Connecting Micro USB and HDMI cables at the same time

I need to be able to use a Micro USB and HDMI cable at the same time to configure ATV to connect to WPA2-Enterprise secure WiFi network.  I'm using Apple Configurator to do this.  Because of the poor hardware design, it isn't possible to connect both the Micro USB and HDMI cables at the same time.  Does anyone have a worrkaround to resolving this issue?
I saw a similar post about this problem in the forums dating back to April 2013 with no real solution.  It's been over a year now and I'm hoping someone has found a workaround to this problem.  I have a bunch of ATVs that I need to configure for our classrooms.
Thanks!
MG

For what reason do you believe this is necessary?

  • G41TM-E43 - DVI and HDMI output at the same time?

I am looking to output to 2x 1920x1200 displays...nothing 3D and nothing that needs to be decoded...just some power point presentatinos and some flash within a browser window.
I am pretty sure the resolution isn't going to be a problem, but using both the DVI and HDMI ports at the same time is something I am concerned about.  I am looking for people with actual knowledge that this works...no guessing please.

The likelihood is that you won't be able to use DVI & HDMI at the same time, but you could use one or the other in conjunction with the VGA (D-Sub) port.

  • Problem connecting Firewire device and external HD at the same time

Hi. I'm attempting to record digital audio through a Presonus Firepod A/D interface via a Firewire 400 to 800 cable connected to one of the Firewire 800 ports on a mid-2010 Mac Pro running Snow Leopard.
The problem is that if I have an external HD connected to one of the other Firewire 800 ports on the computer and powered on at the same time, the connection to the Presonus Firewire device is not recognized by the Mac Pro. Not only that, performance of the Mac Pro is affected adversely and System Profiler is unable to list any Firewire devices. If I turn the external HD off, the Presonus device is recognized and listed in System Profiler and the machine runs fine. I'm able to connect two external hard drives via separate Firewire 800 ports on the Mac Pro and both drives mount w/ no problem. It's only when I try to connect one of the external HDs and the Presonus audio device at the same time that the problem occurs.
I used this same arrangement on a PowerMac G5 running Tiger w/ no problems whatsoever. If the 400 to 800 cable is bad, I would think it wouldn't work at all, but it does when only the Presonus Firepod is connected and powered on. Any ideas?

Have done more research and apparently this is not an uncommon problem: overloading the Firewire bus when connecting an audio device along with an additional device like an external hard drive. As I understand it now, audio signal is a bandwidth hog and the solution is to get a Firewire PCIe card which will have its own independent Firewire bus and which I'll use exclusively for my audio device.

  • How can I connect to Oracle and SQL server at the same time?

I have been trying to find a way to connect to Oracle Database through the developer 2000 and SQL server at the same time. I need to return some data from Oracle Database and some from the Sql Server Database. And update both through SQL. I find there is such a thing as the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL server. I can't find it on any of my CD's or through OTN downloadable files. If anyone can point me where to get this. Or tell of another way this can be accomplished I would appreciate it. TIA.

As far as I know you have 3 options depending on your specifications. I don't think option #3 will work if you need to actually join a
SQL Server table to an Oracle table.
    1. Oracle Transparent Gateway. I haven't used the Oracle Transparent Gateway but my understanding is that Oracle gateways are
separate purchased products from Oracle. I've never seen any free/development versions of it anywhere. You'll need to contact
your Oracle sales rep about it.
    2. Heterogeneous Connectivity. There's something called Heterogeneous Connectivity that could work for you - depends on what
version of Oracle you're on and what OS. You basically set up an ODBC data source on the Oracle server and modify the listener.ora
and tnsnames.ora files. You can then create a database link to SQL Server just like you would to any other Oracle database. You can
check your Oracle documentation for how this works. There's also some very good documents on Metalink that tell you how to do this
as well as a Heterogeneous Connectivity forum on this site.
    3. Use the exec_sql package available in Developer 2000. This allows you to open and execute cursors to remote databases within
Developer. We have an account validation process that uses this - when a person enters an account number in a form while logged
into Oracle it validates the account is valid in our main accounting DB2 database. We also pull HR information from DB2 into Oracle
this way. If you're using Forms 6i exec_sql is a built-in command, in Forms 5.0 and 5.5 you have to add it as an attached library to
the form. I think you also need the OCA options installed from the Developer software to have access to the library in Forms 5.0 and
5.5. The library will be in the $ORACLE_HOME\oca20\plsqllib directory for these versions. The Developer documentation should have
    additional information.

  • Can I use a usb and wireless keyboard at the same time on a mac pro

I wish to use the Mac Pro USB keyboard for Logic shortcuts and the Mac Pro wireless keyboard for normal typing etc. Is this possible?

