Connecting printer with a wireless bridge

I have an airport extreme base station. I am trying to connect a HP Photosmart 3200 printer. It has built in networking and I have a motorola wireless bridge to plug it into. What do I need to do? The tech at motorola said to see the range of the router ip addresses and to see if it was compatible with a DHCP wireless bridge. We did connect the bridge to my laptop and gave it the webkey. She wanted to assign it an IP address, but I wasn't sure it needed one. There is already a printer plugged into the USB and the printer does work with both my mac and wireless toshiba laptop when connected with a USB cable. TIA

You need to do two things.
Configure the Motorola Wireless Bridge to connect to your wireless network.
And then by connecting the printer to the bridge you need to configure the PhotoSmart 3200 to join your network.

Connectivity Issues with 1400 Wireless Bridge

Just seeing if anyone has run into a similar problem....I have two 1400 outdoor wireless bridges. They have been in place for a couple of years without issue. This past week, the non-root bridge began dropping it's association, at first randomly, then consistently. Both bridges have been replaced, antennas (AIR-ANT58G10SSA-N) on both have been replaced, and a spectrum analyzer has been used to verify there is not a problem over the air...the ditance between the two is >=1000 feet. Debugs show no reason for the drop, and when the two are asscoaited, the RSSI is averaging around -78. It had been down since Thursday, then last night, as another step in the process of elimination, we replaced the power injector on the root side, and the two bridges associated. They were up for two hours, then went down again, and then started going up and down randomly. As an additional step in the process of elimnation, we are now going to move the power source that the PI is connected to. Anyone ever run into something similar before or have any additional ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, power save is off, the cable run is only about 20 feet. The radio interface was shut down last night so that alerts weren't generated through the night due to flapping, I opened the interface earlier and right now both are up and have been for about an hour. I agree, -78 is not a great signal...currently, looking at the association, the root is at -64 and the non-root is at -62...will update if there is a status change. Thanks.

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
Read up the issue.

I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.

One options is to take a cisco autonmous access point and configure it as a WGB. And no, you would not have to do anything special to the WLC in thay deisgn. The WGB would act as a wireless client.

Printer Not Connected error with HP Wireless Printer

Hi everyone,
Just bought an iMac, first time ever using OSX and trying to add my new HP 2540 wireless printer. I've spent 4 hours on this so far and now looking for help!
I've followed every instruction to the letter - the wireless connection with the printer is fine as I printed off a report, it will print connected via a cable and it recognises my printer in applications and I have done the set up via disc about 20 times uninstallig each time and starting from scratch again. I've downloaded the latest driver from HP. All I get is a 'printer is not connected/printing looking for printer' endless bar when I click 'print'. It seems to be an issue of it not recogising it over the wireless connection despite it being connected to my router.
What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this?

Connecting a printer is pretty simple if you follow Apple's process, ignore HP's guides!!

How can i get my computer to print with a wireless HP envy4502 using an ATT sierra hotspot

I have a HP envy 4502 wireless printer that works find printing from my iphone. I use an ATT Sierra hotspot that is connected via usp to my computer to access the internet form it. My problem is I would like to print from my computer without having to connect the hotspot via usb and connect wireless via the hotspot. How do I connect the printer. Do i need a cable to connect it to computer or do I need a router to connect the computer to the printer wireless. I am confused as to what needs to be done so my hotspot doesnot have to be physically connected to print.

I understand you would like to print from your computer to your Envy 4502.
I can help you with this. You should be able to run the wireless wizard on the front screen of the printer and connect it to your Hotspot wirelessly. If you put your computer on the same network, both devices can communicate withe one another. HP Printers are designed to work with 802.11 WiFi networks, thus connecting to the Hotspot may not work.
This particular model does have the feature called Wireless Direct (WD). HP wireless direct is a new feature that allows your Wi-Fi capable devices (for example: smart phones, tablets, or computers) to make a wireless network connection directly to your printer without using a wireless router or access point. You connect to your printer's HP wireless direct signal the same way you connect your Wi-Fi capable device to a new wireless network or hotspot. - Source
Please use the instructions in the link I sourced to set the printer up using wireless direct. Simply open the link and click on 'How to connect to HP wireless direct'.
Once the WD is enabled, open your network settings on your computer and choose the printer network, it will look like a variation of the printer name.

Configuring the WRVS4400N v2 to operate with a wireless bridge

I have a Motorola WRG850G wireless router setup as a wireless bridge (router functions disabled). The SSID, channel number & security options are set identical to the WRVS. I assigned it a static IP address of 192.168.10.148. My WRVS is 192.168.10.1. The DHCP addressing range is set to 192.168.10.100 through 192.168.10.149. I have not been able to get this bridge to connect to the WRSV. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for the response. For configuration purposes, both devices are in the same room. Both devices are using the latest firmware. The security settings for both are WPA2, AES encryption with a passphrase. I read elsewhere about various successes and failures with wireless bridging and different security settings. Should this be a concern here due to the age difference between my WRVS4400N and my Motorola WR850G?

