Connecting new router from Verizon

We just received a new Actiontec router from Verizon. Plugged in power cord and phone line and can not get a connection. What am I doing wrong? On the last router (Westell) we did not have to have an ethernet cable to use the router and I assumed we didn't need to do that with this router either.  Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Are you having a problem with the DSL modem synching up or connectly wirelessly to your computer?

I just ordered new iPhones from Verizon. Can I purchase Apple Care on these since I didn't get them directly from Apple?

Yes. See the information here, particularly the "Important Notes":

Since you haven't yet taken delivery of the iPhones I'm not sure how Apple will handle it.

  • Bought two new phones from Verizon and can't activate either - does sprint or AT&T have better customer service?

HELP!!!  I bought two new phones from Verizon stores for Christmas presents and can't activate either one.  When I try to go on-line I get a message that the activations can't be processed.
When I try to call, I get a message that they have Activation support for today but long hold times (understandable) and the automated system keeps hanging up on me (not understandable).
Any hints on how to talk to someone and get these working today?

massive frustration that the phone process kept hanging up on me.  finally got to chat with a customer service person (not sure how because I could never find a chat option on-line).  Kari was GREAT; stayed with me and fixed what ever needed to be fixed.

  • What's the range of this new router from apple?

what's the range of this new router from apple?

One, it would help to specifiy which specific model/device.
Two, reading the specs page for the device likely would answer the question.
Three, what in the heck does this have to do with iTunes for Windows, the forum to which this silly question was posted?

  • Problem connecting to wifi from Verizon DSL router

I recently had "upgraded" to the newer Verizon Westell router (7500, I think).  Well, I have setup the wireless to be able to connect a smart phone.  Unfortunately, that smart phone is on AT&T (Samsung Infuse 4G).  I was hoping to be cheap and use my DSL from Verizon to connect via wifi.  It worked at first, prior to securing the wifi.  I can connect through the wifi, but I am immediately transferred to a secure Verizon website trying to get me to "activate" my account.  It will not let me go anyway, but to that site.  Am I missing something?  I am locked out of my wifi since I have a competitors cellular account?  Any help would be great.

Simply applying security to your router will not cause the "walled garden" message your getting about activating account. Has your Verizon account ever been suspended before? If so, you will need to clear temp browsing data on your phone. Also make sure you are connecting to your network and that it didn't hop on a neighbbors unlocked network. Phones can be configured to automatically connect to an unsecured network and that customers service might be suspended. If you run into further problems please send a private message.

  • Connecting new Router into Network

I have an older Wireless router that we've been using for 5+ years. I now own a PS3 and a Wii and am trying to setup a new router in my personal room for the game systems as well as my laptop. So far I have used a cross-over/roll-over cable to connect to new router to my older one and I have also signed into the new router and changed it's IP to a new one differing from my original. What more do I have to do to enable the second router? I have also read that disabling the DCHP client list allows the router to act as a switch.. but from my understanding that means that only one of the components would be allowed an internet connection at a time. This won't do as my hope is to run my laptop and one of the 2 systems from this router and be able to connect on both at the same time. Please help! Thanks

Router2 is connected via its WAN to the second port on Router1.
So if I disable the DHCP on router2 will any components plugged into it ping to router1 for their IPs and then I'll be able to run several internet connections out of router2?
Or does enabling router2 as a switch only allow one of its components to have internet connection at a time?

  • Imac G5/Intel, OS 10.6., system does not start up after connecting new router

After connecting the imac to a new router the system hung completely up. After each input, e.g. opening preview or a browser, the coloured turning disc appeared and nothing happened anymore. Several restarts, also in safe mode,  were unsuccessful. I could not switch to another user.  Restart is only possible at all from installation disc but thereafter problem remains the same.
    What can I do?

And, what happens if you disconnect the computer from the new router? Are you able to do this, and what happens when you try it?
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • I installed a new router from my ISP provider and now I can't find my Time Capsule or "Guest" network.  What do I need to do to correct this problem?

I installed a new (and supposedly better & stronger) router from my ISP provider (Verizon) and now I can't find my Time Capsule or "Guest" network.
My Mac is not backing up because it can't find my Time Capsule network & my "Guest" network has also disappeared.
What do I need to do to correct this problem?

You must reset the TC to factory and start over. The TC simply remembers too much from the previous setup to work in the new one.
If your new router is going to take the router role, then the TC will have to be bridged and you will lose your Guest wireless.. the way around this is to use the Verizon router as your guest wireless and the TC as your main wireless.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    Factory reset Gen 5
Hold in reset for about 5sec until the status light flashes quickly.
If your AirPort Time Capsule still doesn’t respond, do a similar reset to the Gen1-4.
Unplug your AirPort Time Capsule .. hold in reset and power the TC back on.. without releasing the reset.. wait until status led flashes rapidly.

  • How do I switch between number and alphabet on printer keypad when trying to connect new router.

    HP wireless printer 6500 e709n
Have a new router.  Using the printer tools, and network setup, printer can find router but when I input the password using the keypad, alpha characters appears and therefore rejected.   Password is numeric.  The password cannot be changed because it is provided by ISP and is unchangeable, as far as I know.
I've checked the user manual and there is no mention of how to change between using the 6500 e709n keypad in alpha and numeric mode.