Just as Matt has said, the Mac uses "all devices active" philosophy with keyboards and pointing devices. It does not automatically Switch to a later-installed device, it uses them ALL at the same time by default.

  • Connecting to wireless AND wired network at the same time.

I just bought 2 lacie 500 GB Network Hard Drives with Gigabit Ethernet. One for file storage, the other for a backup of the first drive.
My iMac connects to my DSL router using a Linksys wireless G Access Point, which is in another room in my apartment, due to the genius contractor installing only one telephone jack.
So can I use my iMac's ethernet port to connect to a gigabit switch, and then connect the 2 external HDD to the switch? I don't need the other computers on my network to have access to the external HHD, just my iMac. However I do need to be on the 'net and have access to the external HDDs at the same time.
    Thanks

No problem at all, the Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
So drag Airport to the top, Ethernet second and you should be good to go.

  • Airport Extreme N connect to N and G laptop at the same time?

I'm considering of getting the new airport extreme as one of my new mac book pro is N compatible. But my older one is only G.
I know the base station can connect to both N and G. But if there are one G only computer in the net work does the base station has to be always on G ? and compromised its full potential of running in N mode? Or can it be at N and G mode simultaneously, allowing the new laptop to connect at N speed and older one at G speed at the same time?
    Thanks for your help !

This is exactly my question. I have an Apple G base station, a PowerBook and and AX. I'd like to use those in G and run the rest in N.
Here's what I have: AEBS G, AX, G4 Tower with edimax N card, iMac Aluminum N, Powerbook G and HP AIO G. I want to buy an AEBS N and not have it slow down due to the G, but still run the G devices.
Based on what I read, I can ethernet my AX to the Extreme N? But that will put it too far away from my stereo. So I have a white G extreme base station, Can I ethernet that to run the G network and use my AX wirelessly as an extender to also hook into the stereo?
The Edimax PCI N card from OWC for my G4 is not yet installed. I am not 100% positive but I don't think it is 5 GHz. Is that an issue for max thruput? Are there 5 GHz cards made, or do I just suck it up? Does it make much of a difference in speed?
Would I be better off ethernetting the G4?
Finally, re the HP wireless AIO, G speed. Will the N network devices be able to print on it if it is connected by a separate G network?
I use my network as a client-server setup, so the increase in thruput would be welcome but not essential.
Thanks--hopefully this is not too confusing.

  • Can external HD connect to PS3 and Airport Extreme at the same time?

I currently have a external HD connected to my PS3 to play vids. Can I connect a AirPort Extreme to that HD at the same time to wirelessly drop files on the HD to play on the PS3?
    Thanks

Most likely, no. How do you propose that you would connect this drive to both devices simultaneously? Via a USB hub?

  • Is it safe to plug and unplug USB and Firewire cables with the computer on?

Is it safe to plug and unplug USB and Firewire cables with the computers on? I have a Mac G4 and a newly purchased IMac and I use one printer for both computers. Should I shut down the computers when I unplug the printer and connect to the other computer? How about when switching firewire drives.
Is there an easy way to have both computers connected to the same printer? I have an Epson 1280 printer.

Yes, you can unplug a printer without shutting down the computer, but if you are switching the printer to another computer then you should first turn off the printer, unplug it, re-connect to the other computer, then turn on the printer. This will assure that the printer will be properly recognized.
If you have your computers networked via Ethernet then you can leave the printer connected to one computer and share it with the other via the network connection. Printer sharing is turned on using the Sharing preference in System Preferences. You will need to Add the printer on both computers so you will need the appropriate printer driver installed on both computers.

USB/Firewire ports were designed to be "hot" plugged. You can safely plug and unplug devices without usually having to shut down the computer or the device. Some devices, such as external HDs, digital cameras and iPods need to be "ejected" first, so as not to damage their formatting or data.
You can network your Macs wirelessly or with an ethernet cable and then set the printer connected to one computer to be shared with the other computer.

I am using several Macs running Yosemite. I was recently “upgraded” to Xfinity’s new cable modem which can support both 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz networks at the same time. Actually I can connect to the internet over both with a satisfactory bump in speed for the Ghz. However when I connect to the 5Ghz the Time capsule disappears from the Airport Utility and claims to be Not Found. Is there something I have done wrong or just a Yosemite Teething Problem

First restart your mac and try again.
    It could be
that the router and the TC are interfering wirelessly with each other.
You can check this by pressing the option key while clicking on the wireless icon on your screen
    Open Wireless Diagnostics
    enter your user password
    Press CMD 4 then Scan
You will see all the wireless channels being used in your location and you can check if they are on the same channel
Make the SSID for the TC simple like MyTC
    Set 5Ghz to auto
    Update the TC
    Try again
