Connecting my iPod to a Honda... quick ?

I am getting a 2006 Civic and it has an MP3 aux jack in the dash board (not the Honda link in the glove box). What do I need to connect my iPod to the aux jack?
Thanks

  • Connecting the iPod to a Honda or other automobile

Okay everybody - I am posting here as a warning and possible plea for help if the right people are out there.
This fall, I traded my vehicle in to get a 2006 Honda Civic, enticed by many of the electronic system upgrades. The biggest and most appealing was the integration of the iPod into the stereo system. This was great for me, as I am a musician and music educator, and I have over 10,000 songs on my iPod I listen to for various personal and professional reasons.
Through a close relationship with the management of my local Honda dealer, I was able to get the iPod connector for the Civic a few weeks earlier than it was to be released to the retail market. Design was completed, testing was completed, all they were doing was producing and shipping.
The iPod connector available to Civic owners, and all Honda owners, is a TRAVESTY! I was told that it would allow me to view and browse the songs on my iPod as if I were looking at the iPod screen, but on the car's radio display. WRONG! What it shows you is "Track 01," "Track 02," "Track 03," etc. Up to I suppose 10,000+ or however many songs you have.
In order to browse the iPod, you choose a different disc (from the 6-disc CD Changer controls) to change what style of browsing you're doing - by artist, album, song, genre, etc. Once you pick the kind of Browse, you hit a button, and a computerized voice starts to read off "A," "B," "C," "D," etc. You stop it when you get to the letter you want. For example, I stopped at the letter "B" while browsing by artist. I then had the choice of one of two B-52's songs. That's it. None of the other few hundred titles I have by artists with names beginning with "B," like Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Blink182, Bluecoats, or more.
I am now fighting with Honda to get them to take care of me, their customer. In addition to several other problems with the electronic system, the iPod ws the last straw - it was the big reason I chose a Civic over the Mazda 3.
If you are considering buying the adaptor for your vehicle, force your dealer to do a live demonstration before you buy. I spent $350 - almost as much as a new iPod - for a component that is largely useless.
If you have any feedback on how I can overcome this problem, please let me know. If you have a similar story, I'd be interested to know that, too.
    Thanks!
    Ryan

If you're connecting it to the stereo only and nothing is actually charging the iPod, then yes. It will drain the battery.
You might consider getting a dock & power adaptor. THis would allow you to connect to the stereo via the dock's line-out port and charge the iPod at the same time with the power adaptor.

  • IPOD POWER RUNS OUT QUICKLY WHEN CONNECTED TO PC

    Hi All,
My fully charged IPod runs out of power in half an hour when I connect to PC, whereas when it is connected to my MAC it recharges the power.
What can I do to prolong a battery time connected to PC?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You have a 3G iPod. If you are using USB to connect, then I would say it is perfectly normal since 3G iPods cannot charge via USB and therefore your battery will be depleted when you sync. If indeed you are using USB, I suggest you get an USB2/Firewire iPod cable and connect the iPod in this way: How to connect the iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable (You need the Firewire iPod charger which should be included with your iPod.).

  • TS1398 I can no longer connect to my home wireless on my ipad2, have done all the suggested fixes, still cannot connect.  Daughter cannot connect her iPod, but husbands laptop is connected to wireless.

All of a sudden my ipad will not connect to our home wireless.  I have reset the wireless settings, turned my ipad off and back on, turned off wireless and back on, basically have done all of the fixes suggested and still I cannot connect.  My daughter cannot connect her iPod either, but my husbands laptop can and is connected to our wireless.  The wireless is working and until two days ago I had no problems connecting.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Trouble connecting my ipod

i connect my ipod to the USB port and i even have itunes open but the ipod or itunes won't respond. do you have any advice on what it could be and how to fix it?
all help will be noticed and appreciated.

Can you see your iPod in My Computer or Device Manager? If you can, right click on it, select disk management, and format it (FAT32, not a quick format) then Restore it in iTunes. You will lose all data on the iPod.

