Connecting my MBP to a amplifier and projector to use as music server

Hi,
I plan on using my MPB as a music server with my hi-def audio system.
I would like to know if the DVI out also supports sound? How can I use my MBP to play all the tunes through the amplifier to my audio setup and also project via my projector so I can surf the net using a BT keyboard and mouse?
The A/V receiver in question is the Denon 3808 and the projector is Panasonic AE-2000.
I would appreciate any help.

short answer, the DVI out port on your mac doesn't carry any sound data. for that you will have to use the headphone jack with adapters if your amp needs a different type of plug.
if you're really serious about the sound quality, you should consider an external USB box. there are many out there that work well with mac osx. i can't think of any off the top of my head, but a quick google search for "USB external sound mac osx" would bring up a few good results.

Iphone randomly shuts down and resets when using the music player

I have been listening to almost the same music list since i got the iphone 3gs at launch. When I upgraded to the latest iOS software, the phone now automatically shuts off and resets on certain playlists. I did a full restore, ddnt work. Installing Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using one JumpStart server

Hi All,
Is there any possibility to install both Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using only one JumpStart server?
Also it could be performed using flash archives?

Actually I do not understand how it will work
together.
Maybe I will describe my point of view.
I have Solaris 10 with JumpStart server which is
configured and works fine.
So the next step to have Solaris 9 installation is:
* copy Solaris 9 OS boot and installation image to
the local disk using setup_install_server
Q: If this script fails what to do?setup_install_server should work fine unless you're installing on a ZFS filesystem. Part of the script is checking for sufficient disk space. I think the script may not work properly in all situations with ZFS.
* run add_install_client script from the Solaris 9

New MBP (OS X Lion) and can't use dial up. Now what?

New MBP with OS X lion and found out I can't use dial up. It appears I can't use an external modem. What are my options? Satelitte, mobile hot spot with Verizon, ??? I live in a very rural area in North Idaho so no cable or broadband. I currently have iphone5 with Att but at my home it's on extended network so I don't think having a moble hot spot with them would work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi babowa, OS X Lion is not compatable with Apple USB external modem as sated on other threads and on Apple support. My land line company is Frontier and they do not offer DSL service. Believe me I have been checking with them every 2 months for the last 2 years and I keep hearing its not slated for your area yet.
I do have an ethernet port on my MB but only a standard phone jack on my wall so a ethernet cable wouldn't do me any good.
When I bought my MBP a couple of weeks ago I said I only had dial up internet connection and the store personell said I needed a "56k to USB adapter" which they didn't sell but I could pick up at Best Buy. They had one for $50 (I forgot the brand) but I didn't want to shell out the money until I knew for sure thats what I needed and because of their return policy. like I said I'm a novice so maybe I'm confused on the terminalogy. Is the "56k USB adapter" the same as an external modem?

I lost connectivity from my mail aol account, and can not use mail to email, the email account is off line. What do I need to change to bring the account in line? The take accounts online function will not allow it to go on line

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, just confirming that you realize you can always access your AOL email account by going directly to www.aol.com from the Safari browser (or Firefox, Chrome, etc.) until you get the Apple Mail problem fixed.
If you cannot connect directly through a browser, it's quite possible that AOL is doing maintenance or having a temporary problem. It happens with surprising frequency to most online hosts. I usually check downrightnow.com, but AOL is not one of the services for which they collect trouble reports.
Reconnecting your Apple Mail to your AOL account:
In the Apple Mail menubar, click on the Mailbox, Get New Mail, and highlight the AOL account.
You should see the 'spinning wheel' next to the account name for a moment while your AOL mail is retrieved.
That should successfully reconnect you.
Occasionally my ISP seems to corrupt a few packets and I'll get a message that all my external email account password are rejected, and asks me to re-enter them. Instead of re-entering passwords, I click 'cancel', and use this same procedure to re-connect.
NOTE: I'm on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6, and Mail 4.5 (1084) but I believe the process to reconnect did not change since OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
After that Reset let the iPad reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

How to sync ipod when hard drive and external drive used for music?

The Ipod can hold all of my music. My laptop has some current music, the external drive has old music albums. How do I set up the music library / itunes library to sync with the ipod and not erase the music from the external drive when it is not connected.
I am used to adding mp3s to player, and they stay there until deleted. Now I sync the Ipod, and if I don't keep the external drive attached, the Ipod loses the old music.
I have searched all discussion lines and do not quite understand the how to of multiple libraries versus other options.

Easiest way is to make sure your exHD is plugged in before opening iTunes and syncing your iPod.

