Connecting Microsoft Access to Xcelsius 2008

Hello All,
Is there a way to connect Microsoft Access to Xcelsius 2008?
Thanks

there is no direct way to connect Xcelsius to MS Access Database or any other database
there is should be a middle layer between .
you should use something of the following
1) XML data Button
2) Query AS a web Service
3)Live office Connection

    Hello,
I'm not familiar with Primavera P6 and Access. May be you should post the question in the

The following thread is about similar issue, you can try to use primavera SDK provider or ODBC connection:

We would like to use "SAP NetWeaver BI Connections" connecting SAP BI Queries directly in Xcelsius 2008,  we read in "Xcelsius2008_user_guide_en" that there is this new connection available.
Our Xcelsius 2008 is connected in a BO XI 3.1 Enterprise, but this connection is not available.
How to show and use this new connection type to read SAP BI queries directly ?
    Best regards,
    Mauro.

    Dear all,
please find the list of products required to run the new BI NetWeaver Connection in Xcelsius:

  • For Connect MS-Access to SAP - XI System , what Driver is required?

    Hi all ,
There is a requirement to connect Microsoft ACCESS Database from SAP XI System. To achieve such scenario first basis needs to deploy the required vendors Database Driver on SAP XI System.
So Please tell me what drivers need to deply for Microsoft ACCESS DB Drivers on XI System , to achieve such scenario.
I am following  a document whose name  is How To Configure External Drivers for the JDBC & JMS Adapters.
MY PI System is PI 7.0 and on Windows Server 2003 standard x64 Edition.
MS-ACCESS is on normal PC with XP on it
    Regards
    PS

    Hi,
What’s the error message you got? It seems that you haven’t install the correct driver for access the .xlsx file. Please download and install 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components from below link to check the issue again:
    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?id=23734
Besides, to change a .xlsx file to .xls file, we should open the .xlsx file, then click ‘Save As’ button under File pane, and then select the appropriate location and ‘Excel 97-2003 Woekbook(*.xls)’ as type for the file. Then we directly use the new .xls
file as the source in SSIS.

  • Xcelsius 2008 Connect to universe

    Hi:
I m is the fresh in BO area.  I install the BusinessObjects XI 3.1  and Xcelsius 2008,
I create universe , and develop same Webi report in the infoview.
now ,  i wanna use  Xcelsius 2008 connect to universe ,
then  use  universe as the dataSource.
but when i open Xcelsius 2008 click  File--Open from platform ,can not find any universe folder in it.
and  not find any related connection about universe  in "Data Manager"
what can i do . thx

    Hi ,
You can not open any universe files using xcelsius 2008.We can just connect to universe using live office from excel and we can fire a query same as Qwaas. The option you are trying to open can open only xcelsius file that was saved in BOE platform. In dashboard design[Xcelsius latest version] which is launched recently can connect directly to universe to fire query directly without using live office.
If you want  to get the data from universe without using Qwaas you can create a query in universe using live office.
In Xcelsius go to Excel and click on  live office tab and click on universe query. It will open the universe objects, using those objects you can create a query.
Note: To use live office, you need to install microsoft live office. You can download it from  sap service market place.

  • Web Service Connection in Xcelsius 2008

I have recently upgraded from 4.5 to Xcelsius 2008 and am having trouble getting the Web Service Connections set up correctly for my QaaWS.
I have 7 LiveOffice connections in a model that seem to all refresh on load fine and i have already set up a Web Service Connection that picks up the drill through path of what the user has clicked on and used them as input parameters to a QaaWS query.
    I now need to add another Web Service Connection for another QaaWS and i get the following error message;
    "Unable to Load URL"
I have checked the available QaaWS services using dswsbobje/qaawsservices and the 2 queries appear as i would expect.
I have checked the dsws.properties file and the user name and password are correct (which i would expect as teh 1st connections works in the Xcelsius model.
I have restarted the Tomcat server and CMS and this does not cure the problem.
I have even tried re-installing QaaWS.
    I have installed SP1 fix 1 for 2008. I am currently using XIR2 SP2.
Can anyone help as sometimes this functionality works and sometimes it does not. The 2 queries i want to use point aty teh ssame database and BO Universe.

    Hi Anthony,
You might check that type of the licence type of the user QaaWSPrincipal. I had a problem where the QaaWSPrincipal user was Concurrent Access License while my server was Named User only. Switching to Named User resolved the problem.
However, I am not sure that this is your issue as the you have one QaaWAS url working. YOu might want to check your URL is available
    try
    http://<name of server>:<Tomcat port number>/dswsbobje/qaawsservices
This contains a list of all URLs. Finally, you might look at importing the wsdl into other applications to see if the issue is Xcelsius or QaaWS related. You can copy to MS Office InfoPath with steps described below.

  • Xcelsius 2008 keeps crashing when invoking "Manage Connections" button.

