Connecting my zen touch to speak

Hi everyone. I'm new here and to mp3 players as well. I was wondering if it is ok to connect my Zen Touch to speakers which run on external power instead of batteries. I tried looking at the FAQ for the Touch but did'nt find an answer so I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks.

Yep, it's absolutely OK. I connect all my MP3 players to a large home cinema setup as well as some good quality "computer speakers" and a car stereo

If you have RCA inputs on your stereo, just buy a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable and connect it that way. If not, buy an FM transmitter, connect it to the headphone jack on your Zen Touch, set it to a channel and then tune into that channel on the stereo's radio.
Hope that hel

You can buy it at any RadioShack (in America) and in Canada I would assume FutureShop would have it as well as any local electronics store.

The link in my message leads to a great little program that lets you use the Micro with iTunes on a Mac. You can also use XNJB... so the Micro does work with Mac, it is just better optimized for the PC platform.

• Easy solution for connecting Zen Touch to P

Hi,
I'm a Mac user, when I want to connect my Zen Touch to any Mac I used "xnjb" a small freeware (.7Mb) that I could run directly from my USB key; It work great, install nothing on the computer and could upload or download any kind of files between the zen and the computer.
I try to find a similar solution for PC without success, I even try to install "JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE" on a computer friend; this not the ideal solution because it install something on his computer and even with that installation the window explorer see a USB device but can't read it.
Is some one have a solution similar to what I used on Mac?
Cheers,
Luc

Hi Mosey,
I don't want the new firmware because my Zen touch work good with the old one and the Mac software for the Zen are not supporting the new firmware yet,
Do you have a solution working with the old firmware, even if it's a third party one.
Cheers,

• PB to connect zen [TOUCH] to my PC please, HE

When i connect my zen touch to my pc i juste heard 3times the sound that windows makes when he detects an usb peripheric, but, my zen touch just doesn't appears in media source or nomad explorer...

• Connecting Zen Touch to stereo/amplif

I was wondewring is there any connection that could connect the Zen Touch with a stereo? on the back of the stereo there is a left and right socket for "Video/MD" . any ideas what type of connectino is needed.

If you have a Digital Recei'ver, try using Monster cable for MP3 player. You can get this cable at any sears electronic store or any online retailer. Now, if you have a regular receiver, any cable will work. Plug the cable to you player and the other into CD Input of your receiver and BINGO.. I preferred using Monster cable because the sounds are well balance and crisp. Have fun listening to your MP3 Player..

This means the player hasn't been detected. Have a look in Device Manager to see if it's listed without error, and with a driver version (which should equal those that have been loaded).
Yes, but as I said in my original post, the computer is seeing it with
no problems. It's the Creative software that's not recognizing it.

• Compatability with PCMCIA USB 2 & Zen Touch

Hi,
My laptop only has USB . built in so I have recently purchased a PCMCIA USB 2 card. It appears that the card is functioning correctly and there are no problems when used with my digital camera, printer or mouse. However, when I connect the Zen Touch it starts working initially...the player says that it's docked and it seems to communicate with the computer (bringing files up in MediaSource etc...) but as soon as I try to transfer files to or from the devide the computer crashes. Firstly MediaSource stops responding, then Windows entirely freezes meaning I have to hold the power down button to reset the machine.
Please, please, please can someone help me with this problem...it's driving me insane!!
Thanks, Tom.

I know it works properly on USB but I dont own a desktop PC to try try it on there. There was a suggestion that it may be that there is not enough power getting to the Zen from the USB socket but the software with the USB card shows the power levels and it is being supplied plenty of power.
I am becoming more curious about what is going on here becasue now I am unable to transfer music through the USB sockets on the laptop. MediaSource start to transfer then brings up and error saying that some other application is using the Zen or something along those lines.
Anyhow, I am now stuck because I dont have any other way of transferring music to or from the player.

• ZEN touch won´t run under vista, also problem with firmware upda

i tried to connect my zen touch 20gb with my vista ultimate pc but it didnt work so i tried it by setting up a virtual machine (with xp on it running) and it recoknized it. then i tried to update the firmware and now i ended up with version 0.0. and can't put on another one....could someone explain to me how i can update the firmware (on xp or vista, nevermind) so i can use it again ?
tia,
chris?

I set up a fmware workstation virtual machine running winXP, after doing so it suddenly recognized the player also under vista (after selfinstall under the virtual xp-station!!!) , it was available as a virtual dri've and as a zen touch. i tried to update the firmware then under the xp sys but it had winMediaplayer on it which didn?t work with the zen touch as far as i know.On the VIsta machine? i tried to updade(get it to run) for hours, then tried to do everything new and started to remove every software and folders with creative parts in it, tried again etc but it wouldn?t work. the zen gave me a) the screen "syncroising" (for ever) or b)format, update firmware etc as options which didn?t work
?under _which_ system do i have to install _which_ firmware, software and what can the media player cause on problems please ?
i?m a music-junkie and i really NEEEEEEEEEED this machine !!!
thx in advance *bow*

• Getting my Zen Touch to be detected by my

I just upgraded to Service Pack 2 on this PC after installing the newest drivers for the Zen Touch, but now, when I connect ym Zen Touch to my computer it is detected (A "Found New Hardware" dialog appears) however I can't get my PC to actually install the drivers and detect the MP3 player.
I have already tried installing and unistalling the drivers but to no avail. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Version 2..0 is the MTP firmware. Gi've this a shot. One of our posters, DM, did some good work in modifying / creating this utility to correct the majority of the issues Windows XP can have with it's MTP drivers.

• Zen Touch with no Firmw

Ok my computer crashed everytime I connected my Zen Touch. It had worked great before for many years. but ok. I decided it probably was the Firmware so I restarted my MP3-player in recovery mode and deleted the firmware. guess what? I couldn't reinstall any firmware since my comp doesn't recognize my player
I use all of the newest applications and drivers on my comp.
/edit forgot some info about my computer
it's a Dell Dimension 8400 with Windows XP ProfessionalMessage Edited by karlozkiller on 0-0-2006 0:33 PM

To get the player detected now you need to go into rescue mode (which it sounds like it's doing anyway), choose reload OS/firmware to erase the firmware and prepare the player (the firmware is already erased anyway). Then you need to run the firmware update from the PC.
This is dependent on the player having been detected properly by the PC though, so you need to check in Device Manager when you connect it to see if it's listed there without error and with a driver version.

• Zen touch, crashing with Windows XP professional, not working with Windows media pla

i will start with an apology if someone has posted this up before i have just had a quick look and could not see any think about this.
if i turn my computer on with out running any other programs and connect the zen touch the computer automatically turn on the zen touch media player program. this work's fine as long as no other programs are running.
i have tried to work the zen touch with Windows media player but this dose not work and the computer crashes every time.
i have window xp professional and have all up dates from Windows. my computer is very new and has more then enough memory and ram.
please can you help. i am not to happy with the zen touch computer program and would like to know how to fix this problem.
thank you for your help
Rob the monkey

I wonder if there are problems here associated with the use of the zen touch on SP2 machines. Interestingly I cannot transfer music from my PC to my Zen 20gb on a SP2 machine but I can do so on my sisters machine which has got SP. Obviously having the lastest firmware is a good idea though but I believe there are issues associated with SP2 and as you say you have all the latest updates to windows perhaps the problem lies there. Sorry if this doesn't help you at all

Could anybody help me? I've hotplug and udev. My user is added to tty group.

I regret, but this is not the case. Still the same problem.
