on Toshiba notebooks BUT instead of Intel WiDi you can use Miracast.
But Intel WiDi is not Miracast.
Intel WiDi was developed by Intel.
Miracast is an standard supported by developed by WiFi Allianz and Intel is a part of this Allianz
Windows 8.1 as well as Android 4.2 support the Miracast standard.
But this does not mean that you can use it always you need the compatible hardware parts.
In case your TV would not support Miracast standard, you will not be able to use it -

Also you should ensure that your notebooks WLan card is Intel WiDi supported.
Ensure that you are using latest Intel version INTEL PRO wireless and Intel WiDi

Satellite P870-026 Win 8.1 - no mirror screen to TV using Intel WiDi
I have followed the Windows procedures to mirror my Satellite P870-026 screen to a new Samsun TV with mirroring capability.
The process is under the Charms menu and then to select Devices, Project, Add a Wireless Display. The first few times I tried, it found the TV but it usually came up with the message "No devices found".
If it did find the TV it didn't project the laptop's screen and the connection would drop out quickly. Now, it never finds the TV.
My Galaxy S3 phone connects and mirrors its screen very quickly and is a stable connection, so the TV is working fine. The TV is the current model Samsung UA60H7000AW.
As I understand the issue might stem from the graphics drivers, I've updated the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers but that did nothing.
I downloaded "Intel(R) WiDi Update Tool.exe" but it won't run. An error message says "Failed to launch due to network connectivity issue". I have no idea what his means as I never have trouble with WiFi.
I did find one suggestion on the internet, but relating to a different computer, and was to delete and reinstall the graphics drivers but it also warned of the need to be very careful.
Am I even going down the right path looking as the graphics drivers?
Any suggestions please.
HansThanks for the Toshiba notice. Working through the Resolution section, my laptop doesn't have "Intel Wireless Display" in its programs listing so there is noting to delete. The method to then connect a wireless display is the procedure I've been following but results in "No Devices Found".
According to:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-8/project-wireless-screen-miracast
my laptop does have Miracast as I do get the Add Device option so it should work. I seem to be back to square 1. -
HT4437 Can I use Apple TV to watch sky go on my iPad?
Can I stream sky go via Apple TV?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
No.
Sky have blocked their app from working with AirPlay. -
Hi,
I thought I could use Intel WIDI on my X230 (2325), but when I use "Intel WIDI update tool", it says "Your graphic driver has been customized by the OEM. Please go to the manufacturer's support site to update the driver and run Intel WIDI update tool again."
I tried to install Intel Wireless Display 4.2 and I also had an error message telling me that my laptop is not compatible.
My WIFI card : Intel Centrino Advanced N6205 2x2 AGN
Does my laptop able to use Intel WIDI ?
Solved!

I wanna connect my Laptop to my smart panasonic TV through wireless , for this laptop need to download Intel WiDi software but when i download it error is come that " intel wifi adaptor exist' how i can proceed for wireless connection to TV
Hi ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-2320tx Notebook and trying to connect to your Panasonic Smart TV. You do have to connect your TV to the Wireless router first. Here is a link to help you connect the to the WiDi software. If gives you step by step instructions how to connect the TV to your Notebook. I hope this helps, please let me know how this goes. Thanks. -
Use of Lenovo WD100 with Intel WIDI and Windows 7 - PIN problem
I recently bought the adapter Lenovo WD100.
It works fine when connected to my Samsung S4.
But I am unable to use it with my PC.
The PC has an Intel I7 processor, Windows 7 and the Intel WIDI 4.2 software.
When I open the window of the software WIDI 4.2, the PC find immediately the adapter WD100 but when I try to connect it asks me to enter the PIN that should appear on the TV.
Unfortunately no PIN appears on the TV.
Does anyone have any idea where to find this PIN?
Is there a way to read it in some files in your PC?
ThanksHi John:
Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

Windows 8.1 laptop cannot connect to the internet using USB Mobile Broadband stick.
I bought a new laptop and it came with Windows 8.1 installed. Well, things worked perfectly until I wanted to connect to the internet using my mobile broadband USB stick. I installed the software that came with the stick, and my laptop recognize
the stick but I still cant connect to the internet. The stick workes perfect in my Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptops, but IT DONT CONNECT WITH MY WINDOWS 8.1 LAPTOP. What can I do to troubleshoot this???
HOPE I AM SPECIFIC ENOUGH THOU...The PC Repair Guy,
If you haven't already, verify that you can connect to the internet through some other means such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet with your laptop to rule out any network setting issues. If you are able to connect successfully to the internet, use that opportunity
to make sure you have
Windows 8.1 Update installed as well as any other applicable updates your laptop may require.
You may also want to check the
Windows Compatibility Center to make sure that your device is compatible with Windows 8.1.
Another possibility is that the driver your laptop is installing for the device isn't the correct one. Check the device manufacturer's site for the most up to date driver they have available for Windows 8.1.
Hope this helps!

How can I connect personal hotspot to use the internet from my phone on my laptop?

Thanks for replying. The plan you have it would be an additional charge to add the hotspot feature. It's not free with the Nationwide plan. You would need to add the feature online at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon

ipod 5th generation will not turn on, charge, or connect to macbook laptop. i was using it for music then all of a sudden the screen went black and was unresponsive. i have tried using other cords. also my home button is broken. someone please help!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Cannot Connect Pavilion dv6 2020sa laptop to HDTV using HDMI cable
Hi
I have tried to connect my laptop to HDTV using HDMI cable but it just comes up with a 'No Signal' message on TV, any ideas? I have done a search on internet with no joy.
Operating system is Windows 7
TV is 32" LG LCD HDTVI have been having the same issues trying to connect my Laptop to my TV to use as a DVD player. A normal HDTV cable would not work. I went to Best buy, and found a HDMI cable that said "Laptop to HDMI cable" It was the only HDMI cable out of all of the HDMI that said "Laptop to HDMI". It was also twice the cost, $50.00 for a 10 foot cable. It seems a little to high in price so I am looking for a cheaper one on the web. If I find one, I will post to let you know.

hi all
im having trouble getting my laptop to connect to my mac using migration assistant. my mac has a code on the screen but my laptop doesnt respond and just says it waitng for my mac to respond.
any idea? pleaseHi Christina, belated welcome to Apple Discussions if nobody said it already.
I've had some experiences with these new flash memory recording camcorders, and I'll give you a quick rundown of what I've learned. Many of them (JVC, Panasonic, etc.) tend to record in a .MOD file format, which is non-standard, proprietary, and unrecognizable by most software. I thought Canon was usually a little more standards-compliant, but it appears they also use this .MOD format in your specific camera model. There are likely a couple ways we can get around this though!
In order to play the files, you will likely need to change their file format (.MOD) to .AVI manually. You'll have to locate the files on your Mac, and then manually change the file names so that the file extension (after the period) is .AVI
At that point, a video player application such as http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html>VLC should play the files fine!
You should be able to transfer new video files from the camera to the Macbook Pro with no problems as well. Just plug in the camera to the computer via USB, and also make sure the camera is plugged in to charge. Once it's plugged in, open iMovie (came with the MBP, in the Applications folder) and the MBP should take care of the rest.
Let me know if you have any success with any of this!
FYI, the thread that I got some of the above information from is here:
