Connecting Playstation 3

I have a WRT54G wireless router that I have been using for sometime without problems. I regularly have 2 to 3 PC's connected with a wireless connection. I just purchased a PS3. When I try to log on with the PS3 it cannot gain access if one of the PC's is active.  If the one of the PC's is inactive it loses its wireless connection when the PS3 logs on. ThePS3 works great if no other computer is on the network.  When the PS3 is active all other PC's can not gain access and may generate an error "IP address taken".

You have to manually assign your PS3 a Static IP address that is different from your machines

How do I connect my playstation 2 to my Apple Cinema display? Any suggestions?

Does your cinema display have DVI in?
Depending on what model screen you have, I'm guessing you could use a HDMI to DVI converter cable.

  • How to connect Playstation 2

How do I connect a Playstation 2 to my Mac Pro?

You can't connect it directly to the Cinema Display, so you'll have to use a TV-in or some sort of video capture device (PCI-Express, USB or FireWire) and some software to display this captured video in real time. (do some Googling around, I wouldn't be able to point you in any particular direction, as I've never used any of these devices...)
I don't know if that would work for games where reaction time is a factor, as I don't know if there would be a delay between a frame being captured and that same frame being shown on the monitor.

  • Help with Connecting Playstation 3 to mac mini wireless.....

Well, I finally figured out how to share my wireless connection from my mac mini throughout my house.... it wasnt even in the network area, you have to go over to sharing in systems menu, and set up "internet sharing" through your ethernet port... after that it opens up this little mac into a wireless access point to your local ethernet throughout...... but............. even after my iphone, mac, windows laptop, etc.... log on easily... I cannot, Cannot!! get my ps3 to register an IP address. i have everything set up right, and thinking it was because i was ethernet linked through my dads router also downstairs "the main router of the house" and it was blocking me..... i did some studies... well i had another wireless router in the house.. so i plugged my ethernet into it, activated it and set it up.... it works.... then i try the ps3.... voilllaa it works...... so its not the main router blocking..... Why does a shared internet to ethernet mac system not understand what to do with a playstation 3 wirelessly???

    My Mac mini is connected to the internet by Ethernet cable to my ISP's Arris gateway. I am sharing the Ethernet connection to two iPod Touches via AirPort from my Mac mini. This is how I configured the Mac to share the connection;
    1. In Sys Prefs/Sharing I highlighted Internet Sharing (do not check the box)
    2. Share your connection from: Ethernet (from the dropdown menu)
    3. To computers using: AirPort (check the little box)
    4. Press the button AirPort Options...
    5. Name your Network
    6. I use Automatic for the channel
    7. I encrypt my network using a 40-bit WEP key
    8. For a non-Apple device you must use only a 5 alphanumeric character, 40-bit WEP password or only a 13 alphanumeric character 128-bit WEP password
    9. Press OK
    10. Check the box for Internet Sharing
    11. Answer any dialog boxes that pop up

Im using the MSI Media Center Deluxe II, and I can play all my games, but ther is NO SOUND at all.  I cant hear anything.  I tried with the other cables, red and white, but it doesnt work.
    What should I do?

    ASUS CDRW 52X24X52X

    GEFORCE FX 5200 VTD 128

Absolutly not, the VGA card only has a video input, what you need is a 2RCA->3.5mm stereo adapter and plug it in to the Line-In of your sound card

You're trying to use a PS3 with a PC monitor?  I thought that couldn't be done, but I'm not sure.
    Why wouldn't it?
PC monitors and LCD HDTVs are nearly indistinguishable from each other now, at least when connecting via HDMI.
It should simply be a case of:
HDMI from PS3 to PC monitor
Audio output (depends on your audio system) from PS3 to audio system.  (Actually, this is one of the few differences between PC monitors and TVs with HDMI connectivity - most PC monitors don't have speakers, TVs do and support HDMI audio.)
In my case, I have HDMI to my 46" TV and optical audio to a Yamaha receiver, but could easily move the PS3 to my "office" and connect to my 24" Gateway monitor and my other Yamaha receiver.  (Yes, I have TWO Yamaha HTIB systems, one in the living room and one in the "office".)