  • PC sometimes crashes when connecting my iPod

    Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked and answered before, I couldn't seem to find anything relating to my particular problem.
On occassions when connecting my iPod to my PC at work I find that the PC powers down completely, without going through any shutdown procedure. I then have to switch off the mains supply, listen for what sounds like a slight discharge, switch on the mains supply and power up my PC. If the iPod is already cabled up there's no problem with powering up. This doesn't happen everytime I connect, just intermitently, but it's annoying as I don't have any problems with anything else in the USB ports I'm using. I've also tried different USB ports on the machine, and it doesn't seem to make any difference. The PSU for the PC is 380W, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Fortunately the iPod doesn't get chance to go into 'Do Not Disconnect' mode, so I've never lost any of my content. But it's still annoying!
Can anyone suggest what's causing this?
Windows XP Professional SP2 and all the current updates
    iTunes 7.5.0.20
    30Gb 5th Gen iPod
    Thanks

Yes, the list on my computer of what is in my iPod library is grey, not black font. I tried "manual" but it will not allow me to drag anything to the iPod. Not even newly purchased music.
That certainly sounds like one of the Automatic syncing options has been engaged.
... quickly doublechecking, just in case. After selecting "Manually manage ..." in the device tab for the iPod in iTunes, did you click "Apply"?

  • I get a USB error when I connect my ipod to my CRv

I have an iPod 5th gen...
When I connect it to my' 2013 Honda crv, via USB.. I get a UBB Error on my dashboard.  I hit the aux and other buttons but not able to get it play my music that is loaded on my iPod.

Does Honda say it is compatible with the 5G iPod? It just may not be compatible.
Did you reset the car system?
    Sometimes this works;
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Connecting two iPods

I am trying to connect an iPod touch (4th Gen; ios6.1.6) with an iPod touch (5th Gen; ios8.2) but they are not detecting each other. I have re-started both devices and reset the network settings. In both cases the result was the same and neither device could detect the other. Is there an incompatibility between Bluetooth 2.1 and 4.0? If not, what other options do I have to get them to detect each other?

    Hi Barry,
My son has a game (that has a "local play" feature) that he wanted me to play with him. He's got the iPod 5th gen and I was going to commandeer his older brother's older iPod to play along. If it isn't supported, I might have to try my wife's iPad and see if that will work. Or, maybe just get myself an iToy of sorts!
    Thanks for you quick response!

  • Itunes keeps shutting down when I connect my IPod Classic

Itunes shuts down whenever I connect my IPOD classic  and sync attempts to start.  I have had this IPod for several years and I have had Windows 7 for over 6 months.  I am trying to update versions, but I get an error message with that also.I have also seen posts on Microsoft and they aren't helpful.....I have seen many posts on Itunes also regarding same issue. What is up when the company will not fix their problems with the products?

I downloaded the 64bit system....did it like 3 times.   Finally, I found some other helpful hints.  I tried loading ITUNES in safe mode, still couldn't get it to not shutdown once I connected the IPod, I then logged into one of my other user accounts, then I was able to restore the settings, however, it removed all my songs and syned with the Itunes on that user acct (which was my nano IPod).  That was ok, because then I was able to go back to my regular account and sync and updated all my songs....just had to have my kids authorize me again on Itunes.  Think it's a racket to keep upgrading, changing things and not supporting the stuff that still works.....my classic works just fine nd holds 5,000 songs...I only have about 1500; so I have long way to go.  When my display cracked and the LCD was all messed up. I sent it to IFIXIPODS fast.com and they replaced it, quick and cheap--hats off to them!

  • My itunes keeps shutting down whenever I connect my ipod.  It works otherwise however.

My story is long.  Yesterday, I tried to connect my iPod to my computer to allow it to charge.  Itunes crashed and my computer told me my iPod needed to be reformated.  So I went through the procedures as it showed me on the screen and reformated the iPod.  I tried plugging it in and itunes still crashed.  I've tried reinstalling itunes, resetting the iPod to factory settings (using the itunes program on another computer), restarting the services in administrative tools, deauthorizing and reauthorizing the account, changing the drive letter, and just about everything else I've read that might help online and none of it works.  I tried putting in my brother's iPod to test to see if itunes would work then, and it did.  I'm not sure what the problem is though since I reset the iPod to factory defaults.  Can somebody help?

  • HT1335 Connecting PC Ipod and Mac Ipod to MacBook Air.

    Hi,
I need to clarify a few points. I think I signed off too quickly! The 'how to determine your iPods hard disc format' does not read the same on my two IPODS, and the Mac one,
does not read as per "support.apple.com/kb/HT1335 states?
In the SETTINGS, 'about' for the Pc iPod, it states, Format windows, as the last item, which read as described.
However, my mac iPod reads (last there items) = Serial number, Model and finally Version? So, the serial number is not the last item, what does this mean?
    Regards,
    Still Terrified (cyfrommayo)

"Then when it finally did, her iPod showed up in iTunes but all the music was grayed out"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
"Also, her iPod switched back to play mode (meaning it no longer read "do not disconnect.)
That's normal in automatic mode, it automatically disconnects when it's finished updating. When this is changed to manual or the iPod is enabled as a removable hard drive the "Do Not Disconnect" will message will remain until you manually eject. Safely disconnect iPod
"Do we need to do something to her iPod for my mac to recognize it?"
Have a look at these articles if the iPod doesn't connect properly:
iPod appears on the Mac OS X desktop but not in iTunes
iPod missing in iTunes and Mac desktop

  • Connecting my iPod gets my iTunes and Finder to get stuck! Any suggestions?