Upgraded and could not use purchased music any more

I upgraded to itunes6 yesterday and everything went well until I tried to update my ipod. an error msg came up and told me that i could not add all of my music to my ipod. it said that the software was to old. the music that i lost was the music that i had purchased from itunes. i have the 4 button 15GB ipod and just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem

I also upgraded to the new itunes and when I went to play music I had purchased from the old Itunes I was told that I was not able to play the music because I was not authorized or some such....then of course I also am unable to connect to the Itunes store and in general the new Itunes is really poor. I also updated my quick time and I think that was another mistake. I have not tried to hook my ipod up nor will I until I can figure out mess.

The use of an OPC Server is the way to go when dealing with LV. If you already have Siemens OPC Server then use that. Otherwise, NI has a product called IA Severs/Lookout Protocol Drivers (LPD), which has a large selection of drivers for PLC's. After configuring the driver, LPD is the OPC Server for the device.

In relation to Wireless Speakers, what does 'Connected Music Server' mean?

Need some advise. I am looking at purchasing a Wireless speaker. I currently have a MacBook Pro 10.8 which has my music stored in iTunes. My phone is an Android 4.2.2 device.
Therefore, I need to buy a wireless speaker that supports AirPlay (aka stream music from my MacBook Pro) and also has an app that I can install on my Android device which can threby access the iTunes playlist so that I can use my phone as the remote control.
Based on the above requirements, I narrowed down my chocie to the Denon Cocoon Home (whose app is also Deno Cocoon) and the Pioneer A4 XW-SMA4-K (whose app is Pioneer ControlApp)
Question 1:
The Denon App says this:
- When connected to your home Wi-Fi network you can further expand your choice of music by using the Music Server to browse and play all the music that is stored on your PC, Mac or Network Attached Storage (NAS) drive.
- DRM protected music is NOT supported by the Denon Cocoon app (or any 3rd party music app)
My question what does one mean by a 'connected music server?' If an AirPlay speaker receives iTunes music, does it automatically become a 'connected music server?' Technically, is music in my iTunes app (some purchased from iTunes store, some imported) considered DRM protected music? Can ithe app read the iTunes music given the above contraint?
Question 2:
The Pioneer App has a lot of complicated lingo that says:
Network Audio Player
- Browse and select music files on your connected music server
AV Receiver
- Browse and select music files on your connected music server
Network CD Receiver System
- Browse and select music files on your connected music server
Wireless Speaker
- Volume up/down
- Select Internet Radio Stations
- PUSH PLAYER
It uses one app for multiple devices and in the app description has a breakdown for what the app supports for every device. Now the 'connected music server' is not mentioned in 'Wireless Speaker' but the same is mentioned in 'Network Audio Player' so what does that mean?
I am more veered towards the Pioneer speaker as it costs $100 less and has better reviews but I will go with the one that will aloow me to use my Android phone as a remote control to access the music that the speaker is streaming from my MacBook pro.

PBG4 tries to connect via airport express, but I want it to use ethernet!

Hey y'all, and thanks in advance for your help!
I use airport express to connect itunes to my stereo, and for nothing else. My computer, however, keeps trying to connect to the internet through the airport express, and I end up having to turn the airport off until I'm on a website, then turn airport back on.
How do I tell my computer to NEVER attempt to connect to the internet via airport, and to ONLY use ethernet to connect???

I don't use a proxy server to connect to the internet, but Firefox automatically configures itself to use the loopback address.

I have a direct connection to the internet and don't use a proxy server. Every few weeks, Firefox automatically resets itself to be configured to use a proxy server at the loopback address (127.0.0.1). Manually changing it back to "No proxy" works, but I have to do so each time I open the browser or even a new tab. The only fix I can find is to create a new profile which gives me a new, clean install of FF, but then I lose all my add-ons. This has happened repeatedly now and it's extremely frustrating. I have scanned for malware but have not found any problems.

hello rjlasser, first of all please make sure that none of your extensions is causing the issue (some youtube censorship circumvention addons also make use of proxies for example).

Try connecting the Minidvi to the VGA and connect it all together, first try turning ing on the MBP, then connecting dvi to the the projector. Make sure your projector input is set for VGA. If noo joy invert the affored mentioned proceedure. You should see your image if not, try going to system preferences>displays, click display. Try readjusting the resolutions in display. reboot monitor.

Can't connect to the App store, iTunes and software update with MBP 13

Hi,
I have a MBP 13 from 2011 and I have a really annoying problem with connecting it to the App Store, iTunes and the software update. It claims that I have no internet/wifi/network, although I clearly have it since I am watching series through Netflix and are on Facebook at the same time. So naturally I started to look in to the firewall and it works fine, since it does not and has never blocked any other Apple products/programs. So I continued looking everywhere in the computer, found nothing. And finally I decided to re-install the MBP and I still cannot connect to neither of these programs.
I feel that it is really unnecessary to hand the MBP in for service for a problem like this, so I was wondering if there is someone out there who has a solution to this problem? Beacue , as I mentioned earlier, my internet/wifi is working perfectly with everything else, so I really do not understand why App Store, iTunes and the software update does not work.