  • Anybody here successfully connect PlayStation 3 to iMac wirelessly?

I have internet sharing turned on. I have my wireless network set up using the iMac's built-in Airport Extreme Card. My PS3 can find my wireless network and it can obtain the IP address but it can not communicate with the server due to a DNS error.
Sony and Apple support could not help me. You all are my only hope. I know it can be done. I just need to find someone who has done it and is able to explain it to me.
    Thanks for any help.

These are the instructions from the Help menu in the Finder. It is easy to look up subjects if your change the view in the Help Viewer to Index.
    Sharing your Internet connection
If your computer is connected to the Internet, you can share its connection with other computers on your local network.
For example, if your computer is connected to the Internet using a DSL modem and has an AirPort Card installed, you can share the DSL connection with other AirPort-equipped computers.
On Windows computers, sharing your Internet connection is sometimes referred to as a "network bridge," or 'bridging your network."
    1. Open System Preferences, click Sharing, and then click Internet.
    2. Choose a network port from the "Share your connection from" pop-up menu.
    3. Select "Built-in Ethernet" or AirPort depending on which computers will share your Internet connection.
    4. If you have turned on the firewall on the Firewall pane of Sharing preferences, you also need to turn on Personal Web Sharing on the Services pane of Sharing preferences in order to share your Internet connection and allow computers connected to your Internet connection to browse the web.
IMPORTANT: If your Internet connection and your local network use the same port (built-in Ethernet, for example), investigate possible side effects before you turn on Internet sharing. In some cases (if you use a cable modem, for example) you might unintentionally affect the network settings of other ISP customers, and your ISP might terminate your service to prevent you from disrupting their network.

  • Playstation 3 problem DLNA3 WRT54G

    Hello,
Yesterday sony has updated the playstation 3 firmware with version 1.8 wich supports DLNA3. So you can acces media files on you pc.
If I activate the media sharing, the network keeps crashing. I cant log in on the playstation network and my pc is having problems accessing the internet. If I disable this sharing the problem is gone. So I know that is the problem.
A lot of users are having this problem, in US and EU. Forum link: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&thread.id=62655
There are around 20 to 30 people having this problem after 1 day. So im not alone on this one.
Somewone said that it was a UPnP problem, that the router keeps crashing wich causes this problems.
    Is this fixable?
    I have a linksys wrt54G version 5 fw v1.02.0
    Thanks
Owner of: Linksys WRT54G version 5

I have the Linksys WRT54GS v.5 with the most recent firmware update 1.52.0 and after updating the PS3 firmware to 1.8 it instantly kills my connection between my router and my ISP anytime I try to access anything online with the PS3 (Test Connection, Playstation Store, Internet Browser, or even at login on power-up).
After it kills my connection and I re-establish it I've tried numerous setting in the PS3 Network Settings and so far nothing has worked.
At first it always failed at Internet Connection with DNS Error (80710101) but after manually entering my primary and secondary DNS I can get it to proceed a bit further before it knocks me off and gives me error 80130208.
I also tries Wired and Wireless, same results.
I've tried turning off the PS3, my DSL, my router, and the PS3 power switch. I've made sure my router firmware is up-to-date and pressing its reset button. I've called my ISP.
After three hours of this I give up.
Please, if anyone figures this out please HELP! Thank you.
Update: A ton of people on the PS3 boards are expierencing the same problem with Linksys WRT54Gx model routers. A temporary fix is to disable the new Media Server feature Sony added with this firmware update.
However, it remains to be determined if this is a problem on Sony's end or Linksys since almost all other routers are working fine with this new feature.
Since this is a major new feature I sure hope Linksys/Sony gets this resolved SOON, PLEASE.
If anyone knows of some magic router configuration that will get these routers working with the new Media Server feature please share.
    Thanks.

