I want to upgrade my 2007 Mac desktop to 10.5 Leopard. I am currently running on 10.4.11. Is it still possible to update this computer?

    Yes. Try Amazon.
Before you do upgrade to Snow Leopard, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Technical Specifications
Make sure the disc you tried using doesn't have any fingerprints or smudges on it. The optical drive can't read the disk otherwise.
If your Mac won't read the disc, might be a good idea to rule out any problems with the startup disk BEFORE trying to upgrade the system.

  • ITunes makes metal clicks noises

Sometimes my iTunes makes metal clicks noises when playing music and sometimes it does not. It seems related to an OS update issue. I use the USB audio Editor UA1D interface to listen my music so the bug may only occurs using USB audio. It is really tiny noises but if I pay attention they are hard to miss. Any one as experienced this problem?
I have a Mac mini but I experienced the problem on my iBook too so it does not seem related to the hardware.

Heey, I think I've solved it! It's that damned QuickTime 7. check out this link.

  • DVD will not play and states "supported disk not available" and makes a weird noise and then ejects the dvd

My MacbookPro is only 5 months old and in really good condition. The only problem I am encountering is that when I insert any type of dvd disc, it starts to make this weird grinding noise that goes eeee-eeee, and then does that a couple of times and then the disc ejects on its own. When i try to play it with idvd, it does the same noise thing and then iDvd state "supported disk not available". The dvd does not even read on the computer.

If only five months old it is still under warranty. Take it back.

  • When I connect my Ipad2, ITunes make an error and close

When I connect my Ipad2, Itunes is making an error, that only since I update the new version from Itunes
    Could you help me?

    Hi MarcelitaL,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with syncing your iPod mini:
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
If you see your iPod in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8) but not in iTunes under Devices, try these steps. Start at the top and work your way through the steps until iTunes recognizes your iPod.
If you don't see your iPod in My Computer, follow these steps.
This document is for Windows users and most older iPod models. See the following articles if you have this issue on:
    A Mac
An iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch)
An iPod nano (5th or 6th generation) (and you see an alert message in iTunes when you connect the device)
    Cheers,

  • When try to view a movie with a external reader it makes a weird noise at time and other times works fine I think I read somewhere theat you can only use thereader that came with your computer

When I put a movie DVD in my external reader it makes a strange noise and at times it gets hung up I have to force quit it and then I can eject the dvd
I believe I read some wherre that you can only use the reader that came with my computer

That sounds like the drive is faulty. CD and DVD will have seperate heads, and burn and read will be different lasers in each. If it's still in warranty I'd exchange it.

  • Macbook Pro is slow/laggy and makes a weird noise

    Hello members,
I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion with all the latest updates. Everything was fine until 3 days back, when it started acting up. Moving the cursor was extremely laggy, and starting up any application takes forever. I also noticed a weird noise, more like a phone pulse dial, coming from the front. It repeats itself every 3 seconds, so I first thought it must be the HDD failing. But I have run all sorts of hardware tests but every test seems to infer that the HDD is working fine. Is it possible that the HDD is failing even though it doesn't show up on any test? The Apple store nearest to me is more than a 3 hour drive away, so it's almost impossible to go there in person. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance.

  • My Mac book pro freezes up and makes a weird noise.

Last night I was attempting to se my MacBook Pro and I turned it on. It allowed me to go through the normal functions to start up, log in and password as I have it locked from start up, however right after that, it froze up and made the oddest error style beep.  Sounded like an emergency broadcast beep that you hear on tv. Anyway, I powered down to cold boot and once it booted up again, it did the same thing.  No error message was given just freezing up and the weird noise.  I decided to power dwindling again and plug it in to a power source and it worked fine.  When I unplugged it again, of course it froze up and made that beeping noise.  I thinking it's the battery but I'd like some input before driving to the apple store to buy a new battery and it still won't fix the problem.

At a REAL Apple store they will look at it, run some diagnostics and give you an opinion of what might be causing the freezing when on battery power. Also they will give you an estimate on fixing the problems they find.
If you take it to an Authorized Apple Repair center then they might charge you to run the diagnostics.

  • Connecting nano to itunes

I dont want to store all my MUSIC in Itunes because I have other memo files. How do I set the settings on the nano so that when I connect to the computor it doesn't erase all music previously put on on the nano? Thank-you PC
      Mac OS X (10.4.5)

PC. - as you were told, changing to manual management will let you delete music from your computer and keep it on the iPod. However I want to caution you about this practice. iPods are fragile. They are easy to lose. They get put in the washer (and don't like it). I know way too many people who have chosen to do what you are thinking of doing who lost their music when something happened to their iPod. Before deleting your music from the computer BACK IT UP!

  • Can't connect nano to itunes

I just bought a nano ipod on ebay, the ipod wasn't used, but it was returned to a store. The problem is, my itunes is not reconizing the device at all. When I connect to my computer nothing happens. Can someone help me get all m songs onto my new ipod? Thanks.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

  • Itunes makes a funny noise

Hi - I have a new Sony Vaio Laptop that I recently downloaded the most recent version onto. I works fine except for an iritating noise...like a bunch of skips in the music in quick sucession when I 1) Close out of Microsoft I.Explorer (not when I start it up) or when I 2) turn on or off the visualizations when playing music. Not sure if this is an Itunes problem or if it's related to setting on my laptop. I know I have used Itunes for years on my Dell desktop and have never had this problem. Anyone have any ideas...would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

That may be your problem - perhaps the files are 'gapped' via iTunes in such a way that your older app. is not making complete sense of it.

  • Ipod makes a weird noise and stops working

I have a 30 bg video ipod that I got this past christmas, and lately when I'm listening to it all of a sudden I will hear a screaching noise and then I wont hear anything. The ipod shows the song is playing but I cant hear it. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what I can do?
    Thanks for the help

I hate to make the following suggestions (please choose one) but I afraid you have no other choice, as the main problem is your iPod cant manage to be recognized by a computer ,neither a Mac nor a PC for you do the Restore to fix up the hard disk problem. Your iPod is either having a HD failure or its needle hand get stuck at a certain point
    1. Send it for repairing
    2. If you do not want pay to the expensive service cost then Buy a new one
    3. Open the iPod and unplug and plug the battery
    4. Hold the iPod with your left palm and hit the sides and back (gentle please) of your iPod for few attempts until you see the iPod showing the Language Menu
Please note if you try to do 3 or 4, your iPod will loss the warranty so only do it at last resort and at your own risk
Please read the following before you do anything

  • On start up disk slot makes weird noise

this isn't my question but its my friends mac makes this weird noise like dvvv divvv when on start up coming from disk slot

It is normal to make some DVD drive "access" noise at startup. If the drive still works (reads CDs or DVDs), don't worry about it - until it doesn't work anymore!

  • Why does my Mac make weird noises?

It's a late 2011 Macbook Pro, and for some reason, it makes a weird noise.. kind of like beads jiggling inside. It happens when i tilt my MacBook forward, and backwards. It's a brand new one. It's coming from inside.

I have the exact same problem and it's been a week or so. It kind of just makes those weird noises out of nowhere and scares the **** out of me. Did you end up at the Apple Store or were you able to fix it up on your own?