Fail to install driver HP1050 deskjet for windows 8 when connecting printer with computer

I have this great HP desket 1050 printer for less than a year. My computer broke down so I bought a new one, but now with windows 8.1. So my printer was not working anymore, I fail to install my new printer. I can install the driver for HP1050 deskjet, but then there is a moment that you have to connect the PC and printer with an USB cable. This is the moment that the installation fails, nothing happens when I plug my printer into my PC. So I never finish the installation process complelty. The same thing happens when I choose add printer later and then add my printer. My printer is on and the cable is well plugged in. Anybody any suggestions as I would like to use this printer again. How do I get the airport extreme to broadcast to a U.S Robotics model 5430 wireless g bridge? I want to hook up the bridge to my directv box for on demand. THANKS!!!

It is possible that your US Robotics wireless bridge is having difficulty connecting to the AEBSn when the AEBSn is operating in the 802.11n radio mode. Again the default mode for the AEBSn is 802.11n (b/g-compatible). Since you are not running wireless encryption that issue would be a mute one. I was just checking because the bridge only supports the WEP standard for encryption.
I suggest that you reconfigure your AEBS for 802.11g only or 802.11b/g compatible radio mode to see if the bridge will connect to it now. Note: In order to access these non-"n" modes, you need to hold down the <Option> (Mac) or <Control> (PC) key before making the radio mode selection in the AirPort Utility.

How do I set up my I-Pad 2 to print to my network printer (which is a HP 8600 Pro) ? It printed just fine until I up graded to 7 OS.

2. Select Wireless Direct, and then select “On”.

Airport Extreme or Droboshare to connect Drobo with Aperture wirelessly

I use a Drobo as my primary storage for referenced image files and use my Macbook Pro to store the library.
I'm frequently not able to work in my office and want to be able to put the Drobo on the network in my office (upstairs), connect it to my wireless network and continue to use Aperture anywhere in the house.
I have tried to connect my Drobo (and a normal USB2 hard disk) via my Airport Extreme base station (after installing all of the latest updates a couple of days ago) and Drobo does work with that - including Time Machine.
However, when I open Aperture when I'm using Drobo (or USB2 drive) as an airport disk, the referenced files on the Drobo (even though Drobo is mounted) all appear as off line. I am assuming this is because the reference to the files is slightly different (ie Airport Disk/Drobo/Images instead of /Drobo/Images).
So that rules out the AEBS?
Has anyone got experience with DroboShare to network a Drobo AND use an existing referenced file structure? I want to be able to use the Drobo connected when in the office, but switch to DroboShare when I'm not and therefore the Drobo must be treated as the same path. Because Drobo is on the network I can only assume that the path changes and therefore this wouldn't be possible?
Does anyone have any positive experience with getting an existing (without having to move all the masters to a new path) referenced library to work with either an AEBS or a Droboshare?
If I can't use Drobo in this way, Droboshare is a pointless exercise for me and I've tried my best to get the AEBS to work but the path change is screwing things up. If anyone has managed to get Aperture to work with the AEBS I'm all ears!

Neither the DroboShare or the Airport Extreme will allow the Drobo to work with an existing referenced file structure unfortunately, as Aperture maps the path against each file as a fixed path rather than relative (IMO), so the inclusion of the network component places the Drobo on a different point in the path and Aperture simply looks at each path reference and says 'I can't find it' instead of being able to figure out that the drive is simply at a different point and find each file from there.
Looks like Apple fixed this issue with Time Machine as an existing time machine backup can now be referenced over a network when tied to an Airport Extreme. When you connect the drive for the first time it takes time machine a while to figure out where the backup is, but it does find it automatically eventually. So it is really just up to them whether they change the code or not in Aperture to allow users to switch from network to local connection.
The only option right now is to start from scratch with a referenced structure on a networked Drobo (or USB2 drive). That would of course work fine if you accessed the referenced files in Aperture over the network, but if you tried to access them with a direct connection you'd most likely run into the same difficulty.
In addition, there are no guarantees that when you are relocating masters or performing vault backups over a wireless connection or wired network that the files going across the network are actually being checked in at the other end. This was the same issue with Time Machine and that's why Apple locked USB2 drives out of Time Machine when you connected to an AEBS. Apple would have to ensure that the code not only referenced files correctly over a network but also ensure that files being written over the network (more specifically network packets) are checked in correctly at the other end.

