Connecting T530 with Dell U2713HM via DisplayPort, Windows 7 x64

Hi, I've been trying to get the full resolution (2560x1440) out of my new Dell monitor with no luck! Perhaps someone has an idea. I have previously connected to the monitor using a VGA cable (at 2048x1152) and a single link DVI  via a Mini Dock Plus Series 3 docking station (at 1920 x 1080).
When I finally got a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, I was very excited to finally get the full resolution out of the monitor, but I have not been able to connect with this cable!
Both the Windows Control Panel and the NVIDIA Control Panel (for the NVS 5400M) indicate that the monitor is connected (i.e. it shows up in the Window), but neither allow it to be connected.
The Windows Control Panel responds with "Unable to save display settings" when I try to connect, regardless of whether to "Extend desktop to this display" or "Show desktop only on 2".
The NVIDIA Control Panel shows the monitor under "Display/Set up multiple displays" under "NVS 5400M", but does not allow me to check the box labeled "Dell U2713HM".
I tried installing the associated drivers and display management software from Dell, but this did not change anything.
So I am totally stuck! I googled around, but not found anyone with similar problems with solutions that actually worked for me! Ideas welcome!

Hello -
I was having the same issue and realized that I had not unlocked my phone (DroidX).  Once I did that, it immediately showed up in the Windows device manager.
Good luck!

  • Yosemite System Crashes on Boot with Dell U2713HM

Previously under Mavericks I had no issue with a Dell U2713HM monitor and my 'non-stock' NVidia card.  (The reason I'm using the video card I am is because the stock ATI card (ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT) is known do fry itself which I discovered after replacing it with an identical card and having the 2nd one fry itself after a year.  I did a lot of research and settle don the card I now have because others had reported success with it.  It worked fine for nearly a year until updating to Yosemite.)
After upgrading to Yosemite my system went into an infinite reboot loop on startup.  On a hunch, I swapped out my U2713HM for an old 17" monitor and was able to boot.  I can't even have the U2713HM plugged in/turned off using the second port on the card without the system crashing.  If I get the system booted using the 17", I can then plug in/turn on the U2713HM and set the resolution - at that point I can (sometimes) boot but it will then crash on shutdown triggering an automatic restart.
Is anyone having any success with a U2713HM, and especially with an NVidia card?  The only option I haven't tried is a completely fresh, clean install.  Once the system boots, I get the dialog that it was restarted because of an issue and can view part of the dump info that will be sent to Apple -> that clearly indicates the issue is with the kernel/NVidia driver somewhere.
System specs:  Mac Pro (Early 2008) with an NVidia GeForce GTX 650 1024MB card installed running Yosemite (OS X 10.10)

My mac mini (late 2012, Yosemite installed) doesn't start with Dell U2713HM if the USB cable of the monitor is connected.
No problems if I connect the usb-cable after successful startup. Also the usb-hub of the Dell is working fine then.

  • Trying to connect to Airport Extreme with Dell Wireless 1370 and Windows XP

Home network using Airport Extreme Base Station with WPA-PSK (TKIP) Security. All works well with MACs in the house (G5, iMac, and Powerbook). Trying to connect a Dell Latitude D610 with built-in Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN mini-PCI Card to the home network.
Initially home network is not seen on Dell Laptop in available networks (as expected as it has not been added to list of available networks and is a "closed" network)although I do see the neighbors network so card is working and sees "open" networks.
Set-up options for the Dell 1370 card include:
    Network Name (SSID)
Network Authentication (Includes "open", "shared", "802.1X", "WPA", "WPA-PSK", and "CCKM")
Data Encryption (When WPA-PSK is selected it defaults to Auto)
    Network Key
    Confirm Key
All other configuration items are greyed out.
I enter my SSID, select WPA-PSK, Data Encryption defaults to auto, tried entering passwrod in Network Key and Confirm Key which does not seem to work. Adds to list of preferred networks but does not indicate availability.
Question is I have a password that I use on MACs for access to WPA-PSK network. On the Dell there is no spot for a password and it does not seem to work in the Network Key or Confirm Key boxes.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Open (broadcast your SSID) your network and see if that makes a difference.
Often (especially in crowded airwaves) a closed network can cause connection issues for some adapters.

