Connecting my N85 to WLAN

Hello All!!
Now i know that there are some posts already about this but none help so far.
I have a Nokia N85 and i am with Vodafone. I want to make the home WLAN main priority when web browsing or checking my gmail.
This is the issue i have, i have a secured WLAN network and have added my phone to it. I have entered this info of my WLan into the phone but when i want to connect to gmail, an error appears... Invalid Packet Data
What is the step by step procedure in connecting my N85 to the WLan?

I have exactly same problem... All smartphones has no problem connecting to enterprise Wi-Fi except my C7.
Our settings are WPA, EAP-TTTL, PAP. I have entered password & username. But cannot connect due to "Invalid Server name"
I don't know where to enter "server name" for this configuration on mobile devise.
If you have a solution please keep me posted...
I thought I'm alone with my problem as Nokia support center could not solve it.....

I got a N85 and I'm trying to connect to the wlan network at home with my PC throe the phone,
I downloaded the latest OVI pc suite and the latest update to my phone, I'v been searching the forums for solution without success.
Basicly what happening is the OVI program got the option to connect to the net when the phone is connected with usb, BUT it connects strait to my network provider's internet therefore i have to pay despite my N85 is allrerady connected to my home Wlan.
I spent good couple of hours trying to figure out how to do and I couldnt there are some settings in the phone that i dont understand I find this very frustrating, I can browse the net in the phone but cant have it as a wlan modem....
any chance someone can help
Altho I wouldn't be surprised if there was no such option......

Hi, I don't really understand your problem, however if you don't want your phone to connect to the internet via your sevice provider, don't use the connect to internet option on Ovi suite. This is a function you can use if away from home without internet connection, where you can use your phones modem to browse the web on your laptop. If you are at home, and have wlan connect either phone or computer to that, you cannot and do not need to connect to wlan via your phone, to browse on your computer.
If you do want to connect computer to web via phone you can use usb or bluetooth or as mentioned turn your phone into a wifi hotspot using jokiuspot, but this will incur data charges if you don't have adata plan.

Nokia N9 can not connect with 802.1x WLAN security

Hi,
Can anybody please help me how to connect with 802.1x WLAN security network. All of other symbian devices N8, E7 can connect with it. I have the N9 latest phone from Nokia and it dont even support 802.1x in WLAN security options. I have searched through a lot of forums and this topic isn't even anywhere. Please help

1st of all 802.1X is not even listed in Security method for of WLAN settings in Nokia N9 PR1.1. However same is listed in Symbian^3 for Nokia N8 and E7. 2ndly same settings works on N8 and E7 but not on N9. N9 showing me "something's wrong with network connection". In the syslog, i am getting these error msges.

Camera connect kit disturbs/cuts wlan connection when plugged in... why?

My camera connect kit disturbs/cuts wlan connection when plugged in to my iPad 2 ... why? It is impossible to keep wlan-connection while using the camera connect kit... does anybody have similar experiences?

... It was not really the cam connection kit... It was infact the radio dongle plugged in to the connection kit what created problems... The signal of the dongle was disturbing the WLAN antenna of the iPad... I was looking for a possibility to have a external soundbox connected without cable and for listening to live streamed news... Now, I need the cable for connecting the dongle with distance to the iPad... Not really a satisfying solution... Nö way arround, I guess?!?

Cannot connect to wireless network - Wlan is sometimes not available

The usual problem I have is that I can see the wireless adaptor but when I go to connect it informs me that the adaptor is not available and to refresh the list.
I also - when I can get connected - loose the connection after a period of time.

As far as I know ConfigFree has no any influence on WLAN functionality because this utility is created for monitoring and not for configuring. When you want to use WLAN connection be sure that WLAN card is properly enabled. If the connection is loosed from time to time try to update WLAN driver.

It needs the user password for the wireless router, that would have been set by whomever installed the router, if that was you then try to find the password. If you can not find the password reset the router to factory default and set it up again.

Sometimes, when my MacBook is up before my WLAN becomes active, AirPort connects to one of my neighbours' WLAN.
Is there any way to mark that SSID or ethernet address as undesired so that AirPort won't connect to it automatically anymore?

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Open System Preferences (or whatever it's called on the German version). Select the Network panel. Select your AirPort connection item. Uncheck "As to join new networks". Click the "Advanced" button. Select the "AirPort" tab if it's not already selected. In the "Preferred Networks" list select each of those "foreign" networks and click the "-" sign to delete then. Finally, click the "OK" button.

