Connecting Samsung Smart Tv to play Live TV on Mac

I have a new Un60HU8550 Samsung Smart Tv, it has the capability to broadcast live TV, or whatever is playing on the screen wirelessly within the network to samsung smartphones, windows phones and iPhones. Does anyone know if there is some work around to make this happen on my Mac. When ever I search for this all I come up with is people wanting to get their TV to see their Mac, the opposite of what I'm looking to do. Samsung's App is called Smart View, but not available for Mac. I tried running it in parallels in windows 8.1, the TV shows up in the list to connect, but never connects, only comes up with network error and then the Tv disappears from the list and have to close the program and reload and the same thing happens again. I hope I was able to describe this properly. I'm not trying to see my Mac on the TV just to clarify, I want to see my TV on my Mac. I know there must be a way to do it. I would appreciate any help, and thank you in advance.

Update: I have Mavericks 10.9.4

How do I connect my HP Pavillion Chromebook to my Samsung Smart TV?

Reset the Airport to factory and start again.
I strongly recommend you setup with short names.. eg AEgenx for base station name (you can replace x with actual Gen).
    AEwifi for the wireless name.
Please test then with no wireless security.. Does it work?
If it does use WPA2 Personal with pure alphanumeric password of 8-20 characters.. mixed case and numbers..
If it then fails wind the security back to WPA+WPA2 which is more compatible with a range of products.
If you still have trouble, tell us what model airport extreme you have and what firmware it is running.

  • Connecting Samsung smart tv un55d7000lf to receiver to use AR

I am trying to connect the AR from the TV to my receiver.  I have been told I need to configure the TV to reroute the sound from the TV speakers.  How do I do that?  I have looked at the emanuals pages 300-310 and I do not even know how to get to the settings mentioned.  Also do I just use an HDMI from the AR port to an HDMI input port on the receiver or to the ARS port on the receiver?
Need help have been working on this every weekend for a month and Thanksgiving along with guests is coming.

If you are talking about the ARC, ( Audio Return Channel)  function, your receiver needs to support ARC   On the Samsung there is in the audio section a place to turn off TV speakers and select alternate source i think

  • Connecting Samsung smart tv via homehub3

How do I do this? I've entered every possible password and key etc, and it still won't connect.
Can someone give me the step-by-step noddy guide, please?

Are you sure your TV is wireless enabled. Some TVs need a wireless dongle purchased from Samsung.
Have a look at this video.
    http://skp.samsungcsportal.com/integrated/popup/HtvDetail3.jsp?cdsite=uk&seq=9152&seq1=9154&seq2=914...
You need to use the wireless passkey that is found on the Homehub label.
If it is not wireless enabled you need to connect using an Ethernet cable from the homehub to the TV. This would in my opinion be the best way to connect in any event. You usually get a better more stable connection by Ethernet.

  • Connecting iTunes to Samsung smart TV using airport express.

Does anyone have any experience of connecting airport express to a Samsung smart TV to use as powered speakers?  I have connected using a standard convertor cable from 3.5mm jack to dual connections but this is not showing up on the TV 'Source'.  Samsung support have not been very helpful but I dont think I'm trying to do anything ground-breaking?!  This worked perfectly well on the previous TV.
If this is a no-go - has anyone managed to stream iTunes onto the TV using the wireless network?
Any help/hints/warnings would be greatly appreciated.

My TV has RCA-type analog inputs but for some reason they do not recognise the input from the Airport Express.  The music is streaming ok because if I connect headphones to the port on the airport I can get music playing.
I'm loathe to buy Apple TV to do what the Airport Express should do for me - however, I might end up down that route.  Can I play all content from my iMac - even music which was loaded from CDs onto the machine rather than purchased through iTunes.  I really dont want to have to pay £25 a year to mirror content I've already purchased in iCloud so that I can play it in my own house.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • No recognition connecting w530 to Samsung Smart TV

