Connecting my ipod to windows after replacing screen

after i correctly replaced the screen for my 5th generation ipod it wouldn't appear on windows when hooked up or charge, but when you try a wall charger it is fine. i've tried different wires and different computers and apple won't help me fix it. help please

Let's try it this way....
1) Was it ever working before?
2) Between the time it was working and the time it stopped working, what changed, either on your computer or on the iPod? Did you update any software (including iTunes)? Did you install any new USB devices?
It is starting to sound like the problem is an iPod that got corrupted during a sync due to communication timing problems with iTunes 10.5, but I won't know until I learn whether it was working before and what started the problems was an upgrade to 10.5. If that is the problem, then there are a series of suggestions in the summary post that I linked that should help you figure things out.
This is why I need you to carefully think about what changed between the last time it was working and now. It could be as little as the iPod being assigned a different drive letter.

iphone 4 has no service after replacing screen and updating, phone company says sim is fine. any ideas? thanks

We had this happen with a ipad mini, took it back to person who worked on it, after a week with trying to get it working again, he replaced it. I will agree with the other replies take it back to repair place there must be something inside the phone that if you don't do repair excalty right it messes up all phone functions. Also I would give the repair person a time frame to either get it working or replace it.

  • Connecting new iPod to Windows XP

I just got my iPod nano today. I used to have an iPod mini, so I already have iTunes filled with music. I plugged in the nano and opened iTunes and a box popped up saying I needed to download the latest iTunes, so I did. I restarted my computer, pulled up iTunes again but the same box popped up. I don't know if it's supposed to, but iTunes never looks or seems any different when I update it than it did 3 years ago when I first downloaded it. Maybe there's a step I'm missing? Anyway, if anyone knows how get my iPod to show up on the computer, that would be helpful. Thanks.

Assuming you're using Windows, the current version of iTunes is 7.5.
Click on the "Help" tab, and select "about iTunes". It will tell you which version of iTunes is currently residing on your computer.
If it is not 7.5, then you will need to update your software.
(A thought that may be important. Start iTunes from your "Start" menu rather than the task bar. Sometimes an old icon stays on the task bar, but it doesn't connect to the new version of the program.)
If you're running iTunes 7.5, then shut down your computer, disconnect your iPod, and restart the computer. Once it is started, start iTunes, then connect your iPod once more.
This SHOULD start the process of recognizing your iPod. If not, we'll need to know if Windows recognizes that new hardware has been connected. You may have a bum USB port or other issues.

  • Probs with connecting to itunes on windows after using a mac previously.

I had an iBook in the past and only connected my 60gb iPod through that, recently i've had problems with my iBook so its being repaired. So that i could add music to my iPod, i set up iTunes on my mothers laptop windows) and spent maybe £90 on songs to completely update my collection, but when i tryed to connect my iPod to it, a box just pops up saying "in order to sync this ipod, you will need to restore it" which of course i dont want to do, as i will loose the 2000 songs i already have on it, which i won't beable to put back as all of those songs are on my original source (ibook).
If anyone knows why this is happening, or has any tips to help, i would be so grateful. Thanks very much
    C

I also reccomend MacDrive, but if you have a friend who has a Mac, maybe you can use some third party software and 'back-up' your music using software that will rip music from iPod to computer. Now that you have raw mp3's or m4p's you can use a hard drive, add those songs to your mom's computer, and there ya go, all your songs, requires a lot of hardware, and maybe if you dont have a friend with a mac, sneak into one of them Apple Stores, when the sales associates are busy, and you can do whatever you want on their computers.

  • 4s No sound in calls after replacing screen

After replacing the screen on an iPhone 4s, I have no sound in calls.  Other callers can not hear me and I can not hear them.  have tried with the speaker on and off.  The speakers play music and sounds just fine.  The mic pics up just fine if I do a voice note.  I can also listen to voicemails through the earpice, speaker, and headphones with no problem.  So, all functions of sound are working correctly except in a call.  I have restored the phone to factory and it is latest firmware with no jailbreak.  I am in the process of putting a piece of tape between the noise canceling sensor and the screw below it as I've seen with the 4 but I have no idea what else it might be.  Any ideas?

Talk to whoever replaced the screen. Apple doesn't repair the display on the iPhone 4 or 4S, they replace the entire phone.
The iPhone is not user servicable. Apple does not sell parts.
If you want help fixing it yourself, try someplace like ifixit.com.

  • Using ipod on windows after using it first on mac

Alright, i really hope someone can help me. When i bought my ipod i first used it at the store with friends and got lots of songs and vids from the apple computers at the store. Little did I know that once you use apple first, you can't just go to windows. Does anyone know how i can start using windows without having to format my ipod????
I've got both senuti and ipod copy but itunes wont recognize it unless its formatted first??...WHAT DO I DO?

If you want to continue to use a Mac-formatted iPod with Windows, then you need to install third-party software on the Windows machine to allow it to read an HFS+ volume.
    MacDrive would do the trick.

