Connecting Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic with Creative Soundworks DTT 3500 Digi

The Creative Soundworks DTT3500 has optical and coaxial and digital DIN digital connections with an onboard Dolby Digital 5. decoder.
However only has front and rear analog connection, no centre or sub connection.
Without moding my DTT3500 can anyone tell how I can connect my Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard to get full surround.
Anyone?

So I have a perfectly good set of surround speakers that also have a external dolby digital 5. decoder, which I sometime plug my Xbox into.
And not I have to downgrade my speakers to a set of analogues.....where is the sense in that.
It mentions in the manual about "Decoding with an external decoder or home theater receiver" and connecting a cable from the FlexiJack (Digital Out) on the X-Fi to the Coaxial SPDIF in jack in the decoder.
<FONT color=#330066 size=>If you have a Dolby Digital/DTS/DTS-ES/Dolby Digital EX external decoder (for example, Decoder DDTS-00), you can use it to decode Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS-ES or Dolby Digital EX signals to 5., 6. and 7. speakers from your Sound Blaster X-Fi audio card, Digital I/O Module*, X-Fi I/O Dri've* or X-Fi I/O Console*. With a home theater receiver like Creative Inspire GD580 Speaker System, you can use it to decode Dolby Digital or DTS signals to 5. speakers.
<A target=_blank>[/url]
<FONT color=#330066 size=>To enable this function, select the <SPAN>Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream Out option in Audio Console, or the <SPAN>On (External Decoder) option in Entertainment Mode or Audio Creation Mode. For more information, refer to their online Help.
Does this not work?

  • Will the Sound Blaster X-Fi Work with Sony Viao Laptop?

7Will the Sound Blaster X-Fi Work with Sony Viao Laptop?@ I have a Sony Vaio Laptop. When i purchased the laptop i did not know you could only play music through the mic on Sony Vaio. The mic and sound card are intergrated and there is no stereo mix on the Sony Vaio's.( You cannot en-able the stereo mix on Vaio's )I like to play music on a chat program called pal talk, they have music rooms. But my music sounds like crap because i have to play through the mic. I purchased this USB Sound Blaster to hopefully allow me to play through the sound blaster card. There is a lady on pal talk who plays music and talks on the mic using a Sony Vaio. She is the one that told me i needed to get a creavti've sound card to play music in the rooms. The problem is
I can't find her to ask which sound card she purchased. So i did some research and purchased the X-Fi usb card. Now the problems start. I purchased the X-Fi, turned on the?my laptop as stated?and inserted?the X-Fi?
Into the USB slot. The program asked for permission to run and i clicked yes. It download almost all the way and became stuck while installing the console, went from zero to 27% and stopped. I tryed it 8 times with the same thing happening. I went to the site and downloaded the software from there and the same thing happened. What am i doing wrong? Also when i inserted the unit in the USB slot and clicked on the speaker icon and pulled up the sound information, i see that the X-Fi mic is installed and working but i don't see the X-fi sound card? I checked every where! Also i tryed playing music in one of the music rooms and they said no sound, no sound! Is it just that this will not work with a Sony Vaio? Or am i doing something wrong? I am running vista 64 bit, 4 gig's of memory and daul core?processor and my Laptop is only months old. The laptop sound card is Reltek High Deff Audio. Any help would be great.

the usb sound blaster x fi 5.1 pro thx does come with ddl but not dts connect.

    Hi,
I am using a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, and I recently purchased a Hauppauge WinTV Express card, I have installed the card with no problems, but it says I have to connect a wire from the Line Out port on the WinTV card into the line In port on my sound card. I cannot find a line in port onm the back of my sound card so I am getting so sound from WinTV. Can anyone please tell me how to set it up correctly?
    Thanks for your help,
    MJJOS.

The Line In jack is the second jack from the Digital Out jack. If you have problem locating those jack, you can checkup the user guide too.

  • Sound very distorted at bootup with Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

I have a new HP Pavilion Elite e9180t PC with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card, an OEM card offered by HP.  On two occasions, only two, so far, when the system is done booting the sound is distorted and it buzzes and hisses periodically.  Upon reboot it is fine.
I have no idea what is going on and am concerned that this is a system of a pending failure.  Is there something I can check?
    Thanks.

