Connecting my Ipod to a loaner computer

My computer is down in the dumps and i need to create a playlist. can i connect my ipod to a loaner (friends) computer just to make a playlist? I dont want to plug in and accidently lose my music. itunes is not installed on the loaner computer.

In order to create a playlist on your iPod, you would need iTunes on the loaner, and your iPod would have to be in manual mode, not auto-sync. If you're in auto-sync mode, you can change to manual temporarily and then change back to auto-sync once your computer is up and running.

  • My computer crashed, how do i connect my ipod to a new computer

My old computer crashed (died in power surge).  I have a brand new computer and a backup of my music files. How do i connect my ipod to a new computer and re-assign my music files to the ipod on the new computer?

Open itunes, connect ipod, select what you want, sync.

  • When i connect my ipod touch to the computer and it brings up itunes, and it starts syncing, it just stays on the last step(6) and I can't download anything else to my ipod.

I connected my ipod touch to the computer.  When it brings up itunes and start to sync, it stalls at the last step (6).  This keeps me from being able to add other songs from my library to my ipod.  I'm very new at this and maybe just don't understand how it works.

  • I connected my iPod to a new computer, but somehow lost most of my music in the transfer.  How do I get it back?

I connected my iPod to a new computer and transferred the files, but somehow I lost most of them in the process.  How do I recover these files and transfer them to the new computer?

If these files you lost from your iPod Touch are no longer in an accessible iTunes library or backed up somewhere else, I'm afraid you are out of luck. There are expensive data recovery solutions out there, but I'm positive if they will work with an iPod's hard drive.
You should be able to redownload most iTunes purchases via iCloud. For music imported from outside of iTunes such as downloads from another music store, or tracks ripped from CDs, you'll need to either rerip them into iTunes or redownload them from their original source if possible.

When I connect my iPod touch to my computer, I have a list of Events on my iTunes-iPod-Photos. I want to erase these Events. However, the photos are NOT on my MacBook Air-iPhoto. When I check one of the Events and then hit Apply, the photos appear on my iPod. And one last thing: When I connect the iPod and open iPhoto, iPhoto tries to load New Photos (I think), but nothing happens. Any ideas?

  • Is it possible to connect your ipod touch to a computer that doesn't have iTunes installed on it?

My computer that I usually use has recently died and I cannot access my iTunes.
Is it possible to connect my ipod touch to a computer that does not have iTunes just so that I can get my content off my ipod?

    Hello,
    What you mean by content?
But anyways you will need to install iTunes to the other computer for syncing/backuping etc.
Just download and install on the other computer.
And if it's not a HDD problem with you old computer you can maybe get back even some backups if you had.
    Hope it helps,

CAN I CONNECT MY IPOD CLASSIC TO ANY COMPUTER AND UPDATE ANY MUSIC THAT I HAVE PURCHASED FROM ITUNES ON MY IPAD?

Plug the iPod into the new computer.  When it pops up on the left sidebar, right-click on the iPod and select "Transfer Purchases".  Make sure that you Authorize the computer to play content purchased with that account, or else the music will not play.

  • How do i connect my ipod to a new computer without losing the songs on my..

I bought a new computer and I've installed itunes on it. I want to transfer all the songs on my ipod to itunes on my new computer. How can i do this without losing the songs on my ipod? Can anyone help me?

    scottydubs,
    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.

  • How can I connect my ipod to a new computer without deleting all my music

I just got a brand new laptop and when I connected my ipod and iphone 4 it prompts to syns a delete everything.  How can I avoid that.  I tried using the manual setting, but once I press apply it asks again to sync and delete all my music. Is there any other way to accomplish this?

That's exactly the way it is designed to work.
When you attempt to sync your iDevice with a new computer/library, iTunes will wipe the contents of the device and replace it with the contents from the library on the new computer.
To avoid losing content, first copy or move the media from your old computer to your new computer.  Once this is done, the iDevice can be synced without worrying about iTunes removing the content as it can be synced back.