  • Connecting 3560 with Dell 6248 for Storage Migration

I am looking at an old test and dev virtual infrastructure configuration that was set up with a 1GB Linksys Switch and a Dell 6248 Switch (attached pic is a representation).
The reason given for the Linksys in the config is it was the only 1GB switch available at the time when the SAN had to be installed and there were no more available ports on the 6248.Running Dell Dpack reports show latency issues when migrating from an EqualLogic Volume to a MD3200 volume and from the MD3200 to Md3200 volumes (on the order of 30-45 minutes for a 20GB VM). Migrating from EqualLogic volumes to EqualLogic volumes is in seconds.
I think the Linksys is the issue as does our Dell reps. We are looking at replacing the Linksys with a Cisco or another L2/L3.
I have a Cisco 3560 installed but am not familiar with configuration. I downloaded the Cisco Network Assistant (CNA) in order to configure the switch into the environment via a web browser. As noted in the infrastructure pic, the SAN traffic is isolated to VLAN 10 on the Dell Switch. In the second pic, I show the CNA and I am setting up a VLAN 10 on the Cisco switch and then want to connect the Md3200 to the Cisco which will be connected to VLAN 10 on the Dell Switch for access to an EqualLogic SAN
I am not sure I have the correct menu setting in the CNA for setting up VLAN 10 or if this is the best option?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have several E6420, O3010 and since a week also some E7440 and E7240 on site.
I never had issues using the current Dell PE package for MDT.
At the moment my PE contains only the drivers from the Dell PE 3.0 package (WinPE3.0-Drivers-A13-D67JC)
and all my systems mentioned abobe have no issues connecting to the deployment share.
(btw: I have also some older E6400, E6410 and O390 I do no longer support, they
are supported by the pack Dell-WinPE-Drivers-A05.CAB according
to the Dell site, but I just started a deplymenst on a E6410 and is is also workign with just the latest PE pack)
    I'd
suggest you start over with your deplyoment share using at least MDT2012 Update 1.
Create a folder "PE" under "Out-of-Box Drivers" and extract latest Dell PE pack and import he drivers there
Create a selection profile e.g. "PE Drivers" and include just the "PE" folder created above
When configuring the Windows PE  settings of your deployment share select "PE
Drivers" selection profile for the driver injection in the "Drivers and Patches" to keep the PE image free of not needed drives.

  • Bluetooth connection problems with Dell Axim x51v

I have a Dell Axim x51v and it has Windows Mobile v5.0 on it. I am trying to connect the Axim to my MacBook via Bluetooth, but am experiencing the problem where the devices get paired, but are not connected. Infact, when I add the device, they get connected for about 10 seconds, then they disconnect and remain this way. I do have my MacBook firewall turned off and I enabled Bluetooth sharing. Can anyone help with this?

Does anyone know how to sync a Dell Axim that's running Windows Mobile v5.0 to a MacBook that's running Leopeard? I tried doing this with Bluetooth and USB via an application called "The Missing Sync" from MarkSpace and neither of them seem to work. Please help with this if anyone knows how to do it.

  • Connection/compatability with Dell Wireless

We just installed an AirPort Extreme and our non-Dell desktop and laptops are connected but desktops and a laptop that use a Dell wireless device are not recognizing the network. Is there a compatibility issue? Thanks in advance!

Your connection download speed should be about the same 8-9Mbits, whether you are wired directly to your modem, or wired through your router .
You said you reset the router to factory defaults and that it was working better.  Did the download connection speed through the router go to 8-9Mbits/sec ?  If it is still 5-6 Mbits, then this suggests that something in your modem-router system is not setup quite right.  If you still have this slow speed problem, then please post the following info:
    1)  Your ISP (internet service provider)
    2)  Your modem model number and version.
    3)  Open your router's setup pages, and go to the Setup tab.  List all your settings in the "Basic Setup - Internet Setup"  section.
    4)  List the operating system (Windows XP, Win 98SE, etc.) on the wired computer that you are using for the test.
After you list this info, hopefully someone in this community will be able to guide you to optimizing your settings, given your ISP and equipment.

  • X100 e connecting to Samsung audio dock via bluetooth Windows 7

    Hallo,
I want to connect my x100e via Bluetooth to my Samsung audio dock.
    - Bluetooth is working
    - laptop found audio device via Bluetooth
    - the device is working according to the control panel hardware and devices
So far so good. But when I try to use the audio device the sounds still comes via the laptop speakers.
Control panel - Hardware and Sound - manage audio devices doesn't show the Samsung dock but only the speakers
Is there anybody who can help me to fix this problem?

    Hi,
As Rick said, this would be caused by hardware and software compatibility, you should check this following articles, try to update
the device driver for a test:

  • Connecting Macbook with Time Capsule via Ethernet

    Hello!
I have a time capsule and a macbook. I used to backup my data with the time capsule via ethernet. Now there was an update to airport I guess and since then the menue to configure the time capsule looks different and now I have trouble finding out how to set up the connection between macbook and time capsule via ethernet. I dont want the WLAN to be used so I want the ethernet be the connecting part of both esp because i want to backup lots of data now but Im missing the setting that said use use time capsule via ethernet. I just dont know how to set it up now.
I have the ethernet cable in the very left ethernet slot next to the reset button of the time capsule and its also plugged in to the ethernet slot on the macbook. But what are the settings for this connection.
Can someone help please otherwise i think my 23GB backup will take 3 days...
    Thanks in advance
    Dine