I have this exact same system with the exact same problems.  I called HP and got a woman who insisted it was all in my head.  She didn't say that, but she continuted to tell me that unless she personally heard the problem herself, she could not help me.  I told her it didn't happen all the time but usually at bootup and about every 6 hours or so as I was playing games throughout the day.  I am a computer professional also, which should be noted, and I have worked tier 3 support for many years so I know how much knowledge a tier 1 support person has, which is what she was.  I couldn't understand much of what she said due to the accent, which made it even more frustrating.  Additionally, she remotely got on my system and clicked a bunch of things that made absolutely no sense whatsoever to the resolution of the problem.  It seemed to me that she was trying to portray herself as "fixing" the problem so that I would agree it was now fixed and move one without her having to send me a new sound card, as I suggested.  She asked me the same questions over and over "so what exactly are you hearing?" and "How often does this occur?".  After the 4th time my frustration really began to show.  Especially after "I'm afraid I have to conclude that there is not a problem with your soundcard if I cannot hear it." and "the diagnostics say the sound card is fine so it must be your speakers" even though I have swapped out the speakers several times and it also occurs on the headphones.  Additionally, I bought TWO identical systems, one for me and one for my husband and his does not have the same problem.  She tried to tell me that our parts were not identical, even though I opened both computers and I will tell you they certainly ARE identical.  She is now calling me in exactly 6 hours because I told her that the issue occurs every 6 hours or so -- clearly she does not understand that that was an estimate of how often it occurs, not an exact timeline.  I am really frustrated.  She also told me there were no other complaints for this issue and now I find this forum.  I also found a similar forum on the creative website.  hmmmm.  That tells me she was lying.  She refused to let me speak to anyone else, also.  Where are the award winning service and support technicians in all of this??  I mean, I work with HP from a business perspective all the time and I get better service.  I am extremely frustrated.

You need to make connection by yourself. Here are instructions fo Audigy 2 Zs.
NOTE: X-Fi's J (Proprietary connector) pin order (and colour of the connector) may vary from oreder of Zs's (like it did on Audigy 2). You can easily find the pins for I/O by trying or measuring.

  • How to connect SB X-FI XTREME MUSIC with Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5

    Hi,
I want to know what I have to do to connect my x-fi xtreme music with my creative inspire 5. digital 5700 due to listen music with all? 5 twiters. I have windows vista ultimate 32bits. Thanks!?JoanMessage Edited by joanantoni on 07-9-200703:54 AM

With your Inspire 5. Digital 5700, your best bet is?using the analog Front and Rear input connections on the decoder and connect them to the X-Fi Xtreme Music front (Line Out )?and rear (Line?Out 2)?output connections and then enable CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Mode on your Digital 5700 decoder which will then give you a 4./5. Upmix. Gi'ven that you don't have a Center connection on the the Inspire 5. Digital 5700, no connection can made to the your Front Center satelite speaker/Subwoofer (Line Out 3) on your X-Fi Xtreme Music card. I'm led to understand that Creative speaker systems do not need Bass Redirection to reproduce proper Bass frequencies on your Subwoofer and not on your satelite speakers but you may want to test this simply enabling and disabling Bass Redirection, on your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card, to your own personal taste. Alternately, you can concurrently connect your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 via the Coxial Digital/PCM Input to the FlexiJack input/output jack on the X-Fi Xtreme Music and then enable Digital I/O mode for the FlexiJack in the Audio Console found in the Windows Control Panel or?in the Entertainment Mode or Game Mode Consoles. Unfortunately the FlexiJack only provides a 2 conductor connection therefore it only supports 2. Speaker system connections?therefore you will still have to enable the CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Modes on your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 decoder to produce a 4./5. sound upmix. Sadly, no optical connection can be made between your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 and your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card without the installation of the X-Fi I/O Dri've or X-Fi I/O Console at, of course, additional expense. From my standpoint, the X-Fi I/O Dri've is a good value given the number of external inputs and outputs in offers. Again, it's a matter of what your personal connection requirements are and budget. Hope this hel

  • Help about Creative SOUND BLASTER AWE 64 & video card Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo2 12

Hi All. I really need your help!
I am hoping you can help me out with these problems.
My PC configuration is: ) Pentium II 266 Mhz; 2) OS Windows98 SE; 3) Creative SOUND BLASTER AWE 64; 4) video card TRIDENT 3D IMAGE 9850 AGP; 5) video card Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo2 2 MB 3DFX; 6) external modem Creative BLASTER FLASH 56K DE5720 V.90.
I reformatted my pc but now:
. I have NO Sound at all and the Icon for sound is missing from the system tray. When I go to control panel and system properties I have this message: "BIOS reports pheripherial resources wrongly (error code 9)", but I have original drivers on Creative cd!!
    2. Modem doesn't work and when I go to control panel and system properties I have this message: "modem drivers are NOT installed (error code 28). Reinstall drivers". I have reinstalled the original drivers (Creative cd!!) but it doesn?t work at all.
    3. System doesn?t recognize Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo 2; it doesn't exist for my pc!!
    Thank you for your time.

