Connecting Lumira to a BW Infoprovider

(While evaluating Lumira, after watching promoclips, reading papers and working with the free trial some questions are still unanswered. I kindly ask you for help… Supporting a clear structure, I decided to open a separate thread for each question.)
Is it possible to connect Lumira directly to a BW Infoprovider (DSO, Cube)? I didn’t found a clear answer, mostly I heard about connecting Lumira to BW query…
Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

Hi,
Yes, If you are using SP17, there is a BW connector feature.
By my understanding, it is designed for accessing BEx Queries. (but perhaps Cubes are browseable too, I haven't checked)
Certainly however, If you have BusinessObjects BI4, you can federate a Universe over BW Infoproviders using semantic layer.   This Universe can then be consumed via BIPlatform into Lumira.
FYI the Help guides are over here: SAP Lumira – SAP Help Portal Page

And have mentioned all the parameters needed for the connection correctly.
Current version is BW 7.4 and IDT 4.1
But m getting the error which is returning from the host due to failed RFC Connection which I have not understood.
Please guide me how to resolve this error and what is the reason behind this error. .
Kindly see the attached file of error.
    Your answers will be helpfull.

    Hi,
Check the attached wiki link to setup RFC connection. If this not already setup then ask your basis team to setup RFC connection. Before creating the IDT connection test the RFC connection in sm59.

if you set the manual call back then add higlighted parameters in the IDT connection.

  • Design studio connectivity with HCP

Hello, I am able to connect Lumira to HCP.
Wanted to check if we are able to connect Design Studio to Hana Cloud Platform at this time?
    Cheers!

My only experience with this is on AWS - and looking at the PAM https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/012002523100018972812014E I would lean towards AWS; this is what we used during the OpenSAP course with SAP's Jim Rapp
Looking at this thread here HCP is possible with Design Studio but the poster gave up: Connect SAP Design Studio with HANA Cloud Platform | SCN

  • Lumira on BW BEx queries

    Hello experts
We intend to connect Lumira to BEx queries.
How are the authorizations / access to BEx queries from the Lumira view handled?
    We don't have HANA.
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi,
at the moment, the desktop can only "visualise" BW results in an online manner, and not "prepare", "compose" or "share"   (i.e. the other main workflows)
the next implementation will be a 'download from bw' where the dataset will be queried down and stored in the local client.
either way, the authorizations concept will be the same - when the user connects from lumira to BW, they use a named user and password to connect to a BW SID (dropdown info coming from the SAPGUI logon pad)
then the Bex queries are accessible either by Roles or Infoareas
Bex Variables are handled in the manner you would expect - they are called when the connection to the query is established, mandatory ones are enforced, processed by authorizations etc (much like Webi, Crystal or Analysis via BICS)
    kind regards

  • Acquiring sales data from SAP ERP

(While evaluating Lumira, after watching promoclips, reading papers and working with the free trial some questions are still unanswered. I kindly ask you for help… Supporting a clear structure, I decided to open a separate thread for each question.)
How’s about connecting Lumira to a SQL-based SAP Instance to analyze sales data? Does SAP provide a “Business Content” similar to SAP-BW or do I have to join all the affected tables manually?
How would the scenario above be if I connect Lumira to a HANA-bases SAP Instance?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

    Hi,
there are a couple of similar threads already, which might give you suggestions:
    Retrieve Data from ERP Infosets
SAP Lumira: Getting Familiar Freehand SQL Against SAP ERP - then to iPad
both those links discuss using 'freehand sql' drivers in Lumira to connect to ERP Infosets . (a kind of ECC query)
a similar approach, going via Business Objects BI 4,  would be to have a Universe ontop of Infoset, and Lumira connects to BI4 to consume the Infoset Universe.
In both cases, the prerequisite is the definition of said 'infoset' - the creation of which would be handled by content creators within ECC environment, not likely the Lumira user.

