  • Can't connect to mobile broadband with NetworkManager and Huawei E1550

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect to mobile broadband internet (3G) using my Huawei E1550 HSDPA USB Stick and NetworkManager but it won't work.
At first, the LED on the usb device seems to indicate that the connection is established, but immediately afterwards it starts blinking again (which shows that no connection is established).
nm-applet then tells me that I've been disconnected (although the connection was never established).
I installed usb_modeswitch and modemmanager and enabled modemmanager with the systemctl command.
The ID of the device is 12d1:140c, which is supposed to be right after the modeswitch.

  • S860 and X2, Google not connecting on mobile network.

I live in Sweden. Had my S860 for 3 years and it has been working fine but some months ago it was not connecting on mobile network with crome and play store. Restart and it could work for some time the it was gone again. At the same time Hotspot, skype and OS update is working fine. Got a new sim card i november but it did not help. This was going more and more bad and finally it did not work at all. Tried to reverse OS a few steps back and still not working. So i tought that it was something to do with hardware. Now i bought a Vibe X2. Away from sweden for the moment (Saudi Arabia) but this one does the same when I try to connect. OS update working but Crome says ssl error and Play Store just wont connect. Saw some forums said it might be time and date that was wrong so i tried to change to local format but it was the same. My S860 i was waiting for 6 month before i could buy it (not for sale in Sweden) in Saudi. Haas been very pleased with it so now when it has been messing with me i had no problem to buy a new Lenovo phone. This time just waiting 3 month before i could buy it in Saudi. Hope this is something I can get some help to solve. /Nils

    Hi Ragge
Can you tell me your firmware build number(for the S820 and Vibe x2) and Baseband version(for the S820)?Settings->About phone....
''Had my S860 for 3 years and it has been working fine.....Sorry, checked and it is a S820 i have.''
The S820 has been relesed in May 2013.
''Tried to reverse OS a few steps back...''
    How did you do that?.
    Can you install THIS ->Open the app->MTK Settings->Telephony/BandMode->SIM 1(Do the same for SIM2) and make a screenshot(Power&Volume-) ->post the screenshot here.Thanks

  • How do I get Lion machine 10.7.2 to connect to Mobile Me?  I need my calendars, etc.

I bought a new Lion IMac 10.7.2 and moved over everything it could from my 10.5.8 Imac machine by using target mode since the two migration assistants didn't want to talk to each other..  But it did not move over my addresses, calendar, mail preferences, etc.  Apparently Lion 10.7.2 won't connect to Mobile Me (but 10.7.0 and 10.7.1 could).  I thought I had till June to move over!  I need to keep some of my machines non-Lion because we have developed a ton of software over the years that won't run under Lion.  We are upgrading now but it will take a long time to redo all our Director apps. I use IDisk every day to move files from my office machine to my home machine to my laptop to my remote office.  This forced march to Lion will really kill my productivity if I can't use iDisk and if I have to archive all my calendar and address files and usb stick them over.  I spent an hour and a half with customer service on the phone but he couldn't help me.  I asked him point blank "I can see easily all the things I'm losing by going from MobileMe to ICloud.  What am I gaining new that I didn't have before?".  His answer:  "just that it's free".  He added "I can suggest some third-party paid solutions for you".  He was nice but it didn't solve my problem.  Already my iPhone and my iPad are no longer syncing with my Tiger and Snow Leopard machines - I guess they have left me behind.  My iPhone shows an old calendar and old address book and my iPad 2's calendar and address book, like my new Imac, is empty.   I've never known Apple to be so inconsiderate of their users that for some reason or another can not upgrade.  (oh yeah, when you start up your new machine and it asks you if you want to transfer, do it THEN.  Even though it says you can transfer later, it didn't want to do it without creating a new user and then we had to move everything over manually, fix permissions, HORRIBLE!)  I've now wasted 8 hours on this migration and I give up.  I'm still going to use my 10.5.8 and 10.6.8 machines untill I'm forced to abandon iDisk. Forcing you to change ALL your machines to Lion is not reasonable when you have some older, but still very capabile, machines that just can't handle the overhead.  Anyone else manage to solve this problem?  (Maybe my trouble is that I wanted to change the short_name on my new machine from a different short_name on my old machine?)

Sorry, just how much knowledge does it take to click on a link, locate a phone number for the UK, then dial it?
How do you back up? If you never bought a Mac how would you have backed up? Maybe read a book.
How do you use a compatibility chart? Why don't you check it out first before asking the question?
Rather than wishing you had never bought a Mac, think seriously about whether you're up to even owning any computer.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I've set the rules in port forwarding for the following ports:
    Port 80 is HTTP Server
    Port 443 is HTTPS Server
    Port 21 is FTP Server
    Port 22 is SSH Server
All these are now open and connect to Stora, which has an address supplied by DHCP.
However, when I check with various online port checkers, none of the ports are open and checking the trouble shooting logs of the BT Home Hub shows that the connection is being rejected. This is a sample of the message that is shown:
    IN: ACCEPT [57] Connection closed (Port Forwarding: TCP 192.168.1.69:22 <-->86.141.184.236:22 [184.72.89.72:42894] CLOSED/TIME_WAIT ppp1 NAPT)
What can I do to make port forwarding work? I can't change the IP address of the Stora as I need to get into it via its web interface to do that.
I can navigate directly through Explorer to the files on the Netgear Stora NAS but not through the web interface.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

i think by applying a static DNS i got it working, not 100% sure yet. edit: yep that worked, everyone can connect once again.

how do i connect my iphone4 to my new officejet 100 L411 printer? I feel like I have been misled by buying this printer because all my reseach said that the compatibility was fine. If I cannot use bluetooth can I conact by a cable at least?