Open the network preferences and make sure the ethernet is getting an IP from the TC.. you do not need to change any settings .. all you need is network connection.. if the ethernet is working just turn off airport for the time the backup is going on. Once you turn off airport in the MBP the connection will be forced to ethernet. You can do it more correctly by rearranging the order of preference for network connection.. but for now.. just turn off airport.

    briancrowley,
Notebook generally only have a single Line Output jack that provide stereo only. A 2/2.1 speaker system should be what you need to look for. If you planning to get a 7.1 speaker system like the Inspire T7900, you will not be able to connect all the speaker up. Alternative would be to get an external sound card like the Audigy 2 NX, Live 24 Bit external card that allow 7.1 connection.

  • EhP4 with JSPM/SAINT on a Windows x64 System

    Hello everybody,
we have a non-productive System (Demo) with EhP3 installed (Dual-Stack) on a Windows 2003 Server x64. Due to a lack of ressources i probabaly wont be able to gather another ~200GB for the required Shadow-Instance. So my question is, will i be able to successfully apply EhP4 on this system using SAINT and JSPM. I need to end up with a ERP 6.0 EhP4 + NW 7.01 ABAP+Java.
    Possible?
    Thx in advance
    regards,

    Hi Markus,
this is not supported by SAP, as of EHP4 you have to use the EHP Installer in 64 Bit environments.
    Best regards,
    Christian.

  • Dell U2713HM doesn't work with rMBP

    Hi Guys,
I've read about people with colour issues but my mid 2012 rMBP doesn't work at all with my new Dell U2713HM via a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable (though a single dvi does). When plugged in to the DP cable, the mac tries to change resolution as per normal when plugging in an external device but takes much longer and often has a few attempts at it before picking a wrong resolution for the built in LCD. Meanwhile the monitor recognises that a DP cable is connected but says there is no signal.
I tried the solution provided for the colour issues people were having but it didn't help me.
For now I'm stuck with low blurry single DVI resolutions. Help!
    Thanks,
    James
    DELL U2713HM:
      Resolution:          1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
      Pixel Depth:          32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
      Display Serial Number:          [REMOVED]
      Main Display:          Yes
      Mirror:          On
      Mirror Status:          Master Mirror
      Online:          Yes
      Rotation:          Supported
      Connection Type:          DisplayPort
      Television:          Yes

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011 and connected it to a Dell U2713hm.  After a first hour or so, it stopped working and would not wake-up.  I read many blogs and used various DVI connectors without success.  In each case, the monitor would work for a few minutes and then go black.  Now, it would even not stay on long enough to allow me to play with its settings.
I connected an old IBM to the monitor and it works, of course without the sharpness.
So it seems to be an Apple problem.  Does anyone know if there is a fix?  I have a few days left before shipping it back.
    Thanks

  • Connect mac mini to internet via windows phone

hallo, how can i connect Mac mini to internet via my Windows Phone?

You are going to have to buy an external modem.  They make ones that plug into the USB.  Apple does not make one so you will have to buy a 3rd party modem.  I would read the reviews before making the purchase to make sure you buy one that someone has tested with a mac.

  • Macbook pro stopped displaying full resolution on Dell U2713HM monitor

    Hey guys,
I'm using the late 2013" retina Macbook Pro with OSX Mavericks.
I've been using a Mini DP to DP cable to output full 2560 x 1440 on my 27" Dell U2713HM.
One day while I had that monitor plugged in, I also plugged in my HDTV via HDMI for an extra screen. When I did that, it set my Dell to 1080p and ever since then I cant seem to change the resolution back to its native res.
When I go to the display options for this monitor, under "Scaled Resolutions", the entire section is blank. It gives me nothing to choose from. I've restarted my computer a few times, plugged the cable into the other Thunderbolt port, nothing.
I've tried new cables and went to the Apple Store and they did a PRAM reset. It seemed to work fine when they hooked up a Thunderbolt display to it. But I just cant get my Dell to go full res again. I tried the first cable on another mac and a PC and both let me view it in full resolution. Just not my Mac.
Any advice? It makes no sense why it was working perfectly fine for a long time and then completely refuses to do so only on mine.

I have the same setup - late 2013 macbook pro with Dell u2713hm. I've tried connecting with both a mini dp cable to dp (as included with the dell monitor) and also a hdmi cable and I get a strange result - I get full resolution but it looks terrible - pixalated and faded.
I also have a macbook from around 2009 which I can connect using a dp-dvi adapter and then the dual dvi connector that came with the monitor. It gets a lower resolution but actually looks better.
Any ideas? Have you seen this issue with your setup (which seems the same as mine).
    Thanks,