  • Conversion of ABAP procedural ABAP OO in TRs, URs

    Hello:
We are planning on migrating from NW04 to NW04s n Q3.
We have a quite bit of ABAP routines in TRs, URs and User Exits.
We have plans on using 04s Datasource features
    I have following questions:
    1. When Datasource is migrated to 04s, are we forced to migrate existing routines to ABAP OO ?
2.Is there a tool that converts the existing routines to ABAP OO?
3.If we are forced to migrate to ABAP OO, What happens to custom ABAP code used to extend extractors in the source system?
    Appreciate your responses
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
from my limited experience with 04s and my not so limited experience with user exits I recommend the following way to handle the upgrade:
    1. Do the upgrade.
    2. Check out the new features and check where you need them. Normally you have a handful of Info-/DataSources where you want to use the new features and dozens of master data sources where you don't need to change the process.
    3. For those DataSources you want to change you should check out if you still want to keep the InfoSources. A transformation can directly connect the DataSource and the InfoProvider but if you load data into multiple InfoProviders you may want to keep the InfoSource.
    4. I wasn't able to check the tool to do the transformation but from my understanding it switches either a transfer rule or an update rule to a transformation and doesn't condense both rules and the InfoSource into a single transformation. (Andreas, is this true?) So you should use this on these UR/TR where you keep the InfoSource.
    5. If you want to skip the InfoSource create a new transformation for your new DS. Here you need to copy and adjust your coding to ABAP OO. But don't worry, it didn't change a lot and you don't need to think about classes and inheritance to do the implementation.

  • View Business Explorer Analyzer (BEx Analyzer) queries in NWBC?

    Hiya,
The business would really like to view their BW report via NWBC.
Currently they are using Business Explorer Analyzer (BEx Analyzer) - this is the analysis and reporting tool that is embedded in Microsoft Excel.
IS there any way that NWBC can connect to this?
Or would a different approach be needed for making BW queries in NWBC?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, by web enabling them. The latest and coolest solution available is connecting Lumira to the BEx query. There are many other options such as WAD, Xcelsius, Crystal Reports, etc. You should take this discussion to the relevant space (BEx, Business Objects, BI, etc).

  • Error with integrated authentication (sql server)

    Hi,
I need to connect Lumira 1.23 with sql server instances (of sql 2008 and 2012). In this case I need to use windows users and it seems there is a problem with the integrated authentication.
In some blogs and articles I have seen that the sqljdbc_auth.dll file has to be copied in one or more folder but I haven't clear this point.
Can anybody help to fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

I am very new to SQL Server and I am trying to access sql server from my .net web application. The environment is Windows 8 and SQL Server  2012
I have tried some of the blog solutions but could not open SQL Server Configuration tool in windows 8.
    Hi Sraven,
According to your description, SQL Server Configuration Manager is a snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console program and not a stand-alone program, SQL Server Configuration Manager not does not appear as an application when running Windows
    8. To open SQL Server Configuration Manager, in the Search charm, under
Apps, type SQLServerManager11.msc (for SQL Server 2012) or
SQLServerManager10.msc for (SQL Server 2008), and then press Enter.
In addition, there is a similar issue about connect .NET4.0 C# application to SQL Server 2012 database, you can review the following article.

  • Lumira Universe Connection only works on Local Server

    Hi guys,
My SAP Lumira always fails to acquire Universe Connection when I'm using it in my local computer.
When I use Lumira on the SAP BO Server and try a local connection to the Universes I have no problem at all.
I've already opened ports from 6400 to 6420. I also made some tests with the firewall disabled, but nothing changed.
I've included an attachment with the Lumira log message
    Thank you all.