    Hi hessvette,
When the keyboard appears on the printer display, there should be a ARROW pointing up or a TRIANGLE. Press that, and the entire keyboard changes into CAPS. To enter lower case you need to tap the appropriate letter key twice quickly. The first tap should show a capital and the second should show a lower case letter.
If it is an older type printer with a keypad then you would have to cycle through the letters and numbers. Lets say you want to enter the number '2'. Keep pressing the number 2 button. It will cycle through all the options for that button, ie A,B,C,a,b,c and the 2. You do the same for the other buttons.
I am sending a link for Installing the Printer on a Wireless Network.
Let me know if this helped.
    Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Do I need to return the old router from Verizon after I transferred to a new address?

    Hello,
I was trying to return the old router that I had from my previous address. (They gave me a new one when I moved to the new house)
But I didn't receive the return label. Where can I obtain it, and what address do I need to send it to?
I tried calling the return department but I was on hold forever.
I googled and see some people said that they won't want it back, but some people said they do.
    Please help..
    Thanks,
    Sylvia

As already said it depends on the model that you have. If you have an Actiontec they will proabably want it back, but if its an old Westell they won't.

  • I just got a new router from ATT and I cannot get my pinter to connect it fails at no filtering

I have a Envy 100 e-all-in-one D410a printer.  Every time I try to connect, it finds the wireless SSid name, then I enter the WPA password, it tries but then fails.  It fails on the no filtering.  The router is an ATT Westell.

AT&T (as well as most ISP-issued routers) are non-standard.  If you want to avoid headaches in the future, go buy your own Netgear or Linksys!
On the router did you change the channel to 11 or 1?  Did you change from WEP to WPA encryption?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Access machines connected to router from machine connected to hub

I have a DSL modem connected to a Linux firewall.
The Linux firewall and numerous other machines are connected to a 100MB hub.
This configuration has worked fine for many years.
I purchased a Linksys WRT54GS for the wireless & 10/100 switch capabilities.  I have the Linksys connected to the hub via the hub's uplink port.  I have one wired and one wireless machine (both Windows) accessing the Internet just fine via the Linksys.  I can ping a Linux development machine connected to the hub from one of the Windows machines connected to the Linksys.  However, I cannot ping the wired Windows machine (has static IP address) nor the Linksys itself.  I am unsure if the Linksys is not responding to pings & not allowing them to go through to the connected machine, or, if I need to modify my firewall/gateway somehow.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
    Thank you kindly!

Thanks for the reply!   I am just now getting back to this as it dropped in priority for a while.  My development box(es) on the hub is in the range of 192.168.3.x and the DHCP server on the Linksys WRT54GS dole out 192.168.4.x.  I am thinking I need a route configured either on the Linksys or my Linux gateway - does this make sense?
    Thank you!

  • Is It possible connect two router**from console port to console port

    Hi,
I need this for doing reverse telnet.
    Thanks very much

    No
you can connect router 1's aux port to router 2's console port.
    line aux 0
    password blablabla
    login
    modem InOut
    transport input all
find the aux port's line number which depends on the router model then telnet to a live ip on router 1 on that port.
    Worc_3640#sh line
Tty Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns Int
    0 CTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
    129 AUX 9600/9600 - inout - - - 0 0 0/0 -
    * 130 VTY - - - - - 75 0 0/0 -
so say 10.1.1.100 2129 if 10.1.1.100 is on that box.
    should get you going..

  • New router: cp1525nw wifi install fails with vague error message

    Product:  HP Laserjet Pro cp1525nw
    OS:  WIndows 8.1
    Hardware:  Asus laptop
Recently received new router from Verizon (FIOS), model FQG1100 BHR4 Router
    Purchased printer in 2012.
Printer was working with old router; it won't communicate with new router.
Over four days I have repeatedly removed the printer from the laptop and tried reinstalling using the wifi method. The install instructions say to run the CD, choose wifi, connect the USB cable when prompted, configure, remove cable when prompted.
When I attach the USB cable the configuration starts, but it either times out ("taking too long") or fails with vague message  about not finding the product. I am never prompted for an SSID.
I tried a USB install and that worked; so the USB cable is good.
Windows File & Print Sharing is enabled.
I've tried re-setting the printer to defaults, and ensured the wifi menu says "ON" for wifi.
I ran a wireless network test report:
PASS for wireless on, wireless working, and Security.
FAIL for Network Name (SSID) Found.
NOT RUN for: printer settings consistant with wireless router settings, No filtering, connected, signal strength, other networks detected.
    Wireless netwrorks detected: 9
I note the router label does not statE "SSID", but says "ESSID".
I would appreciate any ideas for what to try.

Last night I finally got it to work.  I removed the printer fully from the PC and rebooted. I turned off the printer. I ran a cable to the router (cable modem). I reset the router, which then assigned an IP address to the printer. I changed the security settings on the router to use WEP instead of WPA. I ran the HP printer setup program---and it finally presented me with the "provide SSID" screen.  The program ran successully. I printed a test page. I changed the router secuirty back to WPA2. I printed another test page.     I tried rebooting everything and printed again.  I also tried removing the cable and then printing again---the printing failed.
In short, I needed to do two things:  connect a cable and change the router temporarily to WEP for the install.
In my case, my printer is close enough to the router to run the cable.  A little disappointing that the true wireless won't work, but I can print wirelessly from my laptop.
I've seen how a lot of people have had the same issue I had, and how HP is of no help in solving this issue.  I'm convinced the printer has a flaw.  I hope my posts will be of benefit to a few people having the same issue.
