Connecting Nintendo Wii To Laptop

hi there i am at university and have just recently got a Nintendo wii, due to lack of space i just wanted to know is there any way i can connect my games console to the laptop and play on there?

You need the EyeTV Hybrid. It is USB 2.0, so won't work on the older TiBooks, if that is the computer you have. Unless you get a USB 2.0 PCCard.

  • Connecting Nintendo Wii - 802.11n AEBS - Broadband Router aint worken?

Hey guys, Ive just bought a new Nintendo Wii which is working a charm, but i cant seam to be able to get it to connect to my wireless network, (my new iPod Touch is also having the same problems (works fine on all networks other than home).
Essentially I've got my broadband modem plugged into a router upstairs and my AirPort Extreme (802.11n) plugged into the aforementioned router upstairs (for some reason AirPort Extreme wouldn't recognize plugging the broadband router straight in rather than through another router) so my setup is:
Broadband Modem -> Wired Router -> AirPort Wireless -> Wii
I think the fact that i have my internet connection coming from another router (whose settings i cant change cause I've forgotten the routers password) and then plugged into my AirPort is whats causing all my troubles??? So ideally if anyones got any suggestions why my AirPort wont accept direct connection from my broadband router i think that might do the trick but making my current setup work for the Wii would be cool.
This is really causing me allot of troubles with heaps of devices so any help is welcome!
    Thanks in advance!

Hello kungfuelmosan. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I suggest that you try connecting the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) directly to the broadband modem again, but this time make sure to allow enough time for a complete power recycle of the network components when doing so as follows ...
Try the following, in order, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • How to connect Nintendo Wii to WRT54G (Wireless Router)

Does anyone know how to find the "password or key" for my secure wireless router?  The Wii game is asking for "password or key" to access my wireless network and I do not know what it is.

  • Sharing internet connection with powerbook and nintendo wii through airport

i have been trying to share my internet connection from my imac to my powerbook and nintendo wii. i've been unable to accomplish neither. i've opened the sharing preferences, chosen "share your connection from built in ethernet" which is how my imac is connected to the internet, and then chosen "to computers using airport". if i then set my airport options to automatic channel, encryption using 40 bit wep and set a 5 character password as it says if you "plan to share your internet connection with non-apple computers", (and then turn internet sharing on) shouldn't i be able to connect either/both my powerbook and my nintendo wii? or is it necessary to have some other piece of hardware or go through some other steps?
thanks in advance for any help.

I got a macbook for college and I had the same problem with connecting my Wii to the macbook's connection. But lo and behold, the internet's a wonderful place! I tried this out (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515) and it worked! I'm not sure about the powerbook bit though, sorry. Hope it works for you too.

  • Connect Wii to laptop

Is there a way to connect a Wii to a pavilion dv4 laptop?

Do you want to use the controller on the notebook or show the Wii's display output on the screen.
The controller uses bluetooth technology to connect to the Wii & then RF to verify where to show it on the screen. This is no way is supported by HP but it is possible to connect it to the notebook if you have Bluetooth.
When it comes to the Wii display showing on your computer screen thats not really possible. In the past some TV Tuners were able to show RCA inputs on the computer screen (I have done it with a PS2) but more modern ones have a greater chance not to function that way.
    I am an HP employee.

  • We recently switched ISPs. To connect to the new ISP our Airport Extreme has to be in bridge mode. Now our Nintendo Wii won't connect to the Airport. Is it an issue with bridge mode that is causing this?

We recently switched ISPs. To connect to the new ISP our Airport Extreme has to be in bridge mode. Now our Nintendo Wii won't connect to the Airport. Is it an issue with bridge mode that is causing this? We're running two Macs wirelessly with no problems.  And the Wii did connect before the switch.