    Hi,
With reference to Lumira 1.15, the minimal SP we support is BI 4.0 SP6. Please upgrade at least to this. Everything is detailed in the PAM https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001095842012E

  • Connecting Hana view to SAP Lumira

    Hi ,
I created a view in Hana system and used the Connect to SAP HANA One source option in SAP Lumira for the Dataset.
On the next screen i am able to see all views under different packages from HANA, but i am not able to see the new view created by me.
    My questions -
    1) Do i need to have certain privileges in order to see the newly created view in the view list at lumira level?
    2) Any Steps which i am missing in addition to creating an anayltic view, adding a data foundation to the view ?
    Regards
    Chaitanya Sharma

    Hi Chaitanya,
Check if the Schema and the package containing the AN view you have created is assigned to your USERNAME under Object & Package privilege respectively.
And while connecting to HANA System in Lumira login with the USER which has these assigned objects. Check if this helps

  • SAP Lumira Connection to Protected App Server

    Hi All,
Report in lumira on top of a universe, requires connection to BI application server (CMS Name, User ID & Password).
But in our production server we have siteminder integration and business users are not allowed to connect to application server directly, in this case can we use URL instead of CMS name OR is it possible to connect to application server without port opening to use Lumira ?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ankit Sharma

    Hi,
according to the help guide http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/vi01/en/lum_117_user_en.pdf
section 5.9.1 Connecting to a universe datasource
-> Enter the name or IP address of the server hosting your Central Management Server (CMS).
I feel this would be a very strong topic for consideration and future inclusion. Please could you submit your enhancement to the Lumira Ideas Place?    (over here: SAP Lumira: Home )
I seem to remember someone asking for the ability to connect to an @Clustername  but can't find it alas..

  • Connecting Microsoft database with SAP Lumira

    Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to connect a Microsoft database (Contoso) with SAP Lumira SP15.
If so, what would be the steps?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
isn't Contoso actually a sample datasource of MS SQL Server,  rather than a product itself?
in which case, yes, you can use "free hand sql" via JDBC driver.
Another option: If you have BusinessObjects BI, you can can surface the datasource through a Universe (semantic layer) into Lumira.
there are Tutorials on this Lumira SCN space to help with all the above, if you search for 'tutorials'

  • How can I create geographic charts with Lumira connected to SAP HANA?

    Hello All
I'm testing SAP Lumira and I want to make geographic charts with data from SAP HANA. This is possible when I use data from a local Excel-file. But not when I use data from SAP HANA. I was told it should work after installing Service Pack 8. But it still doesn't work. Maybe we have to turn something on, change a configuration file. Maybe it has to do with SAP Lumira, not with SAP HANA. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Here are some technical details:
    SAP HANA Version: 1.00.81.00.392776 (NewDB100_REL).
SAP Lumira Version: 1.19.0 (build 1099) (latest version).
    SAP HANA Studio Version: 1.00.81.0.
Windows Version: Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1.
    Kind regards, Robbert

    Hello Antoine
At paragraph 3.2.2 on page 73 it says:
Creating geography hierarchies with latitude and longitude data is not currently supported for SAP HANA data sources.
I think this explains everything. Well, almost everything. I created geographic charts with Lumira while connected with Excel or a csv-file. The question now is, am I waiting for an update of SAP Lumira or an update of SAP HANA? Or both?
    Kind regards, Robbert

  • SAP Lumira 1.17 Connectivity with ECC 6 giving error

    Hi Expert,
We're on SAP Lumira 1.17 and I'm getting attached error when I'm connecting with EC 6 via Query with SQL. I've attached the error log. Can you someone please look into this , how can I resolve this error to connect with ECC.
    I'm trying

    Hi Antoine,
    Thanks for response.
Are you able to connect to this ECC system using either:
    - a SAP tool like SAP logon
    Yes, I can.
    - a BI tool like information design tool (if you have access to it)
Yes, I can access. I can also connect UNX universe which is built on ECC with Webi as well. It's only in Lumira which is not working.
-Can you try from SAP Lumira changing the language used?
Yes, I tried to change different language (US and UK both) but not working.
-As the base error from your log file raised from ECC is
This error log is generated from Lumira only.
    Thanks,