    Hi,
Firstly please check to see if your printer in the list:

If YES, you can use this to fix
    iPhone: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/airprint/
If NO you have to print using other apps (if applicable) such as:

  • Fixing a IP address on new infinity hub

    Hi All,
For various reasons I want to keep the same IP address on my laptop (wired connection).
So I went to advanced settings/home network/devices and selected "yes" to keep the IP address as the same.
    Worked fine at first.
But now it seems to ignore the fixed setting and allocates a new IP address every time. Looking at the device lists there are numerous entries for the same laptop. Some with "yes" selected some with "no" selected.
Have tried deleting the extra entries but still have the same problem.
Anybody else had this problem or know a solution ?
    thanks
    David

    Hi Ectophile,
It was set to receive a DHCP address. Last night I tried with fixed addressing. It works ok , but I've got over ten different OS installs. It worked fine with my netgear adsl modem/router. So I wanted to keep it the same with the new BT hub.
It makes life easier with new installs as most start with DHCP enabled.
It seems that the device list keeps the connected status and on a reboot of the laptop a new address is allocated ignoring the mac address associated with the IP address.

  • New Media Hub NMH405 - Transfer speeds

I have a brand new Media Hub with 2 Seagate 1.5 TB drives in RAID 0 (Linear 2), and the transfer and read speed are horrendous.  The Media Hub has the latest software (2.17.13), and the drives are not the batch of drives that are affected by freezing/throughput issues.  Maximum SMB transfers are aound 3 MB/s bidirectionally.  Playback seems to be okay for the most part as long as I dont start more than one stream.  The main networking device is a brand new Apple Airport Extreme which has 3 GBE and a dual band draft N accesspoint.  Everything else seems to be in order, but the speeds are horribly slow.
I was going to put the device in single drive mode to see if the problem was the RAID, but I wanted to check first to see if anyone else had any ideas.

I would like to get some info on your system that you are testing with - OS version, connection type (are you hardwired or wireless to your router), computer specs..etc.
How are you measuring the performance? Are you using a tool? We would love to make sure the Media hub is running at the best possible performance, and from all our testing internally and externally it is, so your issues are certainly a concern.

  • IWeb giving error message that I am not connected to Mobile Me -  but I am.

Last week I created a web site on my brand new iMac and successfully uploaded it. However, I have NOT been successful in uploading any updates. After several hours, I got a message stating "iWeb couldn't connect to Mobile Me. Make sure your Internet conncection works and try again." I have done everything I know to try to resolve this problem and have been unsuccessful. My Safari Internet connection is working; I am connected to Mobile Me; I am able to upload to a folder; I do not have proxies on; I have restarted the computer and of course I have the latest SW since I have a brand new computer.
Is anyone getting the same error message? Any comments and/or suggestions is really appreciated.

This may be a long shot but check out this post from MacInTouch's site last Wednesday. It may work for you although for a different issue, email. But clearing out the MMe preferences may do it for you:

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme."

  • No network connection or mobile data connection

So I just bought mine, at first I thought its not a problem, it just take times to get a network line.
But seriously, the phone rarely got network connection and mobile data, if its got it the mobile data connection is only Edge.
I thought it was the sim problem.
There are no problem with the old one as I can still use it on other phone and it gets 3g mobile data connection.
But still I go and get a new nano sim card just to be sure.
Is there anything else I need to do or check before I go to the Sony Centre?

I repaired my device last night using PC Companion.
Today, when I left the house for work I had a 3G signal and mobile data was working. I drove 20 miles to work, which goes through areas where there is no signal, and when I get to the office I have no mobile data. I reboot and voila, 3G is back.
This is not acceptable. And as I have had the device more than 14 days, the retailer will not refund me.
So I am stuck with a £350 phone that doesn't work properly and no-one has any idea how to fix it.

  • New black hub

Been having trouble with disconnections on my Netgear router.  Sky are sending me new black hub but I am apprehensive about this after reading on the forum the trouble users are having and there is a lot of bad publicity about this hub.  Is anyone actually happy with the new hub?  I don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire!

Personally, I never had any trouble with mine, but the majority of my kit at home uses a wired connection.
Wireless was just phones/tablets and the odd laptop, just basic browsing, which was fine.
However, it didn't cope well with high speed streaming (which my son frequently complained about once he discovered the joys of Minecraft videos on YouTube!).
My solution was to use a second, higher spec, router and disable the Sky Hub WiFi altogether.
Ultimately, only you can say whether or not it meets your needs.

  • Problems connecting Wii via wi-fi to Home Hub 5

Sorry if this has been posted before.  New Home Hub 5 - but my Wii will not connect to the internet  - although it clearly can see the hub.  Nintendo book suggests using a static IP address or checking for MAC filtering - how DO i get into hub manager???

    Use this link
    http://bthomehub.home/
It could also be that the Wii has a problem with the dual frequencies on the Homehub 5.
Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
You'll need to connect your other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use both frequencies.
    See this link
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44798/~/i-have-problems-connecting-5ghz-and-dual-band...
It might be that your Wii can not use the security that the homehub uses. You may have to change the WPA/WPA2 security to WEP on the 2.4Ghz frequency.
See link how to do that.
