Connecting PS3 to iMac 21.5

I have a late 2008 iMac (21.5 inch) and I want to connect my PS3 to it and I wonder if any one has a way to do it.

Sorry, but the 21.5" iMac does not support being used as a monitor for another system. That feature is only in the 27" iMac.
You could, however, take control of your PC, if it's a Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 system, from your Mac. All you need is Microsoft's free Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac. Or you can, by various methods, run Windows on your Mac and perhaps not need your PC at all.
Regards.

  • Would like to connect ps3 to Imac?

    Hi
apologies if this has been answered before or something similar has before, but i would like to connect my ps3 to the imac 27" screen that i am looking to get. Dont particuarly want an Imac screen as well as a tv in my uni room.
hope someone could help, looking for a cheap(ish) way but any information would be great!
    thanks

The other thing not mentioned is that you are restricted to 720p whether using the Belkin, Kanex, or the Atlona converters. To get 1080p you need a US$279 scaler.

I've just purchased new iMac 27 inch which is customised with:
    16 GB RAM
    3TB HDD,
3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 and
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
I want to know if I can connect my PS3 using Thunderbolt-to-HDMI connector. Would it work?
    Thanks

Not successfully if you are attempting Target Display Mode.

How to connect PS3 to Imac I5 27 Mid 2011

There is a cheaper solution that works for every apple laptop and desktop devices. Sony has created a software called remote play that initially was only available for vaio user but now u can connect to other pcs, This software allow you to connect your PSP too, see this article: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7225/playstation-3-use-remote-play-on-any-non-son y-vaio-windows-7-pc-ps3-firmware-3-30/

  • Will I Be Able to link / connect the new iMac to a ps3 in HD quality

Will I be able to link / connect the new iMac to a PS3 in HD quality

Not very easily, if at all, since iMacs don't have an HDMI input port.

Also, any cobbled together solution for connecting a PS3 to an iMac likely will have too much latency between the PS3 controller and what appears on the screen for games to be playable.

For the AirPort Extreme Base Station to provide Internet access to network clients, it would need to be configured for: 1) Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address, and 2) Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network.
Although the option: Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network, exists for the Extreme, it really serves no purpose and should not be used.

  • How do I add a printer connected to another iMac on the network to my printer list?

How do I add an Epson printer connected to an iMac on the network to the printer list on my MacBook Pro? I cannot get it to show up in the list for printers to add.

That only works if the printer is itself a network printer. You can't do it if it is directly connected to another computer on the network unless it is configured to be a Shared Printer on the other computer.

  • How do I connect my 27" Imac to my 47" Vizio HDTV?

Look this article over, the key is to connect either mini display port or thunderbolt and using CMD+F2, let me know if this helps or if it doesn't work out. I'll find another solution if this doesn't work Joel ^_^

  • I am trying to connect my new iMac to my Buffalo router.  I forgot my router password, so I reset it and it is working.  I can't figure out how to reset my router password and lock it on my iMac.

I am connecting my new iMac to my Buffalo router.  I forgot my router password so I pushed the reset button and my computer was able to connect.  The problem is, I can't figure out how to set my new password and lock the router.  I went to the Buffalo website and downloaded the CD, as I can't find that either.  I can't open any of it because it says it is Windows and can't open it.  I am new to Apple!

    Ah, new to routers too.
Perhaps it's best to have a local computer support person come set you up?
To explain everything would require writing a book here.
But this is what you want basically.
Router, new Wireless N, firmware updated.
1: Two accounts, one admin, one guest Internet access. Random +30 plus character lenght passwords each preferred.
(guest password to max password length of any iDevices)
2: Encryption: WPA2 AES. No Ping. No remote access. No MAC filtering. Visible.
3: Guest access on devices and computers only.  Passwords written down and stored.
4: OpenDNS preferred but not mandatory.
If you get OpenDNS, you can log into their website for free and set parental controls on things like inappropriate sites for children. So whatever device is used on your network can't access a large portion of those sites (nothing is perfect) by most users who are not technical oriented.
What your doing now is running the bare bones unsecure router which can be used harmfully against you.
Even a Apple Airport router has to be very well secured. The defautl cd and out of the box setup is not a secure solution.

  • I have an iphone 4 connected to my imac/itunes using a designated email address.  However, I also have an 80gb ipod classic which is connected to my general email account. How can I transfer my ipod to the same account as the iphone

I have an iphone 4 connected to my imac/itunes account using its own designated email address. However, I also have an 80gb ipod classic which is connected to my general email address. How can I delete this and transfer the ipod to the same account as the iphone 4. Thankyou

iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID.  So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account.  Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:
iTunes 10: Sync to your iPod

    Thanks,
    Matt M.
