You may want to check ur settings. when you plug in ur ipod make sure it is highlighted then at the top of the page you will see tabs Summary Music Podcast Info....click on the MUSIC tab...in that box there will be 2 options:
    Sync Music
         Entire Music Library
Selected playlist, artist, albums, and genres

  • Help please, system crash when connecting new iPod

I just got a new iPod Classic 160 GB. I connected it to my computer by the USB, and it said I needed the newest version of iTunes. I downloaded from iTunes the lastest 7.4.3.1 today. I first installed it and tried to use it without success. I then uninstalled all iPod and iTunes programs, updated and ran Spybot, and updated and ran Virusscan. My computer is now totally clean. I then re-installed iTunes, but I am having the same problem. When I plug my iPod into the computer, the screen goes temporarily black, and then I get a blue screen error code Stop: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF787D9B6, 0xF30BC6CC, 0xF30BC3C8).
    Please help...Thanks!

Well, I forgot to de-authorize my machine when I was upgrading to Vista, and remembered only after I was done.
Now I have two computers authorized under my account (although they are the same machine).
Speaking of which, any idea how I ought to de-authorize the non-existant computer?
edit: the parent's not trying to reinstall windows, d'oh! but my question still stands.

  • Problems with connecting my ipod to computer

Please, i need help. I had my ipod and itunes running fine on a windows xp computer service pack 2 and last weekend i got a new computer. However, i simply transferred my old hardrives into the new computer. The only thing that changed was the letter of the drive. Instead of being E: drive it is now an F: drive.
The problem i am having is that i get an error message everytime i connect my ipod to the new computer and load up itunes It says "the software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes..."
So when i try to reinstall itunes i get error 1324 "the path ipod updater 20006-06-28 contains an invalid character."
I've tried downloading itunes from the website and when it tries to install i get "ipodservice.resources is not a valid short file name."
So, i can't uninstall itunes or ipod, i've cleaned up my computer for any remnants of files in the system, and i've checked the registry to make sure no files were still being directed towards the E: drive.
Itunes right now works fine. The only problem is that my ipod doesn't update any music or properly connect with itunes.
I've run out of options and need help. Also, if there is a better forum to post this in please tell me. thanks.

    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Maybe trying reassigning your iPod's drive letter as described in this Apple support document and see if that helps.

  • Connecting new iPod to Windows XP

I just got my iPod nano today. I used to have an iPod mini, so I already have iTunes filled with music. I plugged in the nano and opened iTunes and a box popped up saying I needed to download the latest iTunes, so I did. I restarted my computer, pulled up iTunes again but the same box popped up. I don't know if it's supposed to, but iTunes never looks or seems any different when I update it than it did 3 years ago when I first downloaded it. Maybe there's a step I'm missing? Anyway, if anyone knows how get my iPod to show up on the computer, that would be helpful. Thanks.

Assuming you're using Windows, the current version of iTunes is 7.5.
Click on the "Help" tab, and select "about iTunes". It will tell you which version of iTunes is currently residing on your computer.
If it is not 7.5, then you will need to update your software.
(A thought that may be important. Start iTunes from your "Start" menu rather than the task bar. Sometimes an old icon stays on the task bar, but it doesn't connect to the new version of the program.)
If you're running iTunes 7.5, then shut down your computer, disconnect your iPod, and restart the computer. Once it is started, start iTunes, then connect your iPod once more.
This SHOULD start the process of recognizing your iPod. If not, we'll need to know if Windows recognizes that new hardware has been connected. You may have a bum USB port or other issues.

  • Connecting new iPod Classic, old PB G4 without USB2.0

This may be an old question at this point, but I just recieved a new iPod Classic and wish to connect it to my PB G4 through a connection faster than USB1. What is the most reliable high speed connection available? Powered PCMCIA USB2.0 card? Firewire to USB2.0 converter? Run it off the USB2.0 jack on my FW800 external drive? SOL? USB1 currently works, albeit, as many have noted, at Mac II speeds; old PB still going strong, meets all other needs, so would rather spend the $ on music. Your thoughts?

It should work but it will be slow.
USB 2.0 is 60 times faster than USB 1.1.
    PCMCIA USB2.0 card?
    Should workl okay.
    Firewire to USB2.0 converter?
    No such thing.
Run it off the USB2.0 jack on my FW800 external drive?
No, because it won't convert the FW from the computer to USB out of the drive.

  • Connecting New Ipod Touch to PC

I keep trying to connect my new ipod touch to my PC and it keep getting a dialog box that tells me Apple Ipod on top and then in the box it says Camera Connected. It then gives me an option to launch the program using Microsoft scanner and camera wizard or Microsoft Word. The device is charging but in "My Computer" it is listed under Scanners and Cameras as Apple Ipod #2 with a camera icon. Does anybody know how to resolve this. It is not recognizing the ipod in itunes

  • Be patient if you have lots of files and connecting new iPod

Having iTunes lockup after you connect your new iPod? Do you have lots of audio files (in the thousands)? Well read on if this sounds like you.
Just had to post this as I didn't see anything at all about it and it would have been REALLY helpfull to know before hand. I have about 8000 songs on my computer (all from my CD's or purchased iTunes). Well I finally decided to get me a nice new iPod as it would make life a little better. I got home connected it then my system pretty much locked up, or seemed to. The performance meters went up to 80-90% and computer wouldn't respond. iTunes totally crashed with no display or warning or anything. I went into task manager and killed it. The moment I did that the computer shut down and restarted. When it came up I tried again, but this time when I started iTunes I got "Windows - No disk inserted" faults like crazy.
I eventually just left it and went outside for a break as I am pretty much going to return iPod to store at this point. After about 15 mins I come back to computer and all is ok and now I see the iTunes is transferring files. All without asking me anything, almost sounds like a microsoft trick except this is all apple's doing, that isn't going to make me buy a mac anytime soon if that is the direction they are heading in.
Anyway after my very long winded soap box, the main point is if you plut it in and have lots of songs be very very patient because it will download the songs to your iPod and there is no way to stop it that I saw.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. It is likley that they will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price:
