Connecting Macbook to AVR reciever
Im trying to connect my 2009 Macbook to my Harman Kardon AVR 1650 through an HDMI cable so I can watch video on my TV. The reciver is obviously connected to the HD TV. When I plug in the cord to HDMI 3 and select the correct input (HDMI 3), my computer screen keeps flashing the blue color like its going to connect but never does, and continues to flash blue, like it trying to work.
Any help would be great!!
Any luck with this? I'm having the same problem right now. It constantly tries and gets nowhere, and this is with mavericks on a 2.4Ghz core 2 duo Mackbook pro

How to connect macbook pro to panasonic tv with hdmi cable
How to connect macbook pro to panasonic hd tv with hdmi cable
Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has. -

How to connect MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50
Any experience with cables for connecting MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50 (or similar)?
It depend upon the model (age) of you MBP. If you have a Thunderbolt or minidisplay port, then you will need a minidisplay/HDMI adapter.
eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMI/
Or you can get an all in one:
http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Premium-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CADYD O/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361985588&sr=1-3&keywords=minidisplay+hd mi
If you have an older mac with a DVI port, you will need something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6
Note that audio is supported via HDMI for MBPs 2010 and later. Earlier ones require tapping the audio output port.

Update: audio problems connecting macbook pro to insignia TV: resolved
There have been posts from users who have expressed frustration that they cannot get audio when they attempt to connect their macbook pro to an Insignia TV.
http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=10830387
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2192206
Insignia customer service also attempts to state that the pre-April 2010 macbook pros cannot get audio output to the TV, because the units are designed to get the audio on the same HDMI and no alternative audio input is available on the TV.
http://community.insigniaproducts.com/t5/Televisions/Connecting-MacBook-Pro-to-T V/td-p/5564
For the Insignia models (from 2010 onwards and possible some from 2009 as well), there is a simple workaround that does not seem to be published elsewhere on the internet (as far as I can see):
Use the HDMI port 1 only (audio does not work with port 2, port 3 or port 4) to connect your macbook and you will receive 1080p video signal.
Use a mini stereo audio cable (example link below) and connect your macbook audio output to a designated green color coded audio port on the TV located right next to the VGA. You will receive full stereo audio.
Example link for mini stereo audio cable:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00116VJIOI recently acquired a new Insignia TV and had sound trouble. I went to Best Buy to inquire about the cable in the link above and the sales manager had doubts. He recommended a RCA cable with a male connection at both ends. The RCA jack is on the bottom edge of the TV display next to the VGA connection. The sound worked perfectly using the RCA cable from the headphone jack on the Mac. I connected the video with a HDMI adapter from the monitor mirroring port.

I use iwires to connect macbook to lg tv to watch netflix. How do you increase screen size on rv.I have tried display settings ,but not working
I would guess that the HDMI port on your mac is for output only - no input, and that's what your'e attempting to do when you attach the mac to your xbox. I looked in Mactracker and it lists the HDMI port as video output for both the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the 15" Retina MacBook Pro (your post didn't say which one you have), so looks like that is the issue..

Can't connect macbook pro to internet with airport extreme
Can't connect macbook pro to internet with airport extreme
If you have ethernet still on your MBP plug it in by ethernet and tell me if that works.
Tell me how the Airport is setup.. what broadband modem and router you have.
What OS on the laptop? Yosemite I guess.. since it is the most troublesome.
Did it work before whatever change was made? Has it worked in the past? When did it stop and what did you do that coincided with it stopping?
Upgrade to Yosemite?? -

I am having trouble connecting MacBook Pro (10.6.7) to Novell server. I get incorrect username and password message. I can connect worksations running 10.5 without any problem. Any possible solution? Thanks, Ned
Having the exact same problem with connecting ML and Snow Leopard machines to a Windows 8.1 machine. Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. An old thread, but did you find a solution?

MDP to HDMI adapter causing issues while connecting Macbook air late 2013 edition to Projector. Projector shows grains on the display.
Sounds like you may have been in extended display mode. If so, all you had to do was drag a window to the projector display. Or, if you wanted mirrored mode, in display preferences select check mirror display.

Connect Macbook to the Internet (VPN) through PC
I got a PC with 2 network cards and a Macbook.
On a PC I got VPN connection to my provider.
How can I connect Macbook to the internet through that PC + safely sharing my PC's contents only to my Macbook.I did all that. My question concerns more the software than the hardware. I already said that I have 2 newtork cards in a PC desktop and one in macbook. I got cables. I plugged everything in.
The problem is that the preparation work is described in so many details but the crucial program work is very unclear in the majority of web sites I googled. I need this part. -
