Connecting Macbook to Old Tv

Hi,
Im new to macs, I have a MacBook Pro 10.6.8, and would like to connect my mac to my very old TV, it has what i think is called a composite connection (it has 3 leads, red, yellow and white) please could someone tell me what i need to do this.
Im not very technical im afraid so please help

Your MacBook Pro has the new Thunderbolt connector which uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to output the video signal.
If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.). The audio may not pass through which means you'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs for Composite. Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Macbook pro keeps trying to connect to an old server

I have a macbook pro, just updated to OSX mavericks, when I turn the machine on, it will keep trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists (a windows pc I had at home I called "estudio"); how can I fix this? where is that the OS keeps the list of servers that the machine has been connected to? I already went through the option of "deleting all the list of recent servers" on the Connecting to a Server window.

Change your settings in Sharing preferences, for one, and remove the server out of the Finder's sidebar. Obviously, this is the result of transfering all your other computer's preferences to your new computer.

Having the exact same problem with connecting ML and Snow Leopard machines to a Windows 8.1 machine. Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. USB is the slowest. Firewire is faster. eSata is the fastest (and will be superceded by Thunderbolt). The old Fire was 4 pin (Firewire 400 and is essentially obsolete), new is 9 pin, Firewire 800. All of the will transmit data, simply a different speeds.
For eSata connectivity, you MBP must have an express card slot (and the appropriate eSata connection card) and you external enclosure must have an eSata input. eSata cables will only transmit data, therefor it will require power by Firewire or USB cables.

Im having trouble connecting to my old (but still a great printer) HP 5MP which is connected (be causes it has no ethernet built in) via an Ansante eternet/localtalk bridge to the ethernet network and ti my old G4 Power PC Quicksilver (using 10.4.11). That is shared both by ethernet and (via my vodafone wireless router to my 21" iMac Macbook Pro. When I bought my new iMac and MBP I kept my old G4 so I could still use by SCSI Scanmaker E3+ scanner and my non-USB, non ethernet printer by sharing it from the G4. Worked OK but now not so over either wi-fi or ethernet. I just updated to Lion on the iMac and am on Snow Leopard on the MBP and they say they can't find suitable drivers. My work around has been to print to "Mail pdf" to myself and pick it up on the G4 and print from there direct to the 5MP. But now I can't even connect to the 5MP from there since downloading a software update which was something about enhancements to Airport.
Have tried resetting tie printing system, repairing disc permissions and rebuilding the drive using diskwarrior on t he G4 but now I can't get any mac to see and add the 5MP. My old Epson Photo stylus 1200 works OK on USB but I need my 5MP tp work. Can you help on that please?

Those converters like the AsanteTalk are notorious for not re-acquiring Printers that drop out for any reason.
Get everything else powered up, then cycle off the AsanteTalk, count slowly to 10, then power the AsanteTalk on last.

The multigesture buttonless trackpad was introduced with the Unibody Macs that came out in Late 2008. Successive models have built upon that, adding 2, 3 and more fingers to the gestures.
Older models don't have the trackpad hardware needed to detect those motions and, hence, cannot support multigestures. Only resort is using combination of keys with the button, as disguise suggests.

It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:

First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.

If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.

In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

Insignia customer service also attempts to state that the pre-April 2010 macbook pros cannot get audio output to the TV, because the units are designed to get the audio on the same HDMI and no alternative audio input is available on the TV.

For the Insignia models (from 2010 onwards and possible some from 2009 as well), there is a simple workaround that does not seem to be published elsewhere on the internet (as far as I can see):
Use the HDMI port 1 only (audio does not work with port 2, port 3 or port 4) to connect your macbook and you will receive 1080p video signal.
Use a mini stereo audio cable (example link below) and connect your macbook audio output to a designated green color coded audio port on the TV located right next to the VGA. You will receive full stereo audio.

I recently acquired a new Insignia TV and had sound trouble. I went to Best Buy to inquire about the cable in the link above and the sales manager had doubts. He recommended a RCA cable with a male connection at both ends. The RCA jack is on the bottom edge of the TV display next to the VGA connection. The sound worked perfectly using the RCA cable from the headphone jack on the Mac. I connected the video with a HDMI adapter from the monitor mirroring port.

I would guess that the HDMI port on your mac is for output only - no input, and that's what your'e attempting to do when you attach the mac to your xbox. I looked in Mactracker and it lists the HDMI port as video output for both the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the 15" Retina MacBook Pro (your post didn't say which one you have), so looks like that is the issue..

If you have ethernet still on your MBP plug it in by ethernet and tell me if that works.
Tell me how the Airport is setup.. what broadband modem and router you have.
What OS on the laptop? Yosemite I guess.. since it is the most troublesome.
Did it work before whatever change was made? Has it worked in the past? When did it stop and what did you do that coincided with it stopping?
Upgrade to Yosemite??