    Hello Everybody,
Im having issues trying to connect my computer to my smart tv.  I have a new samsung smart tv and a thinkpad w530.  I also have a 15ft mini displayport to HDMI cable (NOT converter just cable) from monoprice I just got in the mail today.  Set windows 8 up to duplicate the screen.  Neither the computer or the monitor can recognize that they are connected to something else... very frustrating.  I am trying suggestions in other threads to no avail.... I feel like im using my left hand here too because I used linux for like 3 years before I got this new computer.  I don't think I really know my way aroun windows 8 enough so I might be missing some very useful settings.
EDIT: want to add specifically what I have tried.  I tried changing graphics mode to discrete in BIOS.  Have set up screen to duplicate, not extend or anything.  Fixed resolution of separate screens back to normal (when I set to multiple monitors it shoots me down to the lowest one).  I also checked (via the control panel) for new NVIDIA drivers.  It said i already had the latest.  Im having a hard time finding the specific driver I need for the displayport for thr w530.  If you can provide this link, please do! I can't find it and it may end up helping me.
I think what I have tried to far will make sure it works once I get it to recognize the TV.  But it hasn't done anything to make me recognize the tv.  I want this to work very badly!
    Thanks for any help,
    Caitlin
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Works perfectly. Tested in both clone mode (both laptop screen and TV) and TV-only (laptop disabled).  Did not try extend mode double-wide desktop), as I wouldn't normally want to operate that way with a laptop, but since all other modes operated perfectly I'm confident that extend mode would also have done so.
NOTE: Win7 Pro x64, nVidia 333.11 driver, "discrete graphics" enabled in BIOS.
With the W530 and 65VT50 powered off, I connected the miniDP->HDMI cable from W530 to HDMI4 on my 65VT50.  Then I powered on the TV.
Then I powered on the W530 (configured for boot screen to laptop LCD as always). Once the boot process completed, the Windows Welcome screen was present on both the laptop and the VT50.  Obviously the external TV had been recognized, and nVidia control panel (333.11) had automatically gone into "clone mode", with monitor 1 (laptop) being duplicated onto monitor 2 (TV).  I run with "discrete graphics" in the BIOS, and latest 333.11 nVidia driver installed.
After signing in to Windows, I noticed that "overscan" setting on the TV (for HDMI4) was wrong, and that the outer edge of the Windows desktop was not visible.  A quick visit to Setup on the TV, to change this from 95% to 100% solved that one, and the entire Windows desktop was now 100% visible.
I then visited nVidia Control panel and disabled the laptop, using only the TV.
I also visited the speaker icon in System Tray -> playback devices, and selected the TV's speakers rather than the laptop speakers.
I had to enable the TV's speakers with its audio setup, as I normally use an external sound system.  But this worked perfectly and I was able to get sound from the TV when playing video, system sounds, etc, exactly as expected.
Finally, just to confirm that the laptop was sending out 1080p to the TV, I double-checked in nVidia Control Panel:
I also confirmed on the TV itself (with the "info" button) and sure enough the TV was receiving 1080p from the laptop.
So... works perfectly for me, with my Panny 65VT50.  Now I did have to enable HDMI4 of course (as I normally have all HDMI inputs other than HDMI1 disabled, since that's all I ever use in my home theater setup).
Not one single hiccup or issue.  W530 (243852U) + K1000M.

how do I connect my new (purchased last week) macbook air to my samsung smart tv? I purchased the adapter at the apple store and connected to the TV via HDMI cable.  The TV says "no signal.  I do not see TV as an option in the display tab of system preferences.  what else do I need to do?

First, make sure your TV is tuned to display the correct input signal. Most TVs have several inputs (multiple HDMIs, cable connections, RCA etc) so double-check that you're using the correct one - HDMI1, HDMI2 or whatever is written next to the port.
I assume that you have a mini-Displayport to HDMI adaptor? If you open displays preferences, first tick the box that says "show display preferences in menu bar" then locate the menu and click Detect Displays. See if that helps.

  • Apple TV no longer connects to Samsung Smart TV

My ATV (newest version) worked just fine for many months connected to my Samsung Smart TV.  Recently, I updated the Samsung  Smart TV software.  The last update was 6 months back.  Now ATV does not  work.  ATV has been connected to HDMI4 and worked just fine. Any  suggestions?   Many thanks.

  • How can I connect an External Hard Drive plugged in an Airport Extreme to my Samsung Smart TV?

I have an Airport Extreme and an external hard drive in its USB... I could connect it to both my Windows and Mac computers, but I couldn't connect to my Samsung Smart TV... Does anybody know how to do that ?
    Thanks,

Did you have any luck with this? I have the same issue... my Samsung TV used to connect fine with USB drives connected to other routers, but since I upgraded to Airport Extreme, the TV no longer sees any external drives, although WiFi is working great via Airport Extreme.

    Hi Kingofmacs,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your MacBook Pro and TV both have HDMI ports, you can use an HDMI cable to connect the two.
This article can help confirm that your MacBook Pro has the necessary HDMI port:

Ports on a MacBook Pro with Retina display:
You may need to use an adapter to connect your iMac to your TV. This article has more information about Apple video adapters:

  • How do you connect wirelessly to a Samsung smart tv?

how do you connect wirelessly to a Samsung smart tv?

If your're running 10.5.8 your MacBook is likely earlier than a 2009 model so you'd need a Mini-DVI adapter unless it's a model 5,1. We need to know which model you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
Depends on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI.
You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini-DVI adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13
You'll also need audio cables to the TV for VGA, DVI or Composite. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=macboo k+audio+cable&sprefix=macbook+audio+cable&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amacbook+audio+cable
If you connect the MacBook using a MiniDVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a stereo system for audio. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
P.S. Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.

  • Playing videos and other content from my Lenovo Tab A8 to my Samsung SMART TV

Hi,I've a Lenovo Tab A8. I also bought a Samsung SMART TV recently. I want to connect my Tab to my TV so that I can share and watch the Tab's contents on the large screen wirelessly. I tried many different apps but they did not help. Is there anyway this can be done? Would be great if you can let me know. Thanks Tashfin

On my A7-30, I turn on my Screen Mirror function on my TV and then turn on the "Cast Screen" function on my phone. It will then connect.
