Connecting my nano to female ipod plug in a land rover

Hi dears ,
I just got a nano but do not succeed in connecting it  to the ipod  female plug of my landrover discovery 4 : look like i should get a plug with two male ends ; i am just an old  pc user discovering the Apple world ......

Thank you for your reply, Colin. I did try resetting but no luck. I just read another thread where it said it may help to use the "iPod updater". I believe it is up to date, but I will give it a try anyway.
I suppose I could wait for the adapter from Bose, but seeing as it is not an electronic piece I can't see how it would make any difference...

    Hey saintbless,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,

  • When I connected the earpods  to my ipod nano, I can't hear  nothing

When I connected the earpods  to my ipod nano, I can't hear  nothing....

The jack is very tight when it is new, press the headset connector all the way in, there should be no space between the plastic on the headset jack and the body of the Nano.

  • I lose wireless connectivity when I connect the nano to my PC

I have a DSL modem connected by ethernet cable to a Linksys wireless router. My PC has USB linksys antenna. The wireless connection works fine except when I plug in the Nano, it takes about two seconds and I lose the connection to the router. If we are in itunes downloading it is suspended. If we are on the internet the next click and the Microsoft "you are not connected to the internet" page comes up. To reestablish the internet connection I have to remove the nano and reboot the PC. Needless to say this is very frustrating.
If I reboot with the cable attached I get an error unable to run an ____.exe that I believe is the antenna setup because the linksys monitor stays gray in the startup box.
I have tried to move the antenna to a different USB port on the PC with no luck. Everything else runs fine.
Does anyone out there have any ideas/fixes? - Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

    thanks deggie for your answer.
I had my ipod with autosync off ... I set it "manage like disk" .
I try to recover the music with 2 programs: "ephod" and "copy trans" ..
I can see all the songs listed, but can´t backup to disk or recover them......
I see than my ipod hasn´t the folder  "ipod_control" , which appears before I had this problem....
    Any idea ??? Thanks again.

  • HELP!! Please - Connecting a nano to an old PC

My parents have bought my little sister an iPod nano for Christmas. However their computer runs Windows Millenium Edition and when I tried to download and install iTunes for her to put music on her iPod I got an error message saying that iTunes only works on Windows 2000 or XP.
I use a Mac and could put some songs on her iPod from my iTunes library for the time being but I will be leaving after Christmas so she won't have any way to store or update the music.
Does anyone know a way round this? Is there an old version of iTunes that I can install on a Millenium edition computer. My sister is devastated and my parents are furious that no-one suggested to them that the nano might not just plug and play with their computer.
    Help!! Please!
    iPod Nano   Windows ME

Thanks, it looks like some of the other software might do the job. I'll download the free trials and see if I can get one of them working. If it does then I'll have to buy the software for her. I wasn't aware that iPods worked with anything other than iTunes.
My parents are not particularly technically aware - they have a computer with a broadband connection which as far as they were concerned, was all that was needed to use an iPod and download songs. At no point did any saleperson ask them anything about operating systems. They didn't even ask if they had an internet connection to download iTunes. However, this is more of an issue with the customer service of the shop that sold it to them, rather than Apple.
So, thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.

  • Connecting 3g nano from pc to new mini mac

hi i would like to connect my nano to my new mini mac
the nano has been snyced with a pc
so when i connect it to the mac will i lose all the songs on it?
    please help
new to macs so be kind
    thanks
    malcolm

If you plug in an iPod that auto syncs to another library, you will get a pop up telling you it is synced to another library and do you want to instead sync it to this library. "Yes" *WILL ERASE* everything on the iPod. "NO" will leave everything on the iPod alone but you won't be able to do anything with the iPod on that library.
If you instead, change your iPod from Automatic update to Manual updating, then you can plug it into either computer and add stuff from either library to the iPod. Downside is that you have to do everything manually (adding to or removing from the iPod) and you won't get information transferred from the iPod back into the libraries like play count, ratings, etc.

  • Connection of Nano to both PC and Mac ?

