"Connecting" pop-up message

I'm one of the people that is having the stand-by/wake-up issue. When the iPad goes into a standby mode, it will not re-connect to the internet. It still shows maximum signal strength, but I cannot connect to the 'net (and not even to my router's internal website).
Three times now (out of hundreds), when I wake it up from standby, I've seen a small dialog window pop up with the word "Connecting" in it.
My question is (for people who having working and non-working iPads): Do you see this every time? It's a small window in the middle of the screen that only has "Connecting" in it. It goes away very quickly. It doesn't seem to help, but I'm curious if others see it.

I also encountered this same behavior after one day of use.
This problem feels different than the other WiFi signal or unable
to join network issue.
For me, in the WiFi settings, it shows the check mark that WiFi network
is connected. But then when I switch to Safari, a pop up would come up
and says there is no internet connection.
I troubleshoot in the following order:
1) I tried disabling and re-enabling the WiFi. iPad was still showing
connected to my WiFi network, but still no internet.
2) I tried rebooting my router and DSL box. Again same thing.
3) I tried rebooting my iPad. Problem still there.
4) Finally I asked iPad to forget my WiFi network, then re-join the network.
This worked!
I have seen this happen one more time after the fix.

  • What's with this "stay connected" pop up message?

    Hi all,
I just got a new G5 Intel iMac and have had great success transfering all of my setting and data from my old g4 iMac via the Migration Assistant and Target Disk Mode to the new machine. No problems at all. It was a breeze!
However, now that the new machine is up and running I periodically get this message: "This is your reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?" Then it offers two buttons: " Disconnect" and "Stay connected" I remember that with an older version of OS 10, either Panther or Jaguar, I would get such messages but there was a System Preferences panel in which you could shut this message off and stay permanently online without having to hang around during long downloads and punching the "Stay connected" button. This message never appeared on the old G4 iMac even though I was running the very same version of Tiger (10.4.8) on it that I now have on the new iMac. Apparently the setting to turn off this message didn't transfer over and, what's worse, there is nowhere I can find in the Tiger System Preferences where I can shut it off.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks everyone.
    Rick

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick response! I looked at the "about this Mac" in the Apple menu and here's what it states:
"2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo"
I tell you this because I originally posted this question in the iMac G5 forum and they told me to post it over here in the Intel Mac forum. I'm starting to get even more confused.
Also, I looked again at the Network setting in System Preferences and there is no PPP or Options choice anywhere. Instead it just tells me this:
"Built-in Ethernet is set up to use PPPoE." and "You are connected to the internet via Built-in Ethernet."
And I am indeed connected via the ethernet port to a DSL modem. I do remember in previous versions of OS 10 doing exactly what you suggested in your post to get that blasted pop-up message to stop annoying me and, like you said, "Problem [was] gone". This message never bothered me on my old iMac g4 (which was a power PC Mac) but now, maybe because of this new chip it's baaaaaack So with this further information do you have any other ideas?
    Thanks again,
    Rick

  • Staying Connected Pop Up Message

Im feeling a little slow and annoyed.
i got my macbook pro a few weeks ago and since i got it as long as i have been connected online either wireless or wired, a message pops up that says " your internet connection is still active. would you like to stay connected? " .. it pops up every 20 minutes and if i dont answer quick enough it disconnects me from online.
Its become really annoying. I've gone through system preferences bout 20 times trying to figure out how to turn it off so it just stays connected without asking me if i want to stay connected every 20 minutes. If u got any ideas on how to turn it off, plz send them my way.
    thanks if u can help

Do you use iTunes with your iPad and if so, have you tried syncing your iPad with iTunes since you updated the iOS?

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

I'm being shown an error pop-up message periodically saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file:' are not supported." I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server, but this message continues to pop-up several times a day at random intervals. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is my computer just having a glitch? Other than that, and a mildly sticking caps lock button, it's working perfectly.
    Thank you!

Alright it didn't solve it. Any other suggestions?
I haven't suggested a solution yet. I want to know whether you still get the messages while Time Machine is disabled. Do you? If so, try any or all of the solutions proposed in this thread:

  • My Mac suddenly started getting a pop up message saying "There was a problem conecting to the server. URLs with the type "file" are not supported." My internet is working fine,no problem connecting. I just keep getting this message which I click off .

My Mac suddenly started getting a pop up message saying "There was a problem conecting to the server. URLs with the type "file" are not supported." My internet is working fine,no problem connecting. I just keep getting this message which I click off and continue working.

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

  • Why does my phone keep popping up messages "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone" when there is no cable connected?

Why does my phone keep popping up messages "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone" when there is no cable connected? This has been happening since IOS7 was installed and has become worse with 7.1. I have reset the phone several times with no change. The phone charges properly & I have never used anything but an Apple Lightning cable.

I already cleaned the port with compressed air before submitting the problem. I since cleaned it with a toothpick and dug out some more lint. this seems to have just about fixed the problem since I have only had the error pop up 3 times since then and i was getting the error constantly before.

    Hello Steve
The simple and quick fix is right-clicking on that little Safe icon in the system tray (near the system clock) and choose Stop Backup/Synchronization. Do you see that icon?
Turn it on and off as needed. Did this work for you?

  • Pop up message when connecting to server

I tried uploading some files to the remote server and I got a
pop up message saying "Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote
server time. The Select Newer and Synchronize commands will not be
    available." What does this mean?
    Thanks,
    Lynn

I had the same problem. Installing the update fixed the issue
    for me.

But be sure to read the notes, especially if you originally
installed DW from a Web download.