    Hi,
I am trying to evaluate Xcelsius 2008 but it keeps crashing. I hope it is not a problem with the software, but rather with my computer (although I have tried it Windows XP and Windows Vista - both fail).
I installed Xcelsius 2008 (1.1.0.3) on Windows Vista yesterday and it was working great. I was able to make it connect to a web service that I developed and display the data.
This morning I am having frustaring problems... Everytime I try to click on the "Manage connections" button, Xcelsius just crashes. It can be an empty model and it will crash. I put some components and then click on the button and it crashes.
I went to the Windows event log to see if I could find anything usefull and this is what I have found:
Faulting application Xcelsius.exe, version 1.1.0.3, time stamp 0x487c64e0, faulting module MFC80U.DLL, version 8.0.50727.1833, time stamp 0x482bc450, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004c655, process id 0x160c, application start time 0x01c9038b7fe324cb.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Javier,
I would like to think the problem is with the machine as well, but it has ocurred on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
My Windows Vista is a brand new computer, with nothing but the OS (and whatever Toshiba has put in it), Office and Xcelsius.
Right now I am building a Virtual PC machine with only Windows 2K3 and Office 2K3 installed on it. I will download all the patches and all the updates from Microsoft for it, but nothing else. I will then install Xcelsius and see if the problem persists.
I have run Xcelsius logged as the admin and as a user and the problem happens regardles.
Do you think it could be with the free trial version of the software? What is the version of the MFC80U.DLL you use? My version is 8.0.50727.1833
I have been impressed with what the software can do, but I am not too impressed with the way the software works.

  • XCelsius 2008 connectivity to SAP Netweaver BW

    Hi All
I have installed xcelsius 2008 SP2(trial version) and trying to connect it to our BI (Netweaver 7.02) system through SAP NETWEAVER BW connectivity provided in xcelsius.
While connecting it gives an "error : 2032" . I have some questions regarding it :
    1.  Does licensed version is necessary for making a connection ?
    2.  Do we need to install some Webserver like Apache TOMCAT to run it successfully ?
    3.  If answer to  point 2 is yes , then how can i move forward to config the TOMCAT and establish the connection ?
    4.  The prerequisite , NW 7.0 EhP1 SP5 with ABAP and Java stacks , on server side , means Portal(Java) + BI(ABAP) system or something else ?
As per note 1408384 , i have checked wsnavigator for bicsremote connectivity , that is working fine.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Karan,
we are also facing this issue which is getting on our nerves.
    Our BI Backend has EHP2.
We have also tried different versions of Xcelsius 2008 (3.2, 3.4, 4).
No chance. After the password entry to our BI backend the system is working. And it ends without getting the query (meta) data  inside. We only see the query names. But after choosing they are not opening.
Authorizations in Backend and Portal should be fine.
The web services seem to run.
So we absolutely have no idea.
The evaluation version I also dont have. Because I could connet to another BI an could read the query.
    We are wordless. Stay tuned..
    Best regards Harry

  • Microsoft Access Connectivity in a UNIX DS server

    Hello,
We are connecting DS on an AIX server to Microsoft Access.
I know that this is possible via ODBC and a third party driver.  The one I found is by EasySoft.
Do you know of any other options?  Or a preferred third party driver?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Update to others looking for this info:
There is a driver from data direct. But it costs much more than the Easysoft driver.
    http://web.datadirect.com/products/odbc/other-data-sources.html
Another option available was connecting to Access via Oracle. (If Oracle is on a windows box) http://www.orafaq.com/node/60
For my project, they determined that pulling from flat file exports was fine.

  • Microsoft Access Windows 2008 64 Bit CFMX 9 64 Bit

We are migrating from CFMX 7 on a 32 bit Windows server to Windows 2008 64 bit with CFMX 9 standard 64 bit edition.  When attempting to add Microsoft Access datasources, I received the Unable to update the NT registry. Variable DRIVERPATH is undefined error.  I search the net and tried the recommended solutions I came across including installing Microsoft Office 2010 64 bit.  None of the solutions have worked.  I eventually came across the error "architecture mismatch between the driver and application" when trying some of the different solutions.
Most, if not all, of the recommendations I found online were dealing with Windows 7 or Vista, not server operating systems though.
This is a shared hosting server for our clients and some of them have older web sites implemented in Access and are reluctant to switch to SQL server because of the size and scope of their databases and it is really us who wish to migrate them in order to move to newer hardware and decommission the older server(s).
Has anyone successfully defined Access datasources within CFMX 64 bit on a server operating system and if so, how?  Thanks in advance!

I beleive that yes you can install 32 bit ColdFusion on a 64 bit system.  The troulbe is that you also need a 32 bit JVM and a 32 bit IIS.
As I understand it, with IE 7 you can mix and match 32 bit and 64 bit, but in IE 6 it has to be all one or the other.
I have read discussions on the hows and whys and the ins and outs of installing 32 bit CF on 64 bit systems.
What I do not recall is if you can install both 32 bit and 64 bit CF on a single machine.  You may be able to with a multi-home or J2EE configuration of CF enterprise.

  • Database connectivity toolset and microsoft access

    Bonjour,

    * Creating a Microsoft Data Link file (.UDL) for Connecting to Microsoft Access in LabVIEW
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/1D5EB4DCBD13106486256B9D005E11B0?OpenDocument