Hello there! I was wondering if now that the NANO is flash based rather than hard drive based, whether this means that the device can be connected to both PC and MAC platforms simultaneously since there might not be formatting issues (like fat32 vs. whatever file system MAC uses)
Anyone knows if this is possible? Has it been tested/done with shuffle?

    Hi,
I imagine it's a bit of a pain, but it sounds like there is a conflict somewhere. The only other thing could be settings under the power options to stop hard drives or display after certain amount of time. Then there's always te happy thought of a virus, but hopefully not.
First double check power options (I know it's annoying) by right clicking on the screen going to the screen saver page and selecting the power management options, look to ensure that on both battery and plug, had disk and video are set to "Never". Additionally, ensure that power management isn't being handled by the Sony Vaio software.
Next, with the iPod plugged in, go to hardware manager and delete at least the iPod from where it appears. Ideally delete everything relating to USB, including the controller and then reboot with nothing else attached. Ensure that windows adds back each USB item one at a time. This will eliminate the chance of corruption (hopefully).
    Two other things to try.
1.) remove allother USB devices, even printer, and just have the iPod connected. If there is a conflict with another device this will help determine that.
2.) make sure that the iPod is connected directly to a SUB port on the PC and not connected through a USB hub. In the past, USB hubs have caused many sleepless nights for iPod users.
Let me know how all of this goes.

  • 7th gen Nano only works when plugged in, turns off when  unplugged... battery is fully charged.

7th gen Nano only works when plugged into computer, as soon as I unplug it shuts off (it was ejected from iTunes). Battery is fully charged.  Have already done a restore in iTunes and checked for updated software.

    Hello there, DizDude.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some good recommendations for troubleshooting battery issues with the 7th generation iPod Nano:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4433
    Particularly this section:
    Battery life appears short
Learn how to conserve battery life.
Ensure that the latest software is installed on the iPod.
When charging, use the cable that came with iPod nano (7th generation) and leave the device connected until it is fully charged.
Note: If you are charging using your computer, don't connect iPod nano (7th generation) to your keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPod nano (7th generation) is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPod nano (7th generation) battery may drain.
When you are done using the iPod nano, verify that:
The Radio application is off (tap the button)
Music is paused (tap the button in the iPod application or disconnect the earphones)
There is no active Pedometer session (tap the Stop button in the Fitness application)
Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life on iPod nano. Go to Settings > General > Brightness and restore the brightness to the default, or drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness.
Playing tracks with EQ requires your iPod processor to consume more energy than playing tracks without EQ, because the EQ information is not encoded in the song. To prolong battery life, turn EQ off if you don't use it. Go to Settings > Music > EQ and select Off from the list. Note, however, that if you've added EQ to tracks in iTunes, you'll need to set EQ to Flat to have the effect of Off, because iPod keeps your iTunes settings intact.
Try restoring iPod nano (7th generation) by connecting it to iTunes and clicking Restore.
    Test the battery life.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Entire Computer Freezes When iPod plugged in..

    Hey Guys
When my fiance plugs her ipod into her USB port, it works fine for a few moments. Then the computer decides the slow down to the point it freezes. This does not happen with on either of my computers so I know its hers. I reinstalled itunes, did ipod update, got rid of any spyware or viruses, changed the USB port it was using and still no success! Restore is the only thing left but I don't think that will do much.
    Anyone else have any suggestions????

    Hmm..
Make sure no other programs are open while iTunes is, sometimes having too many open programs slows a computer down.
Nothing else should be connected to the computer when her iPod is.
Have you tried a diferent USB port?
If you have a firewire cable, have you tried that?
Does the computer freeze until you decide to shut it down or it freezes for a couple of minutes? The reason I ask is because when I connect my Nano to my computer, it freezes for about 5 mins searching for my Nano and then it shows in the iTunes' "Source" list.

  • I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!

I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!

What happens when the iPod is plugged in?  anything?  any errors?
Why is 50GB of music gone?  All music should exist on the computer.  Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.
