Connecting MBP to HDMI

I have a MBP.... got it sometime between 2006 and 2007....
It's the original all silver MBP.
If that helps any. Can't remember exactly which year I got to be honest
I wanted to hook it up via HDMI. But IDK if i can actually do that.

You need this adapter and a HDMI cable.

What is the best way to connect MBP 13" late 2012 - (non retina) to HDMI TV input
...To get Video and Audio? With one cable ...
I'm seeing that the "rocketfish" adapter is not handling the job (from these forums).
I enjoy watching youtube videos, hulu, etc on the big screen through my laptop. The other Windows laptops I'ved had from Sony, HP, Dell, all had HDMI and was easy peasy.
I don't have the patience to buy and return 10 different types of adaters (nor would Best Buy appreciate that)
    Thank you!

  • Connect MBP 17" to Samsung 32" HDTV

    Hi
Bought a HDMI-DVI cable and connected the MBP to the TV.
The MBP recognizes the screen and allows for max HDTV resolution but when i try to set the TV to show the MBP the HDMI option is greyed out.
Is there a workaround here or am I stuck to the VGA connector on the TV?
Would of course prefer DVI->HDMI because of the better resolution.

This is a common missunderstanding. Assuming your HDTV has a native resolution of 1366x768, you will acctually get a higher resolution on the VGA-port since the HDMI interface is HDCP-protected not to allow higher resolutions than 1280x720 or 1920x1200 (progressive). It is also very common that the HDMI-connector is disabled for devices not HDCP-compliant which seems to be your case. As I see it there are 3 options for users connecting their macs to their HDTV's:
    1. Use the VGA connection at whatever resolution you prefer (1360x768 usually supported). With a high quality shielded VGA-cable this is satisfactory for most users.
    2. Use the HDMI-interface with the 1280x720/1920x1200 resolution set on the MBP for the HDTV (if supported by the display - ussually this is not the case).
    3. Buy an older HDTV with a (non HDCP) DVI-input, then all the above is usually not a problem.

  • MBP to HDMI TV and HDMI receiver

Hello: I want to use my plasma TV as my monitor; do I need a DVI to HDMI cable? Also, I am going to stream my iTunes to my receiver and want to be able to have the MBP wherever I want. Is Express the best way to go, connected with a digital optical cable? Thanks

If you are trying to connect to an HDMI port on the receiver or TV, then yes, you should get a DVI to HDMI cable. DVI does not carry audio, so you will also need an audio cable running from your MBP to the receiver. I bought really long ones at monoprice.com so that the laptop could sit on the living room table.
I have not used the Express so I can't comment on that, other than I know people that use it and love it.

  • MBP to HDMI looks fuzzy

Why does the font on my 32-inch Samsung 1080p LCD TV look fuzzy when it is connected to my MBP via HDMI to Mini Display Port? It is only when it is connected to the MBP. When it is connected to my PS3 it is crystal clear. How can I fix this if at all possible?

  • How to connect apple tv when the hdmi port on my tv is connected to the hdmi modem

I just got at&t uverse tv service.  The modem is connected to the hdmi port on my tv.  I bought a 4 in 1 out hdmi connector box, but don't know if this will work.  I've tried plugging the apple tv into one of the in ports, but I can't get it to work.  I've tried plugging both the modem and the tv into the out box and other components into the in ports, but it hasn't worked.
Has anyone ever run into this problem where the tv hdmi port is used and apple tv requires an hdmi port?
    thanks,
    Joan

I use this device as my 4 splitter and i get connection all devices working then after a few hours i get an error. can i get some direction on how to place each device on this one splitter? the Uverse box and TV only has one HDMI plugs, I put the TV HDMI from TV input to splitter Output, then I put Uverse cable in port 1 on the splitter, then appletv in port3.
I need some direction if you can provide any.

  • Hi all, I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to Sony Bravia tv using Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable with Audio Support , when connected to the HDMI on tv I get a picture of the mac screen saver ( the starburst ) no video/audio,thanks, Derek

Hi all, I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to Sony Bravia tv using Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable with Audio Support , when connected to the HDMI on tv I get a picture of the mac screen saver ( the starburst ) no video/audio,any ideas? thanks, Derek

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.
    Good luck Derek

Could be a bad cable or bad Thunderbolt port.
You have 90 days of free telephone support on a new device. You can call them at 1-800-MY-APPLE. Have your Mini's serial number handy

  • Problems with an Error when connecting Laptop to HDMI-TV Using PSE9

    Hi Guys.
Having a problem using my connection to the HDMI-TV at my house.
I am using Photoshop Elements 9.0.3, so no update is available right now. I did a nice Slideshow of my trip to Thailand. When i watch it on my Laptop everything is fine. Even if i go to Full Screen Preview. When i connect my Laptop (new Asus Notebook K52Ju, i7, 64Bit Windows 7) to my TV via HDMI everything works fine. So the connection is allright.
As soon as i start the Slideshow (Play Button), there comes the following error:
Elements Organizer - unknown Error "-2004353023" preview of the Slideshow
Doesn`t matter if i use Full screen mode or the regular mode.
There is always this error coming up.
Anyone has an idea what to do?
Or is there a better way to watch my Elements Slideshow on TV??
Please let me know what you think!
    Thanks to all from Austria
    Stefan

Anyone has an idea what to do?

Here is a sugggestion that might work for you:
If you are creating this slide show with the Elements Organizer Slide Show Editor--
then use the Output function of that slide show editor to create a WMV file of the slide show. Then use Windows Media Player to play the slide show from the WMV file with the HDMI connection to your TV.

  • Netflix tells me to turn off AirPlay mirroring but no AirPlay symbol on control center. I'm only connected to a hdmi cable and VGA adapter. It's on an iPad mini.

No airplay signal shows up and I'm not connected to anything else other than the VGA cable and that one connected to the hdmi cable.

  • What is the type of cable do i need for a macbook white to connect to a hdmi cable?

what is the type of cable do i need for a macbook white to connect to a hdmi cable? This is quite a problem since macbook white is not in production anymore.

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

  • Since upgrading the IOS 8 on my IPad 2 I can longer get a full screen on my TV when connected with an HDMI cable. anything I should change in my settings? Right now my iPad is mirrored on the TV with a black box all around the edge

I have reached the same conclusion in the mean time. I have done a bit of investgation in to other grahics cards and am seeing some that show SPDIF connections from the card to the mother board. I was not familar with SPDIF but it did a little bit of sluething. It is of course a digitally enconded voice. I am guessing that in that case the mother board ( assuming it supports this hardware option) would use this output and be able to translate that digital audio to its other audio outputs. That is a lot of guessing of course. I think my "solution" might  be a whole new desktop - a rather drastic course of action! I was in the proceess of getting ready to upgrade this machine anyway with a new graphics card (which I will now return), go to Win 7, and maybe even a new digital TV reciever,  and I don't want to throw good money after bad anyway.
    Thanks for your comments

  • I am trying to connect mbp to tv using mini display port and HDMI cable TVtuned tocorrect port as shows Mac wallpaper (purple star scene) but does not show what is on MBP.  What can I try so that I can see mbp display on TV?

What do I needto do to connect a tv as an external display for my mbp using a mini display port to hdmi cable.  I have tried display without success.  tv is receiving a signal as displays apples default wallpaper when connected but nothing from screen of mbp.

Soundls like it is working. Try dragging a window on the MBP to the edge of the screen and see if it appears on the TV.
There are two ways to set up the TV one is to mirror the MBP display and the other is to be an extension of the MBP's screen.
You change the settings in System Preference->Display
