Connecting MacBook to TV - only can see desktop image!

I was wondering if you could help.
I bought a a Vid Mini-DVI to VGA adaptor and a 3m VGA Male to Male cable to connect my MacBook to my LCD TV.
It has a 'PC' VGA input and a 'PC' channel on the TV, as it were.
Now, it all seems to work fine.....except all I can see on my TV is my desktop picture (no dock, icons or anything else at all).
Have I set it up wrong, or do I just need to change a setting on my Mac to get it to display properly?
Any help gratefully received!

Hey,
I believe what your experiencing is the Dual Display Option. The MacBook will automatically start up in dual display mode. This means you can use both your MacBook Monitor and your external for screens. To have a mirror image press F7 to toggle between mirroring and dual. If you want to have your main desktop on your external and have your MacBook as the other screen you can go into the display preferences and there should be a little diamond above the screens that you can toggle back and forth to make it the defualt screen.

You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account.         thank you for your reply, this helped a lot. but I faced a new problem, when i get into the interface, you mentioned, recovery HK, and i want to reinstall lion, after i get connect to the internet, it saids, i can't download the OS component without install the lion. thats really bothering me.
thank you for your help anyways. do you still know any other solutions?
i tried disk utility function, and repaire all the errors, still can't get into the login interface.

Tablet & mobile can see desktop tabs but not in the other way

I have an android tablet, an android phone, a laptop, and a desktop at work. All with synced firefox.
I use aurora on laptop and desktop, and beta on both android.
On the desktop, i can only see tabs from the laptop, and on the laptop, only one from desktop.
And on both android, i can see tabs from both laptop and desktop.
In all cases, i can't see tabs from the both android.
Sync is ok because i can see desktop ones on the android but it's not as useful as it could be if i can't have all tabs on every firefox, i cannot read on my tablet or my desktop tabs previously opened on the phone. I can see them in the history, though.
Any hint about this?

Did you check the sync setting to see if the tabs are synced?

I've seen the opposite issue. My wife recieved an email with jpg attachments. She couldn't see or print them on her iPhone 4S but they showed up fine in iCloud or in the mail app. I had her forward the email to herself and then they showed up. I assume there is an issue with how Apple is processing the attachments and resending causes them to get reformatted in a way that makes them easier to handle.
So yeah. Seems like some bugs. Hope Apple fixes them soon.

You cannot see photos backed up in iCloud on your computer.
Camera Roll photos backed up to iCloud are still in your Camera Roll on your iPhone.
You need to regularly sync the photos to your computer. (then you can see them on your computer).

In lightroom 5 I have been importing images via a card reader. Now you can see the images on the computer but when I try to import it says that it cannot read the card any ideas how to solve?

What does this mean: "Now all of a sudden I can see the images on the screen"? Are you looking in Lightroom or your operating system or the camera screen? Where?

On a pc that is partitioned, both identities are using FireFox as browser. On one ID they can see all images on a website, such as CNN or NYT.com but on the other most of the images (within the story content and advertising images on borders of webpages) are missing. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I need help to fix it.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.image pref should be 1.
If background images are missing then make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows Accessibility settings and that you allow pages to choose their colors in Firefox.

There are also extensions like Adblock Plus (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.

You have probably moved the files outside of Lightroom. The images you see in LR are previews that were made before you moved the files.
Do a search for the files/folders using your computers operating system. (Explorer/Finder)
Once you have found them, you can point LR to the right location.

HT201514 I recently updated the Imac software, now i can't see my Wd back up drive in 'time machine' Its connected via firewire and i can see its connected if i check firewire on my mac.

I think you're confusing Time Machine (the backup software) with a Time Capsule (Apple hardware combining a wireless router and HD). Unless you have a Time Capsule you want to back up to, there's no point to clicking the Set Up Time Capsule button, if that's what you mean:

There seems to be some sort of problem with the drive, since Disk Utility thinks it's fixed, but immediately the problem returns (per the first sample you posted).
How old is the drive?

I've had similar issues with the Macs on my network (including the Mini on the TV); I generally cannot browse the streaming catalog with images and lose various levels of connects to Netflix CDNs (I usually lose all images of titles, in most cases cannot access the stream, in some cases can access the streams). This appears in my case to be a Mac specific issue (Windows machines, iPad, iPhone -- even Ubuntu, though it can't stream, can browse the library and get images from the Netflix CDN). Unitl today, a router reboot, clearing all caches and cookies, and some screaming would seem to get it working again ... Netflix (via phone) told me to contact Apple; their support script for Safari isn't even for 5.1 ... ugh ...