The print server that I want to connect allows me to choose among 2 usb printers and 01 serail port printer. It needs to be connected to a router through a lan port. Given that the all new airport express now come with a wan and a lan port, i want to know if I can connect this device to the airport express.

You're welcome.
Beware that while USB print servers are commonly available and inexpensive, finding one with a serial port is more of a challenge. Apple Stores in the US do not sell them. Call the iStore before going there.

Trouble Connecting Printer to my Wireless Network

I cannot connect my HP Photosmart C4599 to my wireless network. When I try to access the URL for the EWS http://0.0.0.0/ (listed as the EWS on my network config page) , it says no data received, and hence I've hit a roadblock. I understand that you are experiencing issues when connecting your HP Photosmart C4599 All-in-One Printer wirelessly to your Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System. I would like to offer you my assistance with this. Now, support options are limited as you do not have a downloadable HP Full Feature Software and Driver for your HP Photosmart printer on the Mac OS X 10.9 operating system. Therefore, you will be relying on your Apple Updates to load the driver functionality of your printer on your computer. This also means that you cannot run the standard wireless setup that you will see under the HP Photosmart User Guide as you have no standard Wireless Setup utility without any HP Drivers. In saying that, the IP Address of all 0's is not valid. All 0's tells us that your printer is not on your wireless network at all. At least we have a nice clean slate to work with.
Because your HP Photosmart has no HP Full Feature Software and Drivers on Mac OS X 10.9 the wireless setup is going to be very challenging, unless you have a computer that is using a supported Operating System. We could run the wireless setup on the supported Operating System and simply 'add' your printer into your Mac OS X 10.9 computer once the wireless is setup.
Your printer is supported with HP Full Feature Software and Driver on Mac OS X 10.4 to Mac OS X 10.6. There are no HP Full Feature Drivers for Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, or 10.10.
Your printer is also support with an HP Full Feature Software and Driver on Windows XP through to Windows 8.1.
Please let me know if using a supported Operating System is an option just for the initial Wireless Setup. Once I know what option works best for you I will be able to provide additional support options. I look forward to hearing from you!

Why doesn't my MacBook Air see a connected printer on the wireless network?

For some reason my MacBook has come up with a case of the stupids. I have been able to print out to my Canon printer before, but now it doesn't see it. The printer is on our wireless network and can be seen by our iPad, and iMacs but doesn't appear on the MBAir. I have reinstalled the drivers, rebooted the system and when I go to the Preferences to look at the Printers/Scanners there is nothing there. Pressing the + button comes up with a screen with nothing in the default area. The Air is connected to the wireless network and operates fine with the internet and other operations.
What can I do to fix this?

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with printing in Yosemite. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:

Check the network
Open Network Diagnostics, then follow the instructions to make sure you’re connected to the network.
If you’re using a Wi-Fi network and there are multiple Wi-Fi networks available, your Mac and the printer might be on different networks. Open the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar, then try choosing a different network.
To see if the printer you want to use is on the same network as your Mac, open Printers & Scanners preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners), then click Add . If the printer doesn’t appear in the list of available printers, your Mac might be on a different network.
If you know the printer’s IP address (for example, 192.168.1.100), you can try adding it as an IP printer. For more information, see Add or remove a printer.
If your printer is connected to a Time Capsule or AirPort base station, disconnect your printer from the Time Capsule or base station, then reconnect it.
Make sure you have the latest software
Make sure you have the correct version of your printer’s software (also called its printer driver).
If you’re using a printer that another user is sharing, make sure you’re both using the same version of the printer software. To find out which version you’re using, open Printers & Scanners preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners). Replace a corrupted printer queue window
If none of the previous solutions work, the printer’s queue may be corrupted. Open Printers & Scanners preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences > Printer & Scanner preferences), then delete and set up your printer again.
If you still can’t print, reset the printing system.

Etherchannel with Cisco wireless Bridges

I am trying to create a network in which there are four bridges communicating wirelessly in point to point design(Two bridges on each end of the network which are the connected to Catalyst 3650 switches). I have achieved this design but when I combine the links using etherchannel on the switches one of the link is active and the other inactive. the other link becomes active only when the active links goes down due to STP. Is there a way I can make both links to transmit and receive in a bonded fashion without one of the links being inactive to achieve aggregated throughput. Attached is an example of the network looks like.
I would be grateful if any assistance is given to me in this area.

Like Dan mentioned, there is no way you can bond the ports together and make it act like an etherchannel. You either have a primary and backup solution or your configure spanning tree to determine what vlans it should pass to what switch port. This way at least you are using both links and not congesting one link with traffic.