Hello and thanks for the reply.  I gave this a try, turned off Airport on one of the computers and tried the Wii again.  Still no connection.  I should say that we're also running an old G4 (wired) off the Airport as well, with no problems.  I've tried many things to make the Wii to work, including power cycling the Airport, turning off the security settings in the Airport, resetting the Airport to it's default and redoing the network, resetting the network setting on the Wii (several times), moved the Airport closer to the Wii, all with no luck.  The Wii "sees" the Airport but won't connect to it.  I'm at a loss for anything else to try, so any help is appreciated.

  • WRT110 with Nintendo Wii

I have the Linksys WRT110 wireless N router, and I cannot seem to connect my Nintendo Wii to the internet through the router.  When I search for my access point, my router does not pop up...I can see neighbors' connections but not mine.  I am able to find my router with my desktop, various laptops, and wifi phones/ipods so it is only a problem connecting to the Wii.  I have searched a little bit tonight online, and other people have had the same problem with this router; however, I was not able to find anyone posting solutions to the problem.  Thus, I am wondering if anyone here has this same router and has found a solution in connecting the Wii?

The Wii is wireless B and G mode capable, so be sure your router is not set for wireless N only.  Your router is set to mixed mode by default, so that might not be your issue.
I've read that the Wii sometimes has problems detecting networks running in certain modes.  You might want to experiment by temporarily setting your router to wireless B or G only.
You might also need to consider updating your routers firmware if you don't already have the latest version.

  • Connecting my Wii to my WIRED router

I have broadband wired connection but all the directions for connecting my wii are for wireless connections. I purchased a USB Ethernet Adapter for my wii and have connected it to my computers ethernet port on the router but I cannot get the wii connected online. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for setting this up?

how much does a wireless router cost and is it an extra cost on my bill to use it??    Prices on wireless routers vary as seen here on this link.
CLICK HERE  There is no monthly charge, essentially you purchase the router and conect it to your modem.  It's yours.  You will want to make sure the one you choose has 4 ports on the back and is wireless B and wireless G compatable.  Personally I like Linksys and D-Link routers.
Does it fit into the ethernet port of the modem?  Yes, using an ethernet cord (cat5)
Have you ever not been able to get online with your wii with it? I can always get on...no problems.
What else can it be used with?  I presume we're talking about the wireless router?  You can use it with laptops, or if you get a ps3 down the road, you can use it for that also.

  • Connecting a wii to wrt54g2

i tried to connect my wii to a wrg54g2 and it finds it but will not let it connect. my laptop works fine.

If your laptop connects perfectly fine to the same router, I think you shall check your wii, try to connect to another wireless network outside your home just in case to determione if the problem is with your wii...

  • Nintendo Wii Remote and Remote Buddy work only in Safe Mode

I'm having trouble with getting Bluetooth to work in normal mode. I can connect to BT devices but the connection is lost within a couple of minutes. In Safe Mode, however, the connection is stable. I am using a Nintendo Wii Remote and Remote Buddy software (both of which are really cool). Also, a Sony Ericsson Z520a phone works well in safe mode but not in normal mode. What can be done to get things working properly?

Here is an update: connecting the iMac G5 with the Wiimote through Bluetooth using the Remote Buddy software works IF I do nothing but connect in normal startup mode. Waiting a few minutes after connecting allows me to then use the Wii as a remote. What is happening!! Please, someone respond. Thanks in advance.

  • Air card on Imac. Set up & share internet wirelessly with  Nintendo Wii.

I have tried to set up without success, connecting my iMac,s air card internet connection with a new Nintendo Wii. I have at one point got the Wii to recognize some connection signal (name of my iMac) but no through connection to internet with air card online.
Unfortunately, I have changed several settings on my iMac in the bluetooth and airport setups so it is not at the same starting point as original.
FYI I have an airport extreme also, which has never been utilized but is a recognized network on my MAC.

Your AirPort Extreme should be connected to the internet via the modem or whatever your ISP provides. The Mac and Wii connect to the AirPort, either wirelessly or via ethernet cables. When set up this way, your Mac will have nothing to do with connecting your Wii to the internet.
I hope this video will help:
