Connecting printer to a new SSID

I have an Acer Chromebook.   I cannot find how to get my printer to connect to my new SSID.  There is no HP softeware/driver for the Chromebook.  So I can't get my Chromebook to connect with my printer because my printer is offline.  Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hey @curesh,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.
I understand you're looking to get your HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One Printer connected with your Acer Chromebook.  I would like to assist you with this.  I have some suggestions that may help you get setup.
Typically, it's easiest to complete wireless setup for this printer with a Mac or PC (classic computer) as you can convert the usb to wireless setup using the software.  In lieu of having a classic computer, I recommend you try the alternative setup method.
Getting started try the following:
From your printer's front panel touch the wireless icon
Select Restore Defaults
Next, on your Chromebook look at the list of available networks - you should see your printer's network, which will likely appear as HP-Print-3520.  Connect with it.
Next, in your web browser address bar type in 192.168.223.1 - this will load up your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Click on the Network tab at the top and then the Wireless sub-heading on the left.  Within that menu should be the Wireless Setup Wizard.  Run that and input your home wireless network name (SSID) and password.
Once you've successfully enabled wireless, you can press the ePrint icon (  ) on your printer's front panel to enable webservices.  This will print an info page which will include the printer's claimcode.  This is the first half of your ePrint address preceding the @hpeprint.com portion. It will appear as randomized letters and numbers.
If you've successfully enabled wireless and webservices you will now have two methods of printing from the Chromebook:
ePrint via email:
Send anything you want to print to your printer's @hpeprint.com address via email.
If you're interested, you can customize your printer's ePrint address.  Click here for more information.
2.  Google Cloud Print:

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
The easiest way to deal with this may be to install (reinstall) the Full Feature Software for the printer onto your computer.
The installation procedure includes a connection process that might resolve the issue for you without adding any more stress to the situation.
Along with the basic instructions and install videos, you can find lots of helpful Troubleshooting / Howto help at the printer's website support pages.
TIP:  You do want to disconnect the USB cable from the printer before you install / reinstall the software.
General Instructions to Install the Printer Software
    Reminder:
In most cases, the Solution Center has been replaced by the Printer Assistant.
The Printer Assistant shortcut will be installed on your Desktop during the last part of the installation.
    Windows Operating System:
Create Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
    Open HP Drivers & Downloads
    Enter your Printer Model information
Select your Printer from the “Results” list
    OR
    Open HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer series - J611
Select your Printer from the “Results” list
Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu
    Click NEXT and Scroll down
Look for category Driver - Product Installation Software
Select the Basic Driver, e-print, or Full Feature Software
Save the *.exe installation package(s) on your computer
The file(s) will likely save to the "Downloads “folder.
Be sure to look for Updates as needed for your installation. If available, you may download the Print and Scan Doctor and / or other programs from Category – Utilities.
If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select run as Administrator and install.
    NOTES:
Look at the bottom half of the main webpage for your printer for helpful videos to assist with the installation of the printer software!
Scroll the video list back and forth until you find the video that most closely matches your situation.
If using a USB connection: Download and install the driver software before connecting a USB cable.
Ethernet: Connect the printer to the network and (Optional) assign the printer an IP address at the router. Once the printer is connected to the network, be sure the printer is switched on and then install the printer software.
After the initial installation is complete and working, check / install Category - Update
There is valuable information at the support website, including sections for Manuals, Troubleshooting > How-to, Troubleshooting > Solve a Problem, plus alerts and notifications for your printer.  Be sure to take an extended look at what is available.  Bookmark the page.

  • HT3500 how do i make my printer connect to a new SSID

I have a new wireless address, and my printer's setting is the old wireless SSID. so my printer is not connected....  how do i make the printer to connect my new SSID??

You have a printer question, not an AirPort question. No adjustments need to be made on the AirPort if wireless is working for other devices.
Check the documentation that came with your printer to see how to reset the device back to the original default settings it was using when it was new.
Then, configure the printer to connect to the "new" network....just like you did when you configured it to connect to the "old" network.
If you need more info, you need to contact support at the printer manufacturer.

  • How do I tell the printer the new SSID and wireless key?

    Hi,
I have a HP Laserjet Pro Color MFP M175nw and it works beautifully. However, today I replaced my wireless router and thus have a new SSID and key. I cannot figure out how to tell the printer the new router info - it must be very simple. Please help!!!

    Hi @wirelessfun,
I understand that you need the printer setup on the new router. I can help you with this.
Restore the printer's network defaults first.
    Touch the Setup button. (wrench)
    Select Network Setup Menu.
    Then select Restore Defaults.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is 0.0.0.0.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
Select Method one under the operating system.
Follow these steps to setup the wireless:
On the printer touch the setup button, (wrench) then select network setup menu, select wireless menu, select wireless direct and turn it on.
On the computer, in the bottom right corner click on the wireless icon and select the printer from the list to connect to. Then open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar.
This will load the embedded web server for the printer.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
Click on the wireless icon and connect back to your network name.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is valid. (192... or 10....)
Run the installation again or run the add printer wizard from the devices and printers.
    Test the printer.
Let me know how this goes for you!
    Have a great day.
    Thank You.

I have a wirless network. I connect all my computers to it and a printer. I can print wirelessly from all computers. I tried to add the printer to my new Macbook, which is connecte to the network, but can't find the printer on the add printer and scan icon on preferences. I downloaded a installation printer utility from the Manufacturer (lexmark), but it didn't work. Any sugestions?
    Thanks,

You would need to get the IP address of your printer then manually add a network print queue.
To get the IP address, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Network Setup > TCP/IP > View/Set IP address.

  • I recently replaced my dead airport router with a netgear91-5g router and synced it successfully to my Lexmark Pro 915 printer and my computer and yet when I try to print wirelessly I get the message: "printer not connected; printer offline".

I recently replaced my dead airport router with a Netgear91-5g router and synced it successfully to my Lexmark Pro 915 printer and my computer; yet when I try to print wirelessly I get the message: "printer not connected; printer offline". Lexmark support verified that my printer was connected to the new router and the problem was with the computer's printer configuration and they could reconfigure it online if I paid for their "Premium Support" services ($119 for one year, 3 fixes). I declined, feeling sure that this is something I could do if I knew how. Could it be an incompatability issue with OS 10.8.3?

You saved me $$$ that I can ill afford on my fixed income. I was very unhappy with the "support" from Lexmark... what a rip off!  Thank you dwb!

  • Trying to network my hp deskjet 6940 printer via a new win 7 64 pc. the printer shows as "offline"

I am trying to network my hp deskjet 6940 printer via a new win 7 64 pc.  The printer is visible but shows as "offline" and will not respond.
Can the  hp deskjet 6940 printer operate over a lan using a win 7 64 pc?
    Thanks!

    Borneodiver,
Since the site says the driver is already in Windows 7, then a different method of adding the printer will need to be performed to get the driver from Windows Update.
First, uninstall the printer from the Windows 7 system.
    1.  go to devices and printers and select Add Printer at the top.
    2.  Select Add a local printer.
    3.  Create a new port with port type Local Port.
    4.  The port name will indicate where the printer is located.  The format will be \\<computer name>\<printer share name>.  Leave out the < > symbols.  For me, this would be \\mycomputer\printer.
    5.  The next screen will show a list of various printers.  Click the Windows Update button to update the list to the most current.
    6.  Select your model printer from the list.
The rest of the prompts should continue from there without any issue.  I do not have a photosmart 7760 to get the rest of the prompts from there, but it should work after these steps are completed on the Windows 7 system.
If the printer was added using the network option, then it won't work on Windows 7 and there won't be an option for the driver since a network driver doesn't really exist for the printer since it is not natively networked.
Selecting the network option is usually selected in this process and it appears to not work with printers that are shared from a computer.  This process tricks the Windows 7 system into running the printer as if it was actually connected to the printer, but the port name directs it to the host computer.
    Let me know what happens.
I did find these steps here in jimbo45's post.  I did perform the steps with a different computer and printer successfully, but it should work in this scenario as well.