He has got an PCI system, so it should be PNP compatible. Migth be Interupt sharing. Try to stick that card into another slot. First only Graphic card. Reinstall Win98SE. Then install !ALL! updates for win98. install the AWE card. Download VXD drivers (NOT WDM!!!) and install them. VXD drivers can be found under windows updates /?Windows ME / driver section. Yeah, i hope this is right : WinME!! (had an AWE32, but its a?few years after i had downloaded these drivers.
Put in your Voodoo card. maybe this card is dead, but it might work if you try it in every slot? (dont move your graphic- card). Good luck. If finished, do the same with your modem, what you did on your Voodoo card. Maybe some parts wont work anymore, because these things are really old and some components on them (capacitors) may have running dead meanwhile.Modem issues: i know that com/3 or com2/4 isnt working on Pentium PC's so try beetween them.

  • Connecting Sound Blaster Connect to an old hi-fi to record ta

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to connect the sound blaster connect to an old hi-fi. there seems to be only cable included that will go to the back (video?) feed of my hi-fi (the double ended white/red cable) and when i plug that in to the hi-fi and sound blaster it doesn't record anything so i assume it's not right. is there a cable i can get which i can just plug into the headphone plug on my hi-fi and then into the sound blaster? i don't understand all the technical phrases used on other messages or the website so sorry if someone has asked this question before.
Can anyone help me? i really want to record all my old tapes onto computer.
    thanks

I always used a stereo guitar/keyboard cable and used an adaptor to make it smaller on the computer end (my headphone socket on my hi-fi is big). But yeh, I always just used the headphone socket on the hi-fi and the line-in input on the soundcard. This has worked for every sound card I've ever had...
You could just use something like...

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music and I am told by the USA Creative website that I can attach a Creative Digital I/O Module (see link below). What I want to know is, will the optical output on the Creative Digital I/O Module produce a stereo, 5., 6. or 7. output? Or even all of these?

    Hi Andy,
It depends on the source. On an optical output, you'll get multiple channels through if it's an AC3 source, such as the audio from a DVD. Other/normal audio will only come through as a stereo PCM signal though, so you'll only get 2 channels then. Check this sticky thread for some more detail:

  • OpenAL in Audio Creation Mode with Windows 7 (Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic)

I have a problem with my X-Fi in Windows 7 64-bit. ?It's a well known issue, unfortunately -- my audio pops and crackles on and off again. ?I've tried Daniel_K's modified drivers, old and new, and the latest official drivers, but nothing has ever fixed it...
...except ONE workaround. ?For some reason, enabling Bit-Matched Playback in Audio Creation Mode removes the popping and crackling.
Which brings me to my question -- in Windows 7, does OpenAL in games basically work the same in Audio Creation Mode as it does in Game ModeThat is, are all the audio effects like the reverb, 3D positioning, etc. still in full effect in Windows 7's OpenAL, regardless of the 'mode' you have the Xi-Fi set to?
Now, I know that in Windows XP, this wasn't true... in Audio Creation Mode you lost support for EAX 4 and 5 in games, and hardware accelerated OpenAL lost audio effects like the reverb and such. ?If you wanted full-featured hardware accelerated OpenAL, you had to use Game Mode.
But as I understand it, Windows 7 is different, because hardware accelerated OpenAL has been removed from most current generation games, and everything is software-based now. ? Is that correct?
Thus, what it boils down to is that I'm hoping I can use the Bit-Matched Playback in Audio Creation Mode to work-around this pop and crackling sound issue without having to worry about losing OpenAL features in games.

QYou just reiterated what I already posted, without answering my question.
Again. ?In Windows 7, does OpenAL function the same in games regardless of what 'mode' you have the X-Fi set to ?I know that in Windows XP, hardware accelerated OpenAL lost some effects in Audio Creation Mode.... is that still true in Windows 7?

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS with Logitech Z680 Speakers. HELP

Okay, I recently purchased the Logitech Z680 5. set w/ the Audigy 2 ZS sound card (not platinum pro version). Im really happy with it, but doing some research on other forums has given me a LOT of questions and confusion. Here is what I need to know:
To begin with, this section under "support" located at the logitech page (link below)
    http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/...fAaVouh&p_lva=& p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd9jbnQ9MjYmcF9wcm9kX2x2bDE9JnBfcHJvZF9sdmwyPSZw X3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PVotNjgw&p_li=
says that to get TRUE 5. sound with my soundcard and speakers I need to have a digital audio cable that goes from the back of my DVD ROM into the soundcard (like the old ones you put in the back of your CD rom to your mother board to get cd audio). NONE of the local computer stores in the area carry this cable and ALL say I shouldnt need it. WHY do I need it, and where can I find it assuming I do?
Secondly, it says I need a digital connection to get TRUE 5. sound, not analog. So if I connect a coax from my speakers to the soundcard (using an RCA adapter since it wont fit into the back of the sound card) im getting better 5. for gaming and movies than I will with analog?
I really just want to take FULL advantage of these two products to give me awesome 5. sound in gaming. This is all I know so far in doing so, PLEASE critique any errors:
    - I had to disable the digital decoder of the Audigy 2 to allow my speakers to decode. I also had to disable decoders built into media software
    - I had to configure both windows and my sound card (and my games/dvd software) to play 5. sound.
-I had to hookup a digital audio connector from my DVD Rom to my soundcard
    - I had to connect a digital coax from my 680z's to my sound card (along with a mini jack for the coax to fit into the soundcard).
    - I had to select "Digital Output Only" and "Synchronize with control panel" under the speaker settings.
Assuming ALL this is done, is this everything I can do to take full advantage of the 5. sound this setup can give me, and will digital REALLY give me the 5. sound over the analog, and is there ANYTHING else I need to consider.
    Thank you for your help:-John