Cannot connect Satellite A30 to WLan

I have bought second hand Satellite A30 for young daughter - cannot get wireless hub connection.
Can anyone help please with requirements/upgrades necessary for this?

As Jeffrey said, check if wireless lan device is listed in device manager.
But as far as I know the A30 was not equipped with such a module nor bluetooth.
This leads me to the conclusion that your notebook doesn't have a built in wlan module but you could buy some external devices like usb sticks.

3502 access point will not connect to 4400 Series WLAN controller

I recently upgraded our controllers to the latest version 7 software, as I read this was one of the requirements to get them to connect. But I am not having any luck getting into a controller. Normally I plug them in to the network, they pop into the controller listed as something like AP5057.a844.xxxx and then I can finish configuring them, but a static IP on them, etc...
This is the first of this model AP I have tried to deploy, so I am wondering what is different with these. or what I might be missing in the default config in the WLAN controllers.
Niether of which are set to "Master" either.

The 3500 as you mention are supported on code 7.0
To get the access point to join the WLC we have different options.
If the access points will be on the same subnet as the WLC then you just need to get the APs to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server and once they have an IP address they will join the WLC because they are on the same subnet as the WLC.
If the access points are on a different subnet then the WLC you will need to have a DHCP server configured to give the unit an IP address and use option 43 or DNS so that the APs can send the join request to the correct WLC on a different subnet.
Or if not configure the AP via the console port with the static IP address and WLC IP address.
Also make sure that you have the correct country code enable on the WLC, and that the APs you purchased are the ones to work in this country, because if not the AP will not join the WLC.

AirPort Express doesn't connect to router via WLAN anymore

A few days ago I've bought an *AirPort Express (802.11n)*
When I wanted to test it for the first time, I set it up to *connect to an Existing Wireless Network* and it worked, I could for example stream music from iTunes or print something.
The main reason I bought the APExpress was to extend the range of my wireless signal area, and since my router's got WDS ability I set the *AirPort as a part of the WDS Network* and logically I connected it via Ethernet to the router, and again everything worked.
Now my problem is:
yesterday I wanted to use the APExpress to stream some music to the kitchen,
so I chose the profile in which it was set to connect to an Existing Wireless Network, like I already described above.
But now it doesn't work; the APExpress doesn't connect to the router via WLAN, though there's the green light which's supposed to mean that everything's fine but it doesn't show up in the AirPort Setup Assistant.
As soon as I connect it via Ethernet to router it shows up and you can start streaming music or whatever, but without Ethernet it doesn't connect to the router anymore.
And that's weird, cause for the first time I used the device it worked, but now it doesn't!
Now I would be very thankful if somebody could help me to solve this problem.

I've tried a bunch of 10.1.10.x's and none of them seem to work. The computer that does work has gotten the IP automatically, though.
I've been doing some reading, and it seems as though OS X self-assigns a 169.254.x.x IP address whenever it tries to get an IP from DHCP and fails. Aside from turning off both the router and the modem for about 15 minutes, is there any other way to make the router give me an IP address? And why does one of the computers work? Do you think that if we tried to renew the DHCP lease on that computer, it wouldn't be able to get one?
I'm not sure what the router is set to give out. How would I check that?

Connection error n85

Hello, I have a problem with a Nokia N85. Sometimes I try to make a call I see: Connection Error, and if you call that number go again. I just happen 4-5 times a day and is annoying. The network is set to GSM. I did factory reset and hard reset but nothing. And another thing: about once a twice a day to receive voicemail messages as well as I would have called someone and had no signal ... If you can help me somehow ...? I apologize for emphasis, I am from Romania. Thanks

sure, I live in one of the largest three cities in romania and the cover is always at maximum. About 4-5 times a day when I make a call, but stop trying to sound the call, write: Connection error and if you make the call again form number and then runs.
receive messages from voice mail less frequently than errors. about one message a day ... Suppose coverage falls but those errors give me headaches ...

Laptop connection using existing e90 WLAN connecti...

Hey, maybe anybody can help. I'm in a hotel right now and my laptop does not provide WLAN. I'm able to setup a connection with my e90 and it works well in the internet. I installed a bluetooth connection to the laptop. What do I need to do to use the WLAN connection of the e90 via bluetooth with the laptop? I tried it with PCSUITE but it always try to start a dial up connection via GPRS.

Try if setting it to factory will bring it back to the state where it could connect & surf the net after reconfiguring again your access point.