  • Occasional freeze and Sad iPod on restart after replacing harddrive

Ok, need another techie to offer an opinion here. I started having issues with my 60gb a couple months ago, freezing, getting the sad ipod screen alot and getting worse. I determined to the best of my knowledge, being a Systems Analyst at work, that it was the harddrive. The ipods out of warranty, so I found a replacement drive online from a HD company. I installed the new HD, and after finagling it for a bit (battery very low) I restored it. Working great, until this morning on way to work, it froze on me and had some difficulty reseting, I finally had to do the System Reset from the Diagnostic Menu. This happened once again at work. It's been running fine for the last 2 hours, so Im not sure whats going on with it. The new HD was guaranteed 100% working and free from errors. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you (or anybody out there) think that restoring to an earlier software version would also resolve the (now infamous) problem of the folder-with-question mark icon?
Unfortunately, I believe we're still using the original software that was mailed with our Ipod. As of now, the Ipod (4g) does nothing but beep and show the folder with a question mark.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? as we're just out of warranty? Many thanks.
    Hello,
This is more of a results post than a question post.
Recently I had several problems with my clickwheel
iPod, including having it freeze and not respond and
eventually going into the failure mode of cycling
through the icons listed in the the subject line. I
tried all of the recommendations I could find,
including Apple's "five Rs" and going into the
diagnostics mode as described in this site (more on
    this later):
    http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmo
    de/
    All tests came up Okay.
I tried erasing (using the iPod internal method and
the Disk Utility in OS X) and restoring the iPod
countless times. Nothing seemed to work.
Finally, I managed, somehow, to get the Disk utility
to show the hidden 32 MB FAT partition (I can't
remember how this happened). I erased (formatted)
and restored that, and instead of restoring the
current (3.1.1) iPod software version, I restored to
3.1. This seems to have done the trick. I'm fairly
certain that just restoring to 3.1 would have fixed
    the problem.
The troubles started shortly after updating to the
most recent software version and seem to have gone
away by backing up to the previous version.
I think going back a software version would fix many
problems people suddenly seem to be having with their
    iPods.
    Cheers,

  • Touch no longer works after replacing screen for Yoga 2 Pro

Screen was cracked so I replaced the screen.  Now touch doesn't work.
There is no "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC Settings" in Control Panel.  In PC info it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display."
Touch DOES work on LENOX as I ran it from a usb drive, so it is not a hardware problem.
    I have reinstalled Windows.
I have another Yoga 2 Pro and comparing Device Manager in both I see no differences.
How can I get the touch to work again?

    ColonelONeill wrote:
Does uninstalling and reinstalling the touch screen device under Device Manager get it to show up?
Well, I did update the display adapter and the HID-compliant touch screen driver, and a host of other drivers.  Also did a reinstal of windows from system restore, but I guess as far as specifically uninstalling and reinstalling the touch screen device, I guess not.
I sent the laptop to the company who I bought the screen from, (Laptop Repair 365) because they said that they would fix it for free.  I sent it yesterday and they already got it today and said they fixed it.
I asked what was wrong and they said a falty screen and they replaced it under warrenty for free.  Great company!
I still don't understand.  The touch worked when running linux so how could it be a falty screen?

  • IPod shuts down after white screen

I just replaced my 5G's screen (original was cracked), but after starting up, the screen is immediately all white (apple logo or menu never shows up) for a couple of seconds, I hear the HD, and then it shuts down. I can not reset using apple's method as it just keeps restarting the same way with the white screen?
Anyone have an idea of what could have gone wrong with my screen update? The instructions were pretty straight forward, and I followed them carefully.

i believe that i damaged the connector somehow (no idea how), and have sent it in to get the logic board replaced.

  • Black spots IMac 27 even after replacing screen

    Hi,
I am really disappointed from Apple and my IMac 27.
I have purchased a brand new IMac 27’ 6 months ago.
After several weeks of use I have noticed dark spots appeared all over my screen.
After searching the web about it, I have realized it is a common problem shared by many IMac 27 users.
I have taken the IMac to IDigital labs (Israel’s Apple premium reseller) – and they agreed that the screen is defected and needed to be replaced.
I was so disappointed; buying what should be elite model of computers turned out bad only after few months of use.
Also, during my search in the internet I have discovered that this problem reproduces even after the LCD panel was replaced.
After being in IDigital labs for more than 2 weeks, I got my IMac only to find out that the screen is still defected and has even bigger dark spots in it.
IDigital now says that the new screen is also defected and that sometimes Apple ships damaged repair parts. Now, I have to wait for 2 more weeks until the new screen arrives.
I would like to replace my IMac with a new one.
I don’t think I should have a refurbished product only after several months of use.
    Regards,
    Eran.

I am pretty sure I am having the exact same problem as you. Random small black dots placed in different spots all over the screen?

  • I FORGOT TO INSTALL SOFTWARE FIRST BEFORE CONNECT MY IPOD INTO WINDOWS XP!!

  • How do I connect my iPod to Windows??

I Have this problem and I don´t know if this is the right place to ask. Anyway, I had My ipod formated on a Mac, but since in my school all they have are PCs i figured that I could sync, Charge and even listen there (I have the manually manage songs option cheked), I installed my ipod CD and when i conected it, it said that it didn´t have format or something like that so I can´t even take my files with it...
    How can I solve this??
Because a friend of mine also has and ipod (formated on a PC) and when conected to my Mac everything seems to work just fine (meaning: it cherges and it can be listen)
Hopefully I´ll find my answer, Thanks!!
(Hope I made myself understood, I´m not and English speaker)

Macs can natively read/write to a Windows-formatted iPod, but the reverse is not the case.
Windows cannot read/write to a Mac-formatted iPod without the use of third party software.
If you want to use your iPod on both platforms, your best bet is to use the iPod Updater utility on a Windows PC, and Restore your iPod.
This will format it for Windows, and it will work on a Mac as well.