    Boltboy
I've just posted a similar question today. I spent hours trawling the web looking at AC3 and everything associated with it yesterday - still not 00% on it though. I'm with you entirely in the game department except my external decoder only has a digital coax input (the optical is for my Xbox) - I don't have the choice of digi vs analogue as you seem to have.
The only thing I'm not sure if you're aware of is that the set-up you describe doesn't give you Dolby Digital as there is no on-board DD (AC3) encoder. You'll only get DD 5. from AC3 encoded sources like DVDs - you can either set the digital output to passthrough and decode externally or you can decode internally on the Audigy and use the analogues. Not sure which of your decoders is highest quality. I think the 5. you're hearing for games is generated by the Creative hard/software and you'll never get "true" 5. if "true" means Dolby Digital. Having said that, who cares whether it's DD or not if the gunshots sound like they are coming from behind you and you're getting a decent experience ?!
Maybe you can help me in that respect - f you have set up your system as below (Aud 2 ZS to mini-jack/coax and in to your digi coax input on your external decoder), how did it sound? Did you get all 6 channels during the tests? If you think it sounded good for games then I'm off out to get an Audigy 2 ZS and get going because unless I can find a sound card with AC3 encoder (which I can't), then that's my only option. PLEASE let me know if it sounded good to you.
    Cheers

  • Ad-link cable for Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic and Sound Blaster X-Fi I/O Consol

I have both, new pc came with sound card and bought console over ebay which came without cable to connect the two. Can anyone help to locate the missing ad link cable? Have spoken to Creative tech support and they say they don't stock any. Maybe someone has one lying around?!?! Have an audigy zs platinum pro fully funtional with hub to swap or sell.
    thanks,
    Ilka

On the control pod for the speakers, just press the input button until it reads "Direct" on the display. then the same goes for the effect button, press it until the effect is "Direct" from there you can run the Creative diagnostics and do the speaker test so you can make sure you have them pluged in correctly. then mess with the effects however you like

  • Connecting Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS to A/V receive

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but this is the place to ask. I am thinking about purchasing this sound card for the purpose of connecting my htpc to my 5. home theater. I have all my cds ripped to my hard dri've using a lossless codec. Is this the route to go for connecting and what is the best method to connect the two?
Which is the best model? only going to use it for playing dvds and playing music ripped to harddri've. Is there any need for the platiunum ect is the sound card with rear outputs all I need?
    r89msMessage Edited by r89ms on -03-2004 06:9 PM

I have my card hooked up to a Pioneer 500W 5. amp... the way to do this for games is to use the 6 channel analog in on the amplifier (usually for DVD's, has RCA in for front left/right, rear left/right, center and sub). Just use the outputs on your card with a headphone to RCA plug or cord and output one goes to the front channel, second output goes to rear channel, and third goes to center/sub (I forget which is left and which is right). The details on the plug are layed out in the THX console when you set the channel output (5., 6., 7.).
you could also use a mono minijack to RCA plug to connect the digital output on the card to your coax in on your reciever, but you will lose any 3d effects on games. The benefit of this is that you will not have any interference from the computer to the reciever, and you can have the reciever decode dolby digital 5. and DTS instead of the card, but I found that the card does a good enough job as is.Message Edited by RC735i on -03-2004 06:2 PM

  • Connecting Sound Blaster 2 ZS Gamer to Home Thea

How would this go? I've been looking at the Specs and it does not have a SPDIF out. How would I do this while still retaining 5.

The card has a digital output, you could connect to that (with an adapter cable). You will get 5. that way with DVDs, just make sure you set the card so that it outputs the sound instead of decoding it (so output SPDIF/bypass the signal). The DVD software should be set the same way.
Games will not work in 5. over this type of connection, as the source is not an AC3 (encoded) signal. Check this thread for more detail.
