Connecting new mac mini and a pc to internet
I have ordered a new mac mini and airport express to connect it to my broadband connection. I have a none wireless pc already connected to the DSL. This is a usb connection to the pc.
Can I connect the dsl to the airport express usb port and then connect my pc to the free ethernet port? Will this work and would the Mac then pick up the connected printer?

No, this will not work. To use an AirPort Express (or AirPort Extreme) base station, you will need a DSL modem that has an Ethernet port. The reason is that the USB connection requires a software driver to be installed on your computer. Since it's not possible to install drivers (Mac OS, Windows or otherwise) on the AirPort Express because it's not a computer, you'll need to use the Ethernet port. I would recommend you visit the AirPort Express forum. There are some knowledgeable people there who can help you find a new modem that has Ethernet and get everything configured for you.

What do you mean by "HD to VGA adapter converter"?
Do you mean have an HDMI to VGA adapter connected the the Mini's HDMI port?
Or maybe you plugged n the the included HDMI to DVI adapter and then connected a DVI to DVI adapter?
In either case that will not work since VGA is analog and the Mini's HDMI port is digital only.
You need to purchase a mini displayport to VGA adapter. It plugs into the Mini's Thunderbolt port.

Since the Mac Mini does not come with a Monitor, Keyboard or Mouse those are needed when setting up a Mac Mini. I don't know what brand wireless KB you have or if that even matters.
I have an Apple wireless keyboard (bluetooth), Apple magic trackpad (bluetooth), and Dell DVI monitor. When I initially booted my new Mac Mini, the screen showed it searching for bluetooth devices. It found the keyboard first and then a few seconds later, the mouse. So, I had all devices to finish setup of the Mini. -

Just upgraded to the new mac mini and am having trouble with loading some sites on safari, primarily social networking sites. I just got a new Mac Mini, and now when I try to import photos into Lightroom, iPhoto ties to load them first, then Lightroom can't find the files. Big problem. What to do?
Simple:
File -> Export to get your photos out of the iPhoto Library. In the Export dialogue you can set the kind to Original and you'll get back exactly what you put in.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
Once exported, you can then trash the iPhoto Library - just drag it from the Pictures Folder to the trash and empty it.
After that, if you're entirely neurotic about it, just put the iPhoto app in the trash and empty it.

I am exhausted just getting to the point of being allowed to ask my question. I recently decided to upgrade from an old PowerBook G4 that we have used for years, and am using now. I bought a new Mac Mini and a reconditioned Apple A1267 Monitor that was working beautifully when hooked to a slightly newer PowerBook in the store. Both the Mini and the monitor are plugged in, and attached to each other but I feel light a dolt. I cannot even figure out how to turn them on or even get a power light to come on. Hello bbryson68, I'm sure you've just over-looked it.
The answer is to click on Adjust above the Clip in Viewer, this will bring into view a adjustments bar also above the Clip.
Now you just have to select the speed via the Turtle icon. Once the clip has been speed-up or down, you'll get a Slider
over the clip in question & a Rabbit icon indicating the clip has been speed-up.
If you want to keep audio undistorted check the Preserve Pitch checkbox above the viewer.
The Clip Slider & icon of Rabbit appear in the Clip-Trimer window below the main Clip, also check your Pref's to see if you have
Apply Slow Motion checked? This will slow or speed up all other clips to the first clip. -
I just received my new Mac Mini and want to migrate files from my Time Machine. I assume the old OS is on Time machine and I don't want it to supersede the new Yosemite OS. Do I have to Do anything special?
Using Migrations Assistant will only move the data and other things over, it will not bring over a previous version of the Os since the 2014 model can run anything earlier than Yosemite.
