Connecting mcbook pro to LCD

I bought all the required cables to link my Mcbook to the TV. Once i do it i see only the background on the TV and nothing else. I tried adjusting the resolution on my computer but it doesn t really work.
I was wondering if there was any configuration that i should do for the image and the sound.
Thx

Hi gbousta: It sounds like you are operating in Extended desktop mode. To see programs on the extended monitor, open the program, grab the menu bar and drag it to the other monitor. Note: You may need to drag it to the left or right depending on your configuration.
Hope this helps

  • Can't connect MacBook Pro to LCD TV

I have a S-Link mini display to vga adapter and whenever I try to connect it to my Samsung LCD TV or to my PC monitor, I have "no signal". I tried to detect displays many time and even rebooting my Mac, it doesn't work. What I have to do?

    Hey V.Kastner,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues connecting your MacBook Pro to an external display, in this case an HDMI TV. The following article may help in troubleshooting this issue further:

  • Connecting Macbook Pro to LCD Display using MiniDVI to HDMI Cable

I currently use an LCD TV to play movies from my Macbook Pro via the MiniDVI - HDMI cable. At the moment I just connect everything up and then use the Mirror Display in the arrangement settings. So my laptop screen is the same as my LCD TV screen. What I want to be able to do though is watch the movie on the LCD TV and also use the laptop to go on the internet, is this possible???

Yes. Turn off mirroring in the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference.

  • Connecting Mac Pro to LCD and TV LCD Problems

I have a 22" Gateway LCD that works perfect with my mac and I just recently bought a Mini displayport HDMI connection that I wanted to connect to my Sony 46" HD TV.
Now, everytime i connect it and I boot up my macpro it will freeze at the login and causes weird things to happen on my screen leading me to Hard reboot. The only way to stop it is if I disconnect the HDMI port from the tv and reboot. If I connect it while the computer is on, it wont be as dramatic with freezing but you can tell the computer is not acting like it should.
I tried connecting to a different TV and its the same thing.
    What should i do??
    Thanks for reading,
    Angel

It's probably the mini display-HDMI connection, the thing itself.
An odd thing happening I've found is that the mini display port is preferred by the Mac as the start up display. So, I'm wondering if the Mac doesn't find what it expects if that might be a problem.
Still, I bet a DVI to HDMI connection would produce better results for you. No guarantees though.

-->Click HERE<--  Does item "B" (Turn video on/off) in the last topic on the page help?
You control the camera for Skype from within Skype, so  Skype must be running to running to make video work.

  • How to connect my macbook pro to lcd

When I was shopping to buy hardware I brought a mini display to dvi & a dvi cable. When I got home I realised my lcd does not have a dvi port. I brought a
DVI Female to VGA Male adapter & connected it to my lcd. But my macbook doesnt to connect to my lcd. I am using windows 7 & osx.

For a 2010+ MBP you can connect with a Displayport to HDMI, which will include Audio.
With older MBP you will need a displayport to HDMI, if you want audio to the actually TV, then you will need to get a cable with either digital out from MBP to the HDMI, or USB audio mixed into the HDMI

How to connect macbook pro to panasonic hd tv with hdmi cable

    Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.

  • How to connect MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50

Any experience with cables for connecting MacBook Pro 17" Mountain Lion with HDMI port on TV, Panasonic TC-P55ST50 (or similar)?

It depend upon the model (age) of you MBP.  If you have a Thunderbolt or minidisplay port, then you will need a minidisplay/HDMI adapter.
    eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMI/
Or you can get an all in one:
    http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Premium-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CADYD O/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361985588&sr=1-3&keywords=minidisplay+hd mi
If you have an older mac with a DVI port, you will need something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6
Note that audio is supported via HDMI for MBPs 2010 and later.  Earlier ones require tapping the audio output port.
    Ciao.

having problems connecting MacBook Pro 2010 TO vizio 60 " tv using mini displayport to VGA adapter
non support warning appears pn tv monitor

However, I still don't get a view of anything on the desktop except for the standard Apple swirl.
Can you drag windows to the other display?
In the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, you can drag the display pictures to match the actual arrangement, drag the menu bar to the other display, or enable mirroring.

  • Update: audio problems connecting macbook pro to insignia TV: resolved

There have been posts from users who have expressed frustration that they cannot get audio when they attempt to connect their macbook pro to an Insignia TV.
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=10830387
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2192206
Insignia customer service also attempts to state that the pre-April 2010 macbook pros cannot get audio output to the TV, because the units are designed to get the audio on the same HDMI and no alternative audio input is available on the TV.
    http://community.insigniaproducts.com/t5/Televisions/Connecting-MacBook-Pro-to-T V/td-p/5564
For the Insignia models (from 2010 onwards and possible some from 2009 as well), there is a simple workaround that does not seem to be published elsewhere on the internet (as far as I can see):
Use the HDMI port 1 only (audio does not work with port 2, port 3 or port 4) to connect your macbook and you will receive 1080p video signal.
Use a mini stereo audio cable (example link below) and connect your macbook audio output to a designated green color coded audio port on the TV located right next to the VGA. You will receive full stereo audio.
Example link for mini stereo audio cable:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00116VJIO

I recently acquired a new Insignia TV and had sound trouble.  I went to Best Buy to inquire about the cable in the link above and the sales manager had doubts.  He recommended a RCA cable with a male connection at both ends.  The RCA jack is on the bottom edge of the TV display next to the VGA connection.  The sound worked perfectly using the RCA cable from the headphone jack on the Mac.  I connected the video with a HDMI adapter from the monitor mirroring port.

Can't connect macbook pro to internet with airport extreme

If you have ethernet still on your MBP plug it in by ethernet and tell me if that works.
Tell me how the Airport is setup.. what broadband modem and router you have.
What OS on the laptop? Yosemite I guess.. since it is the most troublesome.
Did it work before whatever change was made? Has it worked in the past? When did it stop and what did you do that coincided with it stopping?
    Upgrade to Yosemite??

Having the exact same problem with connecting ML and Snow Leopard machines to a Windows 8.1 machine. Oddly enough, connecting and copying to/from works perfectly from a Mavericks machine, despite the problems reported about Mavericks regarding the exact opposite. An old thread, but did you find a solution?

Anyone could advice for the best APP or software to install on my McBook Pro the same functiones of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)?

OpenOffice or LibreOffice should do the trick for you and both are free. I've only used OpenOffice and I highly recommend it. Try both and see which one fits your needs best.