Hi, ya all... I saw there are some similar threads but with no useful answers, so I'll start a new one.
A while ago, after several weeks of flawless performance, my iPod classic (120 GB) has begun giving me problems. Although I'm not sure it's it... it may be iTunes, I dunno...
You see, as soon as I connect it to my Powerbook to sync it, iTunes does start, but quickly gets to the "coloured spinning wheel", as does the Finder!
Needless to say I can't do anything about it. I can't wipe my iPod clean and start all over (since it's not recognized at all) and I can't update its software whatsoever (even if there's no need to do it, since my last update was roughly a month ago).
The iPod itself displays the "connected" screen, as everything was OK, but on the computer it's not connected at all (since both iTunes and the Finder are stuck).
Then, when I forcefully unplug the device, the computer says that I should have done it in the proper way! *IS IT KIDDING?!?!? IF IT ONLY LET ME DO THAT, I WOULD!!!! (THAT F£#%ING PIECE OF JUNK!)*
Anyway... I seem to be stuck in a rut, since the very act of connecting my iPod to the Mac seems to make it go nuts.
I already re-downloaded iTunes to the last available version, and I already did the "press 'menu' and the center button" trick on the iPod.
    Now what?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Alex

Well... go figure... I tried to connect it once more, just for the sake of trying once more... and after a loooooong while the problem seemed to fix itself.
    Really...
    *_GO FIGURE!_*
Still I want to ask you if that thing ever happened to you and, if so, how did you manage to resolve it.
    Thanks again

  • My ipod shuffle battery dies quickly.  Any suggestions?

My ipod shuffle battery dies quickly and when I plug it in to charge it just blinks orange. . .

    Hello jharris1222,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The blinking orange status light indicates that the device is syncing with iTunes.  Please see the following for more information:
Blinking orange indicates that the unit is syncing with iTunes or that disk use was enabled in iTunes. In this state, iPod shuffle may be charging or fully charged. Check the charge status icon next to the iPod shuffle in iTunes or eject iPod shuffle from iTunes but leave it connected to USB and determine if the status light changes to solid green or solid orange.

  • Once i connect my ipod it disables my lynksys internet connection

ok, i just got this thing today, finally, well i installed the necessary software, and updated it as well, i then connect it to my comp, and it disables my lynksys connection, i use a wireless router, and a usb style antenna, for some reason once i connect the ipod to my other usb port, my lynksys icon shows it as disabled, so i cannot get on the internet, or connect to itunes, the only way i can get back on the web is to unplug th ipod usb cable and restart my comp. Any idea what the problem might be??
    i greatly appreciate any help,
    thans

Follow the troubleshooting methods in your car manual. As mreid62 stated, use the USB cable you got with your iPod (presumably from Apple) to connect your iPod to the car.
If the car gives no error message in response to you plugging in your iPod and/or you don't see your iPod charge, it's likely a car issue.

  • ITunes crashes when I connect my iPod to it...

For the past 2-3 days, everytime I connect my iPod to iTunes, iTunes crashes. I have to go to "Task Manager" to disconnect the site and then come back on and quickly disconnect my iPod.
This has gotten to be a really big problem, because I'm not able to transfer music, and I'm afraid it is going to damage my iPod. It may have already been damaged about a week ago when iTunes was crashing everytime I pulled it up. I got that solved only to have this latest problem start.
Has anyone else had this problem with connecting their iPod to iTunes only to have it (iTunes) crash? If so, how did you solve it?
Thanks for any help I can get.

We did upgrade the Norton Anti-Virus to the 2006 software, but only after the problem started, and I also used the 2006 upgraded for my iPod, which I downloaded from the Apple's website.
I have tried a new USB cord and port, and I even took my iPod out of the docking stand, just in case it was bad, but none of this worked.
I have installed software called "Mediashop TunesPlus" to help transfer music from my iPod to the iTunes Library, but, when it didnt' work on my computer, even though the package said it would work with the iPod and was compatible with iTunes. I removed it when I started having so much trouble with the iTunes crashing.
Will any of this affect iTunes? If so, what should I do?