  • Song-Radio doesn't work over different (Spotify Connect) devices at same time (anymore)

In current Versions of the Clients (Android, Windows, Spotify Connect Device (Yamaha CD-N301)) the Song-Radio function doesn't sync the Song-Radio List* (not the playlist!) correct over different devices. For example, if I start a Song-Radio on Android, the correct screen is shown on my Android Device, but in the Windows Client, I see only "a normal playlist" without the thump up/down buttons, but with the (in Radio-Modus not allowed) back button. In the other direction (starting Song-Radio in Windows and look it on Android) it also do not work. It's possible a bug - not only that it worked in older Versions - starting a Song-Radio on Windows with a Spotify Connect Device currently being the speaker (Android or Yamaha CD-N301) results in a "working" Radio Screen in Windows, but the current playing Song isn't that shown on the Radio Screen, but the Speaker Symbol on the Song in front is shown! (see attached screenshot)Starting the Song-Radio in Windows with Windows is the Speaker works. It looks like that it works also when it's switched to another device as speaker after the Song-Radio was started with Windows as the Speaker. Starting the Song-Radio in Android Device shows the correct Song on all devices - even with other devices as the speaker - but it's not shown as Radio on Windows. Possible it's just a problem with the Windows Client - but without more devices to test, I couldn't say, and when starting the post, I noticed it while listening to my Yamaha CD-N301. *: The Radio Screen where I'm able to see the current and last played songs and where I'm allowed to like/unlike (thumb up/down) the current song, and where I'm also only allowed to forward to the next song - not go back to the last ones, so the backward arrow is missing. Well, you possible know what screen I mean - it's that one called Radio :D

  • I have a Motorola SB6141 modem that is connected to a time capsule. I am unable to connect to the internet on my laptop and playstation 3

Ive just switched to a "Motorola SURFboard eXtreme Cable Modem" which is connected to a time capsule.
I am unable to connect to my internet via. wifi on my Playstation.
I have already tried many different attempts to connect to the internet. I have tried to directly connect to the internet using an ethernet cable as well as restarting my mac laptop and playstation. I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
    Please help?
I tried being the most descriptive I could

I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
What IP does your main computer get.. ?? Post a screenshot if you can as it helps to see the details.
When you open the airport utility on the main computer.. click on the TC what errors does it show?
They will list in the summary.
What mode is the TC in? If the setup went wrong it might be bridged when it should be in router mode..
Remember any time to change things around with cable modems you MUST shut down the modem as well.. it cannot change the MAC address of the first item easily so need to be off.. a few minutes at least.. sometimes up to 20min or longer. Make sure the TC captures the public IP on the wan interface.. which is the only way this will work with a pure modem.
The most recent TC can still have issues.. new AC version TC and AE have the Max amount of issues with SB6121 and 6141.. there seems to be some ethernet issue between them..
What model TC do you have??
You can slow the LAN port down or specify the actual speed in the Gen1-4.

  • Connecting MacBook to Playstation 3

Does anyone know how to connect my MacBook to my Playstation 3? Both are connected on my home wi-fi network for internet access. On the PS3 menu screen, it has an area to search for media servers. I'm assuming this so i can display photos, videos, music, etc. However, it can not locate any servers. So... how do i use my MacBook as a wireless server to stream my media to my PS3? I think it would be cool to stream my iTunes into my game room from my office via my PS3.

ok. SO i have downloaded "eyeconnect". How do I update the firmware on the PS3? Is it just thru the most recent update? in that case, check, done it. I ran the eyeconnect, and searched for media servers on my PS3 but it found nothing.
I guess I really have no idea on how to stream my media.
Goofy.....If it's not too much to ask, can you give me a step by step instruction on how to do this? oh, and I am using a "g" wireless network
